Chapter 2 R & R Please!

The gossip was correct, there was a man lying face down on the floor in the sports hall. The woman had kicked him off of one of the bars that she was now leaping across.

Seba had explained the game before to the younger vampires came to the mountain. Basically, two opponents would fight on some thin bars that stretched across two corners of the sports hall. The aim was to knock your opponent off of the bars before they did to you.

Seba looked pleased but remained calm as he watched the young vampires jump down from the bars.

Wester looked amazed, absolutely smitten.

Larten didn't understand him, he just assumed the man was an amateur fighter and he voiced his opinion. Loudly so she could hear. He didn't appreciate that she had humiliated a male in front of his clan. He would have to live in shame.

"Pfft! He must have been an amateur, how could a real man be beaten by a woman? He must have been drunk, or on some kind drug!" He boasted, many other vampires agreeing with him.

"Whatever, Ginger nut!" She shouted at him.

Ginger Nut?

Was that a ginger joke?

"Excuse me?" Larten replied.

"You think you can do better than him? Orange top?"

That was definitely a ginger joke! He thought, and he wasn't even ginger.

"I would never hit a woman." He said, trying to be a gentleman, with was pointless given his earlier comments.

"Well, that's big of you! Copper Nob!" That one got laughs from other vampires.

He ignored them, and her.

Then she was in front of him, he raised his eyebrows.

Then she slapped his face.

His eyes bulged and he growled, the slap had left a rosy red mark on his cheek and he knew they had to fight.

"Okay! I will fight, but enough with the ginger jokes! I am not even ginger!" He exclaimed.

"Are you blind? Or have you never looked in a mirror before?" She asked.

He ignored her and jumped onto the bars.
