~~~~~~~~~~~~~Okay my lovelies so I know this chapter is super long, but this is the last chapter of book 1. Book 2 is in the works and will be published once I have enough content to add. I look forward to your continued support! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I began to try and move my legs and arms; my body was finally free of being paralyzed. I really didn't like that I had to be paralyzed almost the whole day, but even with the movement I had, whatever jutsu Kabuto put on these it made me weak. I knew he said that before he left, and right now it felt like I was lying here strapped up for an eternity. I never heard anyone walk by and no one ever came into the room after Kabuto left.
I tried to thrash but I only ended up being able to for a minute at most and my body gave out. I tried screaming and there was no response, I tried everything to get out. I made tight fists and closed my eyes, how was I going to get out of this one? Just as I tried lifting myself up so I could see around the room better I saw the knob on the door start to turn. My heart began racing and my eyes were glued on the door. I was stiff and laid myself back down. When the door opened, I saw Kabuto walk in but, there were two other shinobi behind him. They were mostly covered except for their eyes; their head coverings had the sound village symbol on them. Kabuto came closer but the two shinobi stayed by the door. Kabuto Smirked and grabbed my face and forced it up so I had to make eye contact with him.
"You know Orochimaru has been watching you for some time…and I was a little skeptical of his plan to lure you out…I'm surprised it worked so easily on you and the copy ninja…but we have you now and that's all that matters."
He leaned in closer, and he was getting way too close for comfort. When his face was only a few inches from mine I spit in his face and tried headbutting him, but he was too quick. He stood up and wiped his face and his smirk turned to a frown now. He looked back at the table on the opposite side of the room. He walked over and stood in front of it for a few moments and came back with a small sword. It looked like a katana just smaller. He inspected it for a moment and when he came next to me, I stared at him and the sword intently. I didn't say a word, but he closed his eyes and held his open hand over the blade. His hand began to glow, and a weird light purple coated the blade. Once it was fully coated, he opened his eyes and hovered over me. He had the blade in his right hand and his free hand came up to my face again. He caressed it and ran his fingers down my neck. His eyes were staring intently at the dragon's head on my neck and then started moving down. He grabbed the blade and placed it under my shirt, I closed my eyes because I really didn't want to see what he was going to do next. I felt the blade run from my neck down to my hips, but it never cut me. I opened one eye and saw he cut my shirt down the middle and ripped it off. He began following the dragon tattoo but got stopped by my right arm. He held it up and inspected it and how it contrasted the rest of my body.
"You know, Orochimaru advised we would need to torture you to provoke the spirit because you would not call it out willingly…"
Suddenly he ran the sharp part of the blade down my arm, and I felt blood start falling down my arm to the bed. I closed my eyes shut and tried to keep back any kind of sound from the pain I felt. I then felt him release my arm and it went back to lying above my head still connected to the bed post. I looked up and could see the long cut Kabuto made, but something wasn't right. I squinted my eyes and the blood looked off…it almost looked black. I wasn't sure if this was true, or the darkness made it look that way. Kabuto scoffed and crossed his arms as he made his way back to the front door.
"We are still waiting on Orochimaru to return before we can start anything but, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if we got started a little early…"
He looked at the other two shinobi and nodded as he walked out and closed the door behind him. The two shinobi stood there for a moment and then went to the table on the opposite side of the room. They stood there for a moment and when they turned back towards me, I saw they both had a different weapon in their hand from the table. My heart began to race, and I felt anxiety overcome me, I tried to scream but before I could one of the shinobi was on top of me and had his hand forced against my mouth. I could see a faint smirk form and he pulled up a black material in his free hand.
"We don't want you to be too loud…don't want the others to be disturbed…"
His voice was cold, and it sent shivers down my spine. My eyes were open wide in fear as he placed the material over my mouth so now, I couldn't say anything. The shinobi stayed on top of me, hovering over me our faces not too far apart. I was now trembling partly because I had no idea what they were going to do with me, but also because Kabuto ripped my shirt off and I was exposed to the cold air in the room. The only warmth I felt was the warm breath from the shinobi on top of me. He suddenly placed his hand on my neck and held it tight. I struggled because he was not fully choking me, but it was close, it was hard to breathe and all I could see was the Shinobi's eyes light up. I saw his other hand disappear and shortly after I felt an awful pain in my shoulder. I moved my eyes over to try and see what happened and there was a kunai sticking out of my left shoulder. It was deep and all I could see was the handle, the whole blade was stuck in my shoulder. I began to get lightheaded from the blood loss and the little air I was getting. The shinobi then grabbed the kunai and ripped it out of my shoulder. I screamed as much as I could, I know no one would hear but I couldn't hold it back. I closed my eyes shut and I felt tears begin to form, but just when I was about to overcome the pain, I felt another sharp pain on my lower side. I saw the shinobi's hand now a little behind his side and when he let go the kunai was now stuck in my side.
I could hear the shinobi laughing and the one behind him joined in, they were enjoying torturing me and how helpless I was against them. I felt my blood start to fall from my shoulder and side and the shinobi stabbed me once again on my other side. This one did it for me, after he ripped it from my other side the room began to get blurry. My eyes began to get heavy, and I saw the shinobi come in closer to my face. He held it forcefully and shook it to try and keep me awake. Nothing he was going to do would keep me awake now, I felt my eyes close on their own and blackness came.
I started to open my eyes slowly, when my vision was clear and I came to, the pain rushed through my body. I winced and as I looked at my arm and down to my sides, I noticed they did nothing with the stab wounds. They let me bleed and kept all my wounds open. When I noticed this, I tried to keep as still as possible so I wouldn't tear and open any of the wounds more than they already were. I felt massive pain on all parts of my body though, I tried to look down at my legs and feet. I was able to see my pants were ripped almost to shreds and blood outlined most of the openings. I saw dark on parts of my legs, but I couldn't tell if it was just the dragon tattoo or more blood from the slashes on my legs.
As I looked around, I noticed no one was in the room so I laid my head back looking up at the ceiling. My mouth was still covered so I just let the tears fall, there was not much I could do now. The straps were still covered in Kabuto's jutsu, so they kept me weak and unable to try and get loose. He must have come in and out transferring chakra because there is no way a jutsu would be able to…last this long. I opened my eyes and looked to the side, how long have I really been in here for? Orochimaru still has not come, at least not from what I knew. There were no windows so I couldn't see the position of the sun…there were no clocks…. there was nothing to let me know. I then saw the doorknob begin to turn and my eyes shot straight to the door. My heart began racing again as I waited for the door to fully open. When it did my heart dropped and I felt my whole body stiffen.
I looked straight into his snake like eyes, and I was locked in place. It was Orochimaru…he finally came to see his prize. When Orochimaru came fully in Kabuto was behind him. I squinted my eyes and saw that Orochimaru's arms were lifeless and dark. They had no movement and were almost as black as my right arm. I looked back to his face and saw he was trying to hide it but, his face showed he was in a great deal of pain. When I saw Kabuto again, he was kind of behind Orochimaru, it looked like he was helping him stay up and be able to move. I wondered what would have happened to him to where he got damaged this badly. I always knew him being the great Sanin he was powerful, but he also became almost inhuman over time. When he left the Leaf and became a rouge ninja, I would hear very strange stories about him. I heard how he was stealing young people's faces and bodies to keep him young. It sounded like he was basically immortal. I don't know how much of those stories are true, though from the looks of him and what he has done it could be possible.
The two started to slowly come closer to me, I kept my eyes on Orochimaru the whole time. The closer they got the more his eyes widened, and a smirk started to form on his face. He looked me up and down and his eyes would linger on my open wounds. He bent down so his face could be close to mine as he stared straight into my eyes. He stayed locked with me for a few moments and said nothing.
"Sir, we have been able to keep her restrained and the dragon spirit from being released. My fellow shinobi did have some…fun though before you returned."
Kabuto was standing not too far from behind him and was staring intently at me. I just looked from Kabuto and Orochimaru preparing myself for whatever was to come next. I then saw Orochimaru wince and stand back up as he turned to Kabuto.
"I think they have had enough fun with this…it's my turn now."
He looked over his shoulder and his long tongue stuck out as he moved it around his lips. Kabuto then smirked and nodded and stood still as Orochimaru slowly left the room. Kabuto then made his way over and the other two shinobi came in as well waiting for Kabuto's instruction. Kabuto looked back and nodded at both as he pointed to my straps.
"Okay you two…untie her from the bed posts and take her to the torture room…make sure when you put her in there to secure her with the same straps so she can't escape."
The two shinobi nodded and began untying the straps at the same time. One at my feet the other doing my wrists. When I was released from the bed posts I felt my arms and legs drop to the bed. I tried lifting them, but they felt like they were made of rock. They were too heavy for me to even move an inch so I was laying there in the same position. The one shinobi that was untying my wrists then grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder. The other shinobi came up and tied my wrists and feet together. They then opened the door and started to make their way down the hallway we came in through. I kept trying to look around to see if anything looked familiar, but I was still too weak and my vision was still blurry and out of sorts.
We continued for a few moments until they took a right down a different hallway and came up to a larger set of doors. They both had to open them and when they closed the door behind us, I was able to barley see some things that were in the room. I could see posts positioned closely together that had clamps on them. I saw multiple tables placed on the sides of the room, I just couldn't quiet make out what were on the tables. I saw other odd machines in the room. They had all different kinds of torture devices and places to hold the person in place. They already tortured me and now it was Orochimaru's turn, I couldn't help think that he is going to do a lot worse to me. My heart began to race, and I felt a headrush come on that made the room spin. I felt like I was going to be sick and when it didn't stop I was sick. I ended up puking on the shinobi's back that was holding me. He heard and I think he felt it and I felt him jerk around and saw his face look down over his shoulder. He cussed to the other shinobi and threw me on the ground, I landed on my side, and I just laid there since I couldn't move. The other shinobi came over to me and forcefully lifted me to my feet and placed me against one of the large posts in the middle of the room.
The shinobi began tying the straps to the clamps on the post, he started with my hands and then my feet. When he was done, I was kind of leaning forward but was being held in place by my hands and feet being stuck to the post. I could feel my weight pushing on my wrists and ankles and it began to hurt. I closed my eyes and winced in pain as it started to strain me more. I felt the shinobi grab my face and force it up, my eyes were barley open but I could faintly see him. I could see a small smirk form under his mask and suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I looked down and he had stabbed me again and made a new wound in my upper stomach right under my breasts. He let the kunai stay in place, I could see the handle but nothing else sticking out. I looked back up and saw he was already almost to the door and before I knew it, he was gone, and I was alone…or so I thought.
I then began hearing some moaning and rustling over to my right. I slowly moved my vision to the right and it took me a few moments but I was then able to make out a figure that was tied up as well. I couldn't make out his face but it looked to be an older man and he was tied up to a few posts down from me. I could see blood dripping from his face to the ground, but he kept his head lowered. I don't think he was conscious or maybe he was coming to…it was hard to tell. I still had my mouth covering on so there was no way I could call out to him, it didn't matter though because just then I heard the large doors open again. I shot my eyes over to the doors and saw Orochimaru and Kabuto walking in. This time I saw Orochimaru's arms were heavily bandaged but still looked like he didn't have use of them. They were slightly swinging to his side as he slowly made his way over to me. Kabuto followed closely behind him until Orochimaru was only a foot away from me.
I let my head fall lifelessly and closed my eyes. I didn't want to look at him, I was just preparing for what he was going to do to me. I felt something wet and slimy running down my arm so I jerked my head up and saw Orochimaru's long tongue making its way down from my wrist to my shoulder and then down my side. Since most of my skin was exposed, I could feel every second of it and it sent shivers down my spine. I then saw his tongue come to the kunai handle in my upper stomach and wrap itself around it. Once I saw it had a good grip and it stopped moving it slowly started to pull it out. The slowness of the movement sent consistent pain throughout my chest.
Once the kunai was out he dropped it to the ground and his hand now had a grip of my chin. He slowly raised my head so that I was forced to look at him. He smiled when I finally opened my eyes and his began to glow.
"I finally have you…I finally have my dragon…there is no way I am letting you out of my grasp dear. That dragon will be mine even if I have to kill you for it…"
His voice was dark and cynical, but looking at his face he was smiling, and the excitement radiated. His excitement to finally get what he's been wanting for so long, yet I still don't understand why he wants the spirit. He then grabbed on to my mouthpiece and ripped it from my face and let it fall to the ground. I took this as my one opportunity to figure out why the hell he wants the dragon.
"Orochimaru…why do you even want this spirit…"
I was breathless and that came out as a whisper, but it looked like he heard. He laughed and let go of my face.
"This spirit…will give me the power I seek out most…this spirit will not only give me the Rinnegan but, will give me immortality. I will be the most powerful person in the world and can do what I will…You have so much power sealed away within you…you have no idea!"
It looked like he got upset at that last part, did I offend him? I knew about these powers, but I was not in the same mind set as him with what I wanted to do with it.
"You really think you're going to get this thing out of me and be able to seal it away within you?"
He was insane…even if he released it there is a high possibility that the transfer would kill him, and that Oni would then be free to wreak havoc on everything and everyone around. Plus, the whole clan was wiped out so there are no shinobi that are around that could even preform the transfer and break the seal on me. There is no way Orochimaru would even know where to begin to do this! I shook my head and laughed, it came out broken but if he could hear it, that is all that mattered to me.
I looked up at him and saw a very upset unamused face now, very different from just a few moments ago. I smirked because I knew that I am getting to him, but just as I did He dug his hands into my side and stomach wounds. He almost made fists so the wounds were being ripped and open even more. I closed my eyes and screamed in pain, I felt blood running down again and I felt Orochimaru keep moving his hands deeper into my wounds. Just as I thought I was about to pass out from the pain he pulled back. I slowly opened my eyes and saw his arms lifeless again and I looked back at Kabuto. I realized Kabuto was controlling his arms…
"Why don't you just get this over with! I'm done waiting and playing your little stupid ass games!"
Orochimaru laughed harder than he has and after a few moments he looked over to the other person that was tied up in the room with us. He then looked back at me once he saw me look over. He smiled and tilted his head as he stared at me.
"No…there are still pieces of the game you must play…and this part is where you ask that man over there who he is and why he is here with us…"
My eyes went wide, what was he talking about? Why would I want to know any of that? I slowly looked over a the man who seemed to be moving slightly. I think he was conscious and Orochimaru was staring intently at me. I don't think we was going to leave until I did what he asked. I sighed and closed my eyes, when I opened them, I looked at the man again.
"You…over there…what is your name and why are you here?"
I kept my eye on the man as I saw him start to slowly move his head so that he could see me. When his face turned fully, and his eyes met mine…my heart dropped. My eyes went wide and tears started forming in my eyes, I tried holding them back but I had no strength left. The man didn't say anything for a while, but he didn't have to…I knew who he was…I just didn't know why in the world he was here or how.
