Chapter 16: A Howling Revelation

(Colby's POV)

It's not every day that I get to have sex with the woman I love in a hospital bed after she took a fatal stab wound, but it was an awesome experience that I'll never forget for sure. I had that in mind as I slowly opened my awesome eyes and saw that I was still lying on my back with Kuni II's head upon my chest and a slender hand resting perfectly flat upon the tattooed half of it with the most heavenly smile on her face. We were under the covers, so our naked bodies were hidden, but still: What a position to be in after a steamy night of passion with her.

After five minutes of taking in all of that, that same Asian nurse from last night came in with a smile that was full of glee this morning. I aimlessly played with Cutie-Kuni's silky black-with-highlights hair as I greeted her tiredly. I was still waking up a bit.

"Good morning." I started in a groggy tone of my handsome voice.

"Good morning, Colby." She greeted back with 100 times more energy than me, which made my smile grow. "Looks like you two slept well."

"Kinda. What time is it?"

"It just turned to 8:15 AM. Not a morning person, I'd take it?"

"Oh, no. I'm a morning person. It's just that we had an all-nighter, if you know what I mean." The nurse looked totally flabbergasted by that at first, but then a few seconds later, she noticed and nodded twice with understanding. "Yeeeah…"

"I thought I heard Kunimitsu's heart monitor go off several times on my way out the hospital for the day. You two are in love, eh?"

"Very much, yeah. It started off a bit awkward, but she eventually learned what love for others is all about and we've been inseparable ever since."

"Even with that Midnight Wolf embedded within your soul?"

"Yeah. She loves the wolf as well and, just by being with her, he's been tamed a little bit."

"Huh! I remember hearing the legend of the Midnight Wolf back when I was a little girl." The nurse ended up taking a stool from a corner of the room and sat down casually with her clipboard in hand as she continued. I never moved my position as I continued to pay attention. I didn't wanna wake up my precious fox just yet. She looks so beautiful when she's asleep. "It says that the beast only preys upon devilishly evil human souls, cleansing the Earth of all evil at the stroke of midnight. Numerous dead bodies would be discovered, especially after some mornings after a New Moon. Was that the form you was in yesterday after Kailovan's attack in Osaka?"

"Yeah. I can mutate into it at my own free will now and it's usually hard to control. This time, somehow, it was different."

"So I've heard from your anonymous witness and several other doctors and nurses. Despite your big, bulky, and monstrous appearance of a blood-thirsty beast, you still remained sane after Kunimitsu's injury. You whined like a puppy in pain and everything. And they say that you healed her as well."

"True and true twice. The wolf and I… had sex with her the night before. That one time with the wolf that she wanted to try just for her satisfaction was all that was needed to tame him at 95 percent, if not completely 100 percent."

"Ahhh! I see. You two are quite a pair. I've never seen a couple like you two before and I think it's the sweetest thing ever. Here's hoping you'll continue to strive, even after you move back to America. Will she come with you and your family when that time comes?"

"Yep! Her and her Mother."

"Aww, you're too kind."

"Thanks!"

"Now, the reason why I'm here:" Lay it on me! "We used some of Kunimitsu's blood work to make sure she was completely healthy after you healed her and it turns out that she is completely fine now. You did say that you healed her, but when we first found her, her internal scars were still there. By the time we treated her, well… you heard it last night before you slept with her."

"Yeah. You had to check her 100 times to make sure she was really healed because you just couldn't believe that she would live after that stab from a machete."

"Exactly! Well, as soon as she wakes up, she's free to go. Also, I received word from your sheriff. He felt really bad about what you two went through on that dangerous mission. So, he's giving you both a full week off starting today." Whaaaaaat?! Now, that's a generous offer from him after that near-death experience for Kuni II! Of course, I didn't cheer this loud physically. I just raised a fist in victory, making the nurse smile. "I'd say congratulations to you both. You definitely deserve it."

"Thank you so much, nurse. Can you tell him that it really means a lot to us for me?"

"I sure will. I'll leave you two alone now. Your parents are arriving with your duffle bag soon. They have clean clothes and undergarments for you both." Aw! Thoughtful! I only hope my Mom doesn't become melodramatic. She knows I'm a K9 in the Tokyo Police Department and I'm guaranteed to run into extremely dangerous missions like that…

…and I'm not a baby anymore.

