Gravyboat of Love
a thanksgiving story
Massie Block sat down at the Spanish woodcarved table, smoothing her Betsey Johnson cocktail dress down so that there were no unwanted creases. She sighed thinking of how this was no regular Thanksgiving dinner. Kendra, her 'loving mother' (at least that's what she wanted everyone to think), was off in Aspen skiing with her dentist, while William, her own personal Daddy Warbucks, was in Paris with his secratary. So there Massie was, having Thanksgiving dinner with Alicia Rivera, her best friend that tried to ruin her reputation 13 times and counting.
"Hola Massie, we are mucho glad to have you here to celebrate this Thanksgiving dinner." Nadia Rivera, Alicia's Spanish ex-model mother said.
"Thank you, Mrs. Rivera." Massie replied.
"Gustov! Our meal right away!" Nadia snapped at one of the many Rivera family servants.
"Right away, Mrs. Rivera." Gustov nodded, then hightailed off to the exquisite kitchen.
Soon, he brought out plates of Spanish food that smelled delicious, but...
"Where is Alicia?" Massie asked.
"Alicia Carmen Rivera! Dinner." Nadia spoke over the intercom.
"Coming. I'm on my way down with Josh." Alicia replied softly.
"Josh?" Massie questioned.
"Yes, Josh Hotz is joining us as well." Nadia smiled, thinking of how hawt Josh was probably.
Thirteen year old Josh was a bit different than twelve year old Josh. Older Josh had a chisled face, a six-pack, and was ah-lawt less scrawny.
"Hey Alicia," Massie nodded to Alicia, "Josh."
Josh turned to Alicia. "What's with the Spanish food?"
"It is much more new-vogue than... turkey." Alicia scrunched up her perfect ski-slope nose at the word 'turkey'.
"Oh-kay then..." Josh muttered.
"So, Massie... what are you doing here?" Josh inquired.
"My mom is in Aspen with her personal trainer and my dad is in Paris with his secratary."
Massie said, putting tracks in her rice with her fork. "And you?"
"My dad is off in Los Angelos with "business" and my mom is in Barbados with her assistant." Josh mumbled.
"Guess we are in the same boat, huh?"
"Yupp."
"Oh-kay... let's eat!" Alicia said breaking the silence.
thirty minutes later...
In the middle of some buh-oring story about looking for a Ralph Lauren purse, Josh gave Massie a little wink. That's all she needed.
"Please excuse me I have to go to the restroom." Massie said.
"Me too." Josh agreed.
"Okay..." Alicia said, then continued.
Massie met him at the second floor bathroom on the right.
"Let's ditch this." Josh said. Massie agreed.
Westchester Diner 9:04 PM.
"Thank God we got away from her." Josh sighed.
"I thought you liked her." Massie said, confused.
"No... I like another Pretty Committee member." Josh said, then looked away dreamily.
"Oh." Massie sounded a bit dissapointed. "Claire."
"No, not Claire..."
"Dylan?"
"Nope."
"Kristen?"
"No, not Kristen."
"Then... who?" Massie's voice cracked.
"You." Josh said then turned to look at Massie straight in the eye.
"Me?" Massie looked puzzled.
"Yes you."
Then he did it. He leaned across the table and kissed Massie right on the lips. In the process he knocked over the gravyboat.
"Oops." He said, embarrassed.
"No...no thanks okay." Massie said, a little dazed.
"I'm glad we did this." Josh said.
"Me too." Massie agreed.
Later, Massie decided that this Thanksgiving was the best Thanksgiving she'd ever had.
