Selene watched Paul and Rosalie leave the house. She felt sympathy for Rose; Selene knew there was nothing more Rosalie wanted than a child. She thought she would ask Aunt Hera to bless the couple with a child. But for now, they had to figure out what to do with Bella. The girl had made it evident to at least Leah and Selene that her pregnancy was a way to take the Cullens' attention away from Selene and onto Bella. Selene rolled her eyes, it was a stupid plan, but Selene didn't care and wouldn't interfere; Selene had her child to worry about.

It took a week for the Cullens to realize something was wrong with Bella's pregnancy. She was sicker than Selene was, and Bella swore she felt the baby move. The couple asked Carlisle to perform an ultrasound to see if something was wrong. To Carlisle's surprise, he couldn't see anything on the screen. He tried to take an amniocentesis, but the needle couldn't pierce the embryonic sack. Carlisle and Edward were worried. What did all this mean? Why was Bella's pregnancy so different from Selene's?

Edward suggested to Bella that they should terminate the pregnancy, but Bella refused, "If Selene can have a vampire baby, so can I!" She said stubbornly. Of course, Bella had no idea that Selene was a demigoddess, which made all the difference in the world.

On top of everything else that was going on, the Cullens still had the newborn army to worry about. But they were more prepared for that than Bella's pregnancy. When the battle finally happened, Edward, Jake, and Tanya stayed in the mountains to protect Bella against Victoria and Riley.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield, the Cullens and the two demigods prepared to face the newborn army head-on. Selene and Percy were in their armor and had their weapons ready. Leah and Seth stood with their family. The minute the newborns entered the field, the battle began.

Emmett tried to keep an eye on his mate, worried she would get hurt. But he noticed that Percy, Leah, and Seth were always with her, so he relaxed somewhat. It took less time than the others thought to dispatch the newborn army, and the battle was won. But Alice got a vision, and she saw that Jane and the others were on their way. The wolves, Selene, Percy, and Leah, decided to head to the Rez to be safe.

Tanya told Jake she would meet him there and left, but not before taking Bella with him. They couldn't let the Volturi see her in such a state. A few moments later, Jane, Alec, and Felix arrived, "Impressive. I've never seen a coven escape an assault of this magnitude intact."

"We were lucky," Carlisle answered.

"I doubt that," Jane replied.

"It appears we missed an entertaining fight," Alec commented.

"Yes. It's not often we're rendered unnecessary." Jane explained.

"If you'd arrived a half hour ago, you would've fulfilled your purpose," Edward told Jane.

Jane scornfully looked at Edward, "Pity."

That was when Jane noticed Bree Tanner and tortured the girl to find out any information she could. The young vampire told Jane she didn't know anything. And Jane had Felix destroy her. After that, the representatives of the Volturi left. The minute they were out of sight, Emmett ran straight for the Rez to check on his mate.

Emmett arrived at Sue's house within minutes, he knocked on the door, and Sue answered, "Hello, Emmett."

"Hi, Sue. Is Selene here?"

"No, she and Percy went to First Beach to heal."

Emmett kissed Sue's cheek and thanked her. He went to First Beach and watched in fascination as the seawater healed Selene and Percy. They weren't severely hurt, but Percy was bitten. Selene healed him with the Waters of Atlantis. Now the siblings stood in the sea with their eyes closed, letting the seawater heal them.

Once the siblings felt better, they walked towards the beach. Emmett walked down to meet them. He smiled when Selene noticed him and beamed at him. Selene ran to him and jumped into Emmett's arms. He twirled her around and kissed her lips, "I'm glad you and Percy are alright," Emmett told his mate.

"Yeah, nothing a little seawater and The Waters of Atlantis couldn't cure."

"Good," Emmett commented, then put Selene down.

Percy walked towards them, "So, how did it go with those Volturi guys?" Percy inquired.

"Fine, they have no clue that you two and the wolves were involved," Emmett informed the siblings.

"Good. The last thing we need is for our dad to smite them," Percy commented, and Selen nodded in agreement.

"So, should we head home now?" Emmett asked.

"Well, Percy and I would have dinner with my mom and Seth. Why don't you join us?" Selene asked Emmett.

Emmett agreed, and they went back to Sue's house for dinner. After having a wonderful time at the Clearwater house, Percy, Selene, Leah, and Emmett returned to the Cullen house. When they walked in, they saw everyone gathered around something or someone.

"What's going on?" Emmett asked.

"It's Bella. She's not doing very well," Jasper answered.

"Why? What's going on?" Selene asked.

They pushed their way through the Cullens and gasped when they saw Bella. She looked sickly, and her belly was more prominent than Selene's baby bump. Selene and Percy looked at each, concerned. They remembered what their uncle had said. If Selene were pregnant with a half-vampire baby, it would progress quickly. Thankfully that wasn't the case. The siblings worried about what Zeus would do to Bella; Selene may not like Bella, but no mother deserved to lose their child.

Selene pulled Emmett outside and told him what was happening with Bella, but Emmett had already figured it out, "What are we going to do?" He asked.