"Father…"
I whispered this which I'm sure he wasn't able to hear. I couldn't believe it was him, no I shook my head and jerked back to Orochimaru. His face answered everything for me though, his smile and his laughter said it all. This was my father, why was he here.
"Why do you have my father here! What is this you sick monster!"
Tears started streaming and I was able to yell that loud enough to even get Kabuto to look up. My heart was broken, I thought he was dead. Now he is here being tortured by Orochimaru as well, but I needed to know why. I needed to know how he survived and why he was here.
"Oh, I'll let your father spill all the details for you…I'll leave you two be…for now."
He turned his back but before he reached the doors, he turned his head to the side and glanced back at me.
"Have fun with your little family reunion…"
I watched as both walked out, and the doors closed. I just stared at the doors for what seemed like an eternity. What was I going to say? I see my father who I have thought was dead for these past years and he shows up here of all places? It just didn't make sense. I finally turned my head back so I could see him, and he let his head fall again.
"Why are you here…why is Orochimaru torturing you and keeping you tied up? I need to know…now"
I could see him start to shift and he was shaking his head slowly. He was quiet for some time, and I was about to give up when he turned his head to me.
"I am so sorry Isamu…I am so sorry for everything…"
His voice was faint and his expression turned to sadness, but he still didn't answer my questions. I shook my head and tightened my fist as much as possible.
"That doesn't answer my question…why are you here?...how are you alive? What's going on!"
All my rage came through I could feel myself burning and my heart racing. I felt pain throughout my body but I didn't care I needed answers. I stared intently at him and would not move a muscle until he answered me.
"I was weak Isamu…I was weak as your father and as a Chieftain…I am still weak…and because of it, now you have to suffer as well…"
I still didn't understand…why did being weak have anything to do with this…unless. I shook my head, I couldn't believe what I was thinking but it…all made sense now.
"You're weak still…now I must suffer at the hands of Orochimaru and…it's all your fault. You told him where I was…you sent me to the Leaf, and you knew I would still be there…you told him where to find me…what else did you tell him!"
That was it…this was my breaking point. I felt my entire body engulfed in heat and a burning sensation. I felt the rage take over me and I felt my claws begin to extend out. My vision started to turn red and I began struggling even more to get out of these straps. For some reason Oni came through even with the weakening Jutsu and it didn't make sense. I looked back over to my father and my breathing was heavy. His eyes went wide with fear of what I had just become.
"I did tell him yes…I was the one who told him about the dragon spirit…and the powers it gives and…that it was inside of you…but I never thought…he would still come after you…"
I laughed and the darkness echoed all around us. Was he kidding me? He literally sold me out and yet he thought they still wouldn't come for me?
"Why wouldn't they come for me? Orochimaru already explained everything and why he wants the spirit. So why…why would you think that after everything you told them!"
He shook his head and let it fall again. I could hear small whimpers and I saw him start to shake. He was right he is weak, this was not the Father I knew…this was a shell. He sold out his own blood along with the clan…and because of that everyone died…mother died…
" I didn't think they would come because…because it's different with you Isamu it always has been…The medical shinobi that night…she told your mother and I that the dragon willingly went to you and was sealed…but not only was he sealed within you he made his final contract with you…that's what the dragon mark is all over your body…that is his contract seal…"
I shook my head and rage overcame me…it took over my sense…my judgment…my reasoning. I don't understand a contract…was it like the one I made with those ninken wolves? Why was I different and…what did that mean? If I was the person, he made his last contract with…does that mean he is in me…forever? Do the rules on that scroll the Hokage gave me even apply to me anymore?
"What contract? There was never anything about a contract in the scroll you gave the Hokage? I don't understand any of this! Tell me know…what does that mean?"
My father scoffed and spit blood on the ground. His eyes were closed, and his breathing was slow and shallow. I could see his chakra and life force at the bottom line, and he didn't have much left in him. Regardless of this though, I needed to know everything, and I wasn't going to let him go until he tells me.
"We have no idea about the contract other than…the dragon did this because once it is made no one can transfer it to another person…The dragon is going to be sealed within you forever…so with this being said Orochimaru would not be able to release the seal and dragon spirit…"
Oni is going to be inside of me…forever? I won't ever be able to transfer him out. I'm going to be like this…forever?
My eyes went wide when I heard Oni chuckling in my head. I could feel his rage but also his excitement. I shook my head and closed my eyes; it can't be true. Even if it is…Orochimaru doesn't care he is going to find a way! He is inhuman and evil and can-do things I never thought were possible!
"Well I hate to break it to you…but even if that is the case it doesn't mean Orochimaru will just leave me…he's going to do everything and anything to get this thing out of me! And now you are saying that it can never leave?"
I began to try and pull my arms and legs free from the straps holding me still. I would scream out and smoke was rising. It was thick smoke this time, different then I have ever seen before. I then began feeling pain in my mouth, I closed my eyes and had to open my mouth. I felt my snout elongated and sharp teeth were pushing through. Once the pain was gone I jerked my head back and bit down on the strap holding my wrists.
The strap then broke within seconds and fell to the floor. I followed suite but was able to stop my fall and was holding my self up with just my hands. I then jerked my head around again and snapped the ones holding my ankles. This was it, I was free and Oni is filling me with more of his chakra then he ever has before. I felt the rage but also the power, and at this moment I wanted to run over and snap my fathers head from his body for what he has done.
Kakashi POV
I jumped through the large hole in the wall of the arena and began to jump onto the trees just outside. We were following Urushi now and Guy and Kurenai were a little behind me. I was staying close to Urushi with my heart racing and anxiety filling my body. I just kept hoping that I could get to her before that snake lays a finger on her.
I felt Kurenai gain speed and come to my side but I never looked over. I could feel her staring at my intently but, I wasn't going to lose focus. She then began to talk so I tried my best to listen.
"Kakashi…I know you are worried but we have to be on our guard…we are going into something we have no idea about. He have no idea who we will meet…or where Isamu even is…just make sure you don't do anything reckless…"
My eye shot over to Kurenai, she was right, but I was going to do everything in my power to make sure Isamu is safe…and return her home. After a few moments Kurenai fell behind and we began to slow down. Urushi stopped on one of the branches in front of us. I then stopped at his side and Kurenai and Guy were on another branch that was next to ours. I looked down at Urushi and crouched down to be closer.
"Kakashi…her blood, the scent is weakening…I will try my best to follow but…it's so faint if I can't track it anymore I won't be able to move forward…"
I nodded, I knew that was all he could do right now.
"Okay Urushi…let's hurry now but tell me at once if you lose her scent."
Urushi nodded and started to sprint to the right so the rest of us followed. We passed by many trees and openings in the forest. We started to then make our way past the wall of the Leaf village. Urushi stopped again in front of the main gates.
"This is where it ends Kakashi…I no longer can smell her scent…I am sorry."
With that he poofed away and I put my hands on my hips. I started to look around and had no idea where to even start. I grew angry with this; how can her scent stop here? I know that they teleported away but her scent should still be coming from where they stopped. I then felt a hand on my shoulder and jerked my head to the side, it was Kurenai again and Guy was right behind her.
"Kakashi…I am so sorry but…if the scent ends here…they could be anywhere…"
Her voice was sad, and her touch was gentle. I patted her hand but then I grabbed it and let it loose by her side. I shook my head and crouched down, I have to keep looking…I have to find her.
"I can't stop here…I have to keep trying…if you guys don't want to continue, I won't force you…but I have to keep trying…"
Kurenai and Guy exchanged worried glances and Guy stepped up to me this time. He gestured out to the road leading away from the village and the massive tree line and mountains in the distance.
"Kakashi…you will be out there for far too long…there is too much ground to cover and if her scent is gone…I want her back too Kakashi…I am worried just like Kurenai but right now…there is no use in wasted time searching for something we have no idea about…we need to go back to the village…"
I looked up at Guy and shook my head, no I wasn't going back. I don't care if there is too much ground to be covered and we have no idea. I just knew I had to keep trying, I wasn't going to give up on her.
"I'm not going back…"
Before either of them could answer I jumped back up into a tree and began jumping from one tree to the next. When I knew they were no longer behind me I stopped and went to the ground. I looked around and lifted my headband to reveal my sharingan. I made sure no one was in site, and I then started my summoning jutsu again. This time I called upon all my ninken. Once I saw all eight dogs appear I had them all sniff the kunai again. Once they were done, I stood back and crossed my arms.
"I know Urushi said the scent was no longer there…but we need to spread out and continue looking. We will meet up back at the Leaf's main gates at sundown unless someone is able to locate her first…does everyone understand?"
All of the dogs nodded in agreement and the swiftly jumped up into the trees in all different directions. I then jumped up into the trees and began moving forward. I looked left and right and covered everything in the areas I passed. I continued to move forward and intently search, this went on for hours. I knew my chakra was low because I have been using my sharingan for so long I was beginning to slow down. I stopped on another tree and was able to see the sun start to set. I shook my head and closed my eyes as I made a fist. I punched the side of the tree and kept still with my eyes closed. My heart was hurting and my stomach dropped, I should have been there. I should have been fast enough to keep up with them and get her from Kabuto…why did she slip through my fingers? How could I have let that happen.
I shook my head, I'll have to call it a night I can't continue in the complete darkness. I then made my way back to the main gate of the Leaf. When I returned the sun was almost completely set and I saw all eight of my ninken sitting waiting for me. That means they didn't find anything either…
I crossed my arms and when I got close enough, I stopped and eyed each one of the dogs.
"Okay…did anyone find anything? Any kind of leads….anything at all?"
I tried to keep my stern tone but it was breaking, I was filled with worry and fear and it was hard to mask right now. Just then I saw Urushi come forward and he gestured with his snout for me to look to the left of myself. I turned my head and looked back down at Urushi.
"I was able to pick up a faint scent quickly in that direction…but the further from the village I got the weaker her scent."
I nodded and waved for them to be dismissed. I then walked back through the gates and slowly started making my way back home. As I got to my front door, I saw Kurenai leaning back on the wall next to the front door. Her gaze turned to me as she walked up to me with a stern face.
"Kakashi…were you out there all day?"
She then showed her worry and I nodded back at her. I then took my hand off the doorknob and turned fully to face her.
"I was out all day yes…I was able to find a small lead…so first thing tomorrow I am going to follow that and I will continue to search until I find her…"
Kurenai nodded slowly but then she looked at the ground her face grew sad and she looked back up at me.
"The Hokage is…dead…Orochimaru killed him…"
I froze and slowly turned my gaze to her. The Hokage is dead? No, that can't be…Orochimaru really got him?
"Kurenai…is…is he really dead?"
I couldn't believe it, but if that's true then…what is he going to do to Isamu. I looked back and Kurenai was slowly nodding her head and I saw her start to cry. I then walked up to her and pulled her in to a hug. Her eyes went wide and she hesitated, after a moment she leaned into the hug.
"Yes…he is…and now Orochimaru has Isamu…what are we going to do?
I was lost for words; I had no idea what to say back. I had no idea what we were going to do…but I knew I had to keep looking for her. I looked back down at Kurenai and pulled her out in front of me.
"I am going to keep looking for Isamu…you stay here with the other Jonin and help fix the damages done. We know Orochimaru has Isamu, so he won't be coming back here…I'll bring her home Kurenai…"
She nodded slowly with wide eyes.
"Kakashi…please…bring her home…I can't bear thinking of not having here with us…I love her Kakashi I can't lose her…"
I could see the tears running down her face and nodded as I placed my hand on her shoulder.
"I love her too Kurenai…that's why I won't stop until I find her."
End of Kakashi POV
I was free and my father's eyes were wide, but they never left me. I slowly crawled over so I was then in front of him. Blood was dripping from all of my wounds to the ground but Oni made sure they weren't a problem. I looked my Father up and down as he coward, how weak he has become. It almost is sad, but I do not feel anything for this man. He took my mother away from me…he outcasted me…and now I have an opportunity. I have an opportunity to give it back because of what he has done.
I stood up and grabbed his neck to lift him up. My claws were digging into his skin and I felt his blood begin to run down my hand. I forced him to look up at me, I wanted him to stare into my eyes and see what I have become. I want him to know how strong I am and prove him wrong. I began opening my snout and I could feel fire gather in the back of my throat. I was going to burn this man, but something stopped me.
I felt someone grab me, they took my free hand and before I could react had it tied back. My father dropped and my hands were now behind my back again. Oni didn't leave though, so these restraints are not going to release Oni. I looked behind me and saw Kabuto not too far behind me. I looked down at my arms and crouched down, I didn't need my arms. I began rushing to Kabuto but I fell to the ground and saw that now my ankles were strapped together again. I fell on my stomach and winced in pain as Kabuto took one of his feet and placed it on my back. He began pushing down on my back my eyes then went wide.
I heard a loud cracking noise and my ears began to ring. The pain shot straight through my body, and he had broken something. I am not sure what he broke but even with the pain Oni was still here. He was keeping me going, without him I would probably be passed out again vulnerable.
"Good your dragon is awake…you're going to Orochimaru now…it looks like this little family reunion is done…"
I saw Kabuto smile and I felt the rage again, but I was unable to do anything, and he had two other shinobi carry me into another room. This room was a little smaller but this time they laid me on the table. They strapped me to the table and Orochimaru came in staring intently at me. I could see the fascination in his eyes and he came closer. He bent down and stared into my eyes and down to the bright red light on my chest from the dragon.
"Now that your dragon is released…we can move on to figuring out how to release him…or how to transfer that chakra to me…"
He grinned and stepped back a little as Kabuto came up to my side. He grabbed a scalpel and held my right eye open. I laid there in fear, this was all too familiar. They are going to take my eyes again…but this time I think they will accomplish it. I had one of the other shinobi come and hold my head still. He made sure he was grabbing my snout and forcing it shut. I shut my left eye and tried to prepare myself, but in my state, there was no time to prepare, my body just had to take it. He began cutting delicately to remove my eye but not damage it. The pain was almost unbearable and even in this state I began to get lightheaded and could barely comprehend what was going on around me. I saw the removed one and Kabuto was taking it over to Orochimaru but, I passed out again before I could see what they were doing.
I was able to come to and when I did I found I was still tied to the same table. I looked down and I saw my claws were still extended which means Oni was still here. I didn't understand why he was being present for so long…but deep down I felt something was wrong. I did notice they placed a covering over the eye they removed. No one was in the room but when the door knob turned and Kabuto walked in my body went stiff. He came closer to me and as he looked down, he shook his head.
"I don't understand…that should have worked…you're eye Dragon…it incinerated when we tried to place it in Orochimaru…why did it do that?"
Kabuto was angered now I could hear it in his voice and see it on his face. He grabbed my neck and I started to hear the sizzling sound. Kabuto then jumped back and held his hand close. I could see that it got burnt bad, but if I can feel the heat, I can only imagine what it feels like to someone else.
"This is all so fascinating but…also a complete pain in the ass…Your father is no longer talking so…you need to start talking…how do we get the spirit released?"
