Late at night, when all was still, he thinks of her.
How much he misses her.
He spends his days working and scheming to get them all home safely.
Well, all but one.
But this time was her time, when he remembered.
How deeply she loved him, how she humanized him.
And, painfully, how he had pushed her aside as he could not handle her love.
Now she's gone, for good.
He's paid ever since, living the hollow life he would not give up for her.
So, he's dedicated himself to getting them home, though no one suspects his impetus.
