Hi lovely readers,
Thank you all so much for all of the lovely reviews on the last chapter. It means the world to me that after so many of these now so many of you still take the time to read and review. Thank you, I appreciate it so much and it is all of your reviews that spur me on to write more.
I have been totally rubbish at updating recently! I'm so sorry for taking so long! I'm still very much here I promise and if you have still stuck with me, thank you, thank you, thank you!
This prompt was requested by a guest (again, I am super sorry for taking so long, thank you so much for your patience). I loved writing this one. I very rarely write about Arthur at this stage without the involvement of Emily so have kept it just between Sheldon, Amy and a brand new baby Arthur. Hope that's all okay and what you were hoping for.
Enjoy reading everyone!
It was a moment that had happened so quickly, she barely had time to process what was happening. Everything had moved so fast, the pain completely consuming her to a point where she found it amazing that a pain like that could so easily been forgotten. Through everything Sheldon had been the one constant, through the haze of pain, the moments that had been a complete blur and the encouraging words of the midwives, he had been there throughout it all, just like he had the very first time round.
Before Amy knew what was happening, she was being told to reach down for her baby boy who was being passed up between her legs. To the relief of his parents, as soon as he was lifted above the surface of the water he let out a loud wail. Instantly, Amy held him close to her chest, crying herself and marvelling at how much bigger he was than his sister at this age.
As she cuddled him close, she couldn't quite find the words. She was tired and sore and desperately trying to catch her breath but this moment was everything. It made the pain seem completely worthwhile and in this moment it was easy to see why some woman went on to have a whole heap of children. Nothing could compare to the moment when you first lay eyes on your baby, when you finally get to see their little face and their tiny fingers and toes. It was absolute bliss.
Arthur George Cooper was true perfection. He already had a light dusting of dark hair and large dark eyes, although bigger than his sister at birth, he was measuring much smaller, although Amy was sure as he grew he would have his fathers height. She marvelled in his features, he had her nose and eyes, finally a child that looked a little like her, she could see it already. She had tried to find physical similarities between her and Emily but she really was her fathers double, maybe little Arthur would be hers.
"Hello" Sheldon whispered, the first thing he had said since the birth. He was still frozen in shock, unable to believe what had just happened, it really was the most amazing thing. He was sure that no matter how many children they went on to have, he would never quite get his head around moments like this.
Tears glazed his eyes although he was stubborn and refused to let them fall. He leaned forward and stroked his little boys arm. His son. He couldn't quite believe he was a father again, it still amazed him he was responsible for a little four year old, to now have another little person depend on him was incredibly overwhelming and yet his heart was filled with more love than he ever knew it was possible to feel.
At the sound of his fathers voice, the newborn baby's cries subsided and he seemed to relax against his mothers chest, making Amy's tears fall even harder as she watched Sheldon fall head over heels in love with their new addition.
"Oh, he knows your voice" Amy gushed as her hand gently stroked up and down his back. She wanted to hold him close like this forever, having Emily had made her even more aware of how quickly time passed by. It really did only feel like minutes ago she was in this situation with her, meeting her for the first time and marvelling at her every detail. Now, she was this walking, talking, fiercely independent four year old, full of confidence, kindness and curiosity.
"He's wonderful Amy" he smiled, placing a kiss to her forehead. "And you were too" he couldn't quite believe how quickly everything happened, for the tiniest of seconds he thought he might be the one delivering this baby but thankfully help arrived before he needed to spring into action. Now that he was here safely, he felt as if he could finally breathe again.

"We should be sleeping" Sheldon whispered as he peered into his wife arms, staring at their baby son who had entered their lives just a number of hours ago and yet in a strange way felt like he had always been there.
"I know but I can't stop staring at him" Amy spoke as she used her index finger to gently stroke his chubby cheek, his eyes fluttered for a moment but he lay sound asleep. Amy remembered feeling like this the first time round, in fact, she had worried that she wouldn't feel like this the second time, unsure of how it was possible to love another human being in the same way that she loved her daughter. Yet here he was and she could almost feel her heart bursting with amount of love she held in her heart for him.
The early hours of the morning were drawing in and despite being exhausted, Amy and Sheldon were yet to sleep since his birth. They both knew they should and both acknowledged how tired they were but they were both running on some kind of indescribable adrenaline, a rush, a buzz whatever you wanted to call it.
"I can take him if you like" Sheldon offered as Amy stifled a yawn. It was easy to forget this stage, the brand new baby stage where sleep went out of the window and your body somehow gets used to running on little to no sleep. It was Emily's arrival four years ago, that taught Sheldon the true meaning of the word compromise. In his mind, there was no way you could raise a child without it. They had a good little routine going with Emily, where one would sleep whilst the other saw to the baby, one would take the night feeds whilst the other slept. It was what parenthood and marriage were all about. He was hoping, even with Emily in the mix that those routines would take place this time.
"No, it's okay. I'll stare at him for just a little longer" Amy smiled up at her husband who could see the sheer tiredness in her eyes. Amy never wanted to deny Sheldon time with his son but right now, she just needed to take him in a little more. "Do you think Emily will be okay with all of this?" Amy asked quietly, it had been a worry niggling away at her throughout the whole pregnancy.
Their daughter was still very young and had gone through phases throughout Amy's pregnancy. One minute she was excited to be a big sister and then the next she really didn't want to know. Thankfully, in the last few months, excitement had been the dominant emotion, she was keen to feel Amy's bump and talk to the baby and had a million questions about what would happen once her brother arrived.
"Of course. She was very excited when she left" he would never forget her little smile as she waved goodbye to him when she left with Penny. No matter how old she became, Emily would always be his baby but it saddened him to know that that was his last moment with her as their true baby of the family and he hadn't quite appreciated that.
"Yeah but being excited and actually having him here are two very different thing" it was something neither Sheldon or Amy had experienced themselves. Amy was an only child and Sheldon was the youngest so adapting to another sibling was actually new territory for them all.
"She'll be fine. She'll love taking care of him" their daughter was a caring little thing and loved taking care of her dolls as if they were real babies, Sheldon was keeping everything crossed she would be just like that with her brother. When Sheldon saw that his answer hadn't quite done enough to reassure Amy of her worries, he placed a gentle hand on her knee. "Hey, look at me" he told her gently, watching her as her eyes met his, she looked exhausted and he knew that the sheer exhaustion wasn't helping with her emotions. "It will all be okay" he told her again. "I'm not saying it will be perfect, I'm sure we'll have good and bad days but she's going to love him so much and somehow we'll make it all work" he smiled when he saw Amy give him a small smile. "I guess we always do" he shrugged as if his little speech that had just melted Amy's heart was nothing.
"When did you become so good at this reassuring dad stuff" she asked with a playful smile. Having children had been the making of him, she couldn't put into words how grateful she was to have him, how lucky their children were to have him. He had changed in almost every way possible for the better, for two tiny little humans that held his heart in the palm of their hands.
"I guess it helps having you" he smiled as he reached forward and pecked her lips. From now on they were a little family of four and together they could face any obstacles that came their way.
Thank you all so much for reading. As always your reviews are always welcome and so appreciated!
I hope all who celebrate today are having a wonderful Easter!

Lots of love
