A/N: I don't own Transformers. Damn. =P
I do, however, own this story. No stealing.
I came up with this while watching the G1 episode "Fire in the Sky". I'm sure similar things have been done, but I really don't care. Enjoy!
When the ice fell away to reveal that large white frame, my spark nearly imploded. I conducted a reboot of my optic sensors to make sure that my processor wasn't fragging me over.
Once I realized that he was really there, I kicked my aft into full gear. "Get him out of there. Now."
I couldn't help but flinch at the millions of volts sent through his body. Though they're administered to revive him, I can't help but fell as if I am causing him pain…
When his powerful engines roared to life, I could almost feel their purr inside my spark. I begged Megatron for a cycle alone with Skyfire.
"Why should you have him alone? What are you planning, Screamer?"
"Please, Lord Megatron… I need to know what happened after we crashed."
Perhaps it was the sincerity in my voice, but he relented.
After they were all gone, I moved to his side to grasp his large servo in both of mine.
"Skyfire?"
His beautiful blue optics rebooted, and he shifted so he could glance at me.
"Starscream? What happened- did we crash?" He tried to sit up but I pushed him back down with a gentle servo.
"Yeah. Yeah, we crashed. A long time ago. Skyfire, I'm so sorry! I couldn't find you! You were buried sp deep in this infernal snow… I- I had to… I had to return to Cybertron without you." Lubricants welled up at the edges of my optics. "It's almost been a million years. A vorn. If it makes up at all for what I've done, I didn't finish our research. I couldn't… Not without you."
He took a moment to process everything that I had confessed.
"So long… A vorn? I have missed so much. Do you still remember what you said before we went down?"
Why would he bring this up now? Of course I couldn't remember that. I could hardly remember my way back to Cybertron after I recovered.
"No."
He vented out air in a sigh. "Of course not. It does not matter. What research have you done lately?"
Slag. How do I tell him that I'm not a scientist anymore? "I… I haven't done any research in a while. Not long after I got back to Cybertron, a war started. Scientists weren't in as high demand as soldiers. I became the second in command of the Decepticons."
I could see the disappointment set his faceplates. "Do you enjoy being a soldier? Violence is meaningless, don't you remember? We were peacekeepers all those years ago… What happened to you? You're not the Starscream I remember."
I hadn't expected him to blow up at me like that. "I still second as a scientist."
We fell into distasteful silence after that.
"You loved me."
"What?"
He sat up, and this time, I couldn't keep him down. "Before we crashed, you were certain that we faced death. You told me that you loved me."
The snow swirled around us in a beautifully vicious manner. Neither Skyfire nor I could keep a straight path. Both of us had warnings flashing across our vision saying that our systems were freezing over.
'Skyfire, this could offline us.'
'Don't think like that, Star. We've flown through worse…'
'You're so optimistic, Sky.'
'…'
'Sky?'
'My… Systems are f-failing… Starscream… Going down…'
'Skyfire, you can't! Just hold on! I love you… You have to know that!'
My systems shut down after having directed my attention to my processor, letting my body freeze. Surely, I thought, I can't fall too far from him. I'll find him when the storm lets over.
"Sky..."
His large servo curled up around mine. "You remember."
