Kim Bum as Hwang Yoobin/ Lim Sana's second fiance.
Sana wondered whether her eomeoni would force her into a third contract marriage after she disrupt this wedding in some sort of way like the last time. Her eomeoni probably would- as she is not known to be a woman who is easily discouraged.
For the second time in her life Lim Sana was walking down the aisle escorted by her abeoji- in an ancient looking church, decorated in an simple and elegant manner yet looking like that suited the wedding of a royalty this time- towards the altar where the pastor of the church and her second fiance stood tall in a black tux with a sweet comforting smile on his handsome face directed towards her.
A small almost unnoticeable smile bloomed on her soft lips. This man had not changed much after high school.
Turns out, Sana's second fiance is non other than her childhood friend- Hwang Yoobin.
Lim Sana didn't have many friends since she was a kid. Maybe it was because she never opened up to anyone or trusted anyone- or it might be because that almost everyone she met didn't have a backbone. But Hwang Yoobin wasn't like that; he was sincere and genuine since their first meeting.
He was there whenever he could, whether it be when she was in tears or when she was just herself and got in trouble. He made her smile when she thought she was unwanted. But after they graduated high school, his parents wanted him to take his position as the heir of the Hwang Industries- a world wide known company for its excellent ceramic products which are custom and handmade- more seriously. With Yoobin's new responsibilities and her own problems, they slowly lost contact; until they found out they were to be engaged and married to each a few months ago.
It was Sana who found about this arrangement first- and she knew it was time to reconnect with her childhood friend again.
When they met each other again,it wasn't awkward as she expected it to be. Maybe it was thanks to Yoobin's natural charismatic nature.
Contrary to the popular belief of Hwang Yoobin being a ladies' man because of his charming looks and chivalrous manner, Lim Sana found out that he has a girlfriend to whom he loves unconditionally and genuinely so. Moreover, never in a million years did she expect that lucky girl to be her younger cousin- Kang Ji-Hye. And she had happened to be the first one to find out about their relationship from Ji-Hye's family; not even her older cousin nor her imo knew about her cousin's boyfriend. But she was very happy for the two as they were, in her opinion, what people called a perfectly matched couple.
And so Hwang Yoobin and Kang Ji-Hye were full onboard with her plan to wreck her and her childhood friend's wedding.
To sum it all up, that's how Lim Sana found herself in the middle of the aisle of a church walking towards Hwang Yoobin escorted by her abeoji.
This time she was more comfortable in her wedding dress owing to Yoobin's thoughtfulness. Unlike in her previously cancelled wedding, her second fiance made sure that the pair-to-be married had a say in all the wedding's decorations, clothes, jewelleries etc , reasoning as this is their wedding they should have a say in it. Later on it was a great help to the Lim Sana's plan to disrupt their wedding.
The snow-white dress with intricate flower patterns creeping up till the length of her knees, a modest V-neckline and a less number of layers- eventhough it did have a nine-foot-long train- didn't weigh her down that much. Thanks to the sheer lace sleeves with more intricate flower patterns she didn't feel that much exposed unlike the last time she wore a wedding dress.
Her long ebony coloured hair was down in a voluminous, bouncy blow out with pretty, loose curls and each side elegantly pinned under her traditional lace veil.
A simple priceless set of crystal earrings with white coloured tiny marquise-shaped cubic zirconia stones adorned her ears while a neatly arranged yet a rather small bouquet of expensive British flowers- lily-of-the-valley, sweet william, myrtle and hyacinth- was held in between her hands.
And in the span of a few minutes after not successfully tripping on her dress in her ivory laced, slightly round toed court shoes with high heels, she was standing on the altar by Hwang Yoobin's side after being accompanied there by her abeoji.
"You can now be seated", the pastor said to all the standing guests after her abeoji went to his seat. A slight sound of shuffling was echoed around the church as everyone followed the pastor's request.
"You look unusually pretty today," Yoobin whispered to Sana while sneaking glances from the corner of his eyes at a certain beautiful brunette with short hair in a long, navy blue coloured, off-shoulder, mermaid styled dress. "You don't look bad yourself," Sana whispered back. "-and are you sure that complement was for me?" she added as an after thought, after noticing the direction his eyes were straying off to. She smiled lightly in a teasing manner as her soon-to-be-ex fiance and friend blushed slightly and rolled her eyes at her in a childish manner.
"Dearly beloved," the pastor began, "we are gathered here on this bright morning to witness this man and woman join together in holy matrimony."
