Chapter 15 – Mixed Messages
When I got to the room, I found Garrett and Edward kicked back, watching TV.
"Where are Caius and Demetri?" I asked, foolishly.
Edward rolled his eyes and replied, "We had to kick them out. They went up to Caius' room."
Garrett scrunched up his nose. "I don't think you would approve of them making out on your bed and neither of us were particularly interested in watching them go at it."
I laughed, "I had a feeling they would hit it off. When I first saw Caius sitting by the pool, I knew that Demetri would drool all over him. I'm just glad that he seems to like Demetri too."
"How did the interview go?" Edward asked. "Did he ask about our relationship?"
"No, he didn't even bring it up," I answered with a sigh of relief. "He just stuck to my music and a brief personal history."
"That's good. I've read some of his articles. He's a pretty good reporter. I've never seen him trash someone for no reason. Did he say when the article will come out?"
"No, he just said that it was part of a larger piece that he will be writing about several bands across the country. He did say that he was going to be interviewing the last band next week, so maybe it will come out soon."
Garrett was flipping through the channels, when Edward's phone rang. It was Peter and he was pissed. He yelled at Edward for a few minutes, and then asked to speak to Garrett.
Garrett took the phone and stepped out onto the balcony. He was out there for quite a long time. I was just getting ready to go out and check on him, when Edward stopped me. "Give him some privacy, Bella. I'm sure they have a lot to talk about."
"I just wanted to make sure everything was alright. He's been out there for a long time."
"He'll let us know if there's a problem. Don't worry about him," Edward reassured me.
A few minutes later, Garrett came back inside with a grin on his face. He handed Edward back his phone and said, "Sorry, but the battery is almost dead."
I couldn't help it. I had to ask, "Is everything alright?"
Garrett chuckled, "Yes, he's pretty pissed that Edward ditched the security detail, but other than that he's fine."
"How's his mom?" I knew that Peter had been anxious to spend time with her.
Garrett grinned widely as he answered, "Mean as ever. Peter and his sister have been planning their mom's 80th birthday party for months and now she's refusing to attend the party."
This surprised me. "Wow, his mom is turning 80? How old is Peter?"
"He's only 32. His sister, Carmen, is 47. Their mom waited until she finished her career in the ballet before she got married and had kids. Now she's a mean old lady in a nursing home yelling at her kids for stuff that doesn't make sense. Peter said she has been yelling at Carmen about why she doesn't have any kids."
Edward shook his head. "Doesn't Carmen have two sons?"
"Yes. The oldest is in the Navy and the youngest actually works at the nursing home and sees the old woman all the time."
Edward smiled and said, "At least she's not bitching about the car incident anymore."
Garrett laughed, "Yes, she finally forgot about that one, thank God!"
This piqued my curiosity. "What was the car incident?"
Edward smirked and began the story. "Peter borrowed his mom's car without her permission when he was home from college for the summer. I guess he was about 19 or 20 years old. Anyway, he was really careful to make sure to put it back in the exact same spot that he took it from. She didn't even notice it had been moved. The next day, she picked up some friends for lunch and one of them found a condom wrapper in the backseat. Needless to say, Peter's mom went ballistic."
Garrett was laughing, "Yes, she definitely did. She made Peter thoroughly detail that car inside and out. The entire time he was cleaning, she was screaming about how she would find out the name of the girl he was messing around with and tell her parents what a slut she was. Peter looked sick, he was so embarrassed."
Edward said, "I remember that. I had to pick you up that day. I'll never forget that little woman screaming in the front drive."
"Did she ever find out who it was?"
Garrett shook his head. "No. Peter never introduced any of his girlfriends to his mother. She still doesn't know for sure if he has ever even dated anyone."
I thought about it for a second. "Wait, guys, how long have you all known each other?"
Edward explained, "Peter and Garrett lived in the same neighborhood in Chicago. Aro and I went to the same private school. I met Gianna and Demetri in college."
Garrett said, "I moved to the house across the street from Peter when we were both 16 and we have been best friends every since."
