A/N #2: I was pleased to receive the feedback for the last chapter so I'll start on my thank you for that. Mb (I was glad that you thought the first half of the chapter was nice with it showing everyone relaxing. And I'm not surprised you enjoy seeing them being themselves as you put it and relaxed and happy. I'm glad too since I enjoy writing that a lot! You're welcome for the first half of the chapter! Great to see you thought the second half was wonderfully written too. And I was pleased to read you thought them relaxing and having the concert and dancing was sweet too since I loved writing that. Had to laugh at you saying it was boom to Castle and Beckett, but I was glad you mentioned them expressing themselves in passion and love as you said. You're welcome for the second half too!).
Thanks for the review, I loved reading it and appreciate the time taken to write it out and send it my way!
A/N #3: The title of this chapter is a lyric from the song Beaches in Mind written by Brian Wilson, Mike Love and Joe Thomas, from The Beach Boys album That's Why God Made the Radio.
To Get Away
"All ready to go?" Castle said to Julia. When she nodded, he put his hands on her shoulders and asked, "Are you scared?"
"No, really excited," the teen replied, exaggerating the e in really.
"Good," Castle said, nodding his head and smiling when the teen giggled briefly.
"I think we're all ready," Beckett said, making sure her daughter's tank was on alright.
"We are," Skye said, she and Mary walking over with Marie and Kathleen. "And the others are ready to snorkel after we get in the water," she added, looking back to the others.
"Okay, we'll head out," Beckett said before she made sure Peter and Clive were with them.
"Are we just heading straight down?" the latter asked.
"We are," Mary said. "But two adults are going first to wait for you kids and help you if you need it."
"And don't swim off," Castle added.
"We won't," Julia said with a smile while her friends were laughing. She waved to the others that were going to stay on the boat before she turned in time to see her father falling back into the water. She put her mask on in a hurry in time to hear her father say, "All clear here."
"Are you looking for sharks?" Skye asked, sitting on the side where he'd been.
"Of course," Castle said, watching the investigator breaking the water. "How were the kids?"
"Fine Dad, and we're not all kids," Julia said.
"Hold on you guys," Beckett said, having put her mask on to speak to them. "Eve's diving."
"Got it," Castle said, he and Skye watching the young woman joining them. "Good?" he asked her when she recovered and swam to them. At her okay sign he then said, "Next kid."
"Geronimo!" Jacob said jokingly though he rolled back into the water easily.
"I'm glad he didn't jump," Lily commented.
"I would have brought him right back up," Brad said in mock annoyance. He then said, "Okay, now we can go snorkeling."
"After they're gone," Darnley commented.
"That's everyone right?" Castle asked when his wife and Mary were last after the kids, and they'd made sure they were all set.
"Yeah, let's find the reef," Beckett replied.
"It's right there," Eve said while they were swimming to it.
"I see fish!" Clive asked eagerly.
"Take it easy, you'll use up all your oxygen," Castle told him, swimming with him. They were in a group and then they were finally at the reef they swam above it, watching the different fish. "There's a parrotfish," he told them, pointing to a green looking one.
"Watch out for the school!" Peter exclaimed as some gray fish he didn't know circled up to them.
"Rick," Beckett said to her husband.
"No, they just swam by," Castle said since he'd been looking around for sharks just in case.
"Wait," Skye said. "We have a shark!"
"Duuuuuuuuh, duh… Duuuuuuuuh, duh…" Jacob started to say.
"Enough, it's a lemon shark guys," Mary said, unable to help laughing at Eve, Mari and Julia telling him to stop.
"Then it's not dangerous?" Mari asked.
"As long as we don't go down and bother it," Castle said before the girls were crying out when it swam up. "Easy," he said, hearing Skye saying the same. "Stop swimming," he told them swiftly. "We'll let it go where it wants to."
Julia couldn't help being amazed at the sight of the animal, holding her breath for a moment when it was close enough to see its teeth on the bottom of its mouth. "Wow," she breathed when it was swimming away.
"Yeah, did you see those teeth!" Peter exclaimed.
