Disclaimer: I'm sad to say that I don't own Smallville. I leave that to creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, along with Smallville developers, Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.
Clark Kent stood in the barn looking out the window when Lois Lane came walking up. "Are you every going to forgive her for protecting you and Ollie?" she asked him.
Clark turned to face her. "She could've come to me," he told Lois. "I'd have gotten him out if she told me."
Lois walked to him. "Months later, her Suicide Squad saved us," she winced as she said the group's name. "They saved us from that virtual world, Clark." She sighed and stopped in front of him to face him. "I don't know about you, but I rather live in the real world." She looked into his eyes. "Clark."
Clark looked down, looked back up at her, and sighed as she made her point. "I know you're right," Clark replied.
Lois crossed her arms and looked into his eyes. "What's really bothering you?" she asked and then continued without an answer. "That Ollie welcomed Chloe with open arms?" She scoffed. "Of course, he did, Clark, he loves her like he hasn't loved anyone. Don't tell me you haven't noticed?"
Clark sighed. He had noticed and that was something that he rather avoided altogether. He also hated the fact that Lois knew him so well and pinpointed those little facts.
"Clark, she's my cousin and your best friend," Lois replied. "Are you really going to cut off that kind of connection?"
Clark sighed and shook his head. "No," he said. "Eleven years of friendship isn't something I'm going to give up."
"Then let Chloe and Ollie be happy," Lois replied. "After the hell they've been through, they deserve some happiness." She smiled at him.
Clark nodded. "Yeah," he said, "you're right."
"Of course, I am, Smallville," Lois said. "Now I can tell you that I want my cousin to my maid of honor."
Clark started to open his mouth to say something, but he recanted.
"Smart, Smallville," Lois said. "I'm not asking her just because Ollie's your best man."
"I know," Clark said, "it's because she's your cousin."
"Well, she is," Lois replied.
Clark finally smiled at her. "The two of you are going to see each other more than the two of us," he said.
Lois smiled as she started to head toward the stairs. "Maybe the Blur and the Green Arrow would be more inclined to do their duties," she said and then walked down the steps.
Clark smiled and turned to the window. Maybe he would take Lois's not so subtle hint. Maybe he and Oliver could keep with tier duties and protect Metropolis while Lois and Chloe planned the wedding.