Edward continued, "When I was a kid in junior high, some bullies started giving me a hard time on my way to and from school. One day, they were being especially mean and Peter and Garrett stepped in and defended me. I thought they were the bravest guys I had ever met because those bullies were not small kids. By the time I got to the point that I needed personal security, Peter and Garrett were just getting out of the Marines, so I offered them the job."
"That's really great that you have all known each other so long. You're practically family."
With a nod Garrett agreed then said, "Hey guys, I'm going to call it a night. We need to get some sleep if we are going to get out of here at a decent hour tomorrow."
We all took turns changing clothes in the bathroom. Garrett let Edward borrow a pair of sleeping shorts and a t-shirt to sleep in. Edward wasted no time snuggling up close and holding me tight, like we were crammed in the tiny bunk on the bus.
We were all up and our stuff was loaded in the car by 10:30 am, but we still had not seen or heard from Demetri. Edward tried his cell phone, but got no answer. Garrett tried to get the lady at the front desk to tell us which room Caius was staying in, but she refused. After arguing about it for almost 20 minutes, she finally agreed to call the room and tell Caius that his guest would to have to find his own way to the beach house if he wasn't in the parking lot in 10 minutes.
Demetri came running out to the car five minutes later carrying two suitcases. "Caius is coming with us," he announced to no one in particular. He turned to Edward and said, "I can't leave without him. It's too soon. I need more time with him."
Edward cocked his eyebrow and teased, "You are actually going back for seconds? He must have some wicked sexual skills to convince you to let him tag along."
Demetri actually growled at Edward. "I'm not 'letting him tag along.' I've been begging him all morning. He finally gave in. As for the sex, I wouldn't know. We never actually got that far. We did a lot of talking and a little making out, but we fell asleep before we got to that point."
Edward looked skeptical. "You mean to tell me that you are dragging this guy all the way to the beach house and you haven't even fucked him yet? That seems kind of risky, don't you think? I mean, what if he turns out to be a total tool and you can't stand each other?"
"I know it's a risk, but he's worth it," Demetri said defensively.
"If you say so. I guess we will have to see how we're going to fit in that car."
We had no problem fitting Caius' luggage, and mine and Garrett's duffle bags in the trunk, but it was much more difficult fitting all five of us in the little car.
I was the only person that was supposed to drive, according to the contract with the rental agency, but there was no way we could fit three men in the tiny backseat, so I ended up sandwiched in the middle. Garrett and Edward had the broadest shoulders, so they sat up front. That meant I was stuck sitting in the back between Demetri and Caius. Great!
The drive to South Padre Island was quite possibly the longest seven hours of my life. I barely had room to breathe and I had to listen to Caius and Demetri coo over each other the entire trip. I would have offered to switch with one of them so they could sit beside each other, but I figured they would just end up making out the entire way there and I didn't exactly feel like being a witness to that.
When we left Austin, the surrounding countryside was beautiful. It had rolling hills covered with wildflowers, but soon it became farm after farm. It made me realize just how good we had it on the bus. At least we had something to do other than watch cows.
Edward called Aro when we were almost there to ask if we needed to pick up any supplies on our way. Aro suggested we get some firewood and gave Edward a list of groceries. Edward diligently wrote the items on the back of a receipt he pulled from his pocket. Just before hanging up, Aro told him to add beer to the list.
We ransacked the grocery store like a pack of wild animals. By the time we were done, we had all of the requested items and much more. I picked up some steaks and ribs to grill and the items necessary to make some of my favorite homemade pies.
While we were waiting in line to check out, Edward picked up one of the tabloid magazines with his picture on it. The caption on the front said, "Edward Cullen - Married only one month and already caught cheating." It had a picture of Edward smiling at a blond woman who was standing a little close.
He handed me the magazine. "Where do you think this was taken?"
I laughed and said, "How would I know? You're the one having an affair. Don't you know where you were?"
He shrugged his shoulders and said, "She must not have been very good, because I don't remember it."
Garrett leaned over and looked at the picture. "You were signing autographs in the mall in Vegas. That's the fountain in the background."