I smirked and shook my head slowly as I looked at him with a weak eye.
"Where's your master? Did that eye hurt him when it incinerated? Is that why he is not here?"
I scoffed and then laid my head back down. I heard Kabuto mumble under his breathe and I could slightly see him pacing back and forth. I shook my head as I closed my eye and tried to take a deep breath, but my chest hurt so bad.
"I don't know how to release the spirit…too bad you killed off all of the medical shinobi that would have known…"
I laughed but not because this was funny, but because I finally understood everything. They were the ones who attacked my village, they wanted me but when I escaped they took my father hostage. They have been using him to get to me and now…they have me but don't know what to do.
"Maybe you can pick my body off one by one…keep trying to transfer it that way…I'm sure it will eventually work…"
I could hear the sarcastic tone in my voice, but I just started crying. Tears were falling down my face mixed with the blood. I wanted to scream out so badly but my body wouldn't let me. I then opened my eye and looked up and the tears began to fall even harder. Kakashi…I just want him so bad right now…I'm so scared and weak and he's gone…I don't know if I'll ever see him again…but right now the thought of being back with him was keeping me going.
Kabuto then huffed and stormed out of the room slamming the door shut. I smiled, they have no idea what they are doing. Orochimaru will kill himself before ever getting the dragon spirit released.
"Oni…are you there?...can you hear me?"
I was speaking out to Oni since he was still present, but I wasn't sure if he would be able to come through. I then heard a loud echo in my head and I winced a little.
"Yes I can…what do you need of me? I'm doing what I can to keep you alive…I'll be damned if I die like this here with you…"
I laughed a little then coughed as I closed my eyes.
"Oni…with what my Father said and what you just said…if I die you die…then does this contract really mean you are going to be sealed inside me forever? Can you not be released?"
It was quiet for some time and then I felt Oni and his rage and his voice echoed even louder.
"Yes human I am bound within you until you die…I am unable to be released that would break the contract and would mean my life…"
I nodded, I understood and thankfully he could confirm that with me.
"So…does that mean I still will die at 40 from what the scroll said?"
I heard Onis laughter, and it made my ears ring.
"No child…that was never a condition…that was when the first chieftain met his demise and that's how old he was…the clan thought that I killed him and came up with that assumption themselves…there is no age or time that you will die…it's just when that day comes I will die because you are my last contract…there is so much time we are allowed up here in your world…when that time is up….we are done and return home…"
I was still confused, but at least I know I won't die from Oni like that. That was the last I heard of Oni though for some time. He was present but became dormant, and then Kabuto decided to move me back to our previous room. My father was still tied to where he was before, he was just more banged up. They must be torturing him again trying to figure out something that will never happen. They began torturing me more until I was at my breaking point. They were at it for at least three hours, I don't know exactly how long but I feel like I have been here for days…even weeks! There were no windows no way to see the sunshine or see the moon glow at night. There was nothing to help me at all try and figure our how long I have been here or even where I was.
Kabuto and the other two shinobi decided that it was enough for today and the left us still tied. I slowly looked over at my father, I tried but I couldn't get a good look. I sighed and let my head fall again.
"Father…I'm going to get us out of here…"
I heard him gasp and I could hear him rustling around.
"What do you mean? How are we going to get out of here when even with the dragon spirit you can't get lose from those straps…"
His voice was loud and anxious, I then asked for Oni when he answered.
"Oni…is there anything you can do to help get me out of these restraints? We need to get out of here and now…"
Oni screeched a little and took a few moments to answer.
"Yes…but this may hurt…"
At this point I didn't even care…I was already in so much pain. I nodded and gave Oni the okay. It was quiet for a moment until I felt my hands and feet start to sting and burn. I cried out and opened my eye trying to get a glimpse and my arms and legs were on fire! I saw the straps start to incinerate though, and once they were fully gone I fell to the ground. I groaned for a moment and tried to collect myself before getting up. I got up slowly and made my way to my father. I looked at him and placed my hand on his wrist straps and then the leg straps. The fire was able to take care of his as well and he was going to fall to the ground but I was able to catch him in time. I stood him back up and as I did I started to look around trying to see if there was a way out. I then closed my eyes and focused I could feel a slight draft come in from the large doors. I gestured for my father to follow so he did and stayed close behind. We walked out the front doors and I kept following the draft I felt. We were running up a hallway and then we hit a normal sized door. It was the only one that I could see so I slowly opened the door. I slowly started to enter with my fire at the ready. When I entered the room there were windows…I saw the sun…I had to squint because of how bright it was. I then moved in more and looked around. I didn't see or sense anyone and as I went to the window and looked out I saw a heavy tree line. I saw rocks to the sides and nodded. I came back in and grabbed my father.
"This is the way out…no matter what just keep running…don't stop running."
My father looked at me and nodded slowly, we then got up and opened the door and began running. My father was in front of me and I was behind so I could sense if anything comes. I did start to have a bad feeling back in the bottom of my stomach. It was quiet…too quiet and we have not seen one shinobi the whole time. This doesn't feel right and as I was about to call out to my father I fell to the ground. I screamed in pain and tried to prop myself up on my elbows. I tried to get up but my left leg gave out and sent pain all through me. I slowly looked back and saw that my left leg was broken, I then shot my glance to scan around us trying to figure out what happened. I then saw a kunai fly straight towards me. I threw it to the side and turned to face my father who was still standing there with wide eyes and fear.
"Father run….run….don't look back…."
I started coughing and I was now coughing up blood that coated my hand. My father nodded and began running, I turned my attention to behind me and saw Kabuto and now he had four other shinobi with him. He looked at me and then looked in the direction my father went. His face was red and I could see his anger.
"Nice try dragon…we won't let you get away so easily…as for him well…we'll take care of him."
Kabuto looked at the two shinobi to his left and gestured for them to go after my father. The nodded and were off, I held my arm out to stop them, but I wasn't able to do anything. I couldn't get up, I couldn't move, all I could do was stare at Kabuto as he came up to me. He ordered the other two shinobi to carry me back in. I winced as they picked me up and saw my leg dangling and it was bent in the wrong direction. I then looked around again quickly before they took me back in and, I still had no idea where we were. Somewhere deep within the forest I knew that so I shook my head, there was no way anyone would find us. I then looked back at the way my father began running, I just hope that he can get away…I know what he did was wrong…but he was still my father, and he doesn't deserve death…at least not from my hand.
Kabuto and the other shinobi put me back in the room where I was strapped to the table. Kabuto strapped me down and when he did, I became exhausted. I was fighting to keep my eye open and as I did I saw Kabuto smile as he looked down at me.
"Now comes the fun…"
Kakashi POV
It was now hitting almost two weeks of searching. The village was back to being as structured as possible. We were now trying to figure out with the elders who was going to be the next Hokage. With all of this I continued to search for Isamu every day, each day passed and I began to grow more and more worried. I wasn't sleeping I wasn't eating I just kept going. This morning when I woke up, I felt heavy and had a slow start. I sent all of my ninken out again and I began searching in different areas. I would put markings on trees in the areas I already scouted so I wouldn't get confused. I continued and I could see the sun was starting to set again. I went to a rock that was right in front of a small river. I sat down and stared into the water as it was running by.
"Where are you Isamu…I can't lose you…please…don't leave me…"
I could feel tears start to run down both of my eyes as they dropped to the ground. I then felt a gush of wind next to my leg so I turned my gaze over. It was Pakkun, I perked up and gave my full attention to him.
"Kakashi…I have her scent…it's strong…follow me quickly."
My eyes went wide and my heart began to race again. The adrenaline that filled my body was able to move me forward and with out question I started to follow Pakkun. We jumped from tree to tree, and I was getting more anxious as we passed each tree.
"Pakkun…are we close?"
Pakkun looked behind to me and continued moving. I knew that was a yes from him, so I started to really scan the area around us as we continued. I wasn't going to miss anything, not when I have an opportunity to find her. Pakkun then stopped on a large rock and I jumped down and landed next to him. I then heard rustling in the bushes and trees not too far in front of us. I grabbed my kunai and began rushing to where the movement was coming from. I then saw an older man running but he was weak so he was tripping over almost everything. I jumped so that I was now standing in front of him blocking his path. Pakkun also jumped and met me at my side. I looked up at the man and his eyes were wide but he was covered in blood. His clothes were rags and he looked really beat up. He stood there in silence for a moment and I realized he wouldn't be able to attack me so I let my guard down. Pakkun then went up to him and sniffed at him. He then turned his head and barked at me.
"Some of that dried blood is Isamu's…that's what I was smelling…"
My eyes went wide when I heard that her blood was on this man. I got angry and took him by the throat and slammed him against the nearest tree. I held him up high, so he was struggling, and I looked up at him with rageful eyes.
"Why is Isamu's blood on you? Where is she!"
The man was still trying to struggle but he was also trying to speak.
"Le…let me down….and I will tell you…"
I let him fall to the ground and heard him wince, I kept my eyes intently on him being able to anticipate every move he will make. The man slowly got up and rubbed his back as he tried to straighten out. He then pointed to behind him, and I looked but only saw tree line and bushes.
"She…is back there…she saved my life but…they took her…"
My heart sank and I turned to the man, instead of anger I was now full of anxiety needing to know more.
"What do you mean she saved your life? Who took her? Was it Orochimaru?"
The man nodded and sat down on the nearest rock next to him as he slowly looked up at me.
"Yes…I am Isamu's father, and they were holding me hostage. They then brought Isamu in a few weeks ago I believe, and she was by my side for a short period…but in that period she was able to break us free and buy me time to run away…but they got her and took her back…"
This was Isamu's father? I thought everyone was killed in her clan the night she left and came to the leaf. How was he alive and standing right in front of me? I shook my head, no this can be talked about later. I need to know about Isamu and I needed to get to her now.
"Do you know where they took her? Can you at least point me in the direction? I need to save her…"
The man looked at me in the eyes intently and then he sighed as he pointed off in the direction he was running from.
"There is a hidden door not too far from here in that direction…keep going straight and you will see just keep to the mountain side the door is embedded into the side of the mountain…you'll see it just keep your eyes out…"
I nodded and stood up ready to start heading over when I forgot to ask him something, something I was dreading asking. I looked down at him as he had his head hanging down.
"Is…is she okay? Tell me Isamu is okay."
The man slowly lifted his head and looked back up at me. I could see his eyes begin to water and tears fell down the side of his face. He shook his head and my stomach dropped.
"I couldn't do anything…I couldn't do anything to help her…she was alive when I got out but…I can't say for when they took her back…"
He put his head in his hands and I looked at Pakkun.
"Pakkun get him back to the Leaf and get him medical attention…"
Pakkun nodded but as he stood, he hesitated and looked over at me.
"You're going in there all alone? You really think that is a good idea?"
I nodded and pointed in the direction of the Leaf village.
"When you return and get him taken care of…seek out Kurenai, Guy, and Asuma if you can and lead them to me…take this so you can keep my sent."
I bent down and placed a piece of cloth from my shirt and put it in Pakkun's collar. He looked up at me and nodded and went over to the man and bit his pant leg. The man looked at Pakkun and then me, and before they were about to leave, he stopped me.
"How…how do you know Isamu…why where you out here?"
My eyes went a little wide in shock but I knew I had to make this quick and we could talk more when I get Isamu home.
"Isamu is someone I care for deeply and I made a promise to her…and I am keeping my promise."
With that I began running in the direction he pointed out. It took me some time, but I finally made it to an opening, and I could see a silhouette of a door in the side of the mountain side. I walked up to the door I held the door knob and turned it slowly. I held my Kunai in my free hand and had my guard up as I walked into the room. I looked around and I didn't see or sense anyone present. I started looking around and found another hidden door in the corner of the room. I put my hand on this knob and instantly I got a shiver up my spine. I was so scared to see what I was going to walk into…I just hope she is alive…please Isamu…keep fighting…I am finally here and when I have you in my arms you can finally rest.
I opened the door and it looked like a dark hallway that was lit up with torches every so often. I began making my way down the hallway and keeping my eye out for any shinobi I might cross. I had my sharingan activated still so I would be able to see them coming. Just then I slowed my steps and shook my head, I looked from one side of the hallway to the next. There were at least four different doors, two on each side. I kept looking at them all trying to figure out which one to start with. I sighed and I started with the first one on my left, so I went over and put my hand on the knob. I tried to turn it, but I was locked. I stood back and closed my eyes, I began to conjure up enough lightening in my hand for my chidori. Once I had enough, I opened my eyes and ran to the door and broke through it. The door then fell and made a big thud when it landed. Well…if no one knew I was here…they do now.
I began walking slowly into the room, it was very dark. There was one small torch in the right corner of the room and all I could see was a small table under the torch. I began walking up to the table and as I looked down, I saw different kinds of medical tools. They were all covered in blood, and by the looks of it, it was fresh blood. I picked up a scalpel and examined it until I heard rustling behind me. Someone was in here but I couldn't see so I reached out to grab the torch from the wall. I held it in my hand and as I turned, I walked slowly to where the noise was coming from. I then came across a larger table and saw movement from on the table. I moved my eyes slowly from her feet strapped to the table all the way up to where her dragon tattoo stopped at her neck. My eyes began to water as I looked closer. Her whole body was covered in open stab wounds and dried blood. Her leg was broken and how it was strapped to the table really showed that. She barley had any clothing on, and I could see tubes were sticking in both of her arms. I moved up to where her head was laying and I put the torch up a little above us so the light could expose her more.
She winced and slowly turned her head towards me, and her one visible eye slowly opened but couldn't open fully. There was blood falling from her left eye and a black cloth covered it. She…she looked like Oni was giving her his chakra. She still had her claws, and I could see the smoke lifting from her mouth and nose. When I bent down a little I saw something different though…this time it looked like she had a real dragons snout and when I looked her teeth were sharp. I saw her one eye stare straight into mine but, I couldn't see anything else. She didn't move, she didn't talk, so I dropped to my knees. I was too late…I was too late to save her from all the torture this snake did to her. They nearly killed her; I am surprised she is even still breathing. With all the wounds and blood loss there is no way she should still be functioning. I grabbed my chest and tears began to fall down my face. I then stood back up and cupped her faced softly.
"I am so sorry Isamu…I am so sorry I was late…I am so sorry they did all of this to you…please when we get out of here…please forgive me."
As I bent down to get in closer the black cloth fell from her face. I looked over and I saw it…I shook my head and pulled the torch in closer. Isamu winced and shut her other eye from the light. I put my hand up and hovered over the eye socket that was exposed. They took her eye…and that whole side of that face was cut up covered in blood and I even saw some burn marks. I stood back up and placed the cloth back over, I couldn't stand to look at it anymore. To know I did this to her…this was all of my fault.
I then heard footsteps behind me and jerked to face the door. I saw too large shinobi dressed in all black standing on the fallen door staring at me.
"Who do you think you are? What are you doing in here!"
