Chapter Two ~ The Wrong Time
Ziva's thoughts continue and a brief conversation.
Tony had been in love before, Jeanne Benoit was her name. She was his mark, but he fell in love with her … deeply in love. I had seen a change in him before I knew what was happening. Oh, he kept up his little pretense of being a ladies man, but I noticed he really wasn't looking at other women when he was pretending to look. Well … Jeanne is long gone and Tony and I have discovered that we have feelings for each other. It happened after he killed Michael … not right after … quite a while after. I needed time to realize that Tony was right about Michael and I was wrong. Anyway, Tony is different, not exactly warm and furry and I blame myself. I think he was very warm and furry with Jeanne, but I guess I don't seem to be the furry type to him … I need to tell him that I like him before it's too late.
We were in the elevator heading out, my father had left and we made a truce, it was time for me to say my peace to Tony.
He was hanging his head, he was very quiet.
"Tony, what's wrong?"
"Your father … he told me that he saw the way we looked at each other. He said that I will never be good enough for his daughter and he would make trouble for me if I was to pursue a relationship with you."
See, there's either never enough time, time has run out, or it's the wrong time … I was fuming!
I crossed my arms over my chest and kicked the wall in the elevator. If my father wasn't already in the air, I would have sent him packing … in his carry-on!
"Tony, there's no time like the present, one of us could get hit by a bus when we step out of this elevator and go outside. So what that it's the wrong time! I just want you to know that I like you."
"You like me! I'm risking my job, my life because you like me!"
"Yes, Tony … I like you … very much."
"Great, Ziva, just great!"
The doors to the elevator opened and he walked out … not even glancing back. I guess this was the wrong time.
I haven't gotten any reviews on this, but I have received several alerts, so I thought I would try a second chapter. As always, Thanks for reading, Judy