He pulled me in for a kiss and said, "Well, they haven't determined which day in Vegas we supposedly got married, so I may not have been cheating after all."
I laughed, "Is it considered cheating when I was standing right beside you? We were both standing there signing autographs, Edward. If you had time to have an affair in the middle of a shopping mall, with me standing right beside you, then you must be better than I thought. Maybe that's how you managed to marry me without me having any knowledge of it."
We filled the trunk with the groceries and headed to the beach house. It was much bigger than I expected. It was up on stilts, of course, with a carport big enough for four cars underneath. It had a nice sized kitchen, a large living room, large dining room, a wraparound porch, six bedrooms, five bathrooms, and a game room with a sleeper sofa.
Marcus and Heidi had claimed one of the bedrooms, Aro and Gianna had another. The two security guards were sharing a room with two twin beds in it. Jane took a room with two twin beds as well. That left two bedrooms and the game room open. Edward checked the available rooms and picked one that was small but close to the bathroom. Garrett chose the gameroom because he thought Caius and Demetri would appreciate the privacy of a bedroom with a door. His other option was to share a room with Jane. Garrett said he didn't trust her enough to sleep in the same room with her.
Edward went outside and grabbed our bags off of the bus and put them in our room. "Hey, Aro, where's Glenn?"
"Some young chick came by and picked him up a couple of hours after we got here."
Edward frowned. "Really? Who was she?"
Aro shrugged his shoulders, "I don't know. She spent the entire time that she was here talking to Mike. Before she left, he got her number. Unfortunately, Jane saw and freaked out. Next thing I know, Mike and the guys climb in a cab and leave."
"Did they say they were coming back?"
"Yes, Mike told Heidi that they were going to play a few gigs and would be back before we leave."
"Just as long as they make back in time." Edward said as he went into the room to unpack. He didn't seem all that concerned.
"Well, watch out for Jane," Aro warned. "She's on a rampage. She is positive that Mike ran off with the chick that took Glenn."
"I don't blame him if he did. I sure wouldn't want to hang around if she was pissed off at me."
It was already getting late, so we decided to order pizza and have a few beers. It was nice to see Garrett kick back and have a beer with us. With the other two guys on duty all week, he could enjoy his time off.
Demetri and Caius surfaced long enough to consume some pizza and then disappeared back into their room for the rest of the night. Marcus pulled out a bottle of tequila after dinner and filled some disposable plastic shot glasses, while Heidi carried in salt and lime wedges.
"I would like to make a toast to lazy days, peaceful nights, and finding happiness. All house rules apply, of course."
I watched the others to see what they were doing. I sprinkled some salt on the side of my hand, near my thumb. I licked the salt off of my hand, swallowed the shot, and bit down on the lime. It looked easy when they did it, but for me the simple three-part process was a bit complicated. I ended up knocking more of the salt off of my hand and onto my shirt than I got in my mouth and almost choked on the tequila. The only think I did successfully was bite the lime, but it was so bitter, I made a funny face.
Gianna laughed, "I think Bella needs a do over!"
Aro poured another shot for me and said, "House rules. You have to take another drink when you are caught drinking sloppy. It's called a do over."
Heidi spoke up, "You also have to do a shot if you say any word, slang or not, that could be used to describe…" she pointed to her boobs, butt, between her legs, and Marcus' crotch.
Edward put his arm around me and said, "You also have to do a shot if you say any word that could be used as slang for sex."
Everyone yelled "SEX!" and pointed at Edward.
He laughed and shook his head. "I was just explaining the rules. It doesn't count." They wouldn't let him off the hook, though, so he ended up doing the shot anyway.
They already had the Wii set up, so Heidi turned it on and started up a game of bowling. Jane came out and suggested that all of the women should play against each other, then all of the men should play, then the winners of each group would play to determine the champion.
Gianna took a minute to teach me how to play the game before we started. The guys acted as our cheering section as we bowled. I am pretty sure they were having just as much fun watching us as we were having while playing.
Edward laughed at me when I missed a pretty easy shot, so I called him an asshole, which caused everyone to yell "ASS" and point at me.