(Kunimitsu II's POV)

That horrible near-death experience felt like it was a nightmare by the time I finally opened my eyes to find myself still laying my head upon Colby-Chan's chest. I couldn't sit up just yet since this was the case and I kept my compassionate smile as I started to gently caress that wolf tattoo upon the opposite pectoral. He felt it immediately and looked down at me with a handsome smile of his very own, but I never gave him any eye contact for now. Besides, he was playing with my long hair that was still free and flowing within the hospital's air conditioning.

This current moment is another new experience for me: Just cuddling with him on the morning after a very steamy night of passion between us. The mysterious power that love can give to us is quite the force not to be trifled with and it just feels all too surreal to me. During this peaceful silence, I was finally able to take in the reason why the New Moon form of the Midnight Wolf was able to keep himself sane, despite his hungry appearance. Colby must've saw that question float around my mind and he stroked my cheek in order to get me to look up at those incredible eyes and his charming smile to match as he gave me his definitive answer:

"Having sex with the wolf was mandatory."

"…mm!" That's all I could say for now. It added everything up perfectly and there was no need to explain it further. All I could do as my response was finally get over top of him for the most delicious good morning kiss I've ever given to him, especially with his massive and soft hands roaming all over my naked body while I had my slender arms wrapped around his neck. This lasted for the slowest two minutes of our lives before we slowly ended it breathlessly and just in time to see Mr. and Mrs. Johannsson just walking in the door with two duffle bags, one for each of them. We remained under the covers, even though my bare breasts were nearly seen.

"Colby! Kunimitsu!" Valtina exclaimed as soon as she placed down her duffle bag and hastily approached us with worry written all in her brown eyes. Colby-Chan shook his head with humor, like he expected this to come from his Mother and wasn't as concerned as she was. "The police and all of the doctors and nurses told us everything that happened yesterday! Are you two okay?!"

"Ma, relax." Colby reassured in that soothing, sexy, and handsome voice that I love so much. I smiled along with him as he said this, but still never moved from our current position upon the bed. "We're fine. It did look really bad, but trust me. I've been through worse without the wolf."

"Oh, thank goodness! Who knew that man received orders to kill you, Kunimitsu-dear? And from your own Father no less?! Have he no shame?!"

"He never really cared about me." I said professionally as well, not apprehensive at all. "He's dubbed me as a mistake in his relationship with Mother and having this happen to me should've been no surprise. Still, I love him because he's my Father. So, I'm doing what I should do in this case: Leave him be."

"…" Valtina became silent as she crossed her arms and was in deep thought about this. During that time, Jawkin gently placed down his duffle bag, unzipped it, and pulled out Colby's blue robe that he allowed me to keep. My smile grew instantly upon that sight as he handed it over to me and turned around to give me a bit of privacy as I finally got out of bed and slipped into it. That's when Colby got out of bed as well and approached the other bag that was beside his brainstorming Mother and saw that his clean clothes and undergarments were in there.

"Let's just all be thankful to God that you both are alive and well after all of that." He finally spoke after his arrival. "You even had sex with her last night, didn't you, son?"

"As beautiful as she is, even after a near-tragic moment like that, how couldn't I?" Colby said with utmost sincerity, making me blush a very deep shade of pink upon my cheeks. "I'd like to call it a thank-you for saving her. She deserves it."

"You sure do take after me in every way, Colby." I bet he does. He absolutely looks like he's an excellent husband towards his lovely wife. "So, what happens now?"

"Sheriff Zaituchi gave Kuni and I a whole week off starting today." That perked up the parents a bit as I went over to my duffle bag and didn't even bother to unzip it as I headed into the bathroom to change. I still managed to overhear the conversation through the locked door. "It's the least he can do for us after what we've been through. Hopefully, Cutie-Kuni won't be getting any calls." I just love that moniker he gave me so much.

"Aww, that's very thoughtful of him!" Valtina cheered after she was brainstorming for a moment. "What will you two be doing then?"

"Well, for one thing: I wanna see Mother Kunimitsu again." Of course, he does. "Sometimes just petting a furry animal can lift a blind person's spirit, no matter how healthy they are. I… really wish I could heal it." I pulled out quite the interesting outfit after that was said and after I slipped into my black bra and matching panties. I dare not describe it. I'll just put it on as I continue to listen in.