"Those were awesome," Jacob said in agreement.
"Let's keep going before we lose our time," Skye said in amusement before they were swimming again.
Looking at all the fish and corals they were passing, Julia wished they had more time to go further since she knew the reef went far along the north of the island. But soon the adults were calling to them and she made her way up. "We so have to do this again," she said.
"Can you guys do it during your road trip?" Clive suggested.
"Back at home we could," Skye said.
"I think you mean San Diego Mum," Kathleen told her before she heard her laughing softly.
"My mistake, I was thinking we were all Californians here," Skye said. They broke the surface and once they were on the boat she said, "Are we all here and accounted for?"
"We are," Ivy said, hugging her mother tightly.
"Careful lass," Skye said teasingly, embracing her back the best she could. She leaned down and kissed the top of her head before saying, "How was snorkeling?"
"We saw a shark!" Iris said happily. "And I wasn't scared."
"It was a friendly shark," Eliza said, hugging her parents at the same time. "I wasn't scared either. And you could see the sharp teeth right here," she added, jutting out her lower jaw.
Hearing Josie squeal, Beckett looked at her and saw she was wet prompting her to ask, "You took her swimming?"
"And let her have a look down at the shark," Jim answered. When he saw his daughter and son in law appeared startled, he reassured them quickly saying, "I had no idea it was there. And she didn't seem to realize the danger."
"You saw the shark?" Julia asked her baby sister.
"Teeth," Josie said before she stuck out her tongue.
"Very close," Castle said with a laugh. "Let me do a headcount and then I can tell the captain we're ready," he told everyone once he finally took off his tank before Brad was speaking first.
"I just did it," the chief said.
"And we're all here?" Castle asked.
"We are," Brad said.
"I counted too," Darnley added. "So we're all here."
"Okay, I'll go in to change," Castle commented before he was heading down.
"We can go to the beach now, right?" Ivy asked the other adults.
"Of course," Martha said.
"You want to go?" Lily asked with a smile.
"I do," Martha said. "Now I just need a very nice cocktail and I'll be happy."
"I don't think there's a bar on the beach Gram," Alexis told her in amusement.
"No, but you can't help but think your father has a bottle with the food," Martha said.
"And a shaker and-" Alexis said, cutting herself off with a laugh when her grandmother gave her a look.
"Where Mama?" Josie asked her sister.
"She went to change," Eliza said. "She couldn't wear that wetsuit to the beach."
"She could have," Louis said. "But I don't blame them for not keeping them on."
"Mama!" Josie cried, toddling to her when she and Julia were coming back up to the deck.
"Easy sweetie," Beckett told the baby firmly while she picked her up. "You're not supposed to run around on deck."
"Swim?" Josie asked. "Please?"
"As soon as everyone else is ready," Beckett replied in amusement. She kissed her cheek and hugged Eliza again before the little girl was speaking.
"Are you going to keep your hair in a ponytail?" Eliza asked.
"Did your dad tell you to say that?" Beckett replied with her own question.
Shaking her head firmly Eliza said, "I said."
"It's more comfortable like this," Beckett replied. She then studied her daughter's hair and asked, "Did you want to put your hair up?"
"Can I?" Eliza asked hopefully.
"Grab a band in my bag," Beckett told her. "And don't run," she said in a rush when the little girl turned around.
Stepping back on the deck, Castle saw everyone was looking over the side of the ship except for Beckett and Eliza. "Your hair looks great," he told the little girl before she smiled and spoke swiftly.
"Thanks, I told Mommy to put her hair down, but she said no," Eliza told him.
"Thank you for doing that, but your mom will probably have a better time with her hair up," Castle said. "Like yours."
"Yeah," Eliza replied, looking at Julia and Alexis who had their hair pulled back too.
"The zodiac is ready," one of the workers on the ship said to everyone. "We'll need a few trips for all of you."
"Toddlers first," Brad said. "You agree right?"
"Why are you only looking at Rick?" David asked in mock annoyance.
"Six at a time with me," the worker told them.
"Then you six can go first," Darnley said to Castle, Beckett, Brad and Lily.