My reaction to being busted breaking the house rules was to mumble "Fuck!" under my breath, but I got busted for that, too so I ended up having to do two shots. By the time they kicked in I was feeling no pain.
Jane kicked all of our asses in bowling and was bragging about it the entire time the guys played. Garrett won against the guys, so he played against Jane. He beat her by five pins, causing her to stomp off into her room for the night.
Edward, Aro, and Garrett suggested we all move into the dining room and play Texas Hold'em, since we were in Texas, after all. We found some poker chips in a cabinet and used them instead of real money. Once I learned how to play, it was a lot of fun.
During the course of the game, several people had to drink for breaking the house rules, so we were all getting pretty toasted.
Gianna asked, "Bella, where exactly are you from? You always say 'a small town in Washington State,' but you never say where."
"I'm from a town called Forks. It's right on the edge of the Olympic National Forest and kind of in the middle of nowhere. It's so small that if you want to go to the movies you have to make the hour long drive to the next town, Port Angeles. The nearest Wal-Mart is literally further away than the moon."
"Wow, that is in the middle of nowhere," Gianna said.
"Hey, while we are on the topic of personal info," I mentioned, turning to Aro, "Why don't I ever see anything with your last name on it, Aro? Are you trying to be like Cher, Madonna, and Bono? So popular that only one name is necessary?"
Aro laughed, "No, it's nothing like that. I just hate my name, that's all. Aro is actually my initials."
"It can't be that bad. What is your real name?"
Aro stood up and took a bow. "Arthur Roman O'Malley the fourth, at your service."
I bit my bottom lip. "Arthur O'Malley isn't a bad name, but it sounds more like a grandfather than a guy in his twenties. You don't even look like an Arthur."
"I thank you, my dear." Aro took his seat. "I have been using my initials since I was eight years old."
Gianna said, "I didn't even know his name was Arthur until the day we got married. I thought Aro was his first name. I knew from looking at his bills that he kept on his desk that his last name was O'Malley, but they all were addressed to A. O'Malley, so I didn't think anything about it."
"Wait, you had to look at his mail to find out his last name?" I asked.
"Yes. I was too shy to ask."
Aro interrupted, "And I was too stupid to offer the information."
Gianna laughed, "No, you were too horny to think about it." She turned to me and added, "He was by far the horniest guy I have ever dated. He wanted it all the time. He even tried to get me to give him a blowjob in my parent's living room when I took him home to meet them."
"Hey, I was nervous and it helps me calm down," Aro interjected in self-defense.
Edward turned to me with a gleam in his eye and said, "Hey, Bella, I'm feeling a little nervous. Do you think you can…"
"Don't even think it, buddy," I huffed, giving him a playful shove.
Everyone laughed as Edward turned to Aro, shrugging his shoulders. "Sorry, dude, that line doesn't work for me either."
Aro laughed and said, "I've learned my lesson since then."
Edward's eyebrows shot up. "Oh really?'
Aro said, "Definitely. I know the trick now."
He leaned over and whispered something in Gianna's ear. She turned and kissed him, saying, "I think it's time for bed."
Edward turned to me and said, "I'll agree with whatever he said, or do whatever he promised to do, if you'll agree with her that it's time for bed."
I laughed, "You don't even know what he said. What if he committed to something you are uncomfortable with?"
"Oh, Bella, I assure you there is nothing that he could have promised her that I am not comfortable with, or capable of doing."
I think I melted in my seat at that moment. I felt my pulse start beating faster. He licked his lips and moved in slowly like he was going to kiss me, but at the last minute, he changed direction and bit my neck, just below my ear. I let out a moan as my eyes threatened to roll into the back of my head.
Edward turned to Aro and asked, "So, what have I just committed myself to doing?"
Aro gave me a wink and told Edward, "I promised her that I would let her sleep all night long without having to touch me sexually in any way."
Edward's jaw dropped. "Bull shit! Please tell me that you didn't just trick me into NOT getting laid tonight."