"I know you do, son." Jawkin agreed and so did I. "Can't wait to head back to America with them. Maybe we can get an expert over there to cure it for us."

"I hope so." Colby-Chan's voice is just mesmerizing to hear, especially when he's a bit melancholy. "In the meantime, just being in her presence is enough for me. I also wanna get Cutie-Kuni into being spontaneous. I heard that there's a totally awesome theme park in Nagasaki. You know how much I love roller coasters!" There it is! He perked up and sounds so sexy as well. That does sound like fun, although I've never been on one before.

"Well! We won't wait up for you two, then." Valtina exclaimed with excitement. "You both have a good time this week and for God's sake: Don't hesitate to call JT at some point during your time off. See if you two can solve this mystery together like the best friends I remember. Once it's over, and your father and I have been discussing it, we would like to adopt him as your brother after we move back to Maine." Oh, wow! This is a new development! Colby-Chan would be so happy! Well, I'm dressed. Time to see his handsome smile of pure joy after hearing that.

(Colby's POV)

Adopt JT into the Johannsson family name?! As my BROTHER?! That would make me the happiest man in the world! I didn't even need to respond to it verbally. I just gave my totally awesome parents the most heartwarming group hug we've ever had in our lives! It's never too late for adoptions and I'd say this is the perfect time. Definitely cannot wait to head back to Maine within two years. After a full minute of that embrace, Kunimitsu II finally stepped out of the bathroom after she changed into her clothes and what she had on blew me away:

A purple crop top with matching arm warmers, baggy white boyfriend jeans, and her signature purple sneakers that she wears with her badass Urban Ninja outfit, showing some midriff to top it all off.

Holy hot damn! She looks so sexy cute!

"Whoah… Kuni… you… you look…" I was speechless after that, even while I approached her for a better look. She never shied away from me as usual and just stood there casually, making her look regal at this point. My parents watched this with admiration in their eyes as this scene continued between us.

"Irresistible?" Kunimitsu playfully guessed as she wrapped her arms around my neck as soon as I approached her. "And probably badass?"

"All of the above, yeah." I replied in a dreamy tone as my hands went down to that cute booty of hers that I love so much. She never looked away from me after that. She just returned the favor and that made my parents softly snicker behind me. "Mm! This is gonna be the best week off I've ever had since I became a cop."

"Same here. Let's see if we can tame your wolf as well. I wanna hear both of your hearts beating at the same time in perfect sync afterwards."

"It'll definitely happen for sure." It was a promise set in stone. Midnight and I are getting really close to it and I've got no doubt we'll be there by the end of this week. It's a challenge worth taking and I'm all up for it.

So, with all of that in mind, Kuni II and I decided to pay her Mom a visit first before we start this wild week. As the regular Midnight Wolf, we just arrived at the main brick-floored entrance to the Vermilion Gates home. Cutie-Kuni then dismounted and I continued to follow her up the temple steps and she pushed the double doors open to see Master Kunimitsu much more perked up than before, even though she was still sick and blind. One of her nurses had just finished giving her medication and she smiled as soon as she turned towards us, making it seem like she could see us. A few more paces after our entrance, we finally approached her on her left side. I made my peaceful presence this time by gently laying my huge head on her covered lap with a massive paw over her knees for added comfort. Mother Kuni didn't even hesitate as she started giving me soothing pats on my head, right on the little tuffs of fur between my pointed ears. This made her smile grow even bigger and it made Kuni II shed only two tears of joy as she took a chair and sat down casually as her Mother spoke in her happiest tone yet:

"You've become one with the wolf, Colby-San. I'm so proud of you!"

Just like your daughter when I hugged her as the New Moon Midnight Wolf. I quoted with agreement and humor. I just couldn't believe that she said that and it took me several questions to make sure I wasn't hearing things. Both of you think so much alike and, to be honest: I actually love it.

"I'm so glad you feel that way. Her love for you has skyrocketed to the skies within the clouds at this point. When it gets up to the stars, then it's officially been set in stone that you mean the world to her. I trust you with her with all of my heart."