"We'll watch Eliza," Jim said swiftly.
"Yeah, go ahead and let Josa see the beach first," Eliza said in a rush.
"Alright, listen to your grandparents," Beckett told her.
"I will," the little girl replied.
After her husband and Brad were in the boat Beckett and Lily handed them Josie and Sophie before they climbed in. She was holding the toddler closely as they made their way to shore, letting Castle take her before she walked through the little bit of water. "Stay with us sweetie," she said to Josie since she'd set her down to help her husband with their things they'd brought over with them.
"I go Mama," Josie replied while she watched the trees behind the beach.
"No, no," Castle said in a rush. "We need your help."
"Me?" Josie asked.
"Yeah, drag this bag to where we're going to be for the day," Castle said, handing it to her before his wife was talking to their daughter gently.
"If it's too heavy let us know sweetie," Beckett told her. "Okay?" she asked.
"Eh," Josie replied, taking the bag. She dragged it across the sand and said, "Bath Dada?"
"No, those are the blankets for your nap," Castle told her with a smile as he took it. "Thank you, sweetheart you did a great job."
"No nap," Josie said firmly before they watched the boat on its way back to the ship.
"Yes, you will sweetie, but not yet," Beckett told her before she and Castle turned their attention to getting things set up while they waited for the others to get there. Eventually they were all on the island and they waved to the ship since it would be returning later that afternoon and she said, "You guys need to stay and help us."
"We weren't going to leave yet," Peter said swiftly.
"What about going over there?" Bobby asked, pointing to the foliage.
"We need to stay on the beach," Castle said. "They told me there was a little damage from that storm that damaged the cottage we were going to have originally. So for safety's sake we're limited to the beach."
"We can't look inside at all?" Clive asked.
"I think so, but stay on the sand," Castle replied.
"Not yet," Darnley told them.
"We're still setting up," Julia replied before she turned back to the towel she held.
"And I think we're going to swim first," Alexis said. She smiled when the kids looked at her in surprise and told them, "I know what you're thinking," laughing when Eve was quick to respond.
"And you want to go in the water too," the young woman said.
"Definitely," Alexis said before they were getting ready to head in.
"Are you taking Josie?" Martha asked her son and daughter in law.
"She wants to go," Beckett answered in amusement. She picked the toddler up and took her to the water where the kids had already run to before she looked at Skye when she was hurrying past her.
"Sorry, the youngest weren't supposed to go without us!" the investigator called out. She hurried in and swam to where hers and Mary's three youngest were telling them, "What are you lot doing?"
"Swimming," Iris said. "We have our vests on."
"She's kidding," Ivy said to her twin in a rush.
"Mummy!" Iris told her in protest.
"How do you like the water?" Skye asked.
"It's fantastic!" Fleur said immediately.
"Good, I'm happy to hear that," Skye told them. "Now come back because you lot need to be a lot closer."
"That means we can take off the vests, right?" Ivy asked.
"I think we should let them," Mary told her wife while she walked out to where they'd stopped at swimming back to the beach. "The water is calm." She wasn't surprised when the girls looked at her with smiles before she told them, "As long as you guys behave."
"We will," Iris said seriously.
"Daddy-" Eliza said before he was interrupting.
"You need to leave your vest on," Castle told her, seeing the youngest McDouglases were taking theirs off with their mothers' help.
"But I know how to swim!" Eliza cried.
Glancing at his wife who was holding Josie in the water, Castle said, "She makes a good point love."
"She does," Beckett said. She then called to Skye, "Are we crazy for forcing her?"
"No, but she is right," Mary said before her wife could respond.
"We just don't know the waters," Skye said before they were all turning to Eliza when she let out a whoop and threw her vest back towards the shore.
"I think you need to take that back Eliza," Beckett said.
"Sorry, I was excited," the little girl said with a giggle before she hurried to grab it. She took it up to where their things were and said to her grandmother, "I don't have to wear this."
"I was hoping," Martha said with a smile, looking up from her book. "Since I didn't want you to have a time out," she added when her granddaughter looked confused.