Gianna laughed, "He's just giving you shit, Edward. He promised to let me watch him handle himself while he licks me until I beg for it."
Edward looked confused for a minute. I could tell he was trying to figure out the logistics of the maneuver Gianna described, so I leaned over and whispered, "You on your back, stroking yourself, while I ride your tongue until I can't stand it anymore and beg you to fuck me hard and fast."
Edward actually whimpered, and to get him more worked up I took his earlobe into my mouth and gave it a little suck before letting it slip between my lips, making a soft popping sound.
Edward moaned, "Fuck, Bella! It's bedtime right fucking now!"
He jumped up, grabbing my hand and dragging me toward the room. I looked around and noticed everyone else had disappeared. We didn't even make it all the way into the room before he had his shirt off and was undoing his pants. As I closed the door behind us, he was busy kissing me wildly and pulling at my clothes. He somehow managed to get us both completely naked by the time we made it to the bed.
He stretched out across the bed. "Come here, beautiful, I want you to come on my tongue."
He reached over and grabbed me, pulling me onto the bed and positioning me effortlessly. I was on my knees, with my legs spread apart, near the head of the bed with my back to the headboard. He leaned back, on the bed in front of me and slid his head underneath me. He grabbed me by the thighs and pulled me down, so I was positioned directly over his mouth. He held my thighs in place as his tongue worked its magic on me.
It felt so good that I started grinding against him. Once we established a comfortable rhythm, he let go of my thigh with one of his hands and started stroking himself. It was quite possibly one of the most erotic things I had ever seen in my life. I was mesmerized by the sight of his hand sliding up and down his shaft as the muscles in his stomach and ass clenched.
My mouth watered as a drop of clear liquid formed at the tip and started to trickle down the side. I started to lean forward with the intention of licking it off, but he stopped me.
"No, beautiful, if you wrap your lips around my cock, I'm going to cum down your throat and I would really rather wait, so I can pound this delicious pussy."
Somehow his words got me even more worked up. I sat back up, so he could reach me better. This gave him room to slide the hand that was still holding my thigh, between my legs to rub my clit while Edward lapped at my opening, sending me spiraling into an earth shattering orgasm. As my body shook with pleasure, I watched Edward stroking faster and I knew I had to have him inside me.
"Shit, Edward, I need you to fuck me… Please, Edward…"
In an instant, Edward shot up from under me and spun me around, so I could grab the headboard to brace myself. "I thought you'd never fucking ask!"
He wasted no time lining himself up and burying himself deep inside me, causing us both to cry out in pleasure. His pace was hard and fast, and I loved every minute of it. He had one hand fisted in my hair and the other holding my hip firmly as he pounded into me. The room was filled with the sounds of flesh on flesh muffled by our grunts and moans.
"Oh fuck, Edward, don't stop! I'm… I'm… Fuck!"
Edward followed me over the edge a few seconds later, screaming my name. We collapsed onto the bed and fell into a deep sleep.
I awoke the next morning, to breakfast in bed. Edward had made sausage and eggs. They were delicious. After breakfast, Edward went downstairs with the others to help set up the volleyball net, while I slipped into my new bikini. I went down to the beach to lay out in the sun, but Edward insisted I play volleyball with them. I tried to tell him that I completely sucked at it, but he insisted anyway. I spent most of my time chasing down the balls that I missed. I only hit the ball occasionally and never scored a point.
Jane came out when we were in the middle of our second game. She shot Heidi and Gianna dirty looks then marched off down the beach.
I was annoyed with Jane's pissy attitude, and asked Heidi, "What the hell is her problem?"
Heidi answered, "She has the room right beside yours, so she gets to listen to you fucking the guy she wants."
"That explains why she hates me, but it doesn't explain why she's being a bitch to everyone else."
"First off, she is always a bitch, but she is being especially bitchy to us because she thinks we should be giving you the cold shoulder. She can't believe we didn't stand up to Edward and insist that he not invite you to come. She tried telling him that it was a band only vacation and you, Glenn, and Mike's band weren't invited, but he ignored her, so she told us that we should make you so uncomfortable that you'd want to leave."
