With Buggy defeated the rest of the Buggy Pirates made a hasty retreat dragging their unconscious men with them. Harry and Zoro joins Luffy and Nami and Harry returned the straw hat back to his twin. Luffy looked over his hat in amazement. "Wow it looks like there isn't a scratch on it. Thanks so much."
Nami couldn't help but smile at those two. "I'm glad your hat was able to be fixed," she said before handing Luffy a rolled up parchment. "Here you go. It's the chart of the Grand Line."
Luffy happily took the map. "You're giving it to me really?"
"Well yeah you saved my life," Nami replied trying to sound impassive about it.
"So does that mean you'll join our crew?" Luffy asked. At that, Harry put a hand on Luffy's shoulder.
"Let's not try to push it. Didn't you say she lost someone to pirates? She probably doesn't want to join us after something like that?" Harry whispered in his ear.
"Well Blujam and his crew tried to kill us when we were kids but that didn't stop us from becoming pirates ourselves," Luffy countered.
Harry smacked Luffy on the back of the head. "You dolt. Just because we can easily shrug off those things doesn't mean everyone else can." He didn't miss the way Nami's eyes flashed at what Luffy said. Thankfully she didn't press on the matter.
Instead she said "Well, it looks like I'll make quite the prophet if I stick around with you three. But it's only temporary."
"Awesome!" Luffy cheered. Harry smirked to himself. Nami may say it's only for a short while. But he knows his brother will worm his way into her heart like he did with Ace.
"Well then, shall we get going?" Zoro asked. The others nodded but before they could get anywhere they were surrounded by a group of people that just showed up. Though they didn't look like pirates.
"Hey you're not from here," one of them said.
"No," Luffy confirmed. "And you are you guys?"
"We're the townsfolk here," the one that spoke before answered. "We heard a lot of cannon fire. Sounded like something big was going down."
"Oh that. We picked a fight with the Buggy Pirates just now," Harry explained. "They won't be a problem anymore though so don't worry." The townspeople were amazed at the news before spotting the mayor at their feet uncountios.
"Mayor! Wake up! What happened to you? Did the pirates do this?" they cried out as they tried to wake him up.
"Actually I knocked him out so he'd stay out of our way while we fought Buggy's crew," Harry explained. The concerned looks of the townspeople quickly shifted into that of rage.
"Why would you go and say that?!" Nami shouted.
"What? It's the truth," Luffy answered for his brother.
"Well you need to explain yourselves so they don't get angry," Nami whispered to them. However, as she says this the townspeople started readying themselves with brooms and pitchforks.
"Why would you do that to our mayor?" one of them asks.
"Are you pirates too? Did you defeat the Buggy Pirates so you could take our town yourselves?" another asked.
"Well, we are pirates," Luffy admitted.
"And she's a thief," Harry added pointing to Nami who looked ready to pass out.
"We knew it!" The townspeople shouted, getting ready to charge. Luffy just had a big smile on his face as he ordered his crew to run. Harry grabbed one of the treasure bags Nami was holding so she could run easier.
"Why did you have to go and tell them that?" Nami asked.
"Cause this is a good town. And they really care about their mayor," Luffy explained. "Besides, I get the feeling they wouldn't want to listen to us anyway." They rounded a corner and to their surprise Choo-Choo was there sitting perfectly still like always. He didn't do anything as they jumped over him. But when the citizens caught up, to everyone's surprise, he stood up and started barking at them.
The towns folk couldn't move any further, knowing that if they tried to Choo-Choo would likely do more than bark at them. Thanks to him, the Straw Hats were able to make a clean getaway. The twins looked over their shoulders and gave the dog a wave. "Later Doggie!"
"Hope we'll meet again."
The now quartet reached the docks where Zoro and Harry had left their boat. They all stop to catch their breath. "That was a close one," Zoro muttered.
"If it wasn't for Choo-Choo we wouldn't have made it," Nami groaned.
Harry looked around as if trying to find something. "Huh. Wonder where those three are?"
"You mean those three Buggy pirates we picked up on the way here?" Zoro asked. Nami tensed up behind him.
"What are you guys talking about?" Luffy asked.
"We picked up some stowaways on our way here after you got carried off by that bird. They said some woman robbed them of their boat and left them stranded in the ocean," Harry explained before noticing Nami's nervousness. He gave a smirk as he put the pieces together. "You wouldn't have had anything to do with that? Would you, Nami?"
"Yeah that's right!" A new voice spoke up. The four looked towards the larger boat with Buggy's mark on the sail to see the three pirates from before. "We'd figure she'd come back so we were planning on ambushing her but since you guys are with her now we're just going to bail." The one in the beanie hat said with a quaver. He and his companions quickly took off before the Straw Hats could say anything. Much to Nami's relief.
"That was weird," Luffy remarked.
"Let's just ignore them and get going," Harry said. The three men took their boat while Nami boarded the one with Buggy's mark on it. "So Nami, are you really okay sailing around with Buggy's mark?" Harry asked her.
"I mean this was his boat. But I'll get rid of it later," Nami said.
"Hey you kids!" A voice yelled from the shoreline. They looked to find the mayor standing at the edge of one of the docks. His armor was gone and he was hunched over trying to catch his breath. When he looked up at them, his eyes were streaming with tears. "Thanks! Thank you so much!"
The pirates all smiled as they said farewell to the mayor. It was then that Nami noticed something by the mayor's feet. One of her sacks of gold. "Hey what is some of my treasure doing there?" She demanded Luffy.
"Well their town got torn up really badly. They're going to need a lot of money to fix it," Luffy explained. Nami got pissed and started pushing Luffy's head down, trying to get him in the water.