While he said his speech, the other two on the altar exchanged glances- as one was anxious and the other was being patient for the wedding to be disrupted.
Lim Sana's plan was simple. After a few minutes the pastor began his speech and before the vows between the soon-to-be couple were exchanged, her cousin would press a button on the small remote she had and chaos will ensume. The remote her cousin had was connected with some circuits which were attached to some lighters, scattered and placed in unsuspecting places throughout the old church. Once the button on the remote is pressed, in result of some sort of mechanism which Sana was not too bothered to remember, the lighters would flicker open and light the things around it on fire. Na Yon, Sana's all-rounded employee had come in disguise as an co-worker of the companies assigned to decorate the church before the wedding and had placed all the said lighters near candles which were lighted and placed throughout the old church for decorations, as a precaution to not arouse any suspicions as to how things were caught on fire. Na Yon had also been careful to place the lighters away from human contact, so that no one would be hurt. When the lighters would flicker open and light the things around it on fire, panic will quickly drown everyone in the church and the wedding, would be cancelled.
Sana had to admit that this plan of her's isn't foolproof as her previous one to cancel her wedding with Song Min-He. Oh well- she'll deal with the aftermath of her plan later. What is more important, is to stop herself from getting married to her childhood friend at the present moment.
While glancing at Yoobin, Sana did a touble take as she caught sight of something that made her blood run cold. The unmistakable small red dot of a sniper rifle- probably a 338 sniper rifle, she thought- was right on top of Yoobin's clothed chest.
Judging by the way how it was unwavering and still, the sniper had taken aim and was ready to shoot at him. The sniper was probably an amateur, as experienced snipers never used red dots in their jobs- Sana hypothesized quickly. And she couldn't turn her head even to casually look around her to spot the sniper who was probably on a balcony of the old church- because a seconds' lateness might cause her friend's life; damn her eomeoni and Yoobin's eomeoni for choosing a church for their wedding- and she thought their parents might've doubled the security after the ruckus Na Yon caused at her former chaotic wedding.
Then without thinking ahead as there might be no time left to save her friend's life, she pushed Yoobin away with all her strength- because he had not only grown a lot taller than her he had also grown stronger as well- causing her to become unbalanced because of her wedding attire, and fall along with him.
As she fell beside him in a heap, she felt a toturous pain on the back and front muscles of her right shoulder. Ever felt the pain of a heated metal go straight through your bare flesh? No? Well that's the kind of pain she felt. Nothing she couldn't handle, really as she had experienced more emotional and physical pain than this- but the fact that her movements were restricted due to her wedding attire and she was bleeding out quickly was a major problem.
Hope Yoobin rot in hell for him being way taller then her and damn her for being around 5'5- because the bullet aimed for her friend, had hit her instead.
Her right shoulder was numb with pain and her loosing blood quickly, made her mind a bit hazy.
"SANA!!!" Was that Yoobin who screamed her name? Yes she was injured by why would he scream so loudly? "Somebody call the damn 119!!" Now that's a good idea. Someone started to lightly shake her head and touch her face, pleading to stay with whoever they were and to focus on them. She was trying so hard to clearly see who it was that kept repeating her name and calling her, but her eyes were heavily blurred that she everything she saw was a haze of colours. Then she heard a new voice telling everyone to give her some space and another voice who begged her to stay with them. Was it her abeoji? No. Her abeoji was too proud a man to beg. The rapid lose of blood must have made her mind go crazy.
She felt herself being shifted slightly, and not a moment after, the sensation of something being tightly wrapped around her wound made her want to hit the person responsible for it if only she didn't feel that much weak.
Sana felt herself getting weaker by the second as she had lost a considerable amount of blood. The blur of colours she saw started to fade into a pit of never-ending darkness as the life drained out of her. Her erratic breath ceased to a stop as she got consumed in the darkness of her mind- and she knew it was her time to go.
Lim Sana welcomed death with open hands, as if welcoming an old friend; eventhough her life was short, she would now finally get a chance to rest in peace.
* * * * *
Yoobin was anxiously waiting for her girlfriend, Kang Ji-Hye, to initiate the plan which was created by his devious childhood friend to disrupt their wedding- and he didn't expect that said friend to push him down on the altar, with surprising strength for such a petite woman might he add, out of the blue while falling down with him on to the ground. Luckily he didn't hit his head or back hard enough to be caused any sort of harm.
