Last Chapter... Rachel's POV...
"See you tomorrow?" Santana asked her,
"Of course," Rachel replied, "Text me if anything life-changing happens," She half-joked,
Santana scoffed, "Yes, mom,"
Rachel raised an eyebrow at her, "Goodbye, Santana," She said in a sing-song voice, stepping out of the car but holding the door open,
"Bye, Rach," San replied softly, "Don't kill us!" She joked.
Rachel's POV
"Honey, did you hear what we said?" Hiram asked her, both her fathers looking at her with half-amusement, half-concern,
"Sorry, dad, I zoned out for a minute there," She apologised, "What was it that you said?"
"We're visiting your Great Aunt this weekend," LeRoy repeated, "We thought you might like to stay here," He offered,
Rachel shivered at the thought of her Great Aunt Mildred. An awful lady who rarely had a nice word to say about anyone, except her fathers.
"I think that would be for the best," She agreed,
Hiram chuckled, "Don't worry, we'll be back before you know it," He assured her,
Lightbulb.
"Hey, seeing as you'll be gone for the weekend..." She trailed off,
Her father sighed, "How much?" He joked,
"I don't want money, daddy, I just was wondering if I could invite the glee club around on Saturday Night for a sleepover?" She asked her fathers,
Hiram and Leroy glanced at each other, Hiram nodding after a moment,
"Of course, honey," Leroy replied, "Just make sure you keep the house tidy by the time we get back and we'll be fine," He added,
"And no alcohol," Hiram warned,
Rachel smiled, "Of course not, dad, most of the glee club doesn't even drink," She responded,
He raised a sceptical eyebrow, but nodded, "Well as long as it's not under this roof," He said,
"It will just be a sleepover, truth or dare and stuff like that," She assured,
"We trust you," LeRoy replied, smiling softly at his daughter,
Rachel laughed internally. It's not like she wanted to break her fathers' trust, but she wasn't really a kid anymore; a little alcohol wouldn't go amiss. Plus, Santana would be thrilled.
"Guess what!" Rachel chirped when she saw Santana in the hallways the next day,
Santana eyed her suspiciously, "What...?" She replied slowly,
"My dads are going to my aunt's weekend, meaning I have the house to myself and I'm throwing a Glee party!" She squealed,
Santana stared back at her, "No, nu-uh, not going to happen, remember the last Rachel Berry House Party Train-Wreck Extravaganza?" She whisper-shouted incredulously, trying not to draw attention to them,
"It won't be like that," Rachel assured, "Come on! I haven't had a drink since we got here and I'm betting you haven't either," She said coaxingly,
Santana tilted her head slightly, basically proving Rachel's point,
"It will be fun..." Rachel sang, "Plus, I don't think we spent enough time with our friends in our final months here the first time around, if we get to change that I want to," She argued,
The Latina raised an eyebrow, "It won't be like last time?" She asked suspiciously,
"Of course not," Rachel replied,
Santana sighed, conceding that she had no choice,
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Rachel squealed, hugging her friend excitedly, "It'll be worth it, trust me," She assured,
Santana grumbled under her breath, but Rachel could tell that she was just as happy as she herself was,
"Anyway, can I get a lift home?" Rachel asked, "My dad dropped me off," She explained,
Santana nodded, "Of course," She replied,
"See you at lunch!" Rachel chirped, walking down the hallway with a slight skip in her step.
Santana's POV
"I'm doomed," Santana muttered to herself, throwing her hands up,
She didn't know about Rachel, but the last RBHPTWE had been, well, interesting... She wasn't eager to repeat the events from that night, to say the least.
She shook that thought out of her head. Thinking about it would just jinx everybody.
"Boobs McGee!" Coach Sue shouted from the end of the corridor, leading Santana to roll her eyes, "My office, now!" She ordered before disappearing back into her office,
Santana cursed; what had she done to deserve to an audience with Coach Sue? The universe was against her, wasn't it?