Thank you, Master Kunimitsu. I honestly didn't think she would love me regardless of this wolf. That's when I lifted my other paw upon the bed on the opposite side of my head and Midnight started to whine with concern in agreement as I continued. Mother Kuni's massage never ceased. Do you think she might have a way of really becoming her inner fox? That was a question that had actually been brewing in my mind since the whole little feud between this wolf and her kitsune started back when we first met and both of them bowed their heads with deep thought, having Cutie-Kuni cross her arms as well.

"…it's a trait that I'm not too proud of passing down." Whhhhat? Hearing this made me perk up my head without moving my paws and she wasn't disappointed as it made her stop the soothing massage. "It's also the absolute and primary reason why her Father refused to accept her. As a woman in her golden years, I cannot perform this power any longer, but my daughter can. She just… hasn't noticed this power."

"Why didn't you tell me about it before?!" Kuni II asked with fury in her adorably deep voice as she stood up with a glow of disappointment in those beautiful grey eyes. Her Mother sighed as she kept her head bowed down with shame and a slender hand upon one of my massive paws this time. "And why haven't I been able to access it?!"

"It's something you have to figure out for yourself. There was a good reason for keeping it from you all of these years: You would've been like Colby-San: Not being able to control it the first time. The Kitsune is an extremely powerful and dangerous mythical fox that not even the most elite of hosts could muster. It's no wonder it was at odds with Colby's wolf when you first met. It was trying to prove its power." That. Makes. Perfect. Sense! Triggering it is probably much more complicated compared to my power, but I love her this much to allow her to gain access to it eventually. I won't stop her. "Do you understand, Daughter?"

"Yes, Mother." Cutie-Kuni replied as she calmly sat back down in her chair with disbelief written all over that cute face. It's also no wonder her skills as a ninja is far beyond her years. That alone was enough to impress me during our missions. "So, have you been able to do so during your younger years?"

"Only away from prying eyes. How to access it is… difficult. Of course, there is a warning that I must give you before you even consider trying it: Once it is triggered and you begin to transform, you cannot turn back until you do the inconceivable." Uh, oh. That doesn't sound good. We both gave the master our undivided attention for the next five minutes, waiting for her to finish. At that last minute, Kuni II began to well up in tears with fear in her soul. I kept a brave face upon my muzzle with my awesome eyes looking regal and badass.

"…well? What is it?!" She even leaned up towards her Mother out of desperation. She sighed as she bowed her head. "Why won't you tell me?! I must know!"

"I cannot. I will not. I don't have the heart to tell you. Daughter…" Mother Kuni paused as she had her blind eyes facing her only child while she held her face at both cheeks, feeling her melancholy tears. "…I love you with all of my heart. And I know you do as well in return towards me. If you do, you will heed my words and just take in everything I told you about your newfound power with a grain of salt until you can figure it all out on your own. I believe in you and you shall do the same."

I believe in you too, Kuni-baby. I finally spoke after so long. Whatever has to be done, I'll accept it, no matter what.

"Please. Don't be angry." It's the most heartwarming moment I've ever witnessed between a mother and her daughter, especially as the former was wiping the latter's tears with her thumbs only, making my precious fox smile with all the love in the world.

"I'm not angry at all, Mother." Kuni II replied in the sweetest tone I've ever heard from her since we've met before she embraced her Mother with every last ounce of her honor and love. "I will take it all in stride for now, especially since this is about Colby-Chan and getting his friendship with JT in harmony this week." This hug lasted for the next two minutes before they parted, but still held hands together for a moment as she continued. "We've been granted this whole week off to get it all done and eventually get the wolf in perfect sync with Colby. And I hope you won't mind, but he's also allowing me to become spontaneous for the first time in my life. Will you be okay with that?"

"That's all I want from the both of you: To have fun and keep the love alive regardless. Do not worry about me and try not to let this knowledge of the Kitsune Spirit haunt you." One more hug between the two foxes after that was said and it ended as usual with the kiss on the Mother's forehead. "May it guide you towards peace until then. I love you."

"I love you too, Mother." Wow! What a revelation we all just discovered during this visit. It was definitely something worth sharing to my parents later on, but for now and like she said, it's all about us this week.

It's about time I showed her the substantial benefits of just simply having good ol' fashioned fun without any repercussions.

She will not regret it.

