Chapter 39:

I was back at the cottage that I had stayed at for the wedding, and I stood overlooking the beach from the cliff. The wind was blowing through my hair, and I closed my eyes and I could smelt the salty air.

" I wish I could stay here with you forever" I said smiling and turning around to face Draco. He smiled back at me and planted a sweet kiss on my lips.

" And I with you!" I leaned up and kissed him back. We both looked around, and the beach and cottages were empty.

" Does it seem empty to you?" He looked around and apparated to the beach. He looked up at me and shouted.

" What was that?" I just shouted back to him.

" I said I feel empty!" I tried to apparate to the beach as well but I was stuck and couldn't move or use magic. Draco started running toward the lighthouse. " Draco! Draco Wait!" He quickly turned around and looked straight at me.

" It's going to pour down rain!" How could he know that I thought, and tried to move again. I struggled to move then all of a sudden we were both out side of the hall in the pouring rain. I was in my bridesmaid's dress again and he was in his groomsman dress robes.

" What's going on?" I looked around and this all looked familiar and I got a very un easy feeling. I started to cry, and Draco came to wipe my tears from my cheek.

" Don't cry for me, I love you!"

" Then why did you leave?"

I was jolted awake, and wiped the drool from the side of my face. I had been sweating again. Except this time I must have fallen asleep on my desk in the infirmary. I looked around to see if any one had seen me. There weren't many students in there, and the few that were, were passed out in the beds. I put my head in my hands and sighed. I knew I shouldn't have taken the night shift off of Madame Pomphrey these past couple of days. I had been taking on way more hours than I should, and running my self out.

" Miss. Granger!" shouted a student in the door way holding his arm. I looked up to see a 5th year Hufflepuff boy. His arm was bleeding and he looked to be turning purple. I recognized this boy as Cedric Diggory's cousin; Aiden Diggory.

" Aiden what happened?" I ran over to him and ushered him into a free bed. I cast a spell to numb the pain.

" Thank you, It was the Slytherin house, they cursed me because I am such a book worm."

" The whole house?" I found that a bit strange ,but believable.

" Well no, It was Julia Parkinson and her friends Lilac Goyle, and Fuchsia Greengrass!" I couldn't help but smirk to my self remembering all of those times I had to run to the infirmary because of Draco and his idiot friends Crab and Goyle. They would always curse me and play stupid pranks. I hated them for years for it. That is until I got to know the real Draco Malfoy.

" Hmm… Interesting" I thought to myself as I gave him a potion to slowly heal his wounds, a potion to stop the bleeding and a potion to bring his skin color to normal. " Aiden I know this is going to sound really lame, but maybe Julia doesn't hate you as much as you think?" He immediately started to laugh at me. I figured he would do that. I must have sounded crazy, hell if some one would have told me that about Draco I would die laughing.

After I took care of Aiden I decided to make sure everyone else was alright ,but they were all passed out for the night. I very well couldn't go back to sleep, accidentally or on purpose, so I went over charts ,and organized all of the potions, and medicines Madame Pomphrey had. That took the rest of the night since there were thousands of them, but at least it kept me occupied, that and hopping some one else would come in. The next person that came in was Madame Pomphrey herself with two very large cups of coffee at around 6:00 am.

" You look like you had a rough night!" She said handing me the coffee. I shook my head.

" No, quite boring, except for Aiden Diggory coming in because of Parkinson again" She just laughed to herself. I didn't see the humor in it though.

" What did you do about it?"

" I gave him potions to help heal him, it will be about a couple of days before he is completely healed and back to normal. I marked what they were in his chart." She nodded and I made my way out of the infirmary. The only thing on my mind was that I needed to run, so I changed out of my robes and into my running clothes and ran around the grounds.

As I ran through the grounds I passed Hagrid's hut and stopped thinking about stopping in for a visit, but thought better of it because he knew me well enough to know when there was something wrong even if I was able to hide it from the world. I hated that I haven't visited my old friend in a long while. We used to have tea on a daily basis. He must be so disappointed in me I thought. I collected my thoughts and continued running on past his hut, and past the Womping willow. It wasn't until I came back up to the main entrance that I stopped dead in my tracks. At first I thought I was having a hallucination, but then couldn't breath when I realized it wasn't.

" I knew you would be out running!" I stared at him for a minute and just took him in to make sure it was real. Part of me wanted to wrap my arms around him, and the other wanted to punch him, but I did neither. I just stood there struggling to breath, and then ran the other way, away from the man currently haunting me and my heart.

I couldn't believe it, what was he doing here? Did he come here to see me? I didn't know if I should be excited or angry. I was conflicted and instead of going bck to my room I ran to Hagrid's hut. I couldn't take the chance of him following me, Besides I bet He has heard some thing about why Draco is here, Hagrid hears everything that is supposed to go on in this castle.

I knocked three times on his door before he answered. I felt a little awkward for the attire.

" Her Mio nee!" He welcomed me with open arms and I made me way inside as he made us some tea.