I dropped down and was able to use earth release since this was inside of a mountain. Before either shinobi could figure out what was going on they fell into the split I made into the earth beneath them. I made sure it was deep so they wouldn't be coming back…but then I felt more shinobi coming this way. One shinobi's chakra I knew…and I knew it very well. I saw four more shinobi walk in and yes…he was the one in the middle.
"Kabuto…fancy meeting you here…"
My voice was dark and cold and all he could do was look at me and smirk. He then looked behind me and laughed a bit when he looked at Isamu.
"I see you found our dragon…you know it's really hard to break someone like her…but I think we finally hit that…looks like Orochimaru will be getting what he wants after all."
My eye went wide, and I held my kunai up pointed straight at Kabuto.
"You lay another finger on her…I will make sure to kill you and that snake!"
Kabuto laughed and the four shinobi began coming after me. I was able to dodge them and as I rolled and propped my self on my knee I began to form my chidori. Once it was at full power, I swiftly went to the first shinobi and with great speed I was able to cut through him. When I made my way to the other four I was able to cut through them before they could even move. Once all four were dead on the ground my sight went to Kabuto, but he was gone!
I ran out of the door and looked from my left to my right and didn't see any sign of him. My chidori then died out and it all hit me, my chakra fatigue kicked in. I didn't have much left at all, I slumped against the wall and slid down keeping my eye on Isamu. She moved a little and I saw her eye open slightly again, it then found mine. We sat there in silence for a few moments staring at each other. I then heard more footsteps getting closer to the entrance. I had no strength left to stand but I readied my kunai anyway and forced myself up. I was leaning against the wall but facing the door, I then saw three figures walk in and I waited to see who showed up this time. When they got closer, and the light of the torch was able to reveal their faces I let me arm fall and closed my eyes.
"Kakashi! Are you alright what happened!"
That was Kurenai and she came running up to me and held her hands on my shoulders. She looked me up and down and could see the exhaustion.
"Kakashi what happened…did you find Isamu…"
I opened my eye and shifted my gaze to behind me, Kurenai then followed, and she looked over at the table. She walked closer and when she was finally able to see she covered her mouth with her hands and screamed into her hands. It was muffled so hopefully no one heard. I saw tears start falling down her face and Asuma came running up to her side. Asuma held Kurenai and then looked at Isamu, he held his hand up to his mouth and closed his eyes. He then turned his head over towards me.
"Kakashi…is…is she still alive?"
I then heard rustling from behind me so I jerked back so I could see Isamu as well. She was trying to move again but her eye was closed. I could hear small whimpers and her shallow breathing. I tried to walk towards her but almost fell forward and Guy was able to catch me. I looked up at him and he nodded at me, and he turned to look at Isamu. His reaction was the same, there was shock and sadness that came over him. I even saw a tear fall down his face, this was one of the only times I've ever seen him cry.
"We have to get her out of here now…we have to get her back to the leaf and get her treated!"
Kurenai was sobbing but we all could understand what she was saying, then Asuma looked from me to Guy.
"Guy, do you think you could help me with Isamu…Kurenai, think you can help Kakashi out of here?"
Kurenai nodded and grabbed my arm and placed it over her shoulder. I then transferred my body against her and did my best in trying not to put too much weight on her. I then looked over and saw Asuma and Guy ripping the tubes from her arms. I could hear her now clearly; she was crying out in pain and I could hear her thrashing. Kurenai looked over and before I could she grabbed my face and forced it back. She looked in my eyes and shook her head.
"You don't want to see this Kakashi…"
I closed my eye and pulled my headband down with my free hand. I let my hand stay there for a moment so it could hide the tears falling. I then felt Kurenai start to pull me, so I followed, the others were behind us. I then saw Pakkun at the entrance and he looked up at me with worried eyes. I nodded at him and he then disappeared we all then started making our way back to the leaf. It took us longer since we had to walk no one was able to jump in the trees.
I turned my face towards Kurenai and caught her attention. She looked at me with worried eyes. I closed my eyes and sighed.
"Is…is she okay Kurenai?"
Kurenai looked behind her shoulder for a few moments and then returned to looking forward.
"I think she is okay…but we really need to get her to the hospital."
We finally made it to the front gates and when we got close enough the guarding shinobi came running to us. I was able to stand on my own now, so I let Kurenai go and held my arm out to the two shinobi.
"We need medical attention right away…go make sure they are prepared for her!"
The two shinobi looked from me back to Isamu, their eyes went wide in fear and they both nodded and disappeared in a blink of an eye. We then quickly made our way to the hospital and stopped when we hit the front doors. I turned around but Asuma and Guy were already rushing her in through the doors. I started to make my way after them until Kurenai stopped me. I shot her an angry glare and she just shook her head.
"Kakashi…listen to me…you don't want to see…you don't want to see her in the state she is in…I…I won't allow you to…"
Her voice was soft and broken she kept her hand on my shoulder and I sighed as I stuffed my hands in my pockets.
"Kurenai…I have been searching for her day in and day out for the past two weeks…and you're telling me I can't see her?"
Kurenai looked like she was lost for words, but after a moment she let go of my shoulder.
"I know how you feel Kakashi I really do…but if you were to go in there now and see her in that state…you would blame yourself even more…I can't have you doing that when none of this is your fault…you have to understand it's not and you did everything in your power to find her…and you found her…so let's just give it sometime and you an come back in the morning…maybe she will be cleaned up for you by then…"
I sighed and closed my eye again, I agreed with her, but it was too hard for me to just willingly leave her again. I wanted to be by her side…I needed to be by her side. I looked at Kurenai and pulled her into a quick hug. When we broke and she pulled away she gave me a broken smile because she already knew what I was going to do.
I nodded and gave her a faint smile as I turned and started running into the front doors. I slammed them open and saw the front desk so I ran over. When I got to the desk, I put my hands down and leaned forward to try and help me from falling. The lady sitting right in front of me looked up with wide eyes and a shocked expression. I looked up at her and tried to catch my breath.
"Isamu..where is she…they just brought her through…I need to be with her…"
The lady nodded slowly and when she shook herself from the shock, she looked back up at me.
"Are you a family member? Only family members are allowed in the critical unit."
I looked down for a moment, of course she would be placed in the critical unit. I then slowly looked back at her and nodded as my stomach dropped.
"Yes…I'm her husband…now please take me to her…"
The lady nodded and gestured for me to follow her. She led me down the hallway through some double doors and then we took a right. We then went down a little further and she stopped at one of the smaller doors on our left. She pointed to the door and looked in.
"This is her room…I'm not sure if she is in there right now but…you are more then welcome to take a seat and wait for her…"
I nodded and bowed quickly to show my thanks to the lady and opened the door. When I walked in the room was empty, that means Asuma and Guy weren't able to stay. I closed the door behind me and took a seat next to the bed she would be in. I was only able to sit for so long, I then got up and began pacing back and forth. I kept looking at the clock and the hours went by and still no Isamu.
We were coming up on about 4 hours now and I then jerked my attention to the door as the knob started to turn. I saw an older man dressed in white come in and he looked up at me in surprise.
"Who are you? We aren't allowing visitors for critical unit patients…"
I ran up to the doctor and put my hand on his shoulder. I looked at him with a worry filled eye and I felt it was beginning to water over.
"Isamu is my wife…and I was sent back here…now tell me is she okay…will I be able to see her soon?"
The doctor nodded and sighed; he gave me a saddened smile.
"Oh, my apologies…well your wife suffered major damage…there will be a long recovery time…"
I let go of him and stepped back, I found myself falling into the chair next to her bed. The doctor came closer and looked at the bed and back to me.
"Can you tell me…what kinds of damages were…"
I couldn't even finish my sentence before I choked and felt the tears fall. The doctor sighed and grabbed a chair and sat down next to me.
"Well for starters…she had multiple stab wounds all over her body. They were deep and opened wide…she lost a lot of blood…more blood than any normal person could lose…She broke many of her ribs…. her collar bone is broken…her left leg is broken and in very bad shape…Her left eye…that was…"
I put my face in my hands and started to shake, I couldn't look up at the doctor I couldn't even speak so he continued.
"Her left eye was fully removed when she arrived…it looked like it had been forcefully removed and there were precise cut marks…which to me made it seem like it was medically removed…"
The doctor then got quiet, and I could feel his eyes on me. I looked up and rested my chin on my hands that were placed together resting against my mouth. I then shot my glance over at the doctor. He got up ready to leave the room but before he left he turned around.
"Do you know how this happened…where was your wife that she could have been put in this bad of a position? Is she a shinobi like you?"
I never moved I just shot my eye over to him, I couldn't tell him the truth so I tried my best to be evasive.
"Yes…she is a shinobi…and Jonin actually. She was placed on a solo mission and when she didn't return in a timely manner well…My fell shinobi and I went looking for her and found her like…"
I couldn't finish the last part I got choked up and the doctor noticed. He nodded and had a faint smile on his face.
"Okay…well she should be brought back here in no time…our team is just making sure she is stable enough…"
He then placed his hand on my shoulder trying to console me and left the room. When the door closed, I fell back in my chair and looked up at the ceiling. I could feel my stomach drop and my eyes began to water. I just can't believe what they did to her…and how she is still even alive. All that happened to her…it would have killed any normal person. I am grateful that she is still alive don't get me wrong but, If I would have kept a better sense on the situation back in the arena or if I would have been able to follow Kabuto…all of this could have been avoided. She would still be here and safe…but now she is in the critical unit and her body demolished by that damn snake!
I closed my eyes and sighed as I tightened my fists. Just as I was peaking in my anger I heard the door start to open. I jolted up to my feet and waited to see who was coming in this time. I then saw a nurse walk in and pulling a stretcher in the room with…Isamu on it. There was another nurse on the other side of the stretcher helping to push it into the room gently. I kept my eye glued on Isamu, she was still unconscious and covered in bandages and had a few casts. I could see some of the bandages were already bled through though and my stomach dropped. I then saw the nurses were trying to get her onto the bed in the room, so I rushed over to help them. They looked at me with saddened smiles.
"Thank you sir…she is in pretty bad shape and will be unconscious for some time…we will be back shortly to check in…can I get you anything?"
I shook my head slowly as I was still staring at Isamu. The nurse understood and didn't say anything else and left the room. I then went to the side of the bed and fell to my knees. I lightly grabbed her fingers in my hand that were not bandaged. I shook my head as I was still in shock at what has happened to her…it was almost unbelievable. I then stood up still holding on to her as I looked at her face. I could see one eye that was exposed and it was closed. I sighed, at least she looked peaceful right now and not staring at me with that scared tired eye like when I found her. I let go of her fingers and moved to her hair. I began stroking her head softly as I continued to stare down at her.
"I am so sorry Isamu…I made a promise to you that I would always be by your side and protect you…and you were left alone for weeks being tortured by that…snake…I am so sorry…"
I couldn't say anything else, I could feel my emotions overcome me. I closed my eyes, and I could feel tears start to fall. I heard the door open again but, I didn't care at the moment so I stayed put. I then felt a hand on my shoulder so I opened my eyes slowly and turned my head to the side to see who it was. My eye went a little wide to see it was Kurenai.
"Kurenai…what are you doing here? How did you get in?"
She gave a soft smile to me and then crossed her arms as she came to my side staring down at Isamu. I could feel her sadness and see it in her eyes, but then she chuckled so I looked at her with a puzzled expression.
"Well…they said only family can be back in the critical unit so I…you know said I was her sister…"
She shook her head and had a saddened smile on her face as she put her hand gently on Isamu's arm. She then looked back at me with a curious look.
"How did you get back here? Have you been back here the whole time since you came into the hospital?"
I gave a smile and chuckled as well, but it just turned back to the saddened state I was in.
"Yes, I have been in this room the entire time waiting for them to bring her in here…they just got her in a few minutes ago… as for the other part well…as you saying you are her 'sister' well I said I was…her husband…"
I looked down at Isamu with a soft smile as I ran the back of my fingers softly down the side of her exposed face. I just realized how much I truly love this woman…and how hurt I was to think that I had lost her. I then turned my gaze over to Kurenai since she didn't say anything back. Her eyes were wide, and she was staring intently at me. I shrugged my shoulders at her.
"You told them you were her husband?...wow, that's something I'd never think you would ever do or say…you have been breaking the rules a lot lately…what have you done with the real Kakashi?"
She smiled as did I, we laughed a bit, and I shook my head.
"To be honest Kurenai…with Isamu it's different…I would do anything in my power to keep her safe and do what I needed to do to make sure of it…I'm just a different person with her…because…"
I couldn't finish my sentence because she already did for me.
"Because you love her…I know…"
She smiled and I could see tears start to stream down her face now. I put my hand on her shoulder and pulled her in to a side hug.
"You know Kakashi…I think of Isamu as my sister…even though we aren't blood…she was always there for me no matter what…and I truly do consider her that…I love her too…and just seeing her like this it…"
She couldn't continue, she began crying harder, so I began to rub the side of her arm and let her cry into me. Just then, I saw some movement coming from Isamu so my eyes darted to her face again. I saw her exposed eye begin to open slowly so I shook Kurenai a little and she looked back with me. We stood their in-tense anticipation for her to wake. Her eye then opened enough to be able to see where she was looking. She was looking down and then her eye came to me and Kurenai. There was worry and confusion radiating from her. I let go of Kurenai and held her hand closest to me. I shook my head and bent down a little and I saw her eye follow me.
"Try not to move Isamu…just be calm…"
I whispered this and Kurenai stood there staring intently at Isamu. Isamu's eye then made it over to Kurenai, she then dropped to her knees and held her hand on top of Isamu's head gently stroking it.
"It's okay Isamu…we are here…we aren't going anywhere…"
I could then see Isamu's eye begin to water…most of her face was covered including her mouth so she wasn't able to talk. Because of this I wanted to make sure she was calm and not start to try to move or get up. I then looked over at Kurenai and placed my hand on her shoulder.
"Kurenai…can you go grab one of the nurses and tell her that Isamu is awake?"
Kurenai darted her gaze to me and with a stern face she nodded and ran out of the door. I stayed next to Isamu, and I could see her staring straight at me, she tried to move her head a few times, but I could see it caused her great pain. She winced and closed her eye tight, so I would continue to talk to her and make sure she was calm and still. I then dropped to my knees again so I was closer to her face, her eye followed my every move. I shook my head and then looked up to her with determination burning in my eyes.
"I promise Isamu…I am going to make sure that damn snake pays for what he did to you…I will do everything in my power to protect you…to make sure you never end up like this every again…"
I could feel the tears start to fall again; I couldn't believe how emotional I was. It was so foreign that it hurt even more. I then closed my eyes and turned my head to the side, but my eye shot open when I felt something on my hand. Isamu had taken her fingers and found my hand and grabbed on to it the best she could. I looked from her hand back to her face and I could see a smile form in her eye. I removed my mask and placed my lips softly against where hers would be and then to her forehead.
