Chapter Four
Coruscant

Guardians seek peace through strength

Strength through emotion

Emotion yet control.

Control the magic within

The Force surrounds and brings peace.

The years passed quickly for Harry and Ginny, as did the training for Anakin. While learning from Obi-Wan about the ways of the Jedi and the power through the Force, the Potter's instructed Anakin in the ways of a Wizard. It took them three years of exploring the various worlds of the galaxy, but Harry discovered several magical creatures that were able to be used to give wand cores as well as well as finding several trees to give the wood needed for the actual wand.

During this time, Harry and Ginny learned from Obi-wan as well. A bond formed between the four, the men becoming brothers to one another as Anakin grew while Ginny was a sister to Kenobi and Anakin. After discovering magical cores and wood for constructing wand, wandless magic was taught to Anakin as the boy was too powerful for the non-combative spell work.

At sixteen, Anakin was conjuring and animating objects, dueling with his wand and lightsaber and while Harry could easily beat the boy with both Anakin claimed victory when magic was taken out of the fight. Ginny delved into the world of politics within the republic, though she refused to enter the arena, cultures and languages became second nature while keep her boys in line. A sister-hood developed between her and Padme after the woman's term ended. This was how the strong bond between Anakin and Padme was discovered and was encouraged by both Harry and Ginny. At the beginning of their relationship, Obi-Wan had objected, but Ginny pointed out that Anakin was a student of Magic and not a Padawan of the Jedi. Because of her forceful attitude with her wand and sound reasoning, Obi-wan did not bother voicing his objections again.

During their tenth year, the Jedi Council Knighted Harry and invited him to sit on the Council as the representative of the Magical Order. Though only three trained in magic, Harry knew that there were others curious about it. Master Yoda included, though the older Jedi never accepted Harry's offer to learn to use a wand despite the countless hours of training and meditation they had together.

In the decade of peace, the Potters had uncovered no evidence that a war was approaching but with Ginny's close eye on the political landscape, Palpatine continued to push bills in his favor that kept giving him additional powers, subtle though it was. Rumors that a separate government was forming on the fringes of the Republic began to circulate, dissent within the Senate led by a former Jedi, Count Dooku finally surfaced and Harry realized that this could have been the oncoming war that they had been sent to fight in. After his appointment, he was forced to remind the Council of this fact.

One of the key members within the order resistant to the change Harry and his wife represented was Master Windu, a stickler of the Jedi Code.

"Master Windu, you cannot ignore the signs building with this Separatist group." Harry glared at the master, "I have been asking for the Council to begin preparing for a war and this is in the interest of protecting the innocents of this galaxy. If we are brought into the war, it would be beneficial for the Order if tactics and battlefield healing was taught."

"Just because the Senate is trying to build an army does not concern the Jedi. We are keepers of the peace..."

"Yeah, not soldiers." Harry cut him off, "You've said so before. But you're acting like you'll be given a choice."

"Conscripted you believe, the Jedi will be?" Yoda asked.

"Based on what we've been seeing of this Chancellor, yeah, I think they'd do that. It'd be your duty to help the Republic and if you were not forthcoming in your assistance, that would be a major blow to the Jedi. We're already backed into a corner."

There was a silence through the room before Mace nodded to Yoda, "Very well, because this bill might be passed, you may offer to teach those who might be valuable on the front lines. Focus on teaching the Knights instead of the Padawans. Be mindful of your instruction, Captain Potter, we will ensure there is a member of the Council present for each lesson to monitor the aggressiveness of those learning."

Harry scoffed at the wording from Windu but Yoda changed the topic to prevent Harry from continuing the debate, "Received word on Senator Amidala returning to Coruscant for this vote."

"Yes, she is. We've also word that there is a threat on her life, still." Harry nodded.

"A valuable ally, she is. Protect her, we must."

"I was thinking that we could provide her protection once she arrives."

"An excellent idea." Ki-Adi-Mundi chimed in and then looked at Harry curiously, "How is your student, Captain Potter? Master Kenobi has shared the amazing things that you have taught him in addition to his skill with the lightsaber."

"Well, a person does never stop learning and Anakin's control is amazing with and without a wand. His lightsaber skills surpass mine, which are different based on the style of blade fighting I learned on my planet. While Ginny and I are still able to best him, we have to rely on our magic. If we are given this assignment, it would give him a practical lesson in protection that we have been hesitant to teach him. He is very powerful and when the time comes to fulfill the prophecy, he will bring balance to the Force."

