Chapter 18: Recovery
Pyxis' P.O. V.
The three of us stayed like that for a while, talking about nothing in particular and devouring the sweets I bought. The sun eventually set and was replaced by the stars. This shifted our conversation to the stars. It seems that Draco and I both have obsessions about constellations. ("Must be a Malfoy and Black thing." Blaise pointed out, smiling.) The two of us could only shrug.
"You know, Raine, you've never given me my Christmas gift yet." I could practically feel his smirk.
"I'm sorry, dear, but I believe our deal is you have to give me your gift before I give you my super awesome gift."
"Wait. You actually found something to give him?" Blaise looked at me incredulously. "Because if you do I would be bloody proud. Admittedly, I stopped thinking what to give Draco every Christmas years ago." I smirked.
"I've actually had this idea for a while now. It's perfect, Blaise. You will be mindblown with this gift. Recent events made it possible for me to procure it."
"Care to share? Maybe I can finally give Draco another Christmas gift after 6 years." Blaise poked my side. I swatted his hand away.
"Be creative, Blaisey. I'm sure you'll manage." The clock chimed, signaling dinner time. Blaise stood up, followed by Draco. Then the two held out both their hands, which I used as support in standing up. I dusted my clothes off and was surprised when I turned back to the two, Blaise is crouched down with his back turned to me.
"Seriously, Blaise? A piggyback ride? " I asked, raising an eyebrow at him.
"Let's make the most of our time together, Butterfly! Stock up on your best memories." I laughed and ruffled his hair before hopping on his back.
"Race you to the Great Hall, Draco!" Blaise and I yelled as he started running. We laughed, partly at how in sync our minds are, and the other half because Draco is struggling to catch up while yelling about detention. We just ignored him while Blaise ran faster.
We arrived at the Great Hall laughing so hard that the few students who arrived early turned to see wht the commotion was about. Draco's entrance didn't make our situation less funny. He entered, still running, and cannot stop himself even whe he saw us directly in front of him. We ended up in a tangled heap on the floor when Draco collided with us. The Gryffindors and some of the first years laughed at our predicament, while the closest Hufflepuffs helped us stand and regain our balance.
I told the two that I'll see them tomorrow and went to sit on my usual place at the Gryffindor table. Most of them were still laughing, the twins and Lee's being the loudest. The Golden Trio arrived about a minute later and was confused why everyone was laughing. Of course, Fred and George told them what exactly happened making me blush a bit.
"What was that about, Isis?" Harry inquired, still laughing.
"Just having a bit of fun." I smiled a bit sheepishly.
When all of us were settled, we started eating dinner. It was all fine, a bit noisier than usual even, until the subject of vacation was discussed. Of course the boys were all excited about the Quidditch World Cup and eventually asked if I could visit during vacation.
"Yeah, Isis! Then we could all watch the game together!" Ron exclaimed.
"Wait, where are you going to stay this vacation, Isis?" Hermione asked, worried.
"I've thought about that too. Are you allowed to stay with him now?" I sighed.
"About that, I actually have something to tell you all." I explained the whole situation, why and and when I'm going to leave, and how I'm going back. They were very upset, but eventually accepted the fact once they found out the consequences of my prolonged stay here.
The mood dropped considerably that the other happenings around the Gryffindor table toned down. Which is quite the spectacle because we were so noisy earlier.
I caught Draco staring all the way from their table. He eaised an eyebrow, asking if everything is fine; to which I replied with a smile and a nod.
"Hey, Isis." I turned to the twins. They shared a look. A look that I can't help but admire when I see. The look that connects Fred and George. A look that promised trouble.
"We have a plan." Fred grinned.
"And we need your help." George continued.
"And it's going to be awesome." I finished. We high-fived and those who saw the encounter looked a bit scared.
"Now where's Lee?" I looked around trying to find the mop of curly hair.
"He's off gathering materials." I laughed.
"It's going to be an awesome day tomorrow." I repeated.