"I love you Isamu…with all my heart…so please make it through this…I want to hold you and see your beautiful smile again…"
I began to try and move my legs and arms; my body was finally free of being paralyzed. I really didn't like that I had to be paralyzed almost the whole day, but even with the movement I had, whatever jutsu Kabuto put on these it made me weak. I knew he said that before he left, and right now it felt like I was lying here strapped up for an eternity. I never heard anyone walk by and no one ever came into the room after Kabuto left.
I tried to thrash but I only ended up being able to for a minute at most and my body gave out. I tried screaming and there was no response, I tried everything to get out. I made tight fists and closed my eyes, how was I going to get out of this one? Just as I tried lifting myself up so I could see around the room better I saw the knob on the door start to turn. My heart began racing and my eyes were glued on the door. I was stiff and laid myself back down. When the door opened, I saw Kabuto walk in but, there were two other shinobi behind him. They were mostly covered except for their eyes; their head coverings had the sound village symbol on them. Kabuto came closer but the two shinobi stayed by the door. Kabuto Smirked and grabbed my face and forced it up so I had to make eye contact with him.
"You know Orochimaru has been watching you for some time…and I was a little skeptical of his plan to lure you out…I'm surprised it worked so easily on you and the copy ninja…but we have you now and that's all that matters."
He leaned in closer, and he was getting way too close for comfort. When his face was only a few inches from mine I spit in his face and tried headbutting him, but he was too quick. He stood up and wiped his face and his smirk turned to a frown now. He looked back at the table on the opposite side of the room. He walked over and stood in front of it for a few moments and came back with a small sword. It looked like a katana just smaller. He inspected it for a moment and when he came next to me, I stared at him and the sword intently. I didn't say a word, but he closed his eyes and held his open hand over the blade. His hand began to glow, and a weird light purple coated the blade. Once it was fully coated, he opened his eyes and hovered over me. He had the blade in his right hand and his free hand came up to my face again. He caressed it and ran his fingers down my neck. His eyes were staring intently at the dragon's head on my neck and then started moving down. He grabbed the blade and placed it under my shirt, I closed my eyes because I really didn't want to see what he was going to do next. I felt the blade run from my neck down to my hips, but it never cut me. I opened one eye and saw he cut my shirt down the middle and ripped it off. He began following the dragon tattoo but got stopped by my right arm. He held it up and inspected it and how it contrasted the rest of my body.
"You know, Orochimaru advised we would need to torture you to provoke the spirit because you would not call it out willingly…"
Suddenly he ran the sharp part of the blade down my arm, and I felt blood start falling down my arm to the bed. I closed my eyes shut and tried to keep back any kind of sound from the pain I felt. I then felt him release my arm and it went back to lying above my head still connected to the bed post. I looked up and could see the long cut Kabuto made, but something wasn't right. I squinted my eyes and the blood looked off…it almost looked black. I wasn't sure if this was true, or the darkness made it look that way. Kabuto scoffed and crossed his arms as he made his way back to the front door.
"We are still waiting on Orochimaru to return before we can start anything but, I'm sure he wouldn't mind if we got started a little early…"
He looked at the other two shinobi and nodded as he walked out and closed the door behind him. The two shinobi stood there for a moment and then went to the table on the opposite side of the room. They stood there for a moment and when they turned back towards me, I saw they both had a different weapon in their hand from the table. My heart began to race, and I felt anxiety overcome me, I tried to scream but before I could one of the shinobi was on top of me and had his hand forced against my mouth. I could see a faint smirk form and he pulled up a black material in his free hand.
"We don't want you to be too loud…don't want the others to be disturbed…"
His voice was cold, and it sent shivers down my spine. My eyes were open wide in fear as he placed the material over my mouth so now, I couldn't say anything. The shinobi stayed on top of me, hovering over me our faces not too far apart. I was now trembling partly because I had no idea what they were going to do with me, but also because Kabuto ripped my shirt off and I was exposed to the cold air in the room. The only warmth I felt was the warm breath from the shinobi on top of me. He suddenly placed his hand on my neck and held it tight. I struggled because he was not fully choking me, but it was close, it was hard to breathe and all I could see was the Shinobi's eyes light up. I saw his other hand disappear and shortly after I felt an awful pain in my shoulder. I moved my eyes over to try and see what happened and there was a kunai sticking out of my left shoulder. It was deep and all I could see was the handle, the whole blade was stuck in my shoulder. I began to get lightheaded from the blood loss and the little air I was getting. The shinobi then grabbed the kunai and ripped it out of my shoulder. I screamed as much as I could, I know no one would hear but I couldn't hold it back. I closed my eyes shut and I felt tears begin to form, but just when I was about to overcome the pain, I felt another sharp pain on my lower side. I saw the shinobi's hand now a little behind his side and when he let go the kunai was now stuck in my side.
I could hear the shinobi laughing and the one behind him joined in, they were enjoying torturing me and how helpless I was against them. I felt my blood start to fall from my shoulder and side and the shinobi stabbed me once again on my other side. This one did it for me, after he ripped it from my other side the room began to get blurry. My eyes began to get heavy, and I saw the shinobi come in closer to my face. He held it forcefully and shook it to try and keep me awake. Nothing he was going to do would keep me awake now, I felt my eyes close on their own and blackness came.
I started to open my eyes slowly, when my vision was clear and I came to, the pain rushed through my body. I winced and as I looked at my arm and down to my sides, I noticed they did nothing with the stab wounds. They let me bleed and kept all my wounds open. When I noticed this, I tried to keep as still as possible so I wouldn't tear and open any of the wounds more than they already were. I felt massive pain on all parts of my body though, I tried to look down at my legs and feet. I was able to see my pants were ripped almost to shreds and blood outlined most of the openings. I saw dark on parts of my legs, but I couldn't tell if it was just the dragon tattoo or more blood from the slashes on my legs.
As I looked around, I noticed no one was in the room so I laid my head back looking up at the ceiling. My mouth was still covered so I just let the tears fall, there was not much I could do now. The straps were still covered in Kabuto's jutsu, so they kept me weak and unable to try and get loose. He must have come in and out transferring chakra because there is no way a jutsu would be able to…last this long. I opened my eyes and looked to the side, how long have I really been in here for? Orochimaru still has not come, at least not from what I knew. There were no windows so I couldn't see the position of the sun…there were no clocks…. there was nothing to let me know. I then saw the doorknob begin to turn and my eyes shot straight to the door. My heart began racing again as I waited for the door to fully open. When it did my heart dropped and I felt my whole body stiffen.
I looked straight into his snake like eyes, and I was locked in place. It was Orochimaru…he finally came to see his prize. When Orochimaru came fully in Kabuto was behind him. I squinted my eyes and saw that Orochimaru's arms were lifeless and dark. They had no movement and were almost as black as my right arm. I looked back to his face and saw he was trying to hide it but, his face showed he was in a great deal of pain. When I saw Kabuto again, he was kind of behind Orochimaru, it looked like he was helping him stay up and be able to move. I wondered what would have happened to him to where he got damaged this badly. I always knew him being the great Sanin he was powerful, but he also became almost inhuman over time. When he left the Leaf and became a rouge ninja, I would hear very strange stories about him. I heard how he was stealing young people's faces and bodies to keep him young. It sounded like he was basically immortal. I don't know how much of those stories are true, though from the looks of him and what he has done it could be possible.
The two started to slowly come closer to me, I kept my eyes on Orochimaru the whole time. The closer they got the more his eyes widened, and a smirk started to form on his face. He looked me up and down and his eyes would linger on my open wounds. He bent down so his face could be close to mine as he stared straight into my eyes. He stayed locked with me for a few moments and said nothing.
"Sir, we have been able to keep her restrained and the dragon spirit from being released. My fellow shinobi did have some…fun though before you returned."
Kabuto was standing not too far from behind him and was staring intently at me. I just looked from Kabuto and Orochimaru preparing myself for whatever was to come next. I then saw Orochimaru wince and stand back up as he turned to Kabuto.
"I think they have had enough fun with this…it's my turn now."
He looked over his shoulder and his long tongue stuck out as he moved it around his lips. Kabuto then smirked and nodded and stood still as Orochimaru slowly left the room. Kabuto then made his way over and the other two shinobi came in as well waiting for Kabuto's instruction. Kabuto looked back and nodded at both as he pointed to my straps.
"Okay you two…untie her from the bed posts and take her to the torture room…make sure when you put her in there to secure her with the same straps so she can't escape."
The two shinobi nodded and began untying the straps at the same time. One at my feet the other doing my wrists. When I was released from the bed posts I felt my arms and legs drop to the bed. I tried lifting them, but they felt like they were made of rock. They were too heavy for me to even move an inch so I was laying there in the same position. The one shinobi that was untying my wrists then grabbed me and threw me over his shoulder. The other shinobi came up and tied my wrists and feet together. They then opened the door and started to make their way down the hallway we came in through. I kept trying to look around to see if anything looked familiar, but I was still too weak and my vision was still blurry and out of sorts.
We continued for a few moments until they took a right down a different hallway and came up to a larger set of doors. They both had to open them and when they closed the door behind us, I was able to barley see some things that were in the room. I could see posts positioned closely together that had clamps on them. I saw multiple tables placed on the sides of the room, I just couldn't quiet make out what were on the tables. I saw other odd machines in the room. They had all different kinds of torture devices and places to hold the person in place. They already tortured me and now it was Orochimaru's turn, I couldn't help think that he is going to do a lot worse to me. My heart began to race, and I felt a headrush come on that made the room spin. I felt like I was going to be sick and when it didn't stop I was sick. I ended up puking on the shinobi's back that was holding me. He heard and I think he felt it and I felt him jerk around and saw his face look down over his shoulder. He cussed to the other shinobi and threw me on the ground, I landed on my side, and I just laid there since I couldn't move. The other shinobi came over to me and forcefully lifted me to my feet and placed me against one of the large posts in the middle of the room.
The shinobi began tying the straps to the clamps on the post, he started with my hands and then my feet. When he was done, I was kind of leaning forward but was being held in place by my hands and feet being stuck to the post. I could feel my weight pushing on my wrists and ankles and it began to hurt. I closed my eyes and winced in pain as it started to strain me more. I felt the shinobi grab my face and force it up, my eyes were barley open but I could faintly see him. I could see a small smirk form under his mask and suddenly I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I looked down and he had stabbed me again and made a new wound in my upper stomach right under my breasts. He let the kunai stay in place, I could see the handle but nothing else sticking out. I looked back up and saw he was already almost to the door and before I knew it, he was gone, and I was alone…or so I thought.
I then began hearing some moaning and rustling over to my right. I slowly moved my vision to the right and it took me a few moments but I was then able to make out a figure that was tied up as well. I couldn't make out his face but it looked to be an older man and he was tied up to a few posts down from me. I could see blood dripping from his face to the ground, but he kept his head lowered. I don't think he was conscious or maybe he was coming to…it was hard to tell. I still had my mouth covering on so there was no way I could call out to him, it didn't matter though because just then I heard the large doors open again. I shot my eyes over to the doors and saw Orochimaru and Kabuto walking in. This time I saw Orochimaru's arms were heavily bandaged but still looked like he didn't have use of them. They were slightly swinging to his side as he slowly made his way over to me. Kabuto followed closely behind him until Orochimaru was only a foot away from me.
I let my head fall lifelessly and closed my eyes. I didn't want to look at him, I was just preparing for what he was going to do to me. I felt something wet and slimy running down my arm so I jerked my head up and saw Orochimaru's long tongue making its way down from my wrist to my shoulder and then down my side. Since most of my skin was exposed, I could feel every second of it and it sent shivers down my spine. I then saw his tongue come to the kunai handle in my upper stomach and wrap itself around it. Once I saw it had a good grip and it stopped moving it slowly started to pull it out. The slowness of the movement sent consistent pain throughout my chest.
Once the kunai was out he dropped it to the ground and his hand now had a grip of my chin. He slowly raised my head so that I was forced to look at him. He smiled when I finally opened my eyes and his began to glow.
"I finally have you…I finally have my dragon…there is no way I am letting you out of my grasp dear. That dragon will be mine even if I have to kill you for it…"
His voice was dark and cynical, but looking at his face he was smiling, and the excitement radiated. His excitement to finally get what he's been wanting for so long, yet I still don't understand why he wants the spirit. He then grabbed on to my mouthpiece and ripped it from my face and let it fall to the ground. I took this as my one opportunity to figure out why the hell he wants the dragon.
"Orochimaru…why do you even want this spirit…"
I was breathless and that came out as a whisper, but it looked like he heard. He laughed and let go of my face.
"This spirit…will give me the power I seek out most…this spirit will not only give me the Rinnegan but, will give me immortality. I will be the most powerful person in the world and can do what I will…You have so much power sealed away within you…you have no idea!"
It looked like he got upset at that last part, did I offend him? I knew about these powers, but I was not in the same mind set as him with what I wanted to do with it.
"You really think you're going to get this thing out of me and be able to seal it away within you?"
He was insane…even if he released it there is a high possibility that the transfer would kill him, and that Oni would then be free to wreak havoc on everything and everyone around. Plus, the whole clan was wiped out so there are no shinobi that are around that could even preform the transfer and break the seal on me. There is no way Orochimaru would even know where to begin to do this! I shook my head and laughed, it came out broken but if he could hear it, that is all that mattered to me.
I looked up at him and saw a very upset unamused face now, very different from just a few moments ago. I smirked because I knew that I am getting to him, but just as I did He dug his hands into my side and stomach wounds. He almost made fists so the wounds were being ripped and open even more. I closed my eyes and screamed in pain, I felt blood running down again and I felt Orochimaru keep moving his hands deeper into my wounds. Just as I thought I was about to pass out from the pain he pulled back. I slowly opened my eyes and saw his arms lifeless again and I looked back at Kabuto. I realized Kabuto was controlling his arms…
"Why don't you just get this over with! I'm done waiting and playing your little stupid ass games!"
Orochimaru laughed harder than he has and after a few moments he looked over to the other person that was tied up in the room with us. He then looked back at me once he saw me look over. He smiled and tilted his head as he stared at me.
"No…there are still pieces of the game you must play…and this part is where you ask that man over there who he is and why he is here with us…"
My eyes went wide, what was he talking about? Why would I want to know any of that? I slowly looked over a the man who seemed to be moving slightly. I think he was conscious and Orochimaru was staring intently at me. I don't think we was going to leave until I did what he asked. I sighed and closed my eyes, when I opened them, I looked at the man again.
"You…over there…what is your name and why are you here?"
I kept my eye on the man as I saw him start to slowly move his head so that he could see me. When his face turned fully, and his eyes met mine…my heart dropped. My eyes went wide and tears started forming in my eyes, I tried holding them back but I had no strength left. The man didn't say anything for a while, but he didn't have to…I knew who he was…I just didn't know why in the world he was here or how.