"Me neither," Eliza said with a wide smile. "Are you okay staying here?"
"I am, go have fun kiddo," Martha said. She took her granddaughter's hug though she was still wet and shared a quick kiss with her before she watched Eliza rushing back into the water.
"It is so clear," Julia said with a smile while she and Mari were looking around and treading the water. She turned back to her friend when she splashed her and was about to ask what was wrong when she was talking laughingly.
"I was talking to you," Mari said. "Do you want to keep heading out?"
Glancing ahead of them, Julia turned back to the shore and said, "I wish. But I know my mom is watching me."
"My mom too," Mari said with a nod. "We're going back?"
"Yes," Julia said firmly before they were laughing together. When they swam back, she swam underneath Reiley before she resurfaced past her and turned saying, "Watch out."
"I was waiting for you guys," she said.
"How come?" Mari asked.
"The adults said we can go snorkeling again," Reiley explained. "Well, you two for the first time."
"Did all the adults say?" Julia asked while they were going to the beach.
"Yeah," Reiley replied.
"Okay, I'm ready to go," Mari said eagerly.
"Me too," Julia replied while they were walking to everything.
"You're going snorkeling?" Castle asked, getting the things he and Beckett needed to do the same.
"You said we could," Julia replied swiftly, worried that hadn't been the case.
Shaking his head Castle said, "Your mom did, but I do agree with you."
"I hope so, since you're going too!" Julia said in mock annoyance.
Laughing briefly, Castle squeezed her shoulder before he said, "I'm serious, now we should go because it's almost time for lunch," surprised when she was replying swiftly.
"I was going to ask you that, so when are we going to eat?" Julia asked.
"Soon," Castle said. When she just gave him a look he smiled and said, "We have a half hour."
"Great, I'm starving," Julia replied before she was turning to get her things.
"Are you ready?" Beckett asked her husband when he walked up to her.
Handing his wife her things, Castle said, "Julia's going."
"I saw that," Beckett said. "Did she ask about lunch?"
"She did," Castle replied while they were putting everything on. "And we'll eat soon."
Beckett smiled at him and said, "You're talking to yourself."
"I'm not ashamed to admit that," Castle said swiftly.
Laughing softly, Beckett shook her head and told him, "Let's go." She turned and proceeded to walk into the water though she had her fins on. Finally, she could dive under the water which she did, swimming further out until she was stopping and finding her husband was with her. "Follow me?" she asked him.
"I have been already," Castle said firmly. He squeezed his wife's hand after she cupped his cheek gently before they put the snorkels in their mouths and dove underneath.
Going to the fish she could see beneath them, Beckett soon arched back up to the surface of the water and said, "Nice."
"It is," Castle said.
"What's wrong?" Beckett asked with a smile at his tone.
"I wish there was a reef," Castle replied. He then saw her expression hadn't changed and he said, "Now what?"
"There's more," Beckett said simply.
"Okay, I want to dive again… not this trip," Castle began in a rush. "But elsewhere."
"You know Skye was talking about that earlier," Beckett said, startled when he was talking rapidly again.
"I wanted to ask her at lunch," Castle said.
"You can," Beckett said with a smile before she was putting the snorkel back in her mouth. After she dove again, she and Castle went back and forth between what they could see of the different fish and catching their breath. She was going to dive again at one point when he was touching her shoulder and she looked at him saying, "Time?"
"Yeah, the kids are going back," Castle said.
Startled, Beckett turned to see they were heading back to shore and said, "I'm surprised Julia went with them," seeing their second oldest with Mari and the Willis girls.
"Paul was calling them in," Castle said while they swam together. "Mother put him up to it."
Beckett laughed but didn't respond verbally, instead continuing to where they could stand on the sand. She got her fins off and told her husband, "I wouldn't be surprised if she did, but at least Julia listened."
Laughing Castle said, "Of course she did." Walking the rest of the way to the sand he said to Julia, "You got bored with snorkeling?"
"No," the teen said firmly. "But I am hungry."
"We'll get it right now," Castle assured her as they were taking the towels Eliza had brought to them.
