The jungles was thick and more than once Fred Jones found himself being smacked by a tree branch that Shaggy had momentarily pushed aside and let go, they were following Scooby who, after some time of walking through the wood, had picked up Daphne's scent and they were hopeful that they would soon rescue their redhead friend from who ever kidnapped her. A course Shaggy and Velma wonder how Daphne got taken and where was Fred when it happened, they were having trouble believing that he had been 'just running later' to their date. But as Shaggy quietly told Velma on the boat trip to the island, "We'll deal with that later, for now all that matters is getting Daphne back safely." Velma agreed to this and now they deep in the jungle with the sunlight peering through the canopy to illuminate the path they were following.

It was quiet, except for the natural sounds of a jungle, and Velma was wondering how much farther they had to go, when there came a deep voice "Why hello there." The group looked around but saw no one "Who Goes There!" Fred shouted spinning on the spot. "Show Yourself!" He demanded and the voice chuckled, which echoed as the sound bounced off the trees "What's So Funny?!" Fred asked and the laughing stopped as the voice spoke "What funny is that you think you have any authority to demand anything from me or anyone in my jungle, especially you blondie." Fred was about to snap back at being called blondie when Velma spoke "Our apologized for intruding in your jungle, sir, but you see we are in search of a friend of ours! She was kidnapped and we tracked her here to this island." The voice was silent for a moment before speaking again "Is she a redhead woman, wearing a purple dress?"

Velma nodded "Yes, her name is Daphne Blake, have you seen her, is she okay?" Fred wasn't sure why Velma was asking theses questions, for all they knew this mystery voice belonged to the person who kidnapped Daphne. Who answered "Actually yes I have met her…" "Do you mean when you kidnapped her?" Fred cut in and the others looked at him with annoyance and worry as there was something like a growl in the mystery man's voice as he said "No, blondie, I didn't kidnap her and to answer the your other questions Miss, Daphne is alright and no doubt will wish to see you."

"Will you take us to her?" Shaggy asked "No, but you are on the right path to reunite with her. Just continue to follow the trail." With that there was silence again and the gang exchanged glances before they decided to continue on. Before too long the trail lead to a large stone compound that sort of resemble a military bunker built into the side of a volcano mountain that Velma knew from satellite images was in the center of island.

As they approached Velma could see the panel for the door was state of the art and would be tricky to crack, but before she could grab her laptop for her bag the door suddenly opened and a man's voice, not the one from the jungle, spoke over a speaker. "Welcome, come on in." The group exchange nerves glances, clearly the element of surprise was gone and this was most likely a trap. But the choices were either turn back around and leave, or go forward and, at least for Shaggy, Velma and Scooby, there wasn't any choice since they weren't leaving without Daphne. So taking deep breaths the group headed inside and followed the lights as they illuminated the hallway that lead them into the volcano, "What do you think this place is, Velma?" Fred asked "I'm not sure, but if I had to harbor a guess. It was a bunker built around World War 2 and clearly forgotten since I found nothing about it when I was looking up information on this island."

"Making it a good place for someone to hold a kidnap victim like Daphne." Fred commented, hiding his smirk on thinking about how easy the redhead was taken almost every time by villains. 'Such a cluck, unlike her mother.' His thoughts started to drift the older redhead until he remembered the situation they were in, following the trail of lights the gang soon came to another secure door. Which opened up to reveal a massive room that was made into a laboratory, equipment whirred and buzzed while the far wall had been fitted with a large window that showed a mini jungle placed inside the crater of the volcano. Standing at the window base stood an elderly black hair man in a white lab coat, who smiled as the gang approached "The famous Mystery Gang, welcome, I'm Professor John Harken."

Velma's eyes widened "The Professor Harken, the geneticist?" The man nodded "You heard of me?" He asked "A course, your paper on cross species was amazing, though your practical experiments were a bit strange." Velma said, "Well science is almost never elegant as it is on paper, still sometimes there a diamond in the rut. Such as…" Waving his hand behind him the Gang spotted something emerging from the shadows of the jungle, a figure that stepped into the light and making Velma gasp in surprise. She couldn't help it because though they seen many things over the years from zombies to a living computer virus, the sight of the humanoid black fur wolf just took the cake. Who gazed through the window at the Mystery Gang that stared back in wondered as Harken explained "That is Shay, the first werewolf in the world." It took Velma a second to process the wolf before recalling something "Wait, Shay? Don't you have a son by that name…" Her voice died on her as Harken nodded and she and the others realized why the man had kidnapped Daphne.