"That's silly. She thinks you should hate me just because she hates me? What is this, junior high? Come on. We're supposed to be adults here."
Heidi laughed, "I know. That's why we ignored her. She'll get over it eventually. She always does."
The game ended, so Edward came over to where we were talking and scooped me up into a hug. I squealed as he spun me around in a circle. "What's that for?"
"I don't know. I just wanted to have you in my arms. Come swim with me?"
We waded out into the chilly water, holding hands. We went out until the water was high enough that it would sweep me off my feet when the waves came by. Edward pulled me into his arms to keep me from drifting away. I wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist while he kissed me softly.
"I'm so glad you decided to come to the beach house with me," he said sweetly.
"Thank you for letting me come along," I told him. "I'm not sure what I would have done with my time if you hadn't invited me here."
He looked sincerely hurt by my words. "So you came along because you had nothing better to do with your time?"
"No, Edward, I…"
He pushed me away. "That's ok, Bella, you don't have to explain. I shouldn't have assumed that you wanted to spend time with me just as much as I wanted to spend time with you. I guess I just assumed you would want to share a room, too. If you want your own room, I can sleep on the couch."
"No, Edward, I don't want you to move out of our room. I love waking up with you and snuggling with you all night long. I didn't mean that I only came to the beach house because I had nothing better to do. I'm here because you're here, and you invited me. I would have followed you anywhere, just as long as you asked."
He pulled me to him and his lips crashed into mine in a fiery kiss. "Oh, Bella, you don't know how good that makes me feel."
"You can show me later," I teased.
We played around in the waves for a little while, laughing and splashing around, until we decided it was time to go in and apply more sunscreen.
As we made our way toward the shore, we realized that we had coasted further down the beach than we intended, so we had to walk back. We held hands as we walked along the beach. As we walked, we came upon a large party of people. As we got closer, I realized that it was a wedding.
"Look, Edward, a wedding. Isn't that romantic?"
He shrugged his shoulders. "It's not my style."
"Oh really? What exactly is your style then?" I asked casually.
He frowned. "When it comes to weddings, I don't have one. I'm not planning on ever getting married or having kids. My life is too unstable for that."
"Your life can't be that crazy."
"It's way too crazy to take care of a wife and raise kids. Besides, I have no desire to settle down at this point in my life."
"You might change your mind when you find the right girl." I felt a sinking feeling in my chest that I was not that girl. I had already started having those kinds of feeling for him, but apparently they weren't mutual.
He squeezed my hand and said, "I'll let you know if I change my mind, but I seriously doubt it will happen. Some people just aren't cut out to have a family. I'm much too irresponsible and selfish to take care of anyone other than myself right now."
"That's not true. On this tour alone you have taken care of yourself, your band, your security guys, Mike's band, and me," I pointed out. "I don't think you're giving yourself enough credit."
"Is that what you want, Bella? Do you really want to get married to some loser who will make you quit your music so you can scrub dishes in some little house with a bunch of snot nosed brats screaming and fighting at your feet?"
"No, Edward, that's not what I want. I want to find a man that loves me so much that he can't even picture living without me and is supportive of my career choices. We may have a kid or two that we will work together to raise, so they will know love and learn to be respectful, responsible, happy members of society."
He scoffed, "Sounds like a pipe dream to me. Besides, you are way too young to get tied down."
"I'm not looking to get married tomorrow. I just want to do it eventually, that's all. I'm not completely ruling it out, like you seem to be."
"Well, I guess I will go on record as saying I wish you luck with that, though I honestly doubt it will happen like you want," he said condescendingly.
"And I will go on record as hoping that you will someday grow up and change your mind about having a family, though I seriously doubt you ever will," I retorted.
He stopped walking and pulled me into his arms. He kissed me on the nose and said, "Enough serious talk. We have a vacation to enjoy."
We made it back to the beach house and took a long shower together. Edward made sure every inch of me was thoroughly washed, rinsed, kissed, and worked into a frenzy before finally taking me against the shower wall, then washing me again.