"Thank you for coming in you two," Beckett said while she was drying herself off. After she'd finished, she went up to their blankets, helping Castle pass everything out saying, "Hopefully you don't mind sandwiches again."
"What're we doing for dinner?" Peter asked when they'd started to eat.
"I kind of thought about suggesting staying at the villa," Castle commented. He then looked at the teen and said, "Though I wonder if you and Eve would mind."
"No," Peter said. "That means we can go swimming right?"
"You can," Beckett said with a smile. After they'd eaten a little longer, she said to her husband, "Did you want to talk to Skye now?"
"Talk to me about what?" the investigator asked since they were next to the Castles.
"Diving this summer," Castle replied.
"Ah, there are a few places," Skye said. "But the one in San Diego I was going to tell you about. Wreck Alley."
"Wreck?" Eliza asked in surprise.
"Yeah, Mum and Mom have gone there," Kathleen said eagerly. "Could we really go?"
"You're not going to the Yukon wreck," Mary said firmly. "That's way too deep," she said before Paul was getting her attention on the other side of the family.
"Are they actual wrecks?" the singer asked.
"Yes, the one the kids can go see is the Ruby E," Skye answered.
"Me?" Dani asked before she giggled when the others started to laugh.
"That's the ship's name," Mari told her little sister.
"Right, it was a Coast Guard cutter," Skye replied. "And we can check it out."
"Sure," Julia said eagerly. She then glanced at Peter and Clive and told them, "Sorry."
"Maybe Mom and Dad will want to take our sister," Clive said.
"We'll suggest it to them," Peter said.
"And we'll go back too," Beckett assured Eliza since she'd noticed the little girl was looking disappointed.
"She's right, but for now I think we have somewhere else to focus on," Castle said before they were returning to their food. After they'd finished, he was pleased to see the kids helping with putting away their trash before Jacob was groaning in mock annoyance.
"We have to wait, don't we?" the young man asked.
Laughing Lily squeezed her son's shoulder and said, "I'm afraid so. We do have stuff to do here though."
"What about walking?" Julia asked.
"I don't think we'd be able to stop you," Beckett replied since the teen was holding her camera.
"We want to take Josa," Eliza said suddenly, glancing at her big sister before their father was responding.
"And her nap?" Castle asked while he got the sunscreen out.
"We'd bring her back when she falls asleep," Julia said easily.
"Alright," Castle said with a quick nod before he was looking at his wife.
"That's fine, but you're going to need to carry her," Beckett told Julia.
"Okay," she replied. Julia couldn't help smiling as soon as she'd spoken since her parents had looked surprised at her response. "I wasn't going to take my camera yet; once we dropped her off," she explained.
"Good idea," Castle said before the girls were taking their sister since by then they'd finished their application of sunscreen. "Do you think she'll fall asleep before they run out of beach?" he asked.
"They're not looping around to the other side," Beckett said firmly since the beach went around to the other side of the island.
"Should we follow?" Castle asked her, putting the sunscreen away when he'd finished with it.
"I mentioned to Eve and Jake they might not want to get to the point where they don't see us," Brad commented. "If they wanted to head out to snorkel again."
"Kind of an empty threat," Skye commented, walking over.
When the chief shrugged Nkosi said, "You're lucky your children are that well behaved."
"I know," Brad said, exaggerating his voice before Mary stopped them so she could speak to them jokingly.
"Couldn't some of us have just gone with them?" the doctor asked.
"Trailed behind them?" Skye asked her wife. When she nodded, she smiled and then said, "Alright, who's going to go?"
"Not me," Castle said swiftly, not surprised when the other men were saying the same.
"Cowards," Rebecca told them teasingly. She then said, "They know where they need to stop and turn around. So, I think we should let them be on their own."
"And Sophie?" Lily asked.
"I thought you trusted your kids?" Rebecca shot back with a smile.
"We do," Brad said. "But what does that mean we're going to do?"
"I think go after them," Beckett said. She smirked for a moment when the men turned to her and said, "The beach isn't that big. And we did agree to stay away from the foliage."
