A/N: This is sort of a Hiruma POV of a previous chapter called New and Old. But you don't have to reread it to understand this. I hope you all enjoy.
OoOoOo
Hiruma wasn't completely blindsided when she broke up with him. Half of him knew better than to think that they were meant to be together forever but he wanted to believe. The long distance thing might have something to do with it, as it proved to be harder than they both anticipated. They both tried so hard to make it work but they could only do so much.
It wasn't even like they stopped loving each other, it just became unmanageable to be honest. He was busy with practice, games and everything in between. She was busy with lesson plans, disciplining kids and everything else. They were both leading two different lives in separate ends of the world. He could have just suggested for her to move to America but reckoned it wasn't the right time yet. And yes she could have done vice versa but knew also that Amefuto always comes first. So Mamori made the hard choice for them.
"I..." What more could she say? It crumbled her heart to have said those words but it was for the best. She looked at his image thru the laptop. It might have been due to the poor connection or lag from her unit but Hiruma stopped moving.
He finally closed his eyes and that was it. He ended the call.
3 months later thru Musashi, Hiruma learned that she had started dating someone new. The moment he heard, his heart felt like it broke into million of pieces. And instead of going to practice, he called in sick for a whole week.
Sena being in the same team saw his old sempai battle his heartache in silence. He had wanted to talk to his sempai but decided against it. He was after all in a delicate position. He couldn't really tell if what his neesan did was the right thing. He just hoped that in time everything would fall into place.
Weeks turned into months, and months turned into a year. But Hiruma never trully recovered emotionally with the Anezaki sized hole that was left in his being. More and more his heart longed for the woman he had loved. And although it was colossaly idiotic to do so, he bought an engagement ring with Mamori in mind.
He never stopped protecting her. Even with him being in America, he still made sure that her protective detail was still with her. Of course, they were also still outside of her range but near enough to make it in time if someone dares to lay a hand on her.
"Mamori-neechan and her boyfriend broke up." Sena brought the news to him in between breaths. He eyed the running back in question. What in the actual f*ck was he thinking keeping HIM updated about that damn woman? If she broke up then so be it. It wasn't like she was heading in America and into his arms now that she was single.
"Like I f*cking care." That confused Sena. He was so sure.
"But Hiruma-sempai"
"It's not like she's f*cking flying here."
"She did. She'll be here in an hour."
Hiruma was at loss as to what to do. It wasn't like the news he had received was that complicated. Anezaki Mamori, the girl she ever loved and dared to break his heart was flying to America. He didn't know why she was going over here. There musy have been other reasons. He had refused to have his hopes up. If she was really here for him, she would find him.
When he saw her at his apartment door, his heart skipped alot of beats.
"Yoichi..."
His lips started to quiver on its own. He didnt want to show any pinch of weakness but he couldn't control himself. His eyes were starting to fog. In other words, his body was betraying him.
"What took you the fuck so long?!"
She smiled and god he missed that smile so much. His eyes completely betrayed him and small trickles of tears fell.