(Kunimitsu II's POV)

Having me with the ability to transform into my Kitsune Spirit just like Colby's Midnight Wolf? I never knew it would happen! I did remember her telling me that she once dreamed of being bitten by the spirit back when she was a little girl herself, but she didn't want to believe that it was a real bite at the time. It all became clear to her by her 12th birthday that she saw the bite mark that was faded upon her right leg. She's bathed herself many times and never felt the burn or stings that usually come from an injury like that. The reason why was the only mystery that not even I could solve.

All of that was brewing in my head as I was currently on another peaceful ride through the busy highways of Tokyo on top of Colby the Midnight Wolf. I knew that the many passing drivers in their vehicles were just astonished to see us, but I was just too focused on this perplexing revelation that had just hit me after a near-death experience. Feeling this emotion within his soul, Colby decided to start a small conversation while he remained focused on the roads before him, even as he weaved through traffic.

Still finding it hard to believe, eh? He asked me casually. I slightly chuckled at that benefactor, but I still remained serious in my eyes as I replied:

"As difficult as it is with your wolf, I'm actually scared of myself now." I said this with utmost honesty. "Especially since Mother wouldn't tell me what that 'inconceivable' action I have to take is in order to turn back. I can't even guess."

Me, neither. But, whatever it is, I'll stick by ya. At that last word, we approached a bridge and he stopped to look down from it. There it is! Mizuki Park. It looked breathtaking from here! I've never seen so many rollercoasters and various rides taking over practically every square foot of the area! I've been meaning to ask my parents to take me there after we had just settled in because I saw it on the plane before landing at the airport, but I kept forgetting about it. This time, we're gonna have a good time. Have you ever been on a rollercoaster before?

"Never." My smile never ceased as I said this. I was too excited about this.

Think you'll be scared after your first one? Now, that was a rhetorical question. All I did as my response regardless was scoff with confidence, tightening my grip upon his fuzzy mane afterwards. Huh! I see! Well… He paused as he got up on the barrier of the bridge and perched on it like a cat for a moment and I braced myself. …get ready for a small taste right now. I'm taking a shortcut through these trees. And at that first graceful leap, I felt that instant rush of adrenaline flow through me like blood through my veins. He made the most professional leaps and bounds upon a few trees and buildings that was a straight path towards the park. I couldn't help but scream with delight as I was in for this incredible ride! He remained silent and was in full focus along the trek down, but I can feel a smile upon his muzzle. Tee-hee!

This is gonna be a long week.

It took us five slow minutes to finally make landfall at a decent distance of about five miles away from the main gates of the massive theme park. I took my time dismounting from his back before Colby turned back into his sexy human self. He was dressed in a deep blue tank top with matching baggy jeans and snow white sneakers. Damn! He looks so hot, especially with the tattoos. I didn't get a good look at his outfit before, but now that I did after taking a breather from that small preview of a rollercoaster ride, it's safe to say that maintaining my sexual urges for him will be a chore. I must try for the sake of the public.

"Heh, heh! How was that for a taste of a good thrill? Still up for it?" He asked me with a cocky tone in his sexy handsome voice. Again, I scoffed after I finally pulled myself together.

"Absolutely!" I replied with confidence as we were finally on our way towards the main gates hand-in-hand. "Although a good majority of those rides do look pretty fast and long. How long have you been a fan of them?"

"Since I was seven years old." I can tell. He's not afraid of them at all. "My parents had total faith in me to take on my very first rollercoaster at that age. So much so that my not-so-thrill-seeking Mom decided to take on her first ride as well with us. The bad news there is that she never wanted to ride another one again." I giggled at that last statement. Why am I not surprised to hear that? "The good news is that it got me hooked ever since. My childhood dream of taking on every rollercoaster in the world is a tall order at this rate, but I'm still willing to try to achieve it."

"Not even the Midnight Wolf shall stop you, then." We made it to the entrance and Colby didn't waste a moment pulling out his wallet to pay for our admission tickets. "But, judging by your Mother, they must be extremely fast compared to that taste you gave me before getting here."

"You have no idea." The payment was final after that was said and we were given paper wristbands that stuck together around our left wrists as a sign that we are free to roam the park as long as we have them on before making our way inside to see the hundreds upon thousands of patrons at every age and race just carelessly walking all around the park with smiles on everyone's faces. It's an atmosphere that I've already grown accustomed to. "How about we start off with an easy ride for ya?" That question made me pull on him playfully and he nearly took offense to that for a moment, but at the very moment he saw my regal look of disapproval, he pulled off that heavenly smile with those incredible eyes that I adore so much. "Mm! Okay. I see ya, Cutie-Kuni. You wanna go bold for your first rollercoaster, just like I did at the age of seven. I shall not disappoint my fearless fox. Let's get on the fastest, longest, and highest ride we can find. Hope you can hold down your sushi afterwards." Whoa! Are they that bad?

