Felicity sighed as she attempted to massage her throbbing skull, her eyes feeling heavy as exhaustion began to take hold of her. The sound of the jets engines and the music that Felix was playing over in his seat was the only things that seemed to be keeping her awake as she attempted, once more, to get a lock on the future of the new born army.

"Hey, are you ok? You look pretty worn out"

She blinked in surprise as Alec gave a small chuckle and handed her a shot of espresso from the on-flight coffee machine, smiling in clear amusement at the grateful look that filled those deep blue eyes before drinking the caffeine down.

"It's rare that anyone's ever able to surprise you. I'm guessing you're tired, I haven't seen bags like those under your eyes in a while"

With slight flush of embarrassment in her cheeks, Felicity gave a weary nod. She'd barely slept since first discovering the existence of the new born army, since learning the name of the young vampire that goaded her gift with her elusiveness, desperately using every spare moment to break past the barrier that shrouded her. She failed every time.

Bree tanner seemed to be such a strange young woman. It wasn't a mental barrier that blocked her mind from Felicity's gift, nor was it the interference of an outside influence. She'd know if it was either of those, her interest would not have been anywhere near as piqued if it were. No, this was something far more complicated, far more intriguing.

"Look, I know it's difficult when something's chewing at your mind but you need to get some sleep. The master's would have all of our heads if you came back home looking like death warmed up and you really won't be much use when meeting this new born you've got your mind set on. So go on, get some sleep for a few hours and I'll wake you up when we land"

His smile was kind and reassuring, nothing like the one he showed when attending the meetings of the coven or dealing with those brought for sentencing. This was the smile of a brother, the one she had loved so dearly as a child. It lulled her gently as she allowed herself to be drawn into the abyss that both her mind and body craved so desperately.

Alec smiled as he watched her fall to sleep, pulling out his mobile as he sent a brief message to Master Caius.

'All is well master, we have yet to arrive in Washington

-Alec'

Caius paced the throne room as he, once again, checked the mobile clutched within his palm. No fresh updates upon the current location and situation of Felicity.

"I told the guard to update me! They are failing in their duties!"

Marcus groaned in annoyance as he flipped through the paperwork within his lap, doing his best to drown at his brothers constant ranting, each growing more threatening and vile with every passing minute as Aro rubbed his temples in an attempt to cope. Why did Caius always have to take things that one step too far? Couldn't he understand that they were all on edge with Felicity's departure for America?

"Dammit Caius, be silent!"

Caius turned on Aro as the two glared at each other, spitting venom as he snapped back a retort.

"How can you simply sit there? We have allowed our mate to leave the safety of the castle and yet you tell me to be silent!?"

Aro seethed as he stood from his throne and squared off with his brother.

"I worry as much as you do brother, but she is with our best guard, those of whom she has considered siblings since her childhood. They will message when they land or if something occurs that requires our attention! And besides, the last message was received only ten minutes ago!"

The night air hung thick as the four watched from the roof tops, eyes trained on the newborns below as they fought over their latest kill, all eager for the blood to quench their thirst. They grimaces at the sight, the memories of their own new born years resurfacing and making them thankful for the centuries that had refined their brutal nature.

"Do you see the new born Felicity has described?"

Jane was frowning as she spoke, the vague description her human 'sister' had given in mind as she scanned the savage creatures below.

"From what she has told us, it might be a miracle if the girl survived passed her first few weeks. She sounds weak in description and relatively useless"

Felix's words were harsh, but they all knew he was being honest. The description of a small, unassuming girl who barely looked past the age of sixteen with deep brown hair did not fill them with confidence for the girl to hold the talent that Felicity believed her too. But that was the cinch, Felicity believed in this girl and that very rarely happened. So here they were, looking for the girl that perplexed their human 'sibling' to discover just what it was about her that had the woman so intrigued.

Alec's eyes were darting across the scene before him, not wishing to leave the area without at least catching a glimpse of the newborn to report back to Felicity that she was at least still alive and that her second death was not the reason for the seer's inability to lock her gift upon the vampire. His eyes continued to scan the newborns below before stopping dead on a vision that almost had him laughing aloud.

"Found her"

In a quiet corner of the ground below, away from the hellish sight of her fellow newborns, a small girl sat curled into a corner, clutching her arm desperately and rubbing the shoulder as if it had recently been injured. The four of them watched her for a moment, confused as to why she was the only one not joining in with the massacre.

"We had done what we set to do, the girl is alive and Felicity can meet her when the time is right"

Demetri's words were ground out slightly as he found himself unable to take his eyes from the girl below, a tugging in his chest making it hard to focus as his fellow guards turned to leave, unaware that his eyes were still trained and his body was unable to move.

"Demetri, get your ass moving or we'll leave you here"

Felix's voice snapped him back to reality as he slowly began to turn his back on the view below, but not before the girl below had looked up and locked eyes with him, a bolt of static coursing through his very being as he tore himself away and caught up with the others, realisation and shock coursing throughout his mind. It had been over a millennia since his creation, he had almost given up the hope of ever finding that special someone to share his eternity with... If she chose to join them at least.
