Junior stood by the stairs while Catherine paced nervously back and forth. Catherine panicked when Noelani told her that she thought she was pregnant. In fact, Catherine was almost certain of it, but hearing someone say it to her was like a reality shock.
"Catherine, we need to leave, but we won't rest easy knowing that we left you here like a bomb about to explode," Junior told her.
"I can't have a child, Junior. How am I going to raise a child in a basement? What kind of life will I give him or her?"
"You aren't going to be here forever, Catherine," Junior said referring to the basement.
"You need to calm down, all this fussing is not good for the baby," Noelani said to Catherine.
Catherine stopped walking in circles and sat down on a small sofa. Junior sat down next to her and hugged her. "Think about how happy Steve will be to know that he is going to be a father. I'm sure he's going to be a very competent father, and always with lots of love and attention to offer. And what about you? I am sure that this baby will be very lucky to have someone as special as you as a mother. I can imagine his or her joy and happiness, so enjoy every moment because they will never be repeated."
Catherine leaned her head on Junior's shoulder. "You are a good friend, Junior."
"Let the joy for this pregnancy invade your heart and put your worries aside. Everything will be fine. You are more than prepared for this mission. "
"Do you really think Steve will be happy?"
"I'm sure," Junior replied.
"I don't know, Junior...there's still his girlfriend... "
"What's more important to you? Her or your baby?"
"My baby, of course," Catherine replied.
"Then only worry about the baby,"
"OK," Catherine replied a little calmer and then looked at Noelani and thanked her for going there with Junior.
"No need to thank me, I will always be on hand for whatever you need. I'll leave some medicine to ease your morning sickness and then I'll give some vitamins to Junior so he can bring them to you. It's important that you don't stop eating because of the nausea."
"OK. Thanks again, Noelani."
Steve entered the secret room with a tray of drinks and went to the table where Raul, the man who wanted Catherine, was playing cards with other men. It was a stifling atmosphere because of a lot of smoke.
"Excuse me, gentlemen," Steve said to them as he offered the drinks.
"Pour them all, please," Raul said to Steve and Steve was surprised at the tone of his voice. Steve had expected a rude and arrogant man.
Raul watched Steve serve the drinks. "You're new here, aren't you?"
"I've been working here for a month, Sir," Steve replied without looking at him.
"What's your name?"
"Anthony," Steve replied.
Raul took some money out of his pocket and gave it to Steve, but Steve refused. "I appreciate it, but I can't accept it."
"Of course you can," Raul put the tip in Steve's pants pocket.
Steve returned to the room eight more times to serve all the players while Raul watched him.
"I wonder if he recognized me," Steve wondered and was afraid, but nothing happened.
A month later...
Steve was pensive as he wiped the bar counter with a soft, damp cloth. He was once again despondent over the lack of progress in the case. "Anthony?" Sean snapped him out of his thoughts.
"Huh, sorry Sean. I was distracted. "
"That's okay. Go to the game room."
"What about the drinks? Have you prepared them yet?" Steve asked .
"No. You're being requested by Mr. Raul," Sean replied.
Steve was worried. "But why? Did I do something wrong?"
"No, of course not. I believe he has some proposal for you. "
Steve went to the bar and Raul was waiting for him. He was sitting at a table in the corner, away from the gambling.
"You sent for me, sir?" Steve asked as he approached him.
Raul indicated a chair for Steve . "Yes. Have a seat. "
Steve sat down and waited for Raul to speak. "Bastard!" Steve thought as he looked at him.
"I've been watching your behavior since the day I first saw you and I have a proposition for you. "
"And what is the proposition?" Steve asked.
A few hours later...
Steve arrived at Harry's apartment and Harry couldn't tell if Steve was anxious, nervous or agitated. "Did something happen, Steve?"
"It's happened. The creep asked me to work with him, to be his bodyguard."
"Um...interesting. I have some news too."
"So tell me," Steve asked.
"I also got a job. A job with your new boss's rival group. "
"Really?" Steve asked.
"Yes, it is serious. And I think this is going to be very interesting, we might cause some friction between them " Harry said.
"This fact has given me new expectations, Harry. I was very discouraged this morning. Disappointed to the level of wanting to give it all up...but when I think of Catherine... " Steve sighed. "I can't give up, do you understand me?"
"I understand," Harry replied.
A few minutes later...
Steve crossed the street and entered the building he was living in. He went into the apartment, opened the wardrobe and took out the phone that he had hidden in a false bottom of a drawer. He picked up the phone without hesitation and went to the terrace of the building.
"Junior?" Steve said in a low voice.
"Hi, it's me," Junior answered him.
"How is she?" Steve asked.
Junior hesitated in his answer and Steve noticed. "What happened, Junior? Did something happen to her?"
"Well, I'm not the proper person to tell you that, she would be the one to tell you, but under the circumstances I think it's best that I tell you."
"You're freaking me out. Speak up," Steve said to Junior.
"Well, she's pregnant. You're going to be a father, buddy."