Regardless of that potential outcome, I'm excited. Bring it on, Colby-Chan! I'm not afraid!

(Colby's POV)

She is just like her daring Mother in every way possible, I tell ya!

It's our first full week off and she's already learned the meaning of the word 'spontaneous'. Kunimitsu II didn't wanna go easy for her first coaster and I'm actually proud of her for taking that daring plunge for her first ride. I guess those leaps and bounds towards the parking lot gave her just the right about of an inspirational adrenaline rush that she needed to really take it on.

Those thoughts rang through my mind as we continued towards that first fateful rollercoaster for us to ride hand-in-hand. It just feels so good to be by her side more than ever now, especially after that near-death experience she had yesterday. Another thought that rang in was the fact that Cutie-Kuni could actually turn into her Kitsune Spirit, just like how I turn into the Midnight Wolf. I just couldn't believe it! She's probably had the skill all these years of her life, but never knew about it until today. Her Mother's had the skill before, but due to her old age, she can't do it anymore. Now that it's been passed down to her absolutely beautiful daughter, having her learn to trigger it will be the biggest test of her life. In addition to that, she had to do something 'inconceivable' in order to turn back and gain the ability to transform into it at any time at her own free will, just like I can with my wolf. My sixth sense is already rattling like the tail end of a rattlesnake at the very thought of what that very thing might be and it's not a good sign.

But like I promised: I will stay by her side all the way, no matter what. For now, though, we were both ready to scream at the top of our lungs with delight as we possibly go 90 miles an hour in various loops and drops.

Speaking of which, we finally approached a pretty decent line towards a ride with a sick name: The Dragon of Hell. The design of it reminds me of a similar coaster that back in Virginia, except it was based on a volcano. I looks like it does exactly as I described earlier. I used my sixth sense to determine the speed as we were just five people away from being next on the ride and I shuttered. This made Kuni II release her cutest giggle I've ever heard from her since we've met.

"You're not backing down, are you?" She asked with humor and confidence all at once, making her sound regal towards me.

"Hell no!" I replied with just as much humor as she playfully hugged my arm and giggled once more. "I'm not afraid! It's just that this coaster slightly slower than I thought: 85 miles per hour."

"And the highest hill is 30 feet high. I make my leaps and bounds over the tops of buildings that are that tall on occasion. This should be easy for me."

"Heh-heh! You still have no idea. You say that now, but wait until we actually get on. In fact, let's hope we get to sit in the very front car. How's that for a dare?" She never cowered as we were just about to head in that direction by the time it was finally our turn along with several others. In fact, as soon as she got to that very front seat and scooted over to the left, she strapped herself in really quick. That impressed me as I casually took my seat next to her and the attendant started to make sure we were secure before doing the same towards the other nine cars behind us. "Damn, Kuni! You're really as brave as your Mom. I can't wait to hear you scream, then."

"You already have." She said that with her deepest and most seductive tone to date and that made me blush beet red with both arousal and embarrassment, hoping nobody heard that. "The only difference is that I won't scream your name."

"Shhh! Don't say that out loud! Geez!" My red cheeks never ceased as she emitted another adorable giggle with no regrets about what she said as the ride finally made the usual slow trek up the steep hill. At about the halfway mark, I made a quick sideglance toward her and she still remained determined in those grey eyes. She wasn't shaking or nothin'! Shit! She's making my seven-year-old self seem like a coward by comparison. Two more slow minutes later, we were actually at the top of that said 30 foot high hill and what a view to take in before that epic first drop to officially start the ride, but it was like another certain coaster that I remember so well by the time it was at the point of the drop:

It stopped! And Cutie-Kuni still didn't shiver, even as she looked down at the upcoming path, which is something I never do.

After that thirty second pause, it started at that top speed already and we were plunging down fast, hanging on to our supporters for dear life, and screamed like we saw an actual dragon ahead of us at the very top of our lungs!