"Where is Daphne?" Shaggy asked in a dangerous voice as Scooby growled until a famous voice spoke from behind them, "I'm right here." Spinning around the gang saw another wolf person, who was definitely female with fur the same color as the red hair that Daphne had, standing behind them. For several long minutes there was silence, the mystery gang unsure that this wolf woman was indeed their redhead friend until Scooby decided to slowly step forward. The wolf knelt and held her hand out as the Great Dane approached, who sniffed the furry hand and upon recognizing the scent Scooby happily jumped onto his friend and began to lick her face. "Okay Scooby, Okay!" Daphne laughed as she managed to push the dog off before giving him a hug around the neck, "It's good to see you too."

Seeing that it was Daphne Blake, Shaggy and Velma moved forward to embrace their friend, but Fred stayed where he was in shock. "Oh Daphne, you look… different." Shaggy said obviously and Daphne raised a furry eyebrow until he quickly realized his words and added. "You still look lovely." This made Daphne smile a wolffish smile at the sweetest Shaggy could be even in a situation like this and pulled her friend into another hug. She also like that he could be serious at times because after the embrace Shaggy asked. "But are you okay?"

Daphne nodded "Yes, I'm alright."

"Alright? You're a wolf." Fred said, he still haven't moved from where he stood as Daphne and the others got to their feet. "True, I have fur and teeth. But it not so bad, there some perks to being a humanoid wolf."

"Like what?" Fred questioned as Daphne explained "Well for one, I no longer need a jacket to stay warm, I have same nose as Scooby…" She gave her dog friend a rub on the head before she moved across the room, giving Fred a wide berth as Daphne walked towards Shay who unknowingly had entered the room by the glass window retracting away. "And Shay is no longer the lone wolf on this island." Daphne finished as she went to stand next to him.

"But you're still a wolf." Fred emphasized again and Velma looked at Professor Harken "Given the fact you did abduct Daphne and transformed her into her new 'state'. I take that there isn't a cure for your son and you were seeking a companion for him." Harken nodded solemnly "There better be a cure…" Fred said "And you can someone else to be this mutt mate." Shay growled at being called a mutt and took a step toward Fred until Daphne stilled him with a hand on his furry chest before she looked at her boyfriend.

"There isn't a cure, Fred. And if there was one, I wouldn't take it. Because I wouldn't have another woman go through the process of becoming a wolf."

"Rwas it rpainful?" Scooby asked concerned, trotting over to rub his face against Daphne furry leg. Who rubbed Scooby's head as she said "Yes, it was a mostly unpleasant experience. But I'm alright now Scoobs…" She reassured her canine friend "Still I won't have anyone go through it, especially for my sake." Daphne had a hard time keeping a stern face because she had rarely seen the gears in Fred's head not move in stun surprise. The others had them too but both Shaggy and Velma managed to regain their senses to come over and embrace Daphne again, and once again Fred didn't make a move to hug his now wolffish girlfriend as Harken said.

"I know it will take some time to process this, there are spare rooms that you can use to sleep in since it's already nighttime."

"And you don't want to travel through the jungle in the dark, well unless you're a wolf." Shay joked as he placed a hand on Daphne's hip as the pair showed the gang to their rooms. Along the way Daphne could sense the jealousy coming from Fred, because while he was cheating on her, the man still had feelings for her. 'Though not strong enough feelings to be banging my own mother.' Daphne thought as she watched Fred go into the room given to him along with the others. All except Scooby, who remained by Daphne side and shook his head when she asked if he was going to follow Shaggy. "RI'm staying rwith you, RDaphne."

This again brought tears to Daphne's eyes because despite him being a bit of a scaredy-cat, the Great Dane was truly loyal and a best friend. Who followed the two wolves that he might normally have run away from as they went back down the hall.