"Father…"
I whispered this which I'm sure he wasn't able to hear. I couldn't believe it was him, no I shook my head and jerked back to Orochimaru. His face answered everything for me though, his smile and his laughter said it all. This was my father, why was he here.
"Why do you have my father here! What is this you sick monster!"
Tears started streaming and I was able to yell that loud enough to even get Kabuto to look up. My heart was broken, I thought he was dead. Now he is here being tortured by Orochimaru as well, but I needed to know why. I needed to know how he survived and why he was here.
"Oh, I'll let your father spill all the details for you…I'll leave you two be…for now."
He turned his back but before he reached the doors, he turned his head to the side and glanced back at me.
"Have fun with your little family reunion…"
I watched as both walked out, and the doors closed. I just stared at the doors for what seemed like an eternity. What was I going to say? I see my father who I have thought was dead for these past years and he shows up here of all places? It just didn't make sense. I finally turned my head back so I could see him, and he let his head fall again.
"Why are you here…why is Orochimaru torturing you and keeping you tied up? I need to know…now"
I could see him start to shift and he was shaking his head slowly. He was quiet for some time, and I was about to give up when he turned his head to me.
"I am so sorry Isamu…I am so sorry for everything…"
His voice was faint and his expression turned to sadness, but he still didn't answer my questions. I shook my head and tightened my fist as much as possible.
"That doesn't answer my question…why are you here?...how are you alive? What's going on!"
All my rage came through I could feel myself burning and my heart racing. I felt pain throughout my body but I didn't care I needed answers. I stared intently at him and would not move a muscle until he answered me.
"I was weak Isamu…I was weak as your father and as a Chieftain…I am still weak…and because of it, now you have to suffer as well…"
I still didn't understand…why did being weak have anything to do with this…unless. I shook my head, I couldn't believe what I was thinking but it…all made sense now.
"You're weak still…now I must suffer at the hands of Orochimaru and…it's all your fault. You told him where I was…you sent me to the Leaf, and you knew I would still be there…you told him where to find me…what else did you tell him!"
That was it…this was my breaking point. I felt my entire body engulfed in heat and a burning sensation. I felt the rage take over me and I felt my claws begin to extend out. My vision started to turn red and I began struggling even more to get out of these straps. For some reason Oni came through even with the weakening Jutsu and it didn't make sense. I looked back over to my father and my breathing was heavy. His eyes went wide with fear of what I had just become.
"I did tell him yes…I was the one who told him about the dragon spirit…and the powers it gives and…that it was inside of you…but I never thought…he would still come after you…"
I laughed and the darkness echoed all around us. Was he kidding me? He literally sold me out and yet he thought they still wouldn't come for me?
"Why wouldn't they come for me? Orochimaru already explained everything and why he wants the spirit. So why…why would you think that after everything you told them!"
He shook his head and let it fall again. I could hear small whimpers and I saw him start to shake. He was right he is weak, this was not the Father I knew…this was a shell. He sold out his own blood along with the clan…and because of that everyone died…mother died…
" I didn't think they would come because…because it's different with you Isamu it always has been…The medical shinobi that night…she told your mother and I that the dragon willingly went to you and was sealed…but not only was he sealed within you he made his final contract with you…that's what the dragon mark is all over your body…that is his contract seal…"
I shook my head and rage overcame me…it took over my sense…my judgment…my reasoning. I don't understand a contract…was it like the one I made with those ninken wolves? Why was I different and…what did that mean? If I was the person, he made his last contract with…does that mean he is in me…forever? Do the rules on that scroll the Hokage gave me even apply to me anymore?
"What contract? There was never anything about a contract in the scroll you gave the Hokage? I don't understand any of this! Tell me know…what does that mean?"
My father scoffed and spit blood on the ground. His eyes were closed, and his breathing was slow and shallow. I could see his chakra and life force at the bottom line, and he didn't have much left in him. Regardless of this though, I needed to know everything, and I wasn't going to let him go until he tells me.
"We have no idea about the contract other than…the dragon did this because once it is made no one can transfer it to another person…The dragon is going to be sealed within you forever…so with this being said Orochimaru would not be able to release the seal and dragon spirit…"
Oni is going to be inside of me…forever? I won't ever be able to transfer him out. I'm going to be like this…forever?
My eyes went wide when I heard Oni chuckling in my head. I could feel his rage but also his excitement. I shook my head and closed my eyes; it can't be true. Even if it is…Orochimaru doesn't care he is going to find a way! He is inhuman and evil and can-do things I never thought were possible!
"Well I hate to break it to you…but even if that is the case it doesn't mean Orochimaru will just leave me…he's going to do everything and anything to get this thing out of me! And now you are saying that it can never leave?"
I began to try and pull my arms and legs free from the straps holding me still. I would scream out and smoke was rising. It was thick smoke this time, different then I have ever seen before. I then began feeling pain in my mouth, I closed my eyes and had to open my mouth. I felt my snout elongated and sharp teeth were pushing through. Once the pain was gone I jerked my head back and bit down on the strap holding my wrists.
The strap then broke within seconds and fell to the floor. I followed suite but was able to stop my fall and was holding my self up with just my hands. I then jerked my head around again and snapped the ones holding my ankles. This was it, I was free and Oni is filling me with more of his chakra then he ever has before. I felt the rage but also the power, and at this moment I wanted to run over and snap my fathers head from his body for what he has done.
Kakashi POV
I jumped through the large hole in the wall of the arena and began to jump onto the trees just outside. We were following Urushi now and Guy and Kurenai were a little behind me. I was staying close to Urushi with my heart racing and anxiety filling my body. I just kept hoping that I could get to her before that snake lays a finger on her.
I felt Kurenai gain speed and come to my side but I never looked over. I could feel her staring at my intently but, I wasn't going to lose focus. She then began to talk so I tried my best to listen.
"Kakashi…I know you are worried but we have to be on our guard…we are going into something we have no idea about. He have no idea who we will meet…or where Isamu even is…just make sure you don't do anything reckless…"
My eye shot over to Kurenai, she was right, but I was going to do everything in my power to make sure Isamu is safe…and return her home. After a few moments Kurenai fell behind and we began to slow down. Urushi stopped on one of the branches in front of us. I then stopped at his side and Kurenai and Guy were on another branch that was next to ours. I looked down at Urushi and crouched down to be closer.
"Kakashi…her blood, the scent is weakening…I will try my best to follow but…it's so faint if I can't track it anymore I won't be able to move forward…"
I nodded, I knew that was all he could do right now.
"Okay Urushi…let's hurry now but tell me at once if you lose her scent."
Urushi nodded and started to sprint to the right so the rest of us followed. We passed by many trees and openings in the forest. We started to then make our way past the wall of the Leaf village. Urushi stopped again in front of the main gates.
"This is where it ends Kakashi…I no longer can smell her scent…I am sorry."
With that he poofed away and I put my hands on my hips. I started to look around and had no idea where to even start. I grew angry with this; how can her scent stop here? I know that they teleported away but her scent should still be coming from where they stopped. I then felt a hand on my shoulder and jerked my head to the side, it was Kurenai again and Guy was right behind her.
"Kakashi…I am so sorry but…if the scent ends here…they could be anywhere…"
Her voice was sad, and her touch was gentle. I patted her hand but then I grabbed it and let it loose by her side. I shook my head and crouched down, I have to keep looking…I have to find her.
"I can't stop here…I have to keep trying…if you guys don't want to continue, I won't force you…but I have to keep trying…"
Kurenai and Guy exchanged worried glances and Guy stepped up to me this time. He gestured out to the road leading away from the village and the massive tree line and mountains in the distance.
"Kakashi…you will be out there for far too long…there is too much ground to cover and if her scent is gone…I want her back too Kakashi…I am worried just like Kurenai but right now…there is no use in wasted time searching for something we have no idea about…we need to go back to the village…"
I looked up at Guy and shook my head, no I wasn't going back. I don't care if there is too much ground to be covered and we have no idea. I just knew I had to keep trying, I wasn't going to give up on her.
"I'm not going back…"
Before either of them could answer I jumped back up into a tree and began jumping from one tree to the next. When I knew they were no longer behind me I stopped and went to the ground. I looked around and lifted my headband to reveal my sharingan. I made sure no one was in site, and I then started my summoning jutsu again. This time I called upon all my ninken. Once I saw all eight dogs appear I had them all sniff the kunai again. Once they were done, I stood back and crossed my arms.
"I know Urushi said the scent was no longer there…but we need to spread out and continue looking. We will meet up back at the Leaf's main gates at sundown unless someone is able to locate her first…does everyone understand?"
All of the dogs nodded in agreement and the swiftly jumped up into the trees in all different directions. I then jumped up into the trees and began moving forward. I looked left and right and covered everything in the areas I passed. I continued to move forward and intently search, this went on for hours. I knew my chakra was low because I have been using my sharingan for so long I was beginning to slow down. I stopped on another tree and was able to see the sun start to set. I shook my head and closed my eyes as I made a fist. I punched the side of the tree and kept still with my eyes closed. My heart was hurting and my stomach dropped, I should have been there. I should have been fast enough to keep up with them and get her from Kabuto…why did she slip through my fingers? How could I have let that happen.
I shook my head, I'll have to call it a night I can't continue in the complete darkness. I then made my way back to the main gate of the Leaf. When I returned the sun was almost completely set and I saw all eight of my ninken sitting waiting for me. That means they didn't find anything either…
I crossed my arms and when I got close enough, I stopped and eyed each one of the dogs.
"Okay…did anyone find anything? Any kind of leads….anything at all?"
I tried to keep my stern tone but it was breaking, I was filled with worry and fear and it was hard to mask right now. Just then I saw Urushi come forward and he gestured with his snout for me to look to the left of myself. I turned my head and looked back down at Urushi.
"I was able to pick up a faint scent quickly in that direction…but the further from the village I got the weaker her scent."
I nodded and waved for them to be dismissed. I then walked back through the gates and slowly started making my way back home. As I got to my front door, I saw Kurenai leaning back on the wall next to the front door. Her gaze turned to me as she walked up to me with a stern face.
"Kakashi…were you out there all day?"
She then showed her worry and I nodded back at her. I then took my hand off the doorknob and turned fully to face her.
"I was out all day yes…I was able to find a small lead…so first thing tomorrow I am going to follow that and I will continue to search until I find her…"
Kurenai nodded slowly but then she looked at the ground her face grew sad and she looked back up at me.
"The Hokage is…dead…Orochimaru killed him…"
I froze and slowly turned my gaze to her. The Hokage is dead? No, that can't be…Orochimaru really got him?
"Kurenai…is…is he really dead?"
I couldn't believe it, but if that's true then…what is he going to do to Isamu. I looked back and Kurenai was slowly nodding her head and I saw her start to cry. I then walked up to her and pulled her in to a hug. Her eyes went wide and she hesitated, after a moment she leaned into the hug.
"Yes…he is…and now Orochimaru has Isamu…what are we going to do?
I was lost for words; I had no idea what to say back. I had no idea what we were going to do…but I knew I had to keep looking for her. I looked back down at Kurenai and pulled her out in front of me.
"I am going to keep looking for Isamu…you stay here with the other Jonin and help fix the damages done. We know Orochimaru has Isamu, so he won't be coming back here…I'll bring her home Kurenai…"
She nodded slowly with wide eyes.
"Kakashi…please…bring her home…I can't bear thinking of not having here with us…I love her Kakashi I can't lose her…"
I could see the tears running down her face and nodded as I placed my hand on her shoulder.
"I love her too Kurenai…that's why I won't stop until I find her."
End of Kakashi POV
I was free and my father's eyes were wide, but they never left me. I slowly crawled over so I was then in front of him. Blood was dripping from all of my wounds to the ground but Oni made sure they weren't a problem. I looked my Father up and down as he coward, how weak he has become. It almost is sad, but I do not feel anything for this man. He took my mother away from me…he outcasted me…and now I have an opportunity. I have an opportunity to give it back because of what he has done.
I stood up and grabbed his neck to lift him up. My claws were digging into his skin and I felt his blood begin to run down my hand. I forced him to look up at me, I wanted him to stare into my eyes and see what I have become. I want him to know how strong I am and prove him wrong. I began opening my snout and I could feel fire gather in the back of my throat. I was going to burn this man, but something stopped me.
I felt someone grab me, they took my free hand and before I could react had it tied back. My father dropped and my hands were now behind my back again. Oni didn't leave though, so these restraints are not going to release Oni. I looked behind me and saw Kabuto not too far behind me. I looked down at my arms and crouched down, I didn't need my arms. I began rushing to Kabuto but I fell to the ground and saw that now my ankles were strapped together again. I fell on my stomach and winced in pain as Kabuto took one of his feet and placed it on my back. He began pushing down on my back my eyes then went wide.
I heard a loud cracking noise and my ears began to ring. The pain shot straight through my body, and he had broken something. I am not sure what he broke but even with the pain Oni was still here. He was keeping me going, without him I would probably be passed out again vulnerable.
"Good your dragon is awake…you're going to Orochimaru now…it looks like this little family reunion is done…"
I saw Kabuto smile and I felt the rage again, but I was unable to do anything, and he had two other shinobi carry me into another room. This room was a little smaller but this time they laid me on the table. They strapped me to the table and Orochimaru came in staring intently at me. I could see the fascination in his eyes and he came closer. He bent down and stared into my eyes and down to the bright red light on my chest from the dragon.
"Now that your dragon is released…we can move on to figuring out how to release him…or how to transfer that chakra to me…"
He grinned and stepped back a little as Kabuto came up to my side. He grabbed a scalpel and held my right eye open. I laid there in fear, this was all too familiar. They are going to take my eyes again…but this time I think they will accomplish it. I had one of the other shinobi come and hold my head still. He made sure he was grabbing my snout and forcing it shut. I shut my left eye and tried to prepare myself, but in my state, there was no time to prepare, my body just had to take it. He began cutting delicately to remove my eye but not damage it. The pain was almost unbearable and even in this state I began to get lightheaded and could barely comprehend what was going on around me. I saw the removed one and Kabuto was taking it over to Orochimaru but, I passed out again before I could see what they were doing.
I was able to come to and when I did I found I was still tied to the same table. I looked down and I saw my claws were still extended which means Oni was still here. I didn't understand why he was being present for so long…but deep down I felt something was wrong. I did notice they placed a covering over the eye they removed. No one was in the room but when the door knob turned and Kabuto walked in my body went stiff. He came closer to me and as he looked down, he shook his head.
"I don't understand…that should have worked…you're eye Dragon…it incinerated when we tried to place it in Orochimaru…why did it do that?"
Kabuto was angered now I could hear it in his voice and see it on his face. He grabbed my neck and I started to hear the sizzling sound. Kabuto then jumped back and held his hand close. I could see that it got burnt bad, but if I can feel the heat, I can only imagine what it feels like to someone else.
"This is all so fascinating but…also a complete pain in the ass…Your father is no longer talking so…you need to start talking…how do we get the spirit released?"
I smirked and shook my head slowly as I looked at him with a weak eye.
