[New Los Santos]
Tenten found herself in front of Yuki's roadside home in the hills in the morning as Yuki was taking a breath, glad to be back 'home'.
"Welcome to New Los Santos, the city on New San Andreas, the state that is the heart of my country." Yuki remarked trying to sound whimsical. "A city far into the future. So, what do you want to do?"
"Where are we exactly?" Tenten asked.
"We're in front of my house." Yuki remarked. "My main residence."
"Perfect, we can have the date here…a man's home is tantamount to his character." Tenten said as Yuki looked relieved. "You're relieved?"
"Oh please, as if I have any shame in where I live. It's cozy." Yuki said, going up to the door and opening it. "Most people expect a giant mansion, but I'm not really like that."
"Didn't you take April to a mansion?" Tenten asked.
"I share that place with my team." Yuki said, pointedly. "I don't really live there."
The inside was fairly modern as expected for such a place and relatively clean. Morgaine was cleaning up as per usual.
"Welcome home, my Lord." Morgaine said.
"It's fine. Tenten, this is Morgaine Le Fay. Head maid to the Azure clan." Yuki said as Morgaine bowed.
"Shall I prepare you breakfast?" Morgaine asked.
"Absolutely not, I'll handle for myself and my company. I'd rather you focus on the kids, then take the morning off and let Mary know I am not to be disturbed." Yuki said casually.
"Of course, my Lord. I mean…Yuki." Morgaine said snapping her fingers as she teleported out of the room.
Yuki removed his fingerless gloves and washed his hands to get started on making some breakfast. Tenten took notice of the memorial table where lay photos taken of past events and trophies from past battles. There were better framed photos on the wall of his parents, his team, the gathering of him and his circle for XanTech's opening, a wedding photo of Lapis and Jaune, and a family photo of him, Serena, and his sons next to Morgaine, another taller woman, a blonde woman, and another boy.
His sons. For Tenten, it was odd to think that this guy was not much older than her…and was a father already. She had to ask herself, could she really handle being a stepmother? Then again, the boys were young teenagers…old enough to be her little brothers.
"Hey Yuki, who's the tall looking woman in the photo in the family portrait? And the kid next to the blonde?" Tenten asked.
"That's Mary, my personal assistant. I asked Morgaine to have her not bother us because she has a habit of coming over here to bum off for food. She's not a good cook." Yuki remarked as she started cooking. "And the blonde kid is my nephew…and my son's cousin. His mom is…my adopted sister-in-law, I think."
Tenten looked down at the table again noticing there were recent additions. A signed copy of the One Piece manga, a replica of Cheshire's mask, a pair of sais modeled after Mileena's in a glass case, a figure of a Foot Ninja, a scroll that was a replica of one of hers, a TMNT figurine in a glass case, and a Baretta 92 in a glass case.
However, her thoughts were stopped by a scent. A zesty scent that got her stomach rumbling for food and had her moving for the kitchen. Then she saw multiple Yukis going around, setting the table and such. One was making coffee.
"Breakfast is just about done, Ten. Just making a Remnant Amazon recipe. Jian Bian and pork fired buns." The real Yuki said. "How do you like your coffee?"
"Black, maybe a little creamer and sugar." Tenten said curtly.
The clone making coffee made hers easily and made Yuki's adding a lot of cream and some sugar before putting it on the table.
"Wait, if you can make clones, why do you have a maid…or a personal assistant?" Tenten asked.
"She swore to serve my family because I freed her from a great debt. She's good at cooking and cleaning when I can't. As for Mary, she follows me around because she likes my company…and my cooking. Plus I do a business, I would need an assistant to do things that the assistant should be doing." Yuki said, as he finished the cooking. "And we are done."
The table was set, the food put down, and all the clones dissipated as he and Tenten sat down to eat.
"I almost feel like I'm in a fancy restaurant….I…"
"Can't cook?" Yuki asked.
"I can. Just the bare minimum to keep myself healthy." Tenten said sheepishly. "My pay did not exactly warrant me the luxury to experiment with food."
"I'm kinda surprised being a ninja doesn't pay all too well." Yuki mused.
"It only does if you're in ANBU or in high demand. I'm neither of those." Tenten admitted as she ate. "How's being a huntsman?"
"More consistent pay…at least back in the day because Grimm were all over. Nowadays, most Huntsmen are either in the military, independent mercenaries, or putting their abilities to work in the private sector." Yuki mused. "Or the criminal underground."
"I guess some things never change." Tenten said with a laugh.
"That they don't." Yuki said before finishing off his meal and downing the coffee.
His cell phone rang as Serena had it answered.
"What's good?"
"It's Félix, sorry to interrupt, but I'm calling from my morning history class. I wanted to ask you to talk about your experience in the Great Deconstruction War."
"Hold up, is that what the history books are calling it?" Yuki said, mortified. "Well, my nephew….I can tell you that I might not the best person to call for it."
