Here is Chapter 7!! We finally meet the mysterious James Pembroke, find out who's alive and who's dead and what the heck is happening!! Oh the suspense ha ha.
As the bus pulled up to the corner of 13th and Broadway Annabeth stood up. After tripping multiple times down the street in anticipation and freaking out a bit in the elevator she stood outside apartment 4D. Who could it be? Nico maybe? Malcom? One of the Stoll brothers? Beckendorf? Some one else? Could it even be Luke? And why wouldn't they be happy to see her? She stood and stared at the door, wondering why she was so nervous. When she was able to, she knocked.
"Hello? I'll be there in a minute!" A voice called from inside. It was familiar and not at the same time. She couldn't place it, but she had heard it a lot in the past... It was different though. Less a boys voice then a mans... this was going to be weird. She waited patiently. A few moments later a door opened ajar. "Hello?" the guy asked again. She blinked. The eyes were hidden by dark contacts, the hair was shorter, the face was slightly different, But it was Percy, of that she had no doubt.
"Um.. hi?" she asked. He looked at her a moment. Then he looked as stunned as she must have before his look hardened.
"It's you." he said. "Go away."
"Seaweed brain, what's the matter?" she asked, she wasn't getting this.
"Don't call me that, some one might hear." he said urgently.
"Who Percy? Who might hear?" she asked. He looked furious, then looked around, like Thalia had done and pulled her by the wrists into his apartment.
"Shut up!" he said sharply. He dragged her into the kitchen and set her down on a chair. "What the heck is wrong with you? I haven't seen you in 10 years, then you come prancing up to my apartment, call me seaweed brain and acting like every thing's back to normal!"
"Why isn't it normal Percy? The last thing I remember is July 18th! Eleven years ago!" she said, wondering what was happening.
"You should see a doctor then." he said, sitting down in a chair. "You know we lost."
"What?! How could we have lost?" she asked.
"Well, it's our fault really. You couldn't give up on Luke, and I was hell bent on killing him... and I guess we overreacted." he said, guiltily.
"That's horrible! No wonder Thalia hated me!" she said. "So how's every one else?" Percy gave her a funny look.
"Most of them are dead Annabeth, dead or they've run away and want nothing to do with the gods." he whispered.
"No! Dead? They can't be... who's alive then?" she asked, wanting to hear, but not because she knew the rest were gone.
"Travis Stoll lives in Colorado, he wrote to me. He's been going by the name Conner something. It's risky, but losing his brother really tore him up. Thalia's still alive, you ran into her didn't you? She nearly tore my face off when she saw me." he chuckled, weakly. "Nico survived the war... but they found out about him 5 years ago and now..." he trailed off. Annabeth gaped at him.
"That's it?!" she cried after the word sunk in. "Thalia, Travis, you and me?! What about Grover? Malcolm? Silena? Beckendorf? Mr. D's kid.. Pollux?" she kept giving names until she noticed Percy shaking his head sadly. Then she did something totally unexpected, she threw herself into Percy's arms and sobbed (A/N- maybe not totally unexpected lol), he sat there awkwardly patting her shoulder for a few minutes.
"I could take you there." he offered, getting up.
"Where?" she asked, confused.
"To Camp Half blood. We nearly killed ourselves getting in, but Nico figured it out in the end. He was a smart kid, I never really knew that about him. I mean, he figured out a way to defeat the enemy after the battle was lost and it would have worked... you know, if he hadn't..." Percy seemed unable to say it.
"How long ago was it?" she asked softly. She wondered how old Nico di Angelo lived to be. Well, over 80 technically, but how many of them had he gotten to live?
"Five years, just around his 17th birthday. I wasn't there, he and Thalia had snuck on board the Princess Andromeda and I didn't see them for a week until Thalia came back. She still had Luke's blood on her spear, and she hasn't wiped it off. She won't talk about it." he sighed. "Come on, it's a long drive."
Ohmigosh! Everyone died!! LOL, I know, it gets worse. Dun dun DUN!