"I'll ask my uncle. Maybe he'll be benevolent enough to allow the pregnancy, but then again, maybe not."

Emmett nodded and went with Selene to the backyard, where no one would see. Selene kneeled in front of the river and prayed to her father, telling him it was vital for her to speak to her uncle. In a sudden flash of light, Selene was gone. She appeared on Olympus, where her father was waiting for her. Poseidon smiled at his daughter and embraced her.

"What brings you to Olympus, Little Starfish?" Poseidon asked.

Selene sighed, "There's a slight problem with Bella Swan that I would like to speak to Uncle about," Selene responded.

Zeus took his mortal form, "Yes, I know all about the half-vampire she carries. You know I cannot allow pregnancy to continue, Selene."

"But, what if the child is not a threat? Could Bella keep it?"

Poseidon looked at his daughter, confused, "I thought you didn't like the Swan girl?"

"I don't, but no mother should have to give up their child."

Poseidon sighed. He knew his daughter was correct; it would have killed him not to be able to see Selene and Percy grow up. Poseidon looked at his brother, "Brother, perhaps we can strike a compromise?"

Zeus looked at his brother, intrigued, "What did you have in mind?"

"Let the child be born. If they display uncontrollable thirst, I will take care of it. If not, let the child live."

Zeus thought momentarily, "Alright, but a price will be paid for the birth and survival of this child."

Selene shivered; Zeus's comment could mean anything, but a chance must be taken. She and her father agreed, and Selenee was sent back to Earth. Emmett was waiting for her when she appeared, "What did your uncle say?"

"He said that Bella could continue with the pregnancy, but if the baby were a threat, my father would take care of it. He was also a little cryptic when he said a price must be paid. I don't know what that means."

"Well, it gives Bella a better chance. Come on; we should tell the others."

Selene agreed, and they went back inside to inform the family.

The days passed, and while Selene was enjoying her pregnancy, Bella grew weaker by the day. By the end of the month, her face was gaunt, and Bella was nothing but skin and bone. Bella would always glare at Selene; she didn't understand why their pregnancies differed. She also hated that Emmett was so attentive, while Edward looked worried and tried to minimize his contact with Bella, blaming himself for her condition and hating the babe in her belly.

Finally, Jake and Tanya suggested that Bella needed blood, and Carlisle agreed. They gave Bella O positive, and instantly, she got better. After drinking two cups of blood, Bella was finally able to eat. Esme made Bella some gets and handed her the plate. Meanwhile, Selene sat on the loveseat with Emmett as he fed her a banana split with relish. He thought it was gross, but that's what Selene said the baby was craving; Emmett happily obliged.

Bella couldn't understand why Selene wasn't suffering the way she was. She finally had enough and asked Selene what was going on, "Why aren't you like me? And why don't you need to drink blood?"

Selene looked up from her book at Bella, then returned to reading, "Not every woman has the same pregnancy," Selene explained.

Bella smirked, "Or you lied to Emmett, and that baby is Paul's," Bella accused Selene.

Anger flashed in Selene's eyes, causing her sea-green eyes to glow. Selene stood and walked toward Bella and slapped her, "How dare you! How dare you accuse me of cheating on my imprint! If you knew anything, you would know that's impossible, and even if I could, I love my mate and would never do that to him. So if I were you, I would watch what I say. I don't care how delicate you are; I'll still kick your ass if you say that again!"

By then, everyone had rushed into the room and saw Bella holding her red cheek. Carlisle stepped forward, "What happened?"

"This spoiled bitch said I was unfaithful to Emmett. I don't care how fragile this bitch is. I'm not going to stand here and let her insult me!" Selene exclaimed.

Edward stepped in between Bella and Selene, "I'm not going to let you hurt my wife."

Emmett was instantly in front of Edward, almost nose to nose, "Then control your blood, singer. I won't have her upset MY mate because of her jealousy and stupidity!" Emmett yelled.

"Emmett!" Esme admonished.

"What? Bella was stupid enough to think she could handle a pregnancy like this!" Emmett yelled back.

"You go too far, son," Carlisle informed Emmett.

Selene laid a hand on Emmett's arm, and he instantly calmed down. He looked at Selene and sighed. Selene led Emmett out of the living room and to their bedroom. Selene closed their door and walked towards Emmett; she leaned into his face and caressed it, "You need to calm down, Em; it's alright."

"But she said you were unfaithful!" Emmett angrily spat.

Selene kissed Emmett, then leaned into his body, hugging him tightly, "It doesn't matter what Bella says. You and I know it's not true, and that's all that matters."

Emmett sighed and kissed Selene's head, "You're right, Babe."

Emmett looked at his mate, "What do you suppose will happen to Bella?"

"I don't know, but my Uncle said a price would be paid for her pregnancy. He didn't tell me what, but I have a good idea."

"What?" Emmett inquired.

Selene sighed, "I don't think Bella is going to survive the birth," Selene told her mate.

Emmett's eyebrows rose, "Should we tell the others?"

Selene thought about it, "We'll tell Carlisle. Though, I doubt it will make a difference."

