Epilogue: Home

Peace. Quiet. Tranquility.

Lift off into battle, his weapons drawn and poised for the attack as she dropped him safely onto the battlefield. A salute thrown in her direction as she shook her head back, a smile on her face and he more confident than ever.

Peace. Quiet. Tranquility.

A long road ahead, many apologies, and whispered sweet nothings as they put back together the pieces that had fractured in the wrong places. A promise to never be apart again.

Peace. Quiet. Tranquility.

In the middle of the night and in the darkness of their room, hands wandered and wove through hair. She woke as lips touched her neck. Rolling onto her back, he pounced, taking the opportunity to love her as she deserved.

Peace. Quiet. Tranquility.

A hug that held her tight as she wept and grieved the loss of a friend and confidant.

Peace. Quiet. Tranquility.

Her not holding back as she opened up about her culture and her past. Him listening and glad to be part of her plans for the future.

Peace. Quiet. Tranquility.

Three words whispered with reverence as she took his breath away with the declaration.

Peace. Quiet. Tranquility.

A team of heroes laughing and teasing as he told an entertaining story, he being the butt of the joke as she gave into giggles.

Peace. Quiet. Tranquility.

A pair of silhouettes sitting together on the edge of their old haunt, he leaning towards her on the roof and a trail of smoke that led toward the sky.

Peace. Quiet. Tranquility.

An arrow placed dead center in the moving target, him standing behind her as to guide her direction.

Peace. Quiet. Tranquility.

Saltwater spray, the scent filling the air as the tumultuous ocean greeted her home.

"Ready?"

Starfire blinked her eyes open slowly, taking in the man's full form before her. Stretching out of her floating lotus position and out of her meditative haze, she reached out to take his outstretched hand.

"I am prepared," she replied, pulling herself up so she was standing up properly.

Slinging his arm around her waist, he caught her before she could begin floating forward.

"Wait," he said.

Quieting her questioning look as he pulled her back into him, he gave her a grin that was uniquely him but a gesture that was just for her. Cocky, or he'd say confident, with a hint of softness. Just how she liked him.

Placing a hand on her cheek, his thumb tracing the corner of her mouth, he kept her in place as he finally pressed his lips to hers. Tasting, testing, and teasing, his other hand always a satellite that traversed her body but stayed in respectable zones. Mostly.

Starfire hummed, in a trance as she was finally released after a long moment, resting her forehead against his. She refused to open her eyes as to never wake from this dream, he kissing her eyelids.

Eyes finally slid open.

Red on red. Emerald on hunter green. She had finally escaped the dark, light finding light.

Final Author's Note:

Thank you all so much for the wonderful support and for those who have read. I had this story in my mind for many years and being able to finish a project of this scale for me was a big undertaking. I can truly say that I immensely enjoyed writing every chapter and trying to make a realistic relationship between Starfire and Speedy work.

Though I love RobStar and always will (this being where my love of the fandom began), I believe that Robin is a very complicated guy that does not always communicate well, and I believe that is what would ultimately lead Starfire to make the choices she did. That being said, Robin is not the villain of this story. There isn't one. I like to believe this is a story about young people trying to figure relationships/emotions/themselves out while having superpowers and fun along the way. I know some people may be disappointed in this ending and for that I am sorry. Trying to appease everyone is difficult and I went with my gut when it came to the ending this story should have.

As for future stories, I am playing with the idea of writing more one-shots or multichapter fics that are based around RobStar, depending on the plots or ideas I can come up with. I will probably do outtakes to this story (with an alternate ending included) or even a sequel eventually. Though I am unsure of the timeline and if/when that will happen, I am excited to be back in the Teen Titans fandom regardless and have enjoyed using writing as a positive outlet again.

Again, thank you for letting me share my imagination with you!
