A/N: Well, this isn't really an author's note. It's an editor's note! I beta'd this for a friend of mine. Her account is new and won't let her post things yet. So this is going to be the temporary home for this little work of fiction.
This was just a little one-shot written because the author (Alicia-Spin) did something mean and I made her appologize to me by writing this. I hope you like it! R & R! Since she doesn't know what this says, I'll promise you all sorts of stuff if you do and she'll just have to go along with it! Soon she'll have many more stories up, including a story as a christmas present for me. So go check it out!
Artistically inclined: Check.
Athletically inclined: Semi-check
Vertically inclined: Hopeful future check.
Dean Thomas had sat through yet another potions lesson without once listening to Snape's ramblings, err... lectures. Dean never was really sure what went on in potions class, because that's what he had his best mate for. On the other hand, in Herbology, it was Seamus who got to slack off while Dean had to do double the work.
Personally, Dean thought he got a better deal.
"Ye forgot musically." Seamus said, peeking over Dean's shoulder as their class mates started to put away their scales and other assorted potion making items, everyone but the Slytherins looking very unhappy. Seamus looked at the bottom of the cauldron he and his new best mate were sharing to find what he could only describe as purple tar clinging to the bottom.
"Hmm?" Dean replied, wiggling the cauldron a little to see what the consistency of the substance was exactly.
"Athletically, Artistically, Vertically, Musically." Seamus muttered, taking out his wand and attempting to get rid of the goo.
Dean blinked. He had never thought much about music. It was nice to listen to, sometimes, but it never really held much of an interest for him. But he supposed for the sake of his ego-boasting life checklist, he should find out if he could add another item.
Later the week, after many subtle inquiries, Dean managed to find out the location of the one piano housed at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
He went alone, treating it like a secret mission. He wanted to have some fun at least.
When he finally went into the room, he eyed the four-legged monstrosity with an equal amount of curiosity and fear. He didn't quiet know where the fear part came in, but after a moment or so of cautiously standing back, he finally went over and took a seat.
Staring at the keys for a long while, he lifted his index finger and tapped one, softly. He was prepared to scrunch his face and move on, leaving this foolish idea behind. However, much to his surprise, it sounded good.
It wasn't until hours later that he left the room, making it through the Fat Lady's portrait one minute before curfew hit. Going straight up to his room, he added two things to his list.
Musically Inclined: Check.
Finding a first love: Double Check.
