Chapter 7

House of Pain, 1988

Horcruxes. It meant more than one. Gerald had told him everything after that. His Soul-mate had disfigured his magic, his soul and mind. He still had difficulties to understand why. Over a week and he still could not believe that his Soul-mate had been so stupid, so careless, so immature. Instead turning to purebloods, he should have gone to the Beings. He sneers. Tom didn't know about beings. Only what they had teach in Hogwarts and everyone knows how prejudiced and incomplete the education in there was.

He sighs. He had been thinking it before and now, he was sure it would be the only way to him to get him sane Soul-mate. He would have to back in time. But he would need help of the beings to do so. He would ask the goblins the best way to get audience with them. Thankfully he already had been educated the customs of the Beings. He pinched his nose. It would not be easy. The price they would ask could be too high for him, but he would pay it. If only to have his Soul-mate healed and sane and ready for their union. After all, Soul-mates are as rare as True Love couples.

There were 14 Beings. 7 for the Sins: Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Sloth, Wrath, Envy and Pride. 7 for the Virtues: Chastity, Temperance, Charity, Diligence, Patience, Humility and Kindness. They watched over both creatures and human alike. They were the ultimate judges. The Beings weren't creatures nor were they humans. They were embodiments of concepts, fate and belief. You could say that, they were Gods and Goddesses but not quite so. They just were. Humans had long forgotten them, and history books barely mention them. They had been there when Universe was borne, and they would be long after the Universe would die.

Gringotts, 1988

Mameha walked trough the double doors of Gringotts near midnight about month after the news Gerald had told him. It had taken that long to get audience with the Director of Gringotts, but he had managed that in the end. Small nod of his head had one of guards escorting him to Master Grimbloods office.

"Good evening, Gerald", Mameha said politely with small smile. Over the years he and Gerald had become very good friends. He found himself relax in the goblins presence. This side of him was fiercely guarded. Most people would never see it, but those few that did, they counted themselves lucky ones.

"And good evening for you too, Mameha", Gerald said with warmth that was only present when he talked to the young Lady in front of him. A frown found its way to his face.

"Are you sure about this? No one will call you names if you decide to think this more and…" Gerald started but was soon interrupted by shake of Mamehas head.

"No. I have to do this now. I have think this over and over and only way to be hundred percent sure my Tom will be sane, is to go back when he was just a child himself. I will pay any prize the Beings will deem sufficient. I need him sane and whole. Just like he needs me." Mameha explained Gerald once again.

Gerald nods. He knows all of this but wanted to be sure. He would never forgive himself if something went wrong just because he was lazy and didn't conform it.

"Very well. Come, let us go and see Director Ragnarok. He will take you to see the Beings." Gerald said firmly. He walks to Mameha and gently takes his arm and links it with his own. They walk in silence. The walls change from marble to steel to stones. Their steps echo in the long hallways take walk. It takes them over twenty minutes to get in front of golden double doors deep under Gringotts. Gerald barked some orders to the guards on both sides of the doors and soon they were standing in front of ancient goblin.

White hair, long, long nose and steel gray eyes that had very piercing gaze in them. He was few inches taller than Gerald.

"Is this the child?" he asked with raspy voice. Gerald just nods and mimicking him, Mameha also just nods. Amused smile greeps over the ancient face. He nods as well and with gesture, he sends Gerald away.

"This way, child." He says and walks trough a small wooden door. Mameha blinks and fallows him.

"You are aware, that if your request is not true to the heart, you will not live to regret it." Ragnarok said with grave voice.

"I know."

Chamber of Lies and Truths, 1988

The faint murmur could be heard, when he made his way in the middle of the chamber. He couldn't see anything but darkness. The small ring of light was there only to make sure that the one inside, could be seen.

"Why have you sought audience with Us? What is it that you need so much that you will curt death to have it? And what makes you think We would grant you this request?" There were several voices that spoke in sync. The voices echoed around the chamber and Mameha shivered. This was nothing like he thought, how the meeting would go. For the first time in years, he felt fear. Shiver run over his back. This was it. His one and only chance. He took deep breath and started his life story. He told them about what little he knew about his parents, their deaths and how he had been abandoned to muggle world. He told them about the abuse his uncle bestowed upon him, his aunt and his cousin. He told them how much hate, fear and anger were inside of him, but he also told them about the love, happiness and joy he had in his life. He told them about his Soul-mate and what he had done to himself. The voices sometimes asked questions, asked him to clarify somethings but mostly they just listen.

"And so, I ask and beg from you, to send me back in time to my Soul-mate before he lost his way. Before he lost Love and before he mutilated his soul and mind." Mameha plead to the voices.

It felt like eternity had passed before the voices were heard again.

"We grant your request. But We demand payment. We demand, that you with your Soul-mate, bring Us back in the minds of humans and creatures alike. We do not care how this is done, just that it will be done. Enslave all, bring the Golden Age of Acceptance or something else altogether. This is Our prize. Will you accept?" the voices demanded in cold, unyielding voice that echoed in around the camber.

"I will," was all that could be heard.

"So be it."

And all went dark as Mameha faded in the stream of Time.