Emmett stared at Selene with sadness in his eyes. He liked Bella until she turned into a jealous bitch. Still, he didn't want Bella to die, but if that was what the gods wanted, there was no stopping it. Suddenly, Emmett tightly hugged his mate. Even though it was sad, he was glad he wouldn't lose Selene. Selene and Emmett decided to call Carlisle and tell him what was happening.

Carlisle went downstairs and knocked on their door; Emmett opened it, "You needed to talk to me?" Carlisle asked.

Selene and Emmett looked at each other, and Selene sighed, "Carlisle, Emmett, and I have to tell you some disturbing news."

Carlisle looked at the couple, concerned, "What's going on?"

Selene took a deep breath and explained her conversation with her Uncle Zeus, "My uncle may want to exact a price for what Bella has done. I have a pretty good idea what it is, but hopefully, I'm wrong."

Carlisle gave Selene a grim look, "Is there anything you can do?"

"No, when my uncle makes a decision, it's hard to change his mind. Though, I hope my dad can change his mind."

Carlisle rubbed his face, "Then, I will do everything I can to help Bella. Hopefully, we can change her in time."

Selene nodded, and Carlisle thanked her for telling him. With that, Carlisle left to tend to Bella.

A few weeks passed, and Selene's pregnancy was progressing nicely; she was healthy and happy, while Bella looked like death warmed over. Selene and Emmett decided to stay away from Bella; every time Bella saw Selene, she would glare with jealousy and anger. She couldn't understand why Selene wasn't suffering as she was. Bella convinced herself that Selene cheated on Emmett, so Selene's pregnancy was normal.

It finally came to a head when Bella prayed that Selene would lose her child, and that was the last straw for Poseidon and Zeus. Zeus told Hera to start Bella's labor; it was time for him to collect his due. Later, while Bella drank her glass of blood, she suddenly felt a horrible pain rip across her belly. She screamed bloody murder, and everyone rushed towards her.

Bella lifted her shirt and saw her belly churning as her baby squirmed. Carlisle quickly picked up Bella and ran to the delivery room he had set up. Bella continued to scream in excruciating pain. She yelled for Edward, but he couldn't bring himself to the room with his wife. Rosalie, Alice, and Esme were with Bella instead. Carlisle gave Bella morphine to ease her pain. But by the time it took effect, it was too late. Bella's baby began to bite its way out of her womb. Carlisle tried to perform a C-section to help the baby, but his scalpel would cut through. He tried biting through Bella's womb, but it was no use; the baby had already chewed its way out.

Finally, Edward went into the delivery room. He saw the horrific sight and instantly injected his venom into Bella's heart. He bit her at all her pulse points, hoping his venom would spread quickly. But Bella knew it wasn't going to work. She could feel herself slipping away.

"My baby, let me see her," Bella begged.

Carlisle placed the baby in Bella's arms and smiled, "My beautiful baby," She looked at Rosalie and handed her the infant, "Take care of her, Rose. I'm trusting you to raise her. Please tell her I love her."

Rosalie took the newborn, "I promise, Bella."

At that moment, a shadow appeared in the room; everyone gasped when it took its form; it was the god Thanatos. He walked towards Bella, "Bella Cullen, for your hatred towards Selene and praying that she would lose her child, your life is forfeit. It is the price you must pay for your child's life."

When Selene felt the presence of a god in the house, she rushed into the room. She gasped when she saw Thantos and bowed to him, "My lord, why are you taking Bella?" Selene questioned.

"It is the price she must pay, and Lord Zeus ordered it after she prayed that your child would die. There is nothing I can do. I must follow Zeus's proclamation."

"NO!" screamed Edward, "If you take my wife, take me too."

"What of your child?" The god of death asked.
Edward scowled at the baby, "I never wanted it. That thing means nothing to me. Only Bella matters."

Thanatos nodded, "It will be done."

Thanatos caressed Bella's cheek and pulled her soul out of her body. Then he turned to Edward and violently pulled out Edward's dead heart, taking his soul with it. Edward fell to the floor, dead. He turned to Rosalie and reached for the child. Rose tried to shield her daughter from the god, but Thanatos paused and stared at the infant, "She is not venomous and poses no threat. I will let her live."

Rosalie bowed to the god of death, "Thank you."

Thanatos nodded, then left with the two souls he collected. Esme sat down and grieved the loss of her son and daughter-in-law, but she understood what Bella had prayed for was unforgivable and that the gods punished her for it.

While the others grieved, Rosalie left the room carrying her daughter. Paul instantly stood when he saw Rose with a bundle in her arms. Everyone had heard the conversation and was saddened by Bella and Edward's death. But Paul smiled when he saw the pure joy on Rosalie's face. Rosalie handed the baby to Paul, "Meet our daughter, Paul."

Paul looked at his daughter and realized the baby looked nothing like Bella and Edward; she looked like him and Rose. Tears of joy ran down Paul's face; he looked at Rosalie, "What do you want to name her?"

Rosalie smiled, "Emily Rose Lahote."

Paul beamed at his imprint, then kissed the newborn's head, "Welcome to the world, Emily Rose."