[Cues: Duster – Inside Out]
"While my friends and all those with a stake in the war were out there risking their lives out there, I was tirelessly put to the test. I had to put myself through a long physical and mental journey. And yes, I did get stronger. Strong enough to end the war, I guess I got there sooner. We had losses. I can't be everywhere, but I wanted to save who I could. I really only came to finish the fight…" Yuki said humbly. "And put down Griseo for good…but I suppose the hard part was destroying the Remnant I once knew. It was hard…and I do miss it even for the suffering and pain it shared upon me. Things are better now…but the war changed me. I started a late teenager with a chip on his shoulder and a middle finger against the world…a rogue leading a team of jaded people like me in defiance. And after it's all over…we're all realizing…we're adults now…our revolution ended with us now in 'charge'. And because of that, I can't handle issues the same way I used to, I got a family now, I now have to be a new god leading to a new normal for me. I got a person who leads people who worship me, and it just hits…that this is my life now. I can relax somewhat…that I avenged by parents, I can continue the family legacy as Grandmaster of the fighting style they started. I suppose the only regret I have is what happened to Team CASL. They just vanished…and I wanted so badly to give them the happiness we got in this new verse. And I can't do anything to find them…and that's always on the back of my mind. I…a god, can't do shit to find that lost team. I was told by my fellow deities to let them handle it. It's so messed up because everyone believes Team CASL doesn't exist, whoever took them wiped the minds of most of everyone for no one to notice. But people do remember….I do. And I'll be damned if I let whoever took them, try again."
Tenten just stared in disbelief as did the audience watching. It was there that the serious part of Yuki could see in his tone and choice of words.
[Music Ends]
"Thanks, l'oncle. I think you made the teacher tear up. I'll see you later." Félix said before hanging up.
Yuki relaxed.
"That felt good to get out of my system." Yuki said as Tenten finished her food. "You ok, Tenten?"
"Yeah, that was a lot to take in. Maybe we should go do something and get your mind off things." Tenten said.
"Well we could use the pool, but I don't have a swimsuit in your size. I guess we could watch a movie, what's your preference?" Yuki asked.
"Maybe something humorous." Tenten asked as Yuki activated his Smart TV.
"There's a whole list of movies I've never seen on my hitlist…maybe I'll call up Blade and ask for a recommendation. Serena, call Blade up." Yuki said as Serena pinged into the room. "Use his watch's communication line."
A holographic screen pinged up with Blade's emblem as there was a click.
"Hey…father." Blade remarked. "You know I'm in the middle of class?"
"Oh come on, they can excuse this." Yuki mused.
"Eff it, I could use the distraction. What do you need?" Blade asked.
"A movie recommendation. Something real funny." Yuki requested.
"That depends. You into dark hu-"
"Blade, you don't even have to ask." Yuki said firmly.
"Ok then…I got a movie for you. It's a bit crass. South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut." Blade said as Yuki was giggling at the title. "Yeah, I know…but it's not that kind of movie."
"Thanks son." Yuki said before hanging up and getting the remote. "I got to see this."
To say that Yuki and Tenten weren't laughing when 'Uncle Fucka' came up was an understatement. Tenten was trying to be mature, but she'd be rolling with laughter. The movie simply got more and more insane, but by the end…the two had taken a breather from laughing too hard.
"My face is definitely hurting from laughing too much." Tenten said as Yuki gently laid a hand on her face to heal it using hydrokinesis.
"There we go. Can't have you risking a cramp." Yuki said, getting off the couch.
"You know, there's something I really wanted to consider trying. You had those machines that let you fly around." Tenten mused.
"Say no more, I'll have Serena pick us up…" Yuki remarked. "We'll have to head up to the roof."
As the two got up on the roof, a helicopter approached. A gold-plated Buckingham Swift Deluxe with black striping in some areas landed for them to board.
"First time I'm actually using it." Yuki noted with a chuckle. "I drive a lot…and then again I can fly on my own."
The pilot opened the door for the two to get in the back as the chopper took off for the skies. Serena had informed the pilot to take them to XanTech HQ. The back of the helicopter was fitted with luxury equipment, such as a TV screen, surround sound, tan leather seating, a setup for champagne, and a coffee machine.
"Blêuter'd champagne?" Yuki offered, holding a pair of empty glass.
"Please." Tenten said as he poured them both a glass.
"Yuki, I need to be frank with you a moment. Whether I win or lose this, I wanted to ask if I could emigrate to your universe. I…need a fresh start…I just see more opportunities here than back home." Tenten said sipping her drink. "I guess I was just feeling unsure…about us."
"Don't pressure yourself, Tenten. I do enjoy your company…" Yuki said.
"I know…I guess I've been a bit too on my lonesome for too long. I envy you…you had your team through thick and thin. Mine just kind of fall apart on me and drifted apart…I feel bad for thinking this." Tenten mused.
"You really shouldn't. It's not your fault it happened. You got just a raw deal and now you want a fresh deck. No shame in that. You want to focus on yourself, and that's something you have every right to do because you're not going to be able to help others or be a relationship if you don't take care of yourself." Yuki remarked.
"Wow…that was what I really wanted to hear…" Tenten said.
"I've had my share of therapy sessions with a good shrink. Aside from that, psychology is something one has to learn when you grow up in the criminal underworld…gotta know how to read people." Yuki said. "And there is one thing I have learned of the underworld, it's that we must obey the rules of the game. We can pick the game, Tenten, but we cannot change the rules. Unless you got the means to."
As the pilot landed on the helipad, a portal opened signaling it was time to head back. Hand in hand, Tenten and Yuki went through it.
~DoD~
The studio cheered for their return.
"Damn, you were a complete wordsmith out there." Boomstick said. "But let's see what the scoreboard says!"
Tenten – 142%
"It doubled, but it wasn't enough to make the cut past 150." Wiz said as Tenten shrugged. "So, it looks like it's April contending to see if she'll be going to the final round with Revy."
"It's fine…I got the experience, and I made it this far." Tenten said humbly. "But I have to ask April to make sure Revy don't just take that win."
The crowd roared with applause.