Aro, Marcus, and Demetri grilled burgers out on the porch while Caius, Heidi, and Gianna watched. Caius and Demetri were all smiles. I could tell that they were head over heels in love with each other.
Up until our walk on the beach, I thought that Edward and I were in the same boat. I knew that I had already fallen for Edward, and I meant what I said when I told him I would follow him anywhere, as long as he asked, but apparently he didn't feel as strongly for me. Just thinking about it made my heart sink.
I tried to shake off the feelings of hurt and disappointment as I concentrated on slicing onions and tomatoes for the burgers.
Demetri came bouncing into the kitchen. "Those must me some pretty strong onions to bring tears to your pretty brown eyes."
I wiped at the tears, thankful that I had the onions to use as an excuse. "Yes, I hate slicing onions. You sure look happy. How are thing going with you and Caius?"
"Oh, Bella, he's wonderful. I've never met anyone like him. He's beautiful, intelligent, sexy, and everything I've always wanted. I can never thank you enough for introducing us."
I was sincerely happy for Demetri and could tell he was happy too. "So, how's the sex?"
Demetri blushed, looked around to make sure no one else was around, and whispered, "I never knew it could be so good. I've never been with a guy that could convince me to bottom before. I've never trusted them enough, but with Caius, it was easy. We talked about it first and he was extremely gentle. He made sure I enjoyed it as much as he did."
I smiled, "I think I understand what you're saying, but I'm not exactly sure."
He rolled his eyes, "I let him do the driving, Bella. I've never done that before. I've never been on the receiving end, so to speak, and I actually liked it."
"That surprises me. I thought Caius was more of the receiving kind of guy."
"He likes both. See, we're perfect for each other. How are things going with you and Edward?"
"The sex is great and most of the time he really seems to care for me, but then he says things that contradict his actions, so I get confused. I don't know where we stand right now. We were talking earlier and he said he doesn't want to ever get married and have a family. I don't know how I feel about that. I definitely want to get married and have kids someday. Not right now, of course, but someday."
Demetri shook his head and said, "You need to understand something about our Edward. His parents pretty much have the perfect marriage and he grew up in the perfect household. His mom was a famous interior designer who closed her office, so she could work from home and take care of Edward at the same time. His dad is a world famous surgeon who always made sure Edward had the best education, and pretty much gave him everything he wanted. They took month long vacations all over the world, and had huge parties for birthdays and holidays. When Edward got into music, his parents supported him 100%. He repaid them by rebelling. He ended up in rehab twice. He got arrested for drunk driving once. He brought whores to his parents' Christmas parties. Then there was the fiasco where he thought he got some girl knocked up.
"I think he sees the hell he put his parents through and the strain it put on their perfect marriage, and is afraid that it will all come back to haunt him in the end. He will probably have a kid that's just like him, because if anyone deserves to have karma kick him in the ass, it's Edward Cullen."
Caius came inside with the burger patties while Demetri and I set out the rest of the stuff for the burgers and opened bags of chips. Demetri made burgers for them both while Caius poured them some tea to share. I watched as they sat beside each other on the loveseat. Demetri leaned over and kissed Caius, whispering, "I love you."
Caius smiled and kissed him back, "I love you, too. Now eat before your food gets cold."
At that very moment, I felt jealous of the two lovers. I looked over at Edward, who was sitting at the table laughing with Marcus and Heidi and suddenly felt sad. I could easily see myself loving Edward Cullen. It saddened me that he couldn't see himself loving me.
A/N: So, now you see where the instability comes into the story line. Edward feels like his life in the music industry is too instable for a family. Demetri and Caius are happy. Everyone seems to be getting along great, except Jane. She's just a bitch. There is no getting along with Jane. Do you think Edward's words are going to come back to haunt him later? We will have to wait and see…
OK. I have to jump in the shower and head out the door. I hope you all have a wonderful week. I want to thank everyone that took the time to write reviews. Sorry that I have not responded to any of them. I am using all of my free time right now, which isn't very much, writing the end of this story. It is looking like it is going to be well over 30 chapters at this point.
Until next week…