Rolling her eyes while the men were agreeing with the writer jokingly, Skye said, "And while you're busy with that we're going to leave."
"Grá," Mary said with a laugh as her wife grabbed her hand and they left together for their walk.
After they'd walked down a little Skye glanced back, not surprised to find Paul and Nancy were walking with Castle and Beckett. "That reminds me," she called to them. "The girls asked us to sing."
"They insisted you join us," Mary added.
"I'm not surprised," Paul said before looking at Castle and Beckett, the former responding first.
"Did Julia talk to you at all?" Castle asked him.
"She did, though she just said I didn't have to sing if I didn't want to," Paul said. He smiled studying the girl's parents while they shared a look and asked, "A bit of reverse psychology?"
"Not Julia," Skye said.
"She's right," Beckett said, smiling at her friend briefly. "She wouldn't push you."
"Any requests?" Castle asked.
"No, but I'll ask her later," Paul said.
"There's something I'm wondering about," Alasdhair said, quickly apologizing when the four in front of him and his wife jumped slightly. "You mentioned it was going to rain most of tomorrow," he said.
"Yeah, that one snuck up on me," Castle said.
"What exactly are we supposed to do with all those kids?" Alasdhair then asked.
"We were talking about that," Castle said.
"And you weren't going to share with us?" Mary asked jokingly.
"We were, at dinner," Castle replied.
"You should tell us now," David called. "That way we can talk about it without the kids around."
"The older ones aren't going to like the sound of that," Darnley commented since they were all walking together by then.
"I won't tell them," Nkosi said before they were laughing, and Skye was talking to Castle.
"Now will you tell us what exactly you had in mind," the investigator said.
"The pool," Castle said briefly. "Unless there's lightning," he added in a rush. "But I don't think it's supposed to be that bad."
Watching the parents considering that Beckett said, "We thought it's the best way to let them swim."
"Like they're expecting?" Paul asked.
"True," Castle said. "But they're going to be a handful stuck in the villa all day."
"So we're automatically spending our time there?" Skye said with a smile.
"It's the biggest of the two structures," Castle replied simply though he knew the investigator was kidding.
"We should have some kind of backup," Stella said. "Just in case we can't let the kids swim."
"There are games in the villa," Castle replied. "And hopefully your kids have stuff to do they brought with them."
"That they need to take through the rain?" Lily asked.
"They have to make their way over," Castle said with a shrug.
"Does that mean you're agreed on that?" Paul asked.
Turning, since she had a feeling one of the kids were walking to them, Beckett smiled seeing it was Julia with Josie in her arms. "Thank you for helping her sleep," she said when the teen was close enough to hear.
"You're welcome," Julia replied, handing her baby sister to Castle. "We can't go in the foliage," she stated before he was swiftly responding.
"You said you wouldn't," Castle said.
"What about looking into the foliage?" Julia asked, taking her camera from him.
After she'd thanked him, Castle told her, "If looking in is all you do."
"Thanks!" Julia cried before she rushed back to her friend.
"We can look inside everything?" Clive asked.
"Yeah, just don't step inside," Julia answered. They walked up to the foliage and she took a few pictures before she turned to the others and saw Clive was getting his brother's attention.
"You know you and Eve can go in there," the boy was saying.
Shaking his head Peter said, "We're not going to make out in the jungle."
Laughing Eve said, "I wonder if this is jungle. But you're right. Plus, I don't want to break my promise. Also, it'll be weird with you guys by us while we kiss."
"Not all of us would have stayed," Bailey commented.
"I think we should head back," Mari said.
"True, there were some games," Jacob said. As they'd turned around, he was by Julia and he said, "Your sister didn't stay with us."
"I think she wanted to stay with Fleur," the teen replied with a smile. "Luckily she doesn't mind staying with the younger kids."
"She is younger than the three McDouglases," Bobby said.
"She doesn't like to think that way," Julia said before they were turning their attention to their family members and splitting up once they'd reached them.
"Welcome back," Beckett said, wrapping her arm around her shoulder when she walked up to her.
"They're looking for shells?" Julia asked in surprise, the youngest kids except for Josie and Sophie walking through the small breaking waves.
