Thank you all for taking the time to review. All of the reviews meant a lot to me. There are parts of this chapter that were from Catching Fire.

Peeta joined everyone in the dining cart the next morning. He was wearing a night smile on his face. The boy that Panem fell in love with was likeable, and pleasant. And that's the boy he intended to show al the districts. All Victors had a persona, and had to make sure to play it when the film is rolling, or in the Capital.

"Morning everyone," Peeta says as he took a seat beside Katniss. She looked up from her food, and glanced over, and gave him a slight smile.

"Well someone seems to be in better spirits this morning," Haymitch says, before taking a sip of what Peeta could only think as his favourite whiskey.

"I am. I just needed a good sleep," he lied. He was sure that Haymitch & Katniss could see right through his lie. Truthfully he hadn't slept much. He was having nightmares of Katniss & Gale again. She had pretended to love him to win the games, and at the end when they changed the rule, Gale appeared. He grabbed Katniss into a kiss, and then she took Gale's knife, and stabbed him right in the heart.

"Well everyone we have a lot to do today. We should be in District 11 by noon. And we will got straight from the train station to the city square where you will give the speeches, and in the evening they will have a party in your favour," Effie said. s

"What is it that we're suppose to say?" Katniss asked. She was right, what should they say to them. It was hard enough facing them, but to give them a speech, made it hard.

"Well I've written each of you a speech. Please don't detour from them." He knew very well who she was referring to.

"Well that will be easy for the boy, but Im sure sweetheart may be harder to stop," Haymitch laughed.

"Hey!" Katniss objected.

"Well it's true. You tend to speak without thinking."

"Now after breakfast, you will both need to go to your rooms. Your stylist will help you get ready," Effie says before going back eating her food.

Peeta just dunked his bread into his hot chocolate. It had been something that he had become fond of back when he was on his way to the Hunger Games. He really wasn't hungry, nerves were getting the best of him. He was nervous about facing the families of all the kids who died so they could live. He glanced over to Katniss thinking she was still the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. If he was having hard time, he couldn't imagine what Katniss was feeling. He knew she felt responsible for all the deaths, even though most we're her fault. He knew it weighed upon her.

"Ladies and gentlemen, the victors of the 74th Hunger Games. Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark," the mayor of District 11 says as the doors open for them.

Effie stands behind them whispering, "Don't forget to smile, smile, smile. Stand up straight, all of Panem is watching." Then Katniss & Peeta walk out onto the podium, towards the microphone.

Peeta glances over, to notice the sad look on Katniss face. He follows the direction of what she is staring at, and its a large picture of Rue, and below the photo was her family. His heart drops. He knew that the little girl had reminded her so much of Prim, and that by losing her, it was like losing Prim in a way. Her death weighed on her the most.

He took a deep breath, "Thank You. We're honoured to be with you here today, and to be with the families of your fallen tributes." The crowd stands there not saying a thing. Against Effie's wishes this morning, he puts down the speech cards. "Though they fought with honour, and dignity until the end, both Thresh and Rue were so young. But our lives aren't just measured in years, they're measured in the lives of the people we touch around us. For myself, for Katniss." He glances at Katniss for a moment. "We know that without Rue, and without Thresh, we wouldn't be standing here today. So in recognition of that, knowing that it in no way can make up for your loss, we'd life to donate one month of our winnings to the families of the tributes every year for the rest of our lives." It wasn't like they needed all the money that they got from the Capital. He felt this was the right thing to do. "Thank You."

Peeta turns, to walk off to the side. Katniss hesitates as she looks over at Rue's picture again. She steps closer to the microphone and looks at Thrush's family standing beneath his photo. "I just wanted to say that I didn't know Thresh I only spoke to him once. He had a chance to kill me, but instead he showed me mercy. That's a debt I'll never be able to repay." She looks over to Rue's family, "I did know Rue. She wasn't just my ally, she was my friend. I see her in the flowers that grow in the meadow by my house. I see her in my sister Prim. She was too young. Too gentle. And I couldn't save her. I'm sorry."

A man in the crowd give Katniss the three finger salute, and whistles the iconic three note tune. Everybody else in the crowd joins him and suddenly the Peacekeepers stomp through the crowd to grab the man. Peeta is taken back by it all. What was happening, he thought. He watched as Katniss runs down from the stage, to try and stop them.

"No, no!" she cried They grabbed her arms to stop her from entering the crowd. It took Peeta everything he had not to go and attach them for putting their hands on her, but he knew it would only make things worse. They dragged us both into the building behind them. Before the doors were shut, they witnessed the Peacekeeper shooting the man in the back of the head. Katniss screams fill his ear, at what we just witnessed. She tried running out the door, but Haymitch grabbed her

"Stop! Shut up!" Haymitch said harshly. He dragged Katniss away, and Peeta followed. He was unsure where he was taking them, as they climbed a narrow set of stairs. He was surprised that he knew his way around this place, he had only been there once.

"You two have a very simple task—" Haymitch said.

"I never meant for anyone to get killed, he has to know that!" Katniss said. He was confused who she was referring to.

"What are you talking about? Who has to know what?" Haymitch asked.

"Snow, he came to see me. He's worried about the rebellion in the districts, he thinks that they don't believe our love story," she panicked.

"So he wants you to make them believe?"

"To calm things down."

Anger was boiling, "You know, Katniss, you should've told me that before I went out there and try to give the people our money! Why does everyone keep keeping these things from me. Don't I deserve to know?" He was always the last one to know these things, things that concern his life.

"I'm sorry, I didn't know what to do. He threatened to kill my family, and Gale's family."

"Katniss I have family too! People that I need to protect. Doesn't that count for anything." He may not have a relationship with his family anymore, but he didn't want to be the reason that they die. He couldn't help but be bitter that Gale's family meant more to her then his.

"Enough," Haymitch yelled. "We will figure it out. From now on your going to smile, and read only Effie's words, nothing else understand!"

"Yes," they both said.

"Good! Now lets get back before they start looking for us."

Peeta couldn't sleep he kept having nightmares of his family being killed by Snow, right in front of him. He decided to take a walk, clear his head. As he was walking her was startled by Katniss's scream. He rushed over to her door, and put his hand on the handle, ready to open it, when he began to wonder if he really should. He wasn't sure whether she would appreciate him in her room.

Then he realized if he didn't wake her, who would. It wasn't like when he heard her screams across the road at home, she didn't have her mom or sister here tp be there for her. She only had him.

He opened the door, and rushed over to her side. He sat down, and gently shook her, "Katniss, wake up. it's not real. It's just a nightmare."

He was met by her grey eyes, "I didn't want to wake you, but you were having a nightmare."

"Thanks."

"Well I should go," before she could say anything to him, he darted out of her room, back to him room.

Katniss sat in her bed, wishing she had asked him to stay. To hold her, to ward off the nightmares. She didn't know what this meant, why having him so close brought comfort to her. No this couldn't be happening, she urged herself, this was just what Snow wanted. They were just pawns in his game.

She was conflicted of everything was going on. She didn't want to admit it, but these past few months she had missed him. She missed this kindness, how he cared for others, or even the way he looked at the world. He reminded her a lot of Prim. She knew there had been a shift in him, yesterday there had been something off with him, and she couldn't help but wonder what was going on in that head of hers. She was starting to think that a lot of it had to do with her, due to the words he said before they left for the train, or the way he darted out of her room tonight. And she knew he couldn't blame him, she hadn't been nice to him since they came home.

She didn't think that maybe he was all alone in this. His parents and siblings refused to move into Victors Village. It couldn't be easy living in that big home alone, with no one around him.