Harry quickly apparates behind Nami and pulls her off of his brother. "You claim to despise pirates and yet you won't help out a bunch of people who were victims of pirates. What kind of sense does that make?" Harry yelled. Nami froze in shock at Harry's words but quickly collected herself as she broke away from Harry.
"I have my own reason for that money," Nami countered.
"Oh yeah, such as?" Harry asked.
"None of your business," Nami said. She and Harry glared at each other for a minute. Her gaze reminded Harry so much of Madam Minerva that he knew she wasn't going to she wasn't going to give any more details.
With a sigh and a shrug he apparates back to the boat his twin and Zoro were on. "Fine. I'll drop it. But just for the record, those who ate a devil fruit can't swim so I'd appreciate it if you didn't try to throw my brother in the water." Nami gave a nod in agreement after she took a second to process the new information.
After about twenty minutes of relative peace Luffy started poking Harry. "Hey, I'm hungry, when can we eat?"
Harry gave a groan of annoyance. "I don't know Luffy. We were so busy trying to run from that angry mob none of us thought to grab some food before we left."
"But I'm hungry."
"Whining to me isn't going to do anything."
Nami gave out her own groan. "How do you guys expect us to make it to the Grand Line like this?"
"Easy. We go to the next island and gather supplies," Harry answered. "According to one of the maps there should be an island with a small town about a half hour from here." As Nami checked the map to confirm Harry's statement Luffy made his way to the front of the ship screaming for meat.
"Looks like you're right," Nami said. "But we still need a proper ship and more crew members."
"Yeah. We need to get ourselves a musician!" Luffy shouted. Nami just groaned in frustration while Harry and Zoro laughed.
As they saw the shore line in the distance Harry once again heard the faint spin of his compass. Looking at it, he saw that it was pointing towards the island. Reaching the shoreline, the group hopped out and stretched their legs with Luffy wanting to know where the nearest place to get meat was. As Nami was pointing out the nearest village on the map, Harry was scanning the treelines while glancing back at his compass. Whoever it was pointing to was close.
Zoro also sensed something was up and placed a hand on one of his swords. "Carefull, we're being watched," he warned the final two members of the crew. Right after he said that what sounded like small gunfire could be heard from the bushes above the cliffside as well as the sound of magic being casted. Harry wasted no time in casting Protego to block the attacks.
With his shield up the opposing side ceased fire and dozens of flags emerged from the bushes. They all bore a jolly roger but instead of a smiling skull it instead looked like it was screaming. Luffy was impressed while Nami was annoyed. Harry lowered his shield as two people around the twins' age emerged from behind a tree.
"Tremble in fright for I am the great Captain Ussop. And I lead over the vast number of pirates who own this land," the one with curly hair said.
While Harry and Luffy looked at each other in surprise, having recognized that all too familiar name, the round face boy spoke up. "And I am his first mate Neville, the most powerful wizard on this island."
Ussop continued. "Surely you four must know that coming to this island means certain death. My army of ten million pirate soldiers would squash you like bugs!" Neville did his best not to flinch at those numbers.
Luffy was amazed, having completely believed him, prompting Harry to bonk him upside the head. "Come on. He's obviously lying."
"Oh crap! He saw right through me," Ussop whispered, freaking out a little.
"I told you to stop using those ridiculously high numbers," Neville whispered to him.
"Ten million is nowhere near as extreme as eighty million," Ussop argued.
"That's still way too much," Neville said.
Nami cleared her throat, getting the two's attention. "It sounds to me like you only have three more crew members." On hearing that, three kids who were waving the flags in the bushes popped up and ran away.
Neville and Ussop were shocked by this but quickly regained their composure as Ussop prepared his sling shot while magic flared up in Neville's hands. "I should warn you. With this sling shot I can rival any man with a pistol. So don't you pirates try anything," Ussop boasted.
Luffy lowered his hat to shade his eyes as he and Harry shared a smirk. "Now that you've drawn your weapon, are you ready to use it?" The two pirates on the cliff were taken aback with the question.
"Guns aren't for threats, they're for action," Harry continued, stepping up until he was alongside his brother.
"Are you willing to risk your life?" both twins asked in unison.
Zoro smirked at the two and decided to join in on this. Slightly unsheathing his sword so the two on the cliff could see the shine he chimed in. "I can assure you we're real pirates. I'd consider your next move carefully."
Both groups were now at a stalemate. Nami kept looking back and forth to see who would back down first. Finally Ussop released the slingshot. The pellet fell uselessly to the ground as he collapsed on his knees. Neville backed away to the tree and slid down on his bottom.
"Real pirates have a lot more punch to their words. It's kinda cool," Ussop whined.
"It won't be if these guys wreck our homes," Neville groaned. "And we can't even stand up to them."
At this Harry, Luffy, and Zoro all just laughed and Luffy said "I stole that line from a pirate named Shanks."
"Hold on, you mean Red-Haired Shanks the famous Yonko?" Neville asked.
Harry nodded. "We also know Yassop. He's a sniper on Shanks' crew."
"That's your dad right Ussop?" Luffy asked. Ussop was surprised by this and wanted to hear more, but in his excitement he leaned to fall down the cliff and started to fall. Luckily Neville was able to catch him thanks to a quick Aresto Momentum.
Ussop picked himself back up and said "Yeah that's right. My old man's name is Yassop. Is it true? Is he really a part of Shanks' crew? And how did you guys figure I was his son?"
Harry clasped a hand on Luffy's shoulder and said "Why don't we explain over lunch." Ussop nodded in agreement and he and Neville led the group into town.