She strutted down the hallway and walked into Sylvester's office without knocking,
"Yes, Coach?" She said coolly,
Sue leaned forward in her chair,
"You're still friends with the hobbit, am I right?" She asked, straight to the point,
Anger flashed in Santana's eyes, "You do remember our agreement, do you not? I stay friends with Berry and you get to keep your three best cheerleaders, and trust me when I say I meant that," She replied coldly,
Coach Sylvester smirked slightly, "Feisty as always, Lopez, but this isn't about that agreement,"
Santana's expression relaxed and morphed into one more of confusion,
"You see, I know the Smurf is talented, and if you never repeat that outside of this room, that would be swell. As I was saying, Berry has talent, and if you see enough in her to be her friend, then I believe that I may have, uh, slightly misjudged her," Sue explained,
It was Santana's turn to smirk, "You're not one to admit you're wrong, what changed?" She queried,
"That's not what's happening," Sue assured, "I am merely suggesting that I see a space for Streisand on the Cheerio's, and you're going to be the one that gives her the uniform," She elaborated,
Santana raised her eyebrows in surprise, "You want her to be a Cheerio?" She asked, double checking that her hearing hadn't gone crazy,
"Exactly," Sue replied, "Now we're on the same page, here's her uniform and schedule," She said, handing over a very familiar rectangular box,
Santana looked at it suspiciously, "If you're trying to trick her..." She warned, leaving the threat hanging,
"Don't worry, it's not a trick," Sue assured, and for some reason, she chose to believe her,
"Tell Rachel that she needs to come to practice ten minutes earlier than scheduled so you, Stretchmarks and Tweedledum can fill her in," Sue instructed,
"Yes, Coach," She confirmed, realising that it meant that all four of them would have to arrive early,
"And tell Rachel to come here with her answer at the start of lunch, which had better be yes," She added,
Santana paused, "I'm sorry?" She replied questioningly, convinced she had heard Coach Sylvester use Rachel's name,
"I said, she has to come here and tell me her answer, at the start of lunch, which had better be a yes," Sue repeated slowly, "Clear?" "Crystal," Santana muttered, turning on her heel and holding the box very carefully as she stalked down the halls to her locker.
She put the box in there and closed it; she was planning on giving it to Rachel at the start of lunch so she had time to go to Sue's office.
At the start of lunch, she got to Rachel's locker minutes after the other girl had,
"Rachel!" She called out as she saw Rachel walking away from her locker,
Rach turned around with a smile, walking back towards Santana as Santana met her in the middle,
"What's up?" She asked,
"Come with me," Santana said, grabbing her hand and dragging Rachel around the corner to where her own locker was situated,
Truth be told, Santana was completely unsure of how Rachel would react to it. Sure, Rachel might like the idea of popularity, but she had also seen it working cruelly against her friends. Though now that they were in Senior year, the cliques had all calmed down, and there wasn't as harsh a divide as previously.
"What is it?" Rachel asked curiously, "Is it good or bad?" She asked warily as Santana finished turning her lock,
"That depends," Santana said truthfully, pulling out the box and handing it over to her friend,
Rachel smiled at her, "What is it?" She asked,
"It's from Coach Sylvester," Santana explained, and Rachel's eyes widened, "It's not a bomb!" Santana rushed to assure, "I checked," She added, "Just...open it, okay?"
Rachel looked at her curiously and lifted the lid to the box, gasping loudly when she saw what lay inside.
"Is- no- uh, I- what?" She stuttered,
"It's yours if you want it," Santana confirmed, "Sue wants your answer in a few minutes,"
Rachel stared at the box, "Uh, okay, um, come with me?" She asked hopefully,
"Yeah, of course," Santana responded, linking her arm through Rachel's and thinking it best not to push her for an answer.
Rachel was silent the entire way to Sue's office, obviously thinking hard about her answer.
She knocked on the door to enter, and we heard a faint 'Come in,'
"I'll be a second," She said, still looking confused,
"I'll be here," Santana replied, leaning up against the glass as Rachel walked into Sue's office.
The pair were obviously talking very quietly because as much as Santana tried, she heard nothing.
