A/N I've had this in my drafts for a while and decided to finish it, I hope you guys like it!
Donna is heads over heels in love with Harvey
...
For lack of better words, Donna finds that she's simply in love.
If being completely honest, she has to admit she's been for a long time now, thirteen years to be more specific, but recently, ever since her relationship with Harvey shifted after he knocked on her door a few weeks ago, she can freely admit those feelings, she can act on them too, and it feels great.
She finds herself staring at him more often than she'd be willing to admit, he's just so handsome. She can spend an embarrassing amount of time just staring at him and appreciating how attractive he is, and sometimes she's still overwhelmed when the realization that he's finally hers, hits her.
Of course it's not all about his looks and his physique, she's over the moon by the whole Harvey Specter boyfriend package. It's the only aspect of him that she hadn't experienced until now.
She knew Harvey the fearless and cocky lawyer, Harvey the fiercely protective friend and brother, Harvey the charming ladies man, but Harvey the committed boyfriend… that's a whole new level.
It's in the small things really, a loving look during work hours as he passes by her office, a simple text to ask her what she'd like to have for dinner, the way he always asks her whether they'll be going to his or her place. —He told her it's important to him that she feels comfortable so he lets her choose— Lately they have been spending way more time in his condo, cause that bathtub has become Donna's latest obsession, especially if she gets to share it with him, so she usually suggests his place to spend the night.
He's currently cooking for her, he's wearing a gray suit, hens coat and tie of course. The first three buttons of his shirt undone and the sleeves rolled up, exposing his forearms and Donna has to fight very hard the urge to suggest they leave dinner for later and get her way with him in the bedroom… Or even here, on the countertop.
He's telling her something about Marcus' kids, an anecdote from the last time he visited and she loves hearing him talk about his niece and nephew. It makes her wonder if maybe someday he'd like to be the father of a redheaded little girl or a sandy blonde boy. She keeps her thoughts away from that subject for now, after all it's only been a few weeks since they took the plunge and way too early for any conversation including kids of their own.
She engages in the conversation, commenting here and there and laughing at his jokes, and she feels like she's seventeen again, so smitten by her first boyfriend, but this is different. It never felt like forever with her highschool sweetheart or with the men she dated over the years. She's always known she would only want forever with one man, the love of her life, and that's Harvey, it's always been Harvey.
"Am I boring you?" He asks with the hint of a smirk and she shakes her head at him.
"Of course not, why?" She asks him as he takes her out of her thoughts filled with him.
"You spaced out for a moment there"
"I was just thinking" She admits as she keeps her gaze fixed on him.
"About how hot I look cooking for you?" He asks with a teasing smile and she tries not to blush, but she does.
"Among other things" She admits.
"Donna Paulsen, are you having naughty thoughts right now?"
She laughs and shakes her head "No, well, not just that. I just… I'm so in love with you" She finds herself confessing and she's not even worried about his possible reaction, she would have been before they got together, but this Harvey, her Harvey, is open and caring and over the past few weeks he's made sure she knows how much he loves her.
His gaze softens and a huge smile adorns his face. He wipes his hands with a dishcloth and steps away from the kitchen island. "Come here" He instructs softly and she leaves her seat to round the counter and walk into his awaiting arms. He hugs her close and kisses the side of her head "I'm very much in love with you too, and I can be persuaded to drop dinner so we can go to the bedroom right now if that's what you want" His voice is a bit husky but it's also sweet and she chuckles lightly against his chest.
"Actually, maybe we don't need to go all the way to the bedroom" She suggests as she runs her fingers through the countertop and Harvey lifts a perfect eyebrow.
"Countertop fantasy?" He asks with a small smirk.
"Something like that" She shrugs.
"What my girl wants, my girl gets" He quips as he lifts her to sit her on top of the counter.
"I'm your girl, huh?" He nods as he captures her bottom lip and sucks on it.
"My girl" He repeats just for her benefit as he pushes her dress up to ease his access and she tilts her head back when his mouth aims for her neck "My beautiful, sexy as hell girl" He mumbles against her skin and she tugs on his hair, their dinner completely forgotten for the time being.