" I am sorry I haven't been by lately" I frowned looking at him helplessly.

" Oh, don't you worry your pretty little head about it my dear" He sat down in a chair across from me, and his dog fang came over to us and plopped down at my feat. " Seems Fang missed ya too!" I smiled and patted the dog's head. We made a little small talk for about ten minutes until I heard him sigh.

" What is it?"

" I know there is something bothering you, and I also suppose that is the reason you haven't been by, am I right?" I hated that he was right.

" I'm sorry, I just haven't been ready to talk about it"

" You can talk to me about anything" He smiled touching my shoulder for comfort. " I spoke to Harry the other day!" I perked up hearing Harry's name.

" How is he?"

" He is doing much better, Moody says if he keeps it up, he can actually start his official Auror training." I smiled hearing how great he was doing.

" Say Hagrid, you wouldn't happen to know why Draco Malfoy is here would you?"

" Malfoy!" He said surprised then stroked his chin. " Why would you wanting to know about him?" He gave me that worried paternal look. At that moment I glanced out the window and saw him coming toward Hagrid's hut just moments away. I froze and my eyes got bigger, I felt like I was going to choke on my insides. " Hermione?" I snapped out of it seeing him get closer and closer.

" He coming here!" He turned around to see Draco getting closer to his hut. " I have to get out of here, Hagrid please don't tell him I'm here" I I hid under some blankets.

" Well o' course Hermione, but you got to let me what's going on, with you and Malfoy?" I didn't say anything as I heard his knock on the door. Hagrid walked over to the door hesitantly, looked back at me then opened it.

" Mr. Malfoy…" He looked at him dryly. He was wearing a pair of faded jeans, and a white button down collated shirt, and his hair was a mess with his features more scruffy than he remembered.

" Hagrid" He nodded. " I was hopping you had seen Hermione, do you know where I can find her?" He scratched his head remembering what I had asked about not saying that I was hear.

" I'm sorry Malfoy She hasn't visited me in days, but she works in the infirmary with Madame Pomphrey as her apprentice." I could tell lying made him nervous and I wanted to apologize.

" Yes I suppose I could find her there, but she was just out for her run, and I know she is fast but there is no way she would be back that fast, unless she apparated, but there is no apparated on Hogwarts grounds" He tried to look past Hagrid, but couldn't see.

" How do you know about her morning run's?"

" Oh didn't she tell you, I was in the wedding with her, we spent two weeks together." He cocked his head and looked at him as he looked at Draco as if he had two heads. " You have no idea what I'm talking about do you?" He smirked. " Right" He started to back up. " You wouldn't know, she is probably hiding. Well if you do see her, tell her that I need to speak with her" We both watched him walk back up the pathway, and Hagrid shut the door.

He looked over at me as I pulled the pile of blankets off of me.

" What's going on with you?" He came and sat next to me. I just started to cry sub consciously.

" It's a long story"

" He said he was at the wedding too, no doubt Blaise's best man" I nodded. " Did he hurt you?" I looked up at him, he had hurt me but not in he way he thought. I grinned, and closed my eyes.

" It's more complicated than that? He isn't who you think he is?"

" He is The son of Luscious Malfoy, and he is know for his torturous ways…" I interrupted him before he would go on.

" NO! That's not him, the real him any way. He was trying to live in the shadow in his father, all he ever wanted was love and appreciation from the family that .. Well you know…" I took a deep breath. " Draco was the one person I could rely on these past two weeks except for Ginny of course. When I had went to meet Ginny at the beginning of the two weeks I wanted very much to burry my head in books and just be there when she needed me, and I wanted to avoid Ron and his family it would have just made everything way too awkward. That's what I expected, just not what happened. Draco and I … well at first we had made a truce to put aside our differences for the sake of our friends, if only for just the time we were there, and I agreed. It wasn't until he truly saw how Ron treated me that he and I came up with a plan to make him jealous and make him feel the pain he caused me. Draco and I pretended to be together" I laughed. " Over time we got to know each other better than we ever thought we would. It's like we were never enemies at all how well we fit together. I don't even remember when but after a while I wasn't pretending any more. I really was falling in love with Draco Malfoy." I sobbed a little and then wiped the tears from my face. " Everything was nearly perfect except I found out our little plan actually worked we had made Ron so mental he nearly ruined Ginny's wedding and then proposed to me…again, but then so did Draco… before he … " I couldn't get everything out " He just left… I haven't heard or seen him since then… It's like" I stood up and walked toward the door.

" I cant do this any more , I'm sorry Hagrid. Thank you for listening and I am sorry I can't stay, but if he comes back please send him away." Before He could say anything I was out the door and ran back up to my quarters. My head was spinning why was he here, and why now, and what did he want from me? If I hadn't o worked two consecutive shifts I would try to go to work but I knew fully well Madame Pomphrey would just tell me to leave. I made my way up to the owlry, and decided to stay there and write Ginny. I had to tell her what was happening. She would know what to do.