A couple of minutes later, Rachel walked out of the room with a regretful look on her face,
"I couldn't," She mumbled, "I'm-"
"Don't be sorry," Santana cut her off, "I don't mind either way," She assured her, rubbing her head slightly as she felt it throb,
"Oh, shit," Rachel cursed, wincing and moving her own hands up to her head,
"Shit," Santana agreed, and she felt herself fall to the floor.
The second time around, Rachel took the box from Santana and was not surprised or shocked when she saw its contents. Her face was merely one of determination to not screw up and send them both back in time, well, again.
"Okay, here's hoping all I have to do is say yes," She said to Santana as they arrived outside Coach Sylvester's office,
"I'll be here," Santana said, echoing her words from the first time,
Rachel paused, "Actually, come in with me," She invited, "We'll talk to her together, then we can get past this day and throw the next, um, what did you call it?" She ended questioningly,
"Rachel Berry House Party Train Wreck Extravaganza?" Santana offered, "RBHPTWE for short," She amended,
Rachel laughed, "As if I'm ever going to remember that," She shook her head with a smile, then raised her hand and knocked on the door to Sue's office,
"Come in," Sue called out,
"Hello, Coach Sylvester," Rachel greeted,
"Hobbit, Boobs McGee," She nodded in acknowledgement,
"Berry made her decision," Santana started,
Sue raised an eyebrow,
"I will take you up on your offer," Rachel informed her, "Effective immediately,"
Sue nodded, barely concealing a smirk if you asked Santana,
"I expect both of you to be at practice tomorrow morning at 6:20," She replied,
Santana nodded at her, then nodded at Rachel to leave the room.
They stood in the hallway for a couple of minutes, completely silent, waiting to see if they had done it correctly.
"I think," Rachel said slowly, "We're all clear,"
Santana blew out a long breath, "I think we are," She agreed,
Rachel bounced on her heels, "You know what this means," She sang,
"Yay," Santana cheered sarcastically, secretly smiling internally at how excited Rachel was,
"Come on, we have to go tell the others and plan it out!" Rachel exclaimed, grabbing her hand and pulling her towards the cafeteria.
"Alright, before we tell them, let's make it that nobody brings booze," Santana said, "We'll handle that side of things so the party doesn't get out of hand before it even starts,"
Rachel chuckled, "That's definitely not something senior year Santana would say,"
Santana elbowed her, "Yeah, well senior year Santana was not the smartest kid ever," She agreed,
"I don't know, you sound pretty smart to me," Rachel replied softly,
Santana smiled at her for a second before she felt the moment getting uncomfortable and changed the subject,
"Now, let's go spread the news of the next RBHPTWE," She said, motioning for Rachel to walk ahead of her into the cafeteria,
They walked straight up to the glee table and sat down; Santana next to Britt, and Rachel in between Finn and Kurt,
"Guess what's happening this weekend?" Rachel asked excitedly to the rest of the glee club,
"Is your father buying you a Mercedes?" Sugar replied just as excitedly,
Rachel looked at her in disbelief,
"No," Tina answered, "That's probably your dad," She pointed out, to which Sugar said something about Asperger's,
"You're going on a date?" Brittany suggested with a smile,
"Brittany, Finn and I are dating... It would only be big news if I was going on a date with a different person," Rachel pointed out,
"But what about-" Brittany started, but her eye caught on something behind Rachel and she stopped talking,
"What is it?" Santana asked her confusedly,
Brittany laughed, "Nothing, I just thought I saw a ghost," She replied as if it were no big deal, and the rest of the glee club nodded, just like when Brittany normally said something a little odd,
"A good ghost or a bad ghost?" Santana asked patiently,
Brittany smiled a knowing smile, a weird look for the girl, "A good one," She answered simply, returning her attention to her lunch,
Santana shared a look with Rachel and the girl moved on,
"Okay, seeing as nobody seems to be getting the point at all, I'm going to tell you," She decided, "I'm throwing a party!" She informed them conspiratorially, "It will be just like last time apart from the fact that I will supply proper alcohol, and not wine coolers," She assured,
The glee club all smiled and a couple high fived and shared some knowing looks,
"You're not going to have another gay/straight freak out are you?" Kurt asked Blaine with a small teasing smile,
"I'll see what I can do," Blaine replied in a disgustingly cute tone, which for Rachel to admit really meant something, but she smiled anyway,
"So, proper booze this time?" Noah clarified,
"Proper booze," She confirmed, "I want people to stay for more than five minutes," She joked,
"Nice," He replied, high fiving Sam enthusiastically,
"It's going to be an all night thing, so if you want to bring a pillow or blanket or something that would be advisable," She added,
"Then breakfast will be pancakes, eggs and bacon," Santana informed the group, to which they nodded and smiled,
"Sweet, we'll see you at 7 o'clock tomorrow at Rachel's," She concluded,
"Let's party!" Sam cheered, but quietly so he didn't attract the attention of everyone in the cafeteria.