"They are," Beckett replied before she turned to her husband while he walked up to them.
"I saw a picture someone posted online of their kid with huge shells in front of them on the sand here," Castle replied to his wife's and their daughter's looks.
"But they're not taking them?" Julia asked.
"No, I think they put another picture where the shells were on one of the trees here," Castle said, pointing to the dead one by them.
"Huh," Julia said, studying them. She then smiled and said, "Are you going to let them do that?"
"No," Castle said firmly. He then glanced over at the kids in the water and said, "But we'll get pictures to remember them."
"If they find any," Julia commented.
"There's one!" Eliza said to Keo happily.
"It's really big!" the little boy said in surprise.
"Cool," Maddy told her brother.
"I can show Tata and Daddy?" Keo asked her.
"Yeah, I'll go with you," Maddy replied before they were walking together up to their fathers.
Looking down at her feet, Eliza frowned when she saw there was something white there and she leaned down. Pushing aside the white sand she cried out when she saw it was a shell and she dug out the large whelk. "Look!" she cried to her parents, running to them.
"Easy," Castle said, doing his best to calm her down.
"Sorry," Eliza said, looking over at Josie on the blanket. She was relieved her baby sister was still asleep and she breathed out hard before she showed them the shell. "It's pretty isn't it?" she asked them while her mother took it.
"It is," Beckett said. "You'll put it back, right?"
"Yeah… I dug it out," Eliza said slowly as that thought came to her suddenly. "Oops," she told them in slight concern.
"It's okay," Castle said. "Do you think you can put it back the way you found it?"
"Kind of," Eliza replied.
"Can I see that?" Julia asked, holding her hands out to the shell. She smiled when her sister was nodding rapidly, handing it to her, before she turned it around. "Really nice," she said.
"I think everyone found shells," Beckett said then.
They turned to see that she was right, and Eliza said, "We're gonna make a village," before she got her shell back and rushed to them.
"What're you going to do now?" Beckett asked Julia while she gently caressed the back of her head.
"Well… we can't go swimming?" the teen asked.
"You could go walking," Beckett replied.
"Will you come with me?" Julia asked.
When his wife turned to him Castle said, "Actually I was thinking of just staying here with Josie."
"You could come with us Dad," Julia said, thinking he was doing that on purpose.
"No, I'm serious," Castle said firmly. He then told them, "Have fun but I'll call to you when she's awake."
"And Sophie," Beckett told him.
Castle was about to speak before he paused and then said, "Right, well that'll be soon so have fun," before his wife was responding with a smile.
"You said that twice," Beckett commented.
"I had to make sure you both knew," Castle said.
Rolling her eyes, Beckett took Julia's hand before they were walking through the water to halfway to Julia's knees. After they had done so for a little she said, "I'm guessing you're ready for more diving?"
"Of course!" Julia said in exaggerated eagerness. She smiled when her mother laughed briefly before she shook her head and then told her, "But we'll do it more now I have some experience right?"
"I don't think you'd let your dad and I stop you," Beckett said. She then told her, "You realize we want to do the same."
"Lizzy will learn when she can right?" Julia asked.
"Probably younger than you did," Beckett answered while she nodded her head briefly. She then said with a smile, "She wouldn't let us stop her either." Noting the expression on her daughter's face she wrapped her arm around her should and asked, "What's wrong?"
"Nothing I'm just wondering if you won't stop us since you want us to be able to dive with you," Julia said.
"We do," Beckett said easily. She couldn't help laughing briefly at Julia's surprise and told her, "We want to share things with you."
"Good thing we do a lot already," Julia said seriously. "That game room when it's ready and bowling too…"
"We'll do everything in the end," Beckett said with a laugh. "You sound like your dad."
"Yep," Julia said. She smiled widely when her mother hugged her tightly before they were turning around at her father's call.
"Looks like the youngest are up from their naps," Beckett said, easily spotting her husband waving to them. "We better go back."
"Time for snorkeling," Julia said eagerly before they were turning together and heading back to rejoin their family and friends.
