Work Of Art

"What are you painting?" Seamus asked, wrapping his arms around Dean's waist from behind.

"I don't know," Dean admitted, looking at the half finished canvas. He'd been struggling with his inspiration lately, and even midway through this latest project, he still didn't know what he was actually working on.

"It looks like… what I imagine stardust would look like," Seamus said after a long silence. "I like it. I think we should hang this one up when it's finished."

Dean snorted. He loved that Seamus had such faith in him, he really did. It was sweet. Tilting his head up, he kissed the underside of Seamus' jaw. "How was the bakery?"

"Good," Seamus said. "Mum says hi. Oh, and Harry dropped in at lunch to tell us that they're doing a surprise party for Ron's birthday next week at the Leaky. We've gotta be there before six."

"Sounds good," Dean replied softly. "It'll be good to catch up with everyone, it feels like I haven't seen any of them in months."

"That's because you haven't, holed up here like you have been. You should take a break for a while."

"Oh? Did you have something planned?"

"I'm sure I could come up with something," Seamus replied, turning to kiss Dean's face, right by the side of his eye. "We have a bottle of wine at home, and a bed that I'd absolutely love to see you spread across. That's my kinda art."

Dean laughed, putting his paintbrush down. It wasn't like he was getting anywhere with it anyway.

"Come on then," he said, charming his supplies to clean themselves up. "Let's go and make your kind of art for a while."

It was almost four in the morning and Dean was back in his art studio. He'd woken up with a sudden strike of inspiration, and hadn't wanted to waste it. He worked for hours, until Seamus dropped in on his way to work.

"Oh, Dean, it's stunning," he murmured, taking in the finished work. "One of your best yet."

Dean smiled tiredly. "I like it."

"Can we keep this one?" Seamus asked softly. "It'll look great in the bedroom. The colours match."

Dean nodded, and then hugged his boyfriend. "It's called 'Stardust Rising."

Seamus smiled.