Rachel's POV
On Saturday evening, Rachel had invited Santana to her house early so as to give the pair time to prepare and set up. Santana had bought some drinks with her, and the rest they had decided to take from Rachel's fathers' liquor cabinet and replace what they had taken after the fact.
"Berry!" Santana called from the other room, "What d'ya want me to do with the cups?" She asked, holding up the red plastic cups questioningly,
"Uh, just put them on the table downstairs and I'll be down in a minute with the rest of the snacks," She advised, and Santana nodded in acknowledgement before walking down to the basement,
"Now," Rachel said to herself, "Snacks," She remembered, walking into her kitchen and looking for some more chips in her cupboard,
"Ooh, throwing a party? Can I come?" A voice asked excitedly from behind her, making Rachel jump,
"Jesus," She exclaimed, spinning around to face Brittany, "You guys have got to stop doing that,"
Brittany just smiled,
"And you know you can't come, Britt," Rachel reminded pointedly,
She shrugged, "Yeah, I know, it would be cool though,"
Rachel smiled, "It would be cool," She agreed, "So, what's up?" She asked Brittany curiously,
The angel shrugged again, "Not much, we just wanted to check in on the both of you," She explained, sitting up on the bench and swinging her legs,
"We?" Rachel replied,
"No, just me," Brittany corrected,
Rachel raised an eyebrow at the correction, but decided to ignore it. It was Brittany, after all, and as much as she adored the girl, she could be a bit... well, everyone knew how Brittany could be.
"Oh, well..."
They chatted about how Rachel was doing for several minutes before the doorbell rang, and Rachel smiled apologetically at Brittany,
"That must be Finn," She told her, "Wait, where's Santana?" She asked confusedly, realising that the Latina had gone down to the basement a while ago and not come back,
"She must have gotten distracted," Brittany said, "I do that all the time,"
Rachel kind of nodded her head sideways in acknowledgement,
The doorbell rang again, startling her slightly,
"Right, I need to get that, so you need to go," Rachel told Britt,
"Have fun with everyone but Finn tonight!" Brittany said in farewell, spinning around and disappearing,
'Did she say 'but'?' Rachel thought to herself confusedly, but she shook it off and walked over to the front door to let Finn inside.
Unknown POV-Earlier The Same Day
"Rachel and Santana are throwing the party," The brunette informed,
"And what's happening to the two of them?" The older blonde asked,
"They were invited," The girl answered quickly, "Same as everyone else,"
"Tell the girls to stay away from them for the night," The older person ordered, "And fix your hair, it's nauseating," They added, looking at the brunette,
The girl and her friend nodded in acknowledgement and left the room quickly.
"Let's hope their ears are working," The person muttered, throwing a dart at the poster on their wall.
A/N: Okay! That's the chapter done! I was hoping to make the ending a bit ominous, so I hope that slightly worked. My writing has felt slightly off to me recently. They make me feel like people are still interested in reading! I'd like to thank everyone so far who has favourited/followed the story as well! Okay, see you next time!-Lauren's Glee Stories x