"Where's your master? Did that eye hurt him when it incinerated? Is that why he is not here?"
I scoffed and then laid my head back down. I heard Kabuto mumble under his breathe and I could slightly see him pacing back and forth. I shook my head as I closed my eye and tried to take a deep breath, but my chest hurt so bad.
"I don't know how to release the spirit…too bad you killed off all of the medical shinobi that would have known…"
I laughed but not because this was funny, but because I finally understood everything. They were the ones who attacked my village, they wanted me but when I escaped they took my father hostage. They have been using him to get to me and now…they have me but don't know what to do.
"Maybe you can pick my body off one by one…keep trying to transfer it that way…I'm sure it will eventually work…"
I could hear the sarcastic tone in my voice, but I just started crying. Tears were falling down my face mixed with the blood. I wanted to scream out so badly but my body wouldn't let me. I then opened my eye and looked up and the tears began to fall even harder. Kakashi…I just want him so bad right now…I'm so scared and weak and he's gone…I don't know if I'll ever see him again…but right now the thought of being back with him was keeping me going.
Kabuto then huffed and stormed out of the room slamming the door shut. I smiled, they have no idea what they are doing. Orochimaru will kill himself before ever getting the dragon spirit released.
"Oni…are you there?...can you hear me?"
I was speaking out to Oni since he was still present, but I wasn't sure if he would be able to come through. I then heard a loud echo in my head and I winced a little.
"Yes I can…what do you need of me? I'm doing what I can to keep you alive…I'll be damned if I die like this here with you…"
I laughed a little then coughed as I closed my eyes.
"Oni…with what my Father said and what you just said…if I die you die…then does this contract really mean you are going to be sealed inside me forever? Can you not be released?"
It was quiet for some time and then I felt Oni and his rage and his voice echoed even louder.
"Yes human I am bound within you until you die…I am unable to be released that would break the contract and would mean my life…"
I nodded, I understood and thankfully he could confirm that with me.
"So…does that mean I still will die at 40 from what the scroll said?"
I heard Onis laughter, and it made my ears ring.
"No child…that was never a condition…that was when the first chieftain met his demise and that's how old he was…the clan thought that I killed him and came up with that assumption themselves…there is no age or time that you will die…it's just when that day comes I will die because you are my last contract…there is so much time we are allowed up here in your world…when that time is up….we are done and return home…"
I was still confused, but at least I know I won't die from Oni like that. That was the last I heard of Oni though for some time. He was present but became dormant, and then Kabuto decided to move me back to our previous room. My father was still tied to where he was before, he was just more banged up. They must be torturing him again trying to figure out something that will never happen. They began torturing me more until I was at my breaking point. They were at it for at least three hours, I don't know exactly how long but I feel like I have been here for days…even weeks! There were no windows no way to see the sunshine or see the moon glow at night. There was nothing to help me at all try and figure our how long I have been here or even where I was.
Kabuto and the other two shinobi decided that it was enough for today and the left us still tied. I slowly looked over at my father, I tried but I couldn't get a good look. I sighed and let my head fall again.
"Father…I'm going to get us out of here…"
I heard him gasp and I could hear him rustling around.
"What do you mean? How are we going to get out of here when even with the dragon spirit you can't get lose from those straps…"
His voice was loud and anxious, I then asked for Oni when he answered.
"Oni…is there anything you can do to help get me out of these restraints? We need to get out of here and now…"
Oni screeched a little and took a few moments to answer.
"Yes…but this may hurt…"
At this point I didn't even care…I was already in so much pain. I nodded and gave Oni the okay. It was quiet for a moment until I felt my hands and feet start to sting and burn. I cried out and opened my eye trying to get a glimpse and my arms and legs were on fire! I saw the straps start to incinerate though, and once they were fully gone I fell to the ground. I groaned for a moment and tried to collect myself before getting up. I got up slowly and made my way to my father. I looked at him and placed my hand on his wrist straps and then the leg straps. The fire was able to take care of his as well and he was going to fall to the ground but I was able to catch him in time. I stood him back up and as I did I started to look around trying to see if there was a way out. I then closed my eyes and focused I could feel a slight draft come in from the large doors. I gestured for my father to follow so he did and stayed close behind. We walked out the front doors and I kept following the draft I felt. We were running up a hallway and then we hit a normal sized door. It was the only one that I could see so I slowly opened the door. I slowly started to enter with my fire at the ready. When I entered the room there were windows…I saw the sun…I had to squint because of how bright it was. I then moved in more and looked around. I didn't see or sense anyone and as I went to the window and looked out I saw a heavy tree line. I saw rocks to the sides and nodded. I came back in and grabbed my father.
"This is the way out…no matter what just keep running…don't stop running."
My father looked at me and nodded slowly, we then got up and opened the door and began running. My father was in front of me and I was behind so I could sense if anything comes. I did start to have a bad feeling back in the bottom of my stomach. It was quiet…too quiet and we have not seen one shinobi the whole time. This doesn't feel right and as I was about to call out to my father I fell to the ground. I screamed in pain and tried to prop myself up on my elbows. I tried to get up but my left leg gave out and sent pain all through me. I slowly looked back and saw that my left leg was broken, I then shot my glance to scan around us trying to figure out what happened. I then saw a kunai fly straight towards me. I threw it to the side and turned to face my father who was still standing there with wide eyes and fear.
"Father run….run….don't look back…."
I started coughing and I was now coughing up blood that coated my hand. My father nodded and began running, I turned my attention to behind me and saw Kabuto and now he had four other shinobi with him. He looked at me and then looked in the direction my father went. His face was red and I could see his anger.
"Nice try dragon…we won't let you get away so easily…as for him well…we'll take care of him."
Kabuto looked at the two shinobi to his left and gestured for them to go after my father. The nodded and were off, I held my arm out to stop them, but I wasn't able to do anything. I couldn't get up, I couldn't move, all I could do was stare at Kabuto as he came up to me. He ordered the other two shinobi to carry me back in. I winced as they picked me up and saw my leg dangling and it was bent in the wrong direction. I then looked around again quickly before they took me back in and, I still had no idea where we were. Somewhere deep within the forest I knew that so I shook my head, there was no way anyone would find us. I then looked back at the way my father began running, I just hope that he can get away…I know what he did was wrong…but he was still my father, and he doesn't deserve death…at least not from my hand.
Kabuto and the other shinobi put me back in the room where I was strapped to the table. Kabuto strapped me down and when he did, I became exhausted. I was fighting to keep my eye open and as I did I saw Kabuto smile as he looked down at me.
"Now comes the fun…"
Kakashi POV
It was now hitting almost two weeks of searching. The village was back to being as structured as possible. We were now trying to figure out with the elders who was going to be the next Hokage. With all of this I continued to search for Isamu every day, each day passed and I began to grow more and more worried. I wasn't sleeping I wasn't eating I just kept going. This morning when I woke up, I felt heavy and had a slow start. I sent all of my ninken out again and I began searching in different areas. I would put markings on trees in the areas I already scouted so I wouldn't get confused. I continued and I could see the sun was starting to set again. I went to a rock that was right in front of a small river. I sat down and stared into the water as it was running by.
"Where are you Isamu…I can't lose you…please…don't leave me…"
I could feel tears start to run down both of my eyes as they dropped to the ground. I then felt a gush of wind next to my leg so I turned my gaze over. It was Pakkun, I perked up and gave my full attention to him.
"Kakashi…I have her scent…it's strong…follow me quickly."
My eyes went wide and my heart began to race again. The adrenaline that filled my body was able to move me forward and with out question I started to follow Pakkun. We jumped from tree to tree, and I was getting more anxious as we passed each tree.
"Pakkun…are we close?"
Pakkun looked behind to me and continued moving. I knew that was a yes from him, so I started to really scan the area around us as we continued. I wasn't going to miss anything, not when I have an opportunity to find her. Pakkun then stopped on a large rock and I jumped down and landed next to him. I then heard rustling in the bushes and trees not too far in front of us. I grabbed my kunai and began rushing to where the movement was coming from. I then saw an older man running but he was weak so he was tripping over almost everything. I jumped so that I was now standing in front of him blocking his path. Pakkun also jumped and met me at my side. I looked up at the man and his eyes were wide but he was covered in blood. His clothes were rags and he looked really beat up. He stood there in silence for a moment and I realized he wouldn't be able to attack me so I let my guard down. Pakkun then went up to him and sniffed at him. He then turned his head and barked at me.
"Some of that dried blood is Isamu's…that's what I was smelling…"
My eyes went wide when I heard that her blood was on this man. I got angry and took him by the throat and slammed him against the nearest tree. I held him up high, so he was struggling, and I looked up at him with rageful eyes.
"Why is Isamu's blood on you? Where is she!"
The man was still trying to struggle but he was also trying to speak.
"Le…let me down….and I will tell you…"
I let him fall to the ground and heard him wince, I kept my eyes intently on him being able to anticipate every move he will make. The man slowly got up and rubbed his back as he tried to straighten out. He then pointed to behind him, and I looked but only saw tree line and bushes.
"She…is back there…she saved my life but…they took her…"
My heart sank and I turned to the man, instead of anger I was now full of anxiety needing to know more.
"What do you mean she saved your life? Who took her? Was it Orochimaru?"
The man nodded and sat down on the nearest rock next to him as he slowly looked up at me.
"Yes…I am Isamu's father, and they were holding me hostage. They then brought Isamu in a few weeks ago I believe, and she was by my side for a short period…but in that period she was able to break us free and buy me time to run away…but they got her and took her back…"
This was Isamu's father? I thought everyone was killed in her clan the night she left and came to the leaf. How was he alive and standing right in front of me? I shook my head, no this can be talked about later. I need to know about Isamu and I needed to get to her now.
"Do you know where they took her? Can you at least point me in the direction? I need to save her…"
The man looked at me in the eyes intently and then he sighed as he pointed off in the direction he was running from.
"There is a hidden door not too far from here in that direction…keep going straight and you will see just keep to the mountain side the door is embedded into the side of the mountain…you'll see it just keep your eyes out…"
I nodded and stood up ready to start heading over when I forgot to ask him something, something I was dreading asking. I looked down at him as he had his head hanging down.
"Is…is she okay? Tell me Isamu is okay."
The man slowly lifted his head and looked back up at me. I could see his eyes begin to water and tears fell down the side of his face. He shook his head and my stomach dropped.
"I couldn't do anything…I couldn't do anything to help her…she was alive when I got out but…I can't say for when they took her back…"
He put his head in his hands and I looked at Pakkun.
"Pakkun get him back to the Leaf and get him medical attention…"
Pakkun nodded but as he stood, he hesitated and looked over at me.
"You're going in there all alone? You really think that is a good idea?"
I nodded and pointed in the direction of the Leaf village.
"When you return and get him taken care of…seek out Kurenai, Guy, and Asuma if you can and lead them to me…take this so you can keep my sent."
I bent down and placed a piece of cloth from my shirt and put it in Pakkun's collar. He looked up at me and nodded and went over to the man and bit his pant leg. The man looked at Pakkun and then me, and before they were about to leave, he stopped me.
"How…how do you know Isamu…why where you out here?"
My eyes went a little wide in shock but I knew I had to make this quick and we could talk more when I get Isamu home.
"Isamu is someone I care for deeply and I made a promise to her…and I am keeping my promise."
With that I began running in the direction he pointed out. It took me some time, but I finally made it to an opening, and I could see a silhouette of a door in the side of the mountain side. I walked up to the door I held the door knob and turned it slowly. I held my Kunai in my free hand and had my guard up as I walked into the room. I looked around and I didn't see or sense anyone present. I started looking around and found another hidden door in the corner of the room. I put my hand on this knob and instantly I got a shiver up my spine. I was so scared to see what I was going to walk into…I just hope she is alive…please Isamu…keep fighting…I am finally here and when I have you in my arms you can finally rest.
I opened the door and it looked like a dark hallway that was lit up with torches every so often. I began making my way down the hallway and keeping my eye out for any shinobi I might cross. I had my sharingan activated still so I would be able to see them coming. Just then I slowed my steps and shook my head, I looked from one side of the hallway to the next. There were at least four different doors, two on each side. I kept looking at them all trying to figure out which one to start with. I sighed and I started with the first one on my left, so I went over and put my hand on the knob. I tried to turn it, but I was locked. I stood back and closed my eyes, I began to conjure up enough lightening in my hand for my chidori. Once I had enough, I opened my eyes and ran to the door and broke through it. The door then fell and made a big thud when it landed. Well…if no one knew I was here…they do now.
I began walking slowly into the room, it was very dark. There was one small torch in the right corner of the room and all I could see was a small table under the torch. I began walking up to the table and as I looked down, I saw different kinds of medical tools. They were all covered in blood, and by the looks of it, it was fresh blood. I picked up a scalpel and examined it until I heard rustling behind me. Someone was in here but I couldn't see so I reached out to grab the torch from the wall. I held it in my hand and as I turned, I walked slowly to where the noise was coming from. I then came across a larger table and saw movement from on the table. I moved my eyes slowly from her feet strapped to the table all the way up to where her dragon tattoo stopped at her neck. My eyes began to water as I looked closer. Her whole body was covered in open stab wounds and dried blood. Her leg was broken and how it was strapped to the table really showed that. She barley had any clothing on, and I could see tubes were sticking in both of her arms. I moved up to where her head was laying and I put the torch up a little above us so the light could expose her more.
She winced and slowly turned her head towards me, and her one visible eye slowly opened but couldn't open fully. There was blood falling from her left eye and a black cloth covered it. She…she looked like Oni was giving her his chakra. She still had her claws, and I could see the smoke lifting from her mouth and nose. When I bent down a little I saw something different though…this time it looked like she had a real dragons snout and when I looked her teeth were sharp. I saw her one eye stare straight into mine but, I couldn't see anything else. She didn't move, she didn't talk, so I dropped to my knees. I was too late…I was too late to save her from all the torture this snake did to her. They nearly killed her; I am surprised she is even still breathing. With all the wounds and blood loss there is no way she should still be functioning. I grabbed my chest and tears began to fall down my face. I then stood back up and cupped her faced softly.
"I am so sorry Isamu…I am so sorry I was late…I am so sorry they did all of this to you…please when we get out of here…please forgive me."
As I bent down to get in closer the black cloth fell from her face. I looked over and I saw it…I shook my head and pulled the torch in closer. Isamu winced and shut her other eye from the light. I put my hand up and hovered over the eye socket that was exposed. They took her eye…and that whole side of that face was cut up covered in blood and I even saw some burn marks. I stood back up and placed the cloth back over, I couldn't stand to look at it anymore. To know I did this to her…this was all of my fault.
I then heard footsteps behind me and jerked to face the door. I saw too large shinobi dressed in all black standing on the fallen door staring at me.
"Who do you think you are? What are you doing in here!"