"If he is the Chosen one."

"You're lack of trust, Windu, is very disturbing." Harry glared at the Jedi, "Are you afraid of the change he represents to your order? He is very frustrated with the Council and its treatment of him. You want him trained to be a Jedi, but you hold him at an arm's length. I'm glad that my wife and I were here to be the mentors because I shudder to think of the consequences of his growth and training if he had a mentor like you."

'You and believe yourself..." Mace was cut off by a chime on the door, "Enter."

A young Padawan entered and gave a quick bow, "I was instructed to bring a message, Masters. There was a bombing at Senator Amidala's platform. There are casualties."

"Ginny was going to meet her on the platform with Anakin." Harry was on his feet immediately and ignoring the other Master's apparated with a twist and appeared on the known platform. There was nothing but chaos around him as people were running to tend the fires and recover the bodies. There were seven dead bodies lined up and with a quick glance he recognized that both Padme and his wife were not among the dead. He pulled out his mirror, "Ginny Potter."

"Harry?"

"Are you hurt? Where are you?"

She smiled lightly and chuckled at his concern before looking away, "We're on our way to the 'esteemed' Chancellor's office. I arrived just after the bomb went off and Anakin pulled Padme away from the scene. She and I are here to meet with the dunderhead and Obi-Wan is helping Anakin with his anger. Kenobi is doing his normal concealment with his own emotions though I can still sense quite a bit of anger and concern for our sister. He's going to be snapping soon if I have anything to say about it and maybe he'll talk to Siri about..."

"Ginny!"

"Oh, right." Ginny looked back at the mirror, stopping Padme out of sight to continue the conversation, "Evidence suggests that there is a bounty on our senator and they're trying to keep her from this vote. Did you talk with the Council about additional security?"

"We are already assigned." Harry knew that it was technically not true, but with this attempt on Padme's life, he would be successful in his request.

"Harry, the Council just arrived at the Senate to meet with the Chancellor."

"That was fast." Harry looked around, nobody was paying him any attention, "Where are you?"

She held out the mirror for him to get a visual and with a crack, he appeared next to her. He gave her a quick kiss and then greeted Padme with a friendly hug, "Padme, are you hurt?"

"I'm fine, but Corde was killed."

"I saw." Harry paused, "I'm sorry, we lost a good friend."

The Jedi came around the corner and entered the antechamber of the Chancellor's office and after a quick greeting to the Senator, they entered the Chancellor's chambers. Palpatine was meeting with a few other Senators and after greetings were exchanged seats were taken, "I need answers to this Chancellor, I don't need more security."

"Our sources say that disgruntled miners..."

"What sources?" Ginny cut in, "You really got that information fast considering the attack happened less than an hour ago."

"I'm head of Government, Mrs. Potter. There were also reports before this attack of various organizations that want Senator Amidala dead and therefore, I can make an educated guess on the issue." Palpatine answered.

"And I have my own sources." she answered quickly, "Nothing points to a plot from disgruntled miners."

"Really..." Palpatine's stoic mask was still in place, but Ginny could feel the tolerance of her insubordination increasing everytime she spoke.

"Senator Amidala is actually pretty close in her guess." Ginny continued with a smirk, "Contracts and bounties on a high ranking individual was flagged by my sources and thing are pointing to the Separatists and Count Dooku."

"Count Dooku is too involved in politics to facilitate an assassination, Mrs. Potter." Ki-Adi Mundi cut in, "I don't believe a former Jedi would be behind this."

The rest of the room turned to Ginny despite Mundi's dismissal, "You didn't mention that earlier, Ginny."

"Sorry, Padme. I was on my way to the platform to warn you, but the attack was already in motion." Ginny apologized to Padme quickly.

"I seriously doubt this situation is as serious..." Padme turned back to the discussion in the room.

Harry put a hand on her shoulder, "It is that serious, Padme. She is able to stay with us, Chancellor. The protection of the Order is extended to Padme for the duration of her stay for this vote."

"Excellent, this suggestion is." Yoda nodded, "A good choice, to go with Captain Potter and his wife, it is. Agree to this protection, the council does."

Padme nodded, "I accept, Captain Potter. Ginny, will you be my primary protection again?"

"Absolutely, Padme." Ginny smiled, "It'll be good to have another female in the house."

"Padme!"