…
It happens in the office too. She's always been professional, and the only 'affair' she had with someone from the firm before was Stephen Huntley. She shivers at the mere thought of that name. But the thing is that when she was seeing Stephen she never once let anyone notice, she stopped him every time he tried to initiate something in the file room or if they were alone somewhere in the firm.
With Harvey it's the complete opposite. She tries very hard to remain professional and so far no one has caught them, but she can't help quickly kissing him if she crosses him in the file room or the copy room. Some nights she waits for him to finish work in his office, she even helps him and if they're sitting on his couch side by side, she makes sure to occasionally brush her knee against his or even lets him kiss her when he complains it's been hours since he last felt her lips on his. One time she even let him get on top of her and they started making out on his couch, but a noise outside made them realize it was indeed too risky. Everyone knows they are in a relationship, but it's no excuse to let just anyone see them in their most intimate moments, so from then on they limit their encounters to the copy room, which can be locked from the inside and they only meet there when most people have already left the firm for the day.
She algo finds herself simply ogling him sometimes. She can now openly look at him, and he's so goddamn sexy that she can't help herself. If she passes by his office she winks at him with a mischief in her eyes, he always looks up when she does, no matter if he's immersed in paperwork or even with a client. He appears to have this sort of sixth sense that allows him to know when she's near. If he can't wink back because he's with someone in his office, he simply gives her a small smile and it always melts her heart, because he's never been more open about his love for her before, and she thinks he enjoys that freedom just as much as she does.
Partners' meetings are the hardest, because sometimes he gets involved in a heating argument with Louis or with Samantha, and Donna has always found his fierceness to be a turn on, but now she can also openly think about having her way with him later at home, and she even thinks of ways to pick up a fight with him just so they can have angry sex, and she knows he can always tell when she does that on purpose, so he plays along, gets invested in the made up argument over something really stupid, just so he can give her what she wants, and she loves him for it. He later confesses he wasn't really mad, and they laugh at his surprising acting skills.
She goes back to her original trail of thoughts as she watches him argue and make his point known, his body tenses, his brow furrows more than usual and his face emanates anger towards Samantha as he tries to make her see why his approach is better than the one she's suggesting.
Donna closes her legs on instinct, trying to suppress some of the tension building between her legs at her boyfriend being in closer mode. Harvey seems to notice, because for the split of a second he gets distracted and looks at her, a glint in his eyes that only she notices and she knows she's in for some teasing later, but she also knows she's in for some great release too when he's able to have her all to himself tonight.
Harvey and Samantha end up coming to an agreement and Louis asks if anyone has anything else that needs to be discussed by the partners.
"Actually I do. We need to do something about the copy room too" Samantha says and Donna turns her attention to her "It's the third time this week that my secretary couldn't go in because it was locked from the inside" She stresses the word and Donna tries as hard as she can for her cheeks not to match her hair color. She did tell Harvey more than once that it was dangerous to make out in there.
"Alright, who has access to that key?" Alex asks.
"The maintenance guy, Gretchen and the five of us" Lois answers.
"And no one else, huh?" Samantha asks as she looks between Donna and Harvey.
"Maybe Gretchen likes to have some privacy while she makes her copies and shreds some papers" Harvey suggests and Donna glares at him, it's not fair he tries to blame it on poor Gretchen.
"Or maybe you can't keep your hands off our COO for long" She retorts and Harvey shoots daggers at her.
"You have some accusation, you say it to my face" He argues back.
"I just did! We all know you're the one who drags Donna in there and locks the door so you can do god knows what to her"
Donna lowers her head and places her hand on her forehead, angry at Harvey for not listening to her but angrier at herself for not being able to resist him.
"That's some serious accusation you're making Samantha and I won't–"
"Enough!" Donna exclaims, interrupting the argument. "Yes, it was us. It's been a couple of long days and we've barely left the office. It was after hours and I know it's no excuse, but we're sorry and it won't happen again" Harvey looks up at her with some disappointment on his face at her shutting down their little escapades to the copy room.
