Chapter 8

Wool´s Orphanage, 1934

When Mameha materialized in front of big, ugly and definitely a muggle house, he was not happy. No, it would be understatement to say he was unhappy. He had not went through life and death situation for to be just dumped in the muggle world. Oh no, he would be having words with the Beings, as soon as he could make that happen.

After looking around, he was somewhat pleased to see that his special trunk had been sent with him. He had packed it with everything he could think of and then some. Clothes, food, medical supplies… His books and scrolls, writing tools and of course, his favorite weapons. He also had money in it. No way in hell would he be living in the orphanage. He would just take his Soul-mate and be on his way to Gringotts.

Tom had just gotten out of his weeklong confinement in the basement, when he felt something, like an electric shock. He could not say why yet, but as he walked across the floor and quickly glanced through the window he saw small figure. He stopped at once and took a better look. Yes, there was someone standing in front of the gate and it looked like a girl. He could feel the same strangeness coming from her that he could faintly fell coming from himself. He needed to know what it was.

"I'm going out." Tom stated and walked out. It was only a few meters to the gate and as he walked closer to the girl, he could hear how she muttered to herself.

"… No way does my Soul-mate and I be living here. As soon as I get a hold of him, we will go to Gringotts and see if we have someplace to go that is not orphanage." The last word was spat out like a curse word. Tom raised his eyebrow. Soul-mate? Gringotts? What an Earth was she talking about? Was she just some crazy-person that was dumped here?

"Excuse me, miss, but what are you talking about?" he asks politely with charming smile on his lips. He knew he was handsome and used it fully to his benefits. Manipulation at is best: put smile on your lips, show respect, even when you want nothing more than stab them repeatedly and always be politely and use manners. So, he was shocked when he saw the same fake smile and the same fake politeness on the girl's face.

"Oh, don't mind me, mister. I will be gone soon. Could you perhaps tell me if Tom Riddle lives here?" was the girl's answer.

Toms face became plan after hearing the girls question. Why would anyone want to know where he was? No, more like demanded to know where he was. He was suspicious. No one liked him at the orphanage. They feared him, and he enjoyed it. It made him fell powerful and in control. Sure the Matron would blame him on everything and would lock him in the basement but he would always get his revenge on them as soon as he could. So no, he did not trust the girl who not only knew his name but also about nonsense. Even more suspicious was, that she had the same aura that he had.

"Why do you need to know that?" he asks with plank voice.

Mameha squints his eyes and watches the boy with equally plank face. He only has seen one picture of his Soul-mate and even then it wasn't really good, not to mention Tom had already begin to mutilate his soul and his body had started to look more like a humanoid creature than human that he was. But he couldn't deny that the boy in front of him was looking suspiciously like his Tom…

"You are Tom Riddle." Mameha stated. "I wish you had just told me so, so we could have already been gone of this horrible muggle place. I detest it greatly. Now, what are you waiting for? Invitation? Come here, take my hand and we will be going." Mameha continued. He didn't want to stay here second more than he absolutely needed to.

Tom was floored. How in the names of everything he held scared had the girl known that he was Tom? Quick look in her eyes and he found himself block out of her mind. Block! Him! He had used the skill to his benefit a long time and now, when he needed it more than ever, he couldn't do it. He started panic a little.

"Do not go into shock now, Tom. You can have your meltdown after we leave this place, so hurry up and come here." Mameha said with finality in his voice. "I am sure, that there isn't anything you would want to keep," he continued sarcastically.

When Tom was still hesitating, Mameha took a step towards him, crapped his hand, took a step back and laid his other hand on his trunk. The moment it touched it, they were gone.

Once Mameha and Tom reappeared, Tom fell to his knees and emptied his stomach on the cobblestone alley. Mameha watched his Soul-mate with unreadable eyes. After Tom stood up and was able to move, he demanded to know what Mameha had done.

"That was portkey. One of three instant ways of moving in Wizarding world. The other two are floo and apparition. You will get use to them soon enough. Right now, we need to go Gringotts and get your inheritance ritual done, so you can get out of those clothes and we can see if there isn't house we can use until we go to Hogwarts." Mameha explained sarcastically. He wasn't about to chance his behavior for anyone. If Tom had problems with it, then he better be saying so.

And so, Tom was dragged towards huge, white marble building. He had just enough time to see some sort of warning next to the double doors before the girl continued to drag him in. He could not believe his eye and only years of showing no emotions saved him for embarrassing himself right there and then.

While Tom was busy looking everything around him, Mameha was getting more and more impatient. The line he had dragged Tom with him, was slow to move. He sighed. He wanted so many things and he needed them now. It took over an hour before it was their turn. That had given Tom enough time to collect himself and act like he knew exactly what was going on around him.

Teller sneered at them. What little patience Mameha had had, it was gone now and his magic leap and squeezed the goblin. Eyes bulking and, on the verge, to pass out teller asked what they needed in wheezing voice.

"I need someone to escort me and my companion to Master Grimblood." Mameha said sneering.

"Swiftblade will take you," the teller said as he signs to the goblin near him. Said goblin was sweating but could not refuse, and so, took Mameha and Tom trough long hallways to the double doors of red in color.

"I will just inform Master Grimblood and…" Swiftblade started but Mameha didn't listen and just walked right in.

"It worked then, My Lady." Was all Gerald said with large smile that showed more teeth than was necessary and got back smile just as terrifying from Mameha.
