Rosalie's pov
I wanted to let out a deep growl and murder the people who'd inflicted so much pain on one of my new sisters. Her black eye stuck out like a sore thumb but as she sat with her back towards me it was plain to see the bruises, lash marks from a belt and hand prints on the top half of her back. If I had blood in my body it would of boiled with rage. Yet it comforted me that she showed me enough trust to let me see this. I wanted to protect her. The least I could do was be her sister, help comfort her whenever she was down, give her the things that I knew her biological parents were never going to give her. I would have to speak to Carlisle about them but I secretly hoped she would tell him herself. Maybe when she had built up some more trust.
I tried not to focus too deeply on it. The only thing I wanted to do was help prepare her for the wonderful surprise she was going to get. We had been given some information on her from social worker, some wasn't about her bad past, which is what we wanted to focus on. Me and Emmett had actually come up with the idea and executed it. We had brought her a horse which was hopefully going to become a source of happiness for her. We'd known she enjoyed running and horse riding. It was the few positive things on her get to know me page we could find. Yes we didn't agree with spoiling her, but the idea was to get her an animal that was a source of comfort, hope and happiness for her.
I allowed my hands to work quickly, the excitement of this was too much even for me. I suppose Jasper was near enough about to bound about the house with the heightened positive emotions floating around. my hands weaved her hair into a low plaited bun, in hopes it wouldn't give too much away – unlike the black riding trousers, pink top and black riding boots Alice had dragged out of her wardrobe. Once her hair was done I stood up to sit next to her. I smiled brightly at her. She was beautiful. Her naturally pale skin, dotted with freckles, her button nose, her bright blue eyes that glistened with excitement.
"All done. Do you want me to leave while you get changed?" I asked softly
"No, please stay, I don't wanna be alone right now. And I know you wont judge me with well everything because I know your past is similar to mine" She mumbled
"Okay Ill stay" I answered softly, even though anger bubbled inside me. I knew exactly which part of my past she was on about. It pained me to know someone would do that to her.
I sat quietly and looked down at the floor in attempt to give her some privacy. I saw the bruises that littered her legs and sighed quietly. As soon as I saw her run over to the mirror and look at her outfit I knew she had figured out where we were going.
"They haven't?! have they?!" She squealed bouncing up and down
"No not Esme and Carlisle. Me and Emmett, which is why we are taking you" I chuckled. It was nice to see the excitement plastered all over her face. "We knew you rode horses so we brought you one."
"Rosealie… you didn't have to"
"We did, if it gives you a few hours happiness a day then its worth it"
"Can we get going?!" She squeaked impatiently.
I laughed and nodded taking her hand. I called for Emmett to meet us outside and told everyone else that we were going. We set off down the path, chattering among ourselves. It wasn't long before we reached the stables, it wasn't worth the petrol money to drive the walk was only five minutes. I showed her to the stable where her white cob horse which had black spots dotted around his body. I heard her gasp in shock.
"This is Shamrock, hes all yours. Do you want a go on him?"
She nodded hesitantly, he was already tacked up and waiting by the time she walked over to him. I handed her a helmet to put on. Safety was important, I didn't fancy a scolding when I got home. Once she had placed it on I gave her a leg up onto Shamrock and lead her to the riding ring. I wrapped my arms around Emmetts waist as we watched them both.
"This was the perfect thing to do" I mumbled quietly
"Sure was, its nice to see you taking her under your wing like this babe"
"This is the closest thing we will get to watching a daughter grow up Em, I'm taking it more seriously then Esme. Carlisle is taking care of her, earning her trust while she faffs over Amelia. But shes the broken one. She protected her sister, which lead to her becoming so scared. Of course im going to look after her."
"I know. Ill support you as much as possible, its not going to be easy helping her you know?"
"I am very much aware, but Ill try my best"
We fell silent, watching her change from walk to trot to canter then back down again. The shock of how well she could ride hit me. I felt Emmett give me a quick squeeze after a while and I looked at him then the setting sun.
"We should get her home, she needs food and some rest" Emmett said, concern in his voice.
It felt weird hearing him be so protective over someone. Yes he'd jump into any danger for any one of us but I believe he felt the urge to protect her just as much as I did.
"Soph! Home time sweetie! Emmett will take Sham and untack him. Hell catch up when we walk home!" I shouted.
She dismounted ungraciously, stumbling on her bum. I saw her grimce as she hit the floor and ran over. I scooped her up and saw Emmett grab Shamrock and lead him towards the stable. I set her down after a moment and brushed the sand off her.
"You did amazing hun"
Sophie blushed lightly. I kept my arm around her sensing she felt unsteady on her feet. We'd managed to walk out of the arena by the time Emmett came out of the stable block. He smiled wistfully
as he walked over and scooped her up.
"Lets get you home sleepy head, cant have ya tripping over your own feet!" He joked softly, his nose scrunching as he laughed. I adored this man so much. We were home before Sophie could answer. A small laugh burst out of us seeing the confusion on her face. "Vamp speed sweetie," I heard him whisper softly.
I took Sophie from his arms and carried her upstairs. Sitting on the bed again I waited for her to change into her pjs silently. I know she'll open up at some point, but tonight she must've been exhausted. It had been a long overwhelming day for her. I walked beside her as she trudged downstairs slowly and entering the kitchen. Esme had already made Amelia some food and sent her upstairs to bed. I scowled softly as I cooked her some chicken and mash potatoes. I placed the plate in front of her as she slumped in her chair looking around for her sister.
"Amelias in bed, Esme gave her some dinner while we were out. Eat up before its cold" I cooed softly.
I looked up to Jasper standing in the kitchen door way, raising an eyebrow to ask whats wrong he nodded towards Sophie. "You know with all the excitement earlier I thought you'd feel a bit better" He mentioned walking over to her and sitting next to her.
"I just… um… I feel lost, overwhelmed, I know I should be happy, your all trying really hard, its just so much has happened. I feel like a time bomb is happening and this is the sweetness before it. I mean it's a house full of vampires with two human girls. Somethings bound to go wrong" She mumbled only pausing to shovel mash potatoes into her mouth. "I mean look at me, everythings always gone wrong. So im just stuck waiting for it to happen"
"Yes your in a house of vampires but non of us will ever get the chance to raise a child. Apart from Bella and Edward who have Renesmee but shes rarely here, because she spends most of her time with Jacob whos now her husband. We all want to help you, protect you, love you. And I will sit here every night and remind you that your already a big part of this family if I have to" I heard Jasper reply. I let them have this moment and left the room to go and place a hot water bottle in Sophies bed ready for when she went to sleep.
I half listened to her and Jaspers conversation as to when I could reenter. But Sophie had stopped talking again, placing a guard up between her and Jasper again, after her small slip of emotions. I heard her footsteps up the stairs and burst into the room.
"Can I have some alone time please?" I nodded simply before she carried on "Please come back though, I don't wanna be alone all night" I nodded again and stopped when I reached the door.
"ill be back at eleven sweetie" I sang softly before walking downstairs ready to confront Jasper, until I heard the quiet sobs coming from Sophies room. I couldn't act out of anger. Theyd sort it out. It took time to get used to living with someone who felt your emotions, someone who could read your mind and someone who could see your future. She'd get there soon.