Loud gasps were heard throughout the church hall as Yoobin sat up with a groan. He slightly touched his head in a manner to decipher what happened so suddenly. Then he saw his friend who fell along with him to the ground. In less than a second he was kneeling near her to make sure she was okay.
"SANA!!!"
A loud shout of his friend's name left his mouth as the initial shock passed by of seeing her lying on the floor, with a huge blotch of red on her snow-white wedding dress which seemed to become larger in an alarming speed. He was overwhelmed with mixed emotions of panic, fear and helplessness in seeing his impenetrable friend in this gravely injured state. Heck- he was even afraid to move her in case he made her injury worse.
With tears streaming down his face- honestly he didn't know when tears started to leak out of his eyes and he didn't give a damn about it- he looked around in a slightly wild manner and shouted," Somebody call the damn 119!!" As the people in the church noticed the state of the girl-to-be-married, some screamed and the more sensible one's started to call the emergency services number, 119.
Kang Yu-Jun swiftly caught his eomeoni, Kang Park Seo-Yeon, as she collapsed out of shock when she caught up with the danger her niece's life was in. Yu-Jun was also in a familiar state of shock as his sister Kang Ji-Hye ran towards the altar while stumbling in her blue dress.
Sana's brothers' and younger sister were shell shocked as well, though they didn't dare to move. And her eomeoni... her eomeoni could only widen her eyes and cover her mouth in shock when she saw a child of her's injured in a life threatening manner for the second time in her life. After recovering from his own shock unlike the others of his family, Sana's abeoji ran as fast as his old feet could take him to his eldest daughter; he might have stopped talking with her and interacting with her years ago, but she was still his daughter.
And Na Yon... eventhough he was only an employee of Sana, she still treated him better than many people who he had met did. He knew better than anybody else how different she was contrary to popular belief. He was also shocked to the core with the sudden incident but unlike the other unobserving buffoons present, he saw the silhouette of a person running out of the church from the corner of his eye, as he was standing in the shadows of the doors at the end of the church hall when he witnessed his employer's fate. With only one thought in his mind he ran out of the church hall to catch the person in fault of his employer's attempted murder- revenge for hurting one of the few people in this world who showed him kindness.
Ji-Hye was the first to reach the altar from Sana's family. Even as she speeded towards the altar, Yoobin was kneeling infront of Sana to gain the attention of her unfocused eyes while touching and shaking her face slightly. Some others had crowded around her lover and cousin too. Seeing this Kang Ji-Hye quickly shooed away everyone who were surrounding her injured cousin minus Yoobin, in an quite strict and angry manner. Her uncle who had followed right behind her kneeled beside her cousin, pleading her to stay awake with teary eyes. It was quite a shock to her since her uncle was a man of few words who rarely was this emotional.
Giving her head a shake, Kang Ji-Hye mentally prepared herself as she teared a long piece of cloth out of the bottom part of her dress and knelt beside her boyfriend infront of her cousin. She was more thankful than ever to her cousin at the moment for making her realize her passion for being a paramedic as she started to give first aid for the said cousin.
After checking Sana's pulses and heartbeat which were getting dangerously low, she slowly shifted her so that she could wrap her wound tightly to stop the bleeding. Then she asked Yoobin to hold her cousin upright as she wrapped her wound tightly. After she wrapped her wound tightly, Yoobin made a movement to lay her cousin on the floor again and Ji-Hye quickly stopped him from doing so and told him to make her lean on his shoulder, to make sure the wound was kept above the heart level. Afterwards she sprinkled her cousin's face with water from the glass of water she got when she demanded someone to bring some clean water quickly.
But whatever she did, did not stop her cousin from going towards the light.
When the sound of sirens was heard from outside the church after about roughly eight minutes the initial call was given to the 119, the unseeing eyes of Lim Sana stared at the ceilling of the church devoid of any sign of life. The painful and gut wrenching cries of Song Yoobin, Kang Ji-Hye and Kang Park Seo-Yeon echoed all around the ancient church hall in a mixture with Lim Seong-Su and Kang Yu-Jun shedding silent tears.
Meanwhile unbeknownst to everyone present in the church, a total solar eclipse was occurring outside. And several events took place at the same time as Lim Sana's death in different places- a woman younger to Lim Sana by an year drowned in a lake as she died; the last moanful cry of a lone wolf echoed throughout a dark and deep forest; and a man who appeared to be in his mid twenties woke up with a start, drenched in sweat, with the mind, heart and soul of the fourth emperor of the Goryeo dynasty- King Gwangjong.