Padme Amidala looked at the young man coming to greet them and her smile increased while breaking off her conversation with Ginny, "Anakin! Thank you for your help on the platform."

"I heard you might be a guest for a while at Mansion Potter." Anakin smiled before remembering the circumstances of her arrival, "We will get to the bottom of this threat to you, Padme."

"Anakin." Ginny gently interrupted him, "Relax and remember to breath. Or I'm going to have Obi-Wan lecture you again on controlling your anger."

"Of course, 'mom'." Anakin soured at the idea of sitting for another anger management session, "We already got your room set up and..."

"We're adding a new security ward to your room specific, Padme." Ginny said, "Anakin, you've read about the fidelus, right?"

"Hiding a room or space in another dimensional pocket with a secret keeper. You think the threat is that serious?"

"Padme's alive because of Dorme. We were going to meet her on the platform because I had just heard about the attempt and when they learn of the failure, there will no doubt be another attempt because of the Senate meeting again. Anakin, you and I will be there as protection. Kenobi and Harry are going to begin looking further on the bounty."

"What's the Fidelus?"

Anakin looked at Ginny and after receiving a nod gave a run down on the secrecy of the charm.

"I'll be the secret keep and the only people who will know will be the residents of this house."

"And the chancellor?"

Ginny's eyes flashed angrily at the mention and Padme flinched from the power behind her eyes, "Never going to happen. If we were able, I'd put the entire Temple behind the Fidelus, but the Council won't allow it."

"Weren't you the one telling me to relax a minute ago, Potter?"

Glaring at the nineteen year old he flinched as her wand slipped into her hand, "Do you want to get hexed?"

"No, thank you." he laughed and slipped behind Padme for a moment, "I know better than to poke a sleeping dragon."

"Padme, Palpatine has been increasing his manipulation of the Senate. Harry and I can sense something very dark and sinister surrounding his political mask though we have no evidence to arrest him. You remember the war we were sent here to fight in, right? Recent actions have been pointing to this war, finally and this vote for an army I believe could be the starting point. In addition, there is something leaking information directly to the Separatists and we have all be working to uncover the evidence that it's from Palpatine's office. He is very careful, even with his attempted friendship with Anakin."

"Then we should be careful in our dealings with him." Padme nodded.

"There have been whispers and plans against the Jedi." Ginny continued, "The Sith that killed Qui-Gon was, in my opinion, just the apprentice."

"But there hasn't been another sighting of the Sith for ten years." Anakin looked carefully at Ginny, "You think it's the Chancellor."

His statement was unanswered as Harry and Obi-Wan entered, Artoo following behind them, "Good evening ladies! And Ginny." he added with a smirk towards Anakin.

"Hey!" Anakin threw a wandless stunner at Harry but he deflected it back with a grin, "You had a lot of power behind that one."

"I'll show you power." Anakin began to draw his wand when a hand stopped him.

"You and my husband can finish this later, Anakin."

"We've been looking into that bounty you discovered, Gin." Harry slid on a mask that Anakin rarely saw and the laughter left the room, "It was erased from the databanks while we were looking at the records."

"They're covering their tracks?"

"Our trace took us to a bounty hunter, Zam Wessel." Obi-Wan continued.

"Did you get her?" Anakin stood, "What'd she say?"

"She was planning another attack." Obi-Wan said as Ginny pushed Anakin into his seat next to Padme, "And she's dead. A second bounty hunter hit her with a toxic dart and we couldn't extract the poison in time."

Harry nodded, "All we have is the dart. We'll need to find this other bounty hunter."

"Patience, Anakin." Obi-Wan stopped the boy again, "Stay with the Senator. Harry and I will find him."

"We're going to update the Council in the morning. Right now, we have to put together this Fidelus." Harry looked at Anakin, "Padme's safety is more important than hunting down somebody that's probably already left Coruscant."

"Her safety is more important." Anakin sighed, content in knowing that the woman he had grown to admire and love was staying in the same house.

"Ginny, you're the secret keeper?" Ginny nodded and Harry walked to the room they were going to hide, knowing it would be easier to conceal Padme's room than their apartment given the number of people who knew where they lived. Ginny walked over to him and began to help him with the calculations of the charm and they both smiled at the proximity of Anakin and Padme, "Council isn't going to like that."

Harry chuckled, "It's not like they don't know there's something there. We've only been encouraging it for the last few years."