"Thank you for your honesty Donna, all forgiven as long as it doesn't happen again. No one's happier than me at you two opening your eyes after so goddamn long, but let's try to keep it professional, shall we?" Louis takes the reins to end the subject and both Donna and Harvey nod. "Alright, if there's nothing else, you're all dismissed"
"You lucky bastard" Samantha mutters behind Harvey as she walks past him.
"You heard that?" Harvey asks Donna but she shakes her head no. "I think she's jealous" He says with amusement in his tone and Donna laughs as they start walking back to her office.
"Harvey, I know you think you're every woman's dream but–"
"No" He interrupts with a shake of his head "I think she's jealous of me" He clarifies "She told me I'm a lucky bastard"
They reach Donna's office and she turns to him and fixes his tie "Well, you are" She grins.
"I know" He retorts with a smug smile "Looks like I have some competition" He teases
Donna shakes her head, not believing he can be enjoying this so much, showing how much he's actually grown over the years, the old Harvey would have been at least upset at the thought of someone else wanting her, especially a co-worker, but now she knows he's certain of what they have and he trusts her, he always has, but he trusts her with his heart, and that's the greatest honor Donna's ever had.
"You don't, because I only want you, but I did go to theater camp, you know?"
"I know"
"Maybe we can have a threesome" She jokes, and Harvey's expression suddenly turns serious.
"No" He quickly says with a shake of his head "You were right when you told me I would never want to share you"
His pout makes her quickly peck his lips "And you never will" She assures him.
"I thought we just promised Louis no PDA" He says amusedly and she shrugs.
"It's not like we're making out in a hallway Harvey, it was just a kiss"
"Hey, I'm not complaining. I can't wait to take you home" He says huskily and it takes all of her willpower not to drag him to his condo right now.
"It's only five" She points out and he shrugs.
"There's nothing too pressing right now"
"I'm sorry, are you Harvey 'I never leave the office before eight' Specter?" She teases.
He smirks as his fingers lightly touch hers "No, I'm Harvey 'I can finally have Donna Paulsen whenever I want' Specter"
She laughs and feels so giddy inside that she decides 'fuck it'. They have given this firm too much already, they deserve some alone time, and like Harvey said, there's nothing too pressing right now.
"Sorry, my bad. I'll just get my coat and purse then"
His face completely lights up "Are you serious right now?"
"Of course, I won't pass on the opportunity of my boyfriend ravishing me in the middle of the afternoon"
"I'll call Ray" He simply says as he pulls his phone and dials his driver.
"See you by the elevators" He nods and pecks her lips before walking out of her office.
…
They've been laying in each other's arms for quite a while. Two rounds of sex leaving them spent but not enough to fall asleep. Donna's draped over Harvey, her delicate fingers run caresses over his biceps up and down rhythmically while he caresses the small of her back.
"It feels so surreal sometimes" She says softly and Harvey looks down at her.
"What does?" He wonders.
"This… us. It's all I've ever wanted and sometimes I have a hard time believing it's actually real" She explains as she looks up at him and he takes advantage of the movement to lean in for a soft kiss.
"I know, it happens to me too" He admits.
"It does?"
He nods and smiles at her "Yeah, you're not the only one who's wanted this since forever, Donna. Deep down, for years, I knew I wanted this… I knew that if I ever worked out the courage to tell you how I feel, this would be it for me"
"That's exactly it" She agrees with a huge smile.
"Can I be honest?" He asks then and she frowns slightly but nods "It's a bit scary too" His sheepish smile has her letting out a long exhale.
"I know, it's scary as hell, but so worth it"
"Totally worth it" He confirms and their mouths find each other again as the need to be one more time joined overwhelms them both and Donna thinks she'll never have enough of this, enough of him.
She thinks she has been in love before, but she realizes that even if she was, it was nothing like this. It was nothing compared to what it feels like to be in love with the love of your life and to feel loved by him in return. No amount of time with Harvey could ever be enough, but she plans to enjoy every second of it anyway.