I dropped down and was able to use earth release since this was inside of a mountain. Before either shinobi could figure out what was going on they fell into the split I made into the earth beneath them. I made sure it was deep so they wouldn't be coming back…but then I felt more shinobi coming this way. One shinobi's chakra I knew…and I knew it very well. I saw four more shinobi walk in and yes…he was the one in the middle.
"Kabuto…fancy meeting you here…"
My voice was dark and cold and all he could do was look at me and smirk. He then looked behind me and laughed a bit when he looked at Isamu.
"I see you found our dragon…you know it's really hard to break someone like her…but I think we finally hit that…looks like Orochimaru will be getting what he wants after all."
My eye went wide, and I held my kunai up pointed straight at Kabuto.
"You lay another finger on her…I will make sure to kill you and that snake!"
Kabuto laughed and the four shinobi began coming after me. I was able to dodge them and as I rolled and propped my self on my knee I began to form my chidori. Once it was at full power, I swiftly went to the first shinobi and with great speed I was able to cut through him. When I made my way to the other four I was able to cut through them before they could even move. Once all four were dead on the ground my sight went to Kabuto, but he was gone!
I ran out of the door and looked from my left to my right and didn't see any sign of him. My chidori then died out and it all hit me, my chakra fatigue kicked in. I didn't have much left at all, I slumped against the wall and slid down keeping my eye on Isamu. She moved a little and I saw her eye open slightly again, it then found mine. We sat there in silence for a few moments staring at each other. I then heard more footsteps getting closer to the entrance. I had no strength left to stand but I readied my kunai anyway and forced myself up. I was leaning against the wall but facing the door, I then saw three figures walk in and I waited to see who showed up this time. When they got closer, and the light of the torch was able to reveal their faces I let me arm fall and closed my eyes.
"Kakashi! Are you alright what happened!"
That was Kurenai and she came running up to me and held her hands on my shoulders. She looked me up and down and could see the exhaustion.
"Kakashi what happened…did you find Isamu…"
I opened my eye and shifted my gaze to behind me, Kurenai then followed, and she looked over at the table. She walked closer and when she was finally able to see she covered her mouth with her hands and screamed into her hands. It was muffled so hopefully no one heard. I saw tears start falling down her face and Asuma came running up to her side. Asuma held Kurenai and then looked at Isamu, he held his hand up to his mouth and closed his eyes. He then turned his head over towards me.
"Kakashi…is…is she still alive?"
I then heard rustling from behind me so I jerked back so I could see Isamu as well. She was trying to move again but her eye was closed. I could hear small whimpers and her shallow breathing. I tried to walk towards her but almost fell forward and Guy was able to catch me. I looked up at him and he nodded at me, and he turned to look at Isamu. His reaction was the same, there was shock and sadness that came over him. I even saw a tear fall down his face, this was one of the only times I've ever seen him cry.
"We have to get her out of here now…we have to get her back to the leaf and get her treated!"
Kurenai was sobbing but we all could understand what she was saying, then Asuma looked from me to Guy.
"Guy, do you think you could help me with Isamu…Kurenai, think you can help Kakashi out of here?"
Kurenai nodded and grabbed my arm and placed it over her shoulder. I then transferred my body against her and did my best in trying not to put too much weight on her. I then looked over and saw Asuma and Guy ripping the tubes from her arms. I could hear her now clearly; she was crying out in pain and I could hear her thrashing. Kurenai looked over and before I could she grabbed my face and forced it back. She looked in my eyes and shook her head.
"You don't want to see this Kakashi…"
I closed my eye and pulled my headband down with my free hand. I let my hand stay there for a moment so it could hide the tears falling. I then felt Kurenai start to pull me, so I followed, the others were behind us. I then saw Pakkun at the entrance and he looked up at me with worried eyes. I nodded at him and he then disappeared we all then started making our way back to the leaf. It took us longer since we had to walk no one was able to jump in the trees.
I turned my face towards Kurenai and caught her attention. She looked at me with worried eyes. I closed my eyes and sighed.
"Is…is she okay Kurenai?"
Kurenai looked behind her shoulder for a few moments and then returned to looking forward.
"I think she is okay…but we really need to get her to the hospital."
We finally made it to the front gates and when we got close enough the guarding shinobi came running to us. I was able to stand on my own now, so I let Kurenai go and held my arm out to the two shinobi.
"We need medical attention right away…go make sure they are prepared for her!"
The two shinobi looked from me back to Isamu, their eyes went wide in fear and they both nodded and disappeared in a blink of an eye. We then quickly made our way to the hospital and stopped when we hit the front doors. I turned around but Asuma and Guy were already rushing her in through the doors. I started to make my way after them until Kurenai stopped me. I shot her an angry glare and she just shook her head.
"Kakashi…listen to me…you don't want to see…you don't want to see her in the state she is in…I…I won't allow you to…"
Her voice was soft and broken she kept her hand on my shoulder and I sighed as I stuffed my hands in my pockets.
"Kurenai…I have been searching for her day in and day out for the past two weeks…and you're telling me I can't see her?"
Kurenai looked like she was lost for words, but after a moment she let go of my shoulder.
"I know how you feel Kakashi I really do…but if you were to go in there now and see her in that state…you would blame yourself even more…I can't have you doing that when none of this is your fault…you have to understand it's not and you did everything in your power to find her…and you found her…so let's just give it sometime and you an come back in the morning…maybe she will be cleaned up for you by then…"
I sighed and closed my eye again, I agreed with her, but it was too hard for me to just willingly leave her again. I wanted to be by her side…I needed to be by her side. I looked at Kurenai and pulled her into a quick hug. When we broke and she pulled away she gave me a broken smile because she already knew what I was going to do.
I nodded and gave her a faint smile as I turned and started running into the front doors. I slammed them open and saw the front desk so I ran over. When I got to the desk, I put my hands down and leaned forward to try and help me from falling. The lady sitting right in front of me looked up with wide eyes and a shocked expression. I looked up at her and tried to catch my breath.
"Isamu..where is she…they just brought her through…I need to be with her…"
The lady nodded slowly and when she shook herself from the shock, she looked back up at me.
"Are you a family member? Only family members are allowed in the critical unit."
I looked down for a moment, of course she would be placed in the critical unit. I then slowly looked back at her and nodded as my stomach dropped.
"Yes…I'm her husband…now please take me to her…"
The lady nodded and gestured for me to follow her. She led me down the hallway through some double doors and then we took a right. We then went down a little further and she stopped at one of the smaller doors on our left. She pointed to the door and looked in.
"This is her room…I'm not sure if she is in there right now but…you are more then welcome to take a seat and wait for her…"
I nodded and bowed quickly to show my thanks to the lady and opened the door. When I walked in the room was empty, that means Asuma and Guy weren't able to stay. I closed the door behind me and took a seat next to the bed she would be in. I was only able to sit for so long, I then got up and began pacing back and forth. I kept looking at the clock and the hours went by and still no Isamu.
We were coming up on about 4 hours now and I then jerked my attention to the door as the knob started to turn. I saw an older man dressed in white come in and he looked up at me in surprise.
"Who are you? We aren't allowing visitors for critical unit patients…"
I ran up to the doctor and put my hand on his shoulder. I looked at him with a worry filled eye and I felt it was beginning to water over.
"Isamu is my wife…and I was sent back here…now tell me is she okay…will I be able to see her soon?"
The doctor nodded and sighed; he gave me a saddened smile.
"Oh, my apologies…well your wife suffered major damage…there will be a long recovery time…"
I let go of him and stepped back, I found myself falling into the chair next to her bed. The doctor came closer and looked at the bed and back to me.
"Can you tell me…what kinds of damages were…"
I couldn't even finish my sentence before I choked and felt the tears fall. The doctor sighed and grabbed a chair and sat down next to me.
"Well for starters…she had multiple stab wounds all over her body. They were deep and opened wide…she lost a lot of blood…more blood than any normal person could lose…She broke many of her ribs…. her collar bone is broken…her left leg is broken and in very bad shape…Her left eye…that was…"
I put my face in my hands and started to shake, I couldn't look up at the doctor I couldn't even speak so he continued.
"Her left eye was fully removed when she arrived…it looked like it had been forcefully removed and there were precise cut marks…which to me made it seem like it was medically removed…"
The doctor then got quiet, and I could feel his eyes on me. I looked up and rested my chin on my hands that were placed together resting against my mouth. I then shot my glance over at the doctor. He got up ready to leave the room but before he left he turned around.
"Do you know how this happened…where was your wife that she could have been put in this bad of a position? Is she a shinobi like you?"
I never moved I just shot my eye over to him, I couldn't tell him the truth so I tried my best to be evasive.
"Yes…she is a shinobi…and Jonin actually. She was placed on a solo mission and when she didn't return in a timely manner well…My fell shinobi and I went looking for her and found her like…"
I couldn't finish the last part I got choked up and the doctor noticed. He nodded and had a faint smile on his face.
"Okay…well she should be brought back here in no time…our team is just making sure she is stable enough…"
He then placed his hand on my shoulder trying to console me and left the room. When the door closed, I fell back in my chair and looked up at the ceiling. I could feel my stomach drop and my eyes began to water. I just can't believe what they did to her…and how she is still even alive. All that happened to her…it would have killed any normal person. I am grateful that she is still alive don't get me wrong but, If I would have kept a better sense on the situation back in the arena or if I would have been able to follow Kabuto…all of this could have been avoided. She would still be here and safe…but now she is in the critical unit and her body demolished by that damn snake!
I closed my eyes and sighed as I tightened my fists. Just as I was peaking in my anger I heard the door start to open. I jolted up to my feet and waited to see who was coming in this time. I then saw a nurse walk in and pulling a stretcher in the room with…Isamu on it. There was another nurse on the other side of the stretcher helping to push it into the room gently. I kept my eye glued on Isamu, she was still unconscious and covered in bandages and had a few casts. I could see some of the bandages were already bled through though and my stomach dropped. I then saw the nurses were trying to get her onto the bed in the room, so I rushed over to help them. They looked at me with saddened smiles.
"Thank you sir…she is in pretty bad shape and will be unconscious for some time…we will be back shortly to check in…can I get you anything?"
I shook my head slowly as I was still staring at Isamu. The nurse understood and didn't say anything else and left the room. I then went to the side of the bed and fell to my knees. I lightly grabbed her fingers in my hand that were not bandaged. I shook my head as I was still in shock at what has happened to her…it was almost unbelievable. I then stood up still holding on to her as I looked at her face. I could see one eye that was exposed and it was closed. I sighed, at least she looked peaceful right now and not staring at me with that scared tired eye like when I found her. I let go of her fingers and moved to her hair. I began stroking her head softly as I continued to stare down at her.
"I am so sorry Isamu…I made a promise to you that I would always be by your side and protect you…and you were left alone for weeks being tortured by that…snake…I am so sorry…"
I couldn't say anything else, I could feel my emotions overcome me. I closed my eyes, and I could feel tears start to fall. I heard the door open again but, I didn't care at the moment so I stayed put. I then felt a hand on my shoulder so I opened my eyes slowly and turned my head to the side to see who it was. My eye went a little wide to see it was Kurenai.
"Kurenai…what are you doing here? How did you get in?"
She gave a soft smile to me and then crossed her arms as she came to my side staring down at Isamu. I could feel her sadness and see it in her eyes, but then she chuckled so I looked at her with a puzzled expression.
"Well…they said only family can be back in the critical unit so I…you know said I was her sister…"
She shook her head and had a saddened smile on her face as she put her hand gently on Isamu's arm. She then looked back at me with a curious look.
"How did you get back here? Have you been back here the whole time since you came into the hospital?"
I gave a smile and chuckled as well, but it just turned back to the saddened state I was in.
"Yes, I have been in this room the entire time waiting for them to bring her in here…they just got her in a few minutes ago… as for the other part well…as you saying you are her 'sister' well I said I was…her husband…"
I looked down at Isamu with a soft smile as I ran the back of my fingers softly down the side of her exposed face. I just realized how much I truly love this woman…and how hurt I was to think that I had lost her. I then turned my gaze over to Kurenai since she didn't say anything back. Her eyes were wide, and she was staring intently at me. I shrugged my shoulders at her.
"You told them you were her husband?...wow, that's something I'd never think you would ever do or say…you have been breaking the rules a lot lately…what have you done with the real Kakashi?"
She smiled as did I, we laughed a bit, and I shook my head.
"To be honest Kurenai…with Isamu it's different…I would do anything in my power to keep her safe and do what I needed to do to make sure of it…I'm just a different person with her…because…"
I couldn't finish my sentence because she already did for me.
"Because you love her…I know…"
She smiled and I could see tears start to stream down her face now. I put my hand on her shoulder and pulled her in to a side hug.
"You know Kakashi…I think of Isamu as my sister…even though we aren't blood…she was always there for me no matter what…and I truly do consider her that…I love her too…and just seeing her like this it…"
She couldn't continue, she began crying harder, so I began to rub the side of her arm and let her cry into me. Just then, I saw some movement coming from Isamu so my eyes darted to her face again. I saw her exposed eye begin to open slowly so I shook Kurenai a little and she looked back with me. We stood their in-tense anticipation for her to wake. Her eye then opened enough to be able to see where she was looking. She was looking down and then her eye came to me and Kurenai. There was worry and confusion radiating from her. I let go of Kurenai and held her hand closest to me. I shook my head and bent down a little and I saw her eye follow me.
"Try not to move Isamu…just be calm…"
I whispered this and Kurenai stood there staring intently at Isamu. Isamu's eye then made it over to Kurenai, she then dropped to her knees and held her hand on top of Isamu's head gently stroking it.
"It's okay Isamu…we are here…we aren't going anywhere…"
I could then see Isamu's eye begin to water…most of her face was covered including her mouth so she wasn't able to talk. Because of this I wanted to make sure she was calm and not start to try to move or get up. I then looked over at Kurenai and placed my hand on her shoulder.
"Kurenai…can you go grab one of the nurses and tell her that Isamu is awake?"
Kurenai darted her gaze to me and with a stern face she nodded and ran out of the door. I stayed next to Isamu, and I could see her staring straight at me, she tried to move her head a few times, but I could see it caused her great pain. She winced and closed her eye tight, so I would continue to talk to her and make sure she was calm and still. I then dropped to my knees again so I was closer to her face, her eye followed my every move. I shook my head and then looked up to her with determination burning in my eyes.
"I promise Isamu…I am going to make sure that damn snake pays for what he did to you…I will do everything in my power to protect you…to make sure you never end up like this every again…"
I could feel the tears start to fall again; I couldn't believe how emotional I was. It was so foreign that it hurt even more. I then closed my eyes and turned my head to the side, but my eye shot open when I felt something on my hand. Isamu had taken her fingers and found my hand and grabbed on to it the best she could. I looked from her hand back to her face and I could see a smile form in her eye. I removed my mask and placed my lips softly against where hers would be and then to her forehead.
"I love you Isamu…with all my heart…so please make it through this…I want to hold you and see your beautiful smile again…"
