Chapter 81
Father/Son Chat
Disclaimer: Let's go!
Cincinnati, Ohio
While Lance was dealing with the aftermath of his foot being shot courtesy of Edward Kelly, Pietro had just gotten home for the night after a patrol of the city and relieved the babysitter he'd gotten for Luna. Several months had passed since he'd taken over for Spencer until he was able to get back on the field and even sometimes talked with the guy after he'd woken up from the beating Redfoot had put on him. And while Pietro had never imagined himself doing this and probably would have laughed in your face if you said it would happen, the Mutant Speedster had come to enjoy the patrols he did for the city of Cincinnati as he was actively doing good rather than being re-active to a situation like the ones the Misifts, the X-Men, and X-Factor tended to deal with. Spencer, while he hated the fact it was going to be a good while before he could be back on the streets as Sonic Blue, was none the less grateful for the fact his city was being watched over by Pietro in his stead. He was still pretty bothered by Keith's descent into madness and the fact AIM had taken advantage of that for their own ends.
Ends to try and take his beloved city for themselves to only end up failing in the end while Spencer himself had been moved to the Jammer School in Cleveland for his safety. Which had been the smart thing to do over all considering Keith's attempts to find him during the AIM invasion until Pietro had gotten him to chase after him. But despite his old friend's descent into madness, Spencer had hope for his friend even if Razor thought he was wasting his time on the guy. Once Pietro had quickly showered and checked on a sleeping Luna, a knock came from the front door of his two bedroom home he'd acquired after taking over for Spencer and frowned. As he wasn't expecting anyone to show up that night and his frown deepened when all he could see was a hat through the peep hole. Cautiously, he opened the door and his eyes widened at the sight of his father! "I mean you no harm, my son, I promise." Instantly began the older man as he took in the reaction from his son.
Only to get a snort of disbelief in return. "Like I'm supposed to believe that?"
"If it helps, I just came from visiting Charles so that he could meet his granddaughter for the first time."
"'Granddaughter'!?"
Eric sighed. "Yes, Legion wasn't the most… Faithful, towards Lorna during their time together." Admitted the old man.
As while he knew Lorna was somewhere in Cleveland and likely with the Cleveland School, he had yet to find a means to cross paths with her. Course it hadn't helped he wasn't on Earth that much thanks to Avalon and his spies could only do so much. Unfortunately, he hadn't a clue of Z-A-1-A but a certain Sorcerer Doctor and the X-Men did and none of them were too keen on ever telling Magneto she was still in the Savage Land and in a happy relationship with one Benny Barumpbump with Darwin also being around to keep the place from dying out thanks to his powers until another method could be found. "Well, the guy wasn't the most stable so that's no big surprise there." Pietro said with a roll of his eyes as the tension between the father and son grew.
Until crying from within Pietro's home broke it. "Why is there a baby in your home?" Wondered Magneto in confusion as his son rushed off and the Master of Magnetism came inside as he closed the door.
His curiousity getting the better of him and his eyes widened when his son brought a baby back from a room within as he soothed the child. "You try anything with my daughter and I will kick your ass all the way to Cuba."
"D-Daughter!?"
This… This wasn't what he was expecting at all! As only he'd come to ask what madness had fallen his son now to be so willing to protect a Human city! Sure, there were no doubt Mutants within Cincinnati and they were always worth protecting but not quite so much the Humans in his view! Pietro rolled his eyes at the older man's reaction. "Yeah, my little Luna. And despite my background and her mother's, she's completely human." Informed the Speedster.
"M-May I hold her?" Came the surprising question, almost as if the man hadn't heard what his son had just told him.
Taking note of the look in his eyes, the old man swore he would do nothing to harm the child and reluctantly, Pietro allowed his father to hold his little girl. "She's beautiful." Murmured Magneto.
"The most beautiful in all of Creation but I'm biased."
His father chuckled as he held Luna. "You're her father so you're allowed to be."
Magneto continued to hold her and even talked softly to her as Pietro watched on, ready to move at a moment's notice if his father dared to try anything until his little Luna fell asleep in his father's arms. "May I put her to bed?" Asked the older man softly so as not to wake his granddaughter.
"Yeah, follow me."
Once that was done and the two men stared down at Luna's sleeping form, the two retreated into the living room. "I… I had other reasons to show up here but it doesn't matter at this point in time. You are doing well, Pietro. And despite her being Human, I will ensure none of mine will dare try to harm her, you've my word." Declared the man dead seriously.
And given he'd allowed Fabian Cortez to be dealt with through Krakoan justice courtesy of his sister sometime ago, he shouldn't have too many problems from his Acolytes. Pietro wanted to rejoice at the praise he'd waited so long to hear in his life but didn't as it was also too little too late at this point in time. "I want to believe you, father, but given the past…"
Magneto nodded. "Yes, I understand and I won't even try to argue my points on that matter. I will take my leave now."
Pietro gave a nod of his own and walked out of the house with his father and watched him leave. I might want to consider moving…
Just to be on the safe side at least.
Somewhere In New York In A FOH Base
"You ever wonder if you've been forgotten about?" Wondered Duncan Matthews aloud to several other members of the FOH as they sharpened knives or loaded up their ammo.
Preparing for a raid on an old factory they suspected some Mutants to be hiding out in. Looks and snorts came his way and he shook his head. "Right, that's just me thinking things then."
But any other thoughts on the matter would be put aside when a loud explosion sounded off, creating a lot of chaos as a result. "Summers!?" Shouted out Duncan as he took in his old rival in shock and disbelief.
And he wasn't alone either as the man grinned at him while his Mutie friends were taking care of his fellow FOH friends, "Yep. And this is long over due, Duncan!"
"Wha-What do you mean by that!?"
He'd find out shortly afterwards with a solid ass kicking! I'll never wonder if I'm forgotten about again! Its better to be forgotten about! Moaned the Blonde later as he was placed in an ambulance and passed out from all the pain he was in.
"Far be it from me to say anything against it, but you definitely enjoyed yourself a lot there, Scott." Rogue remarked as she took in the satisfied look on her long time friend's face.
Scott chuckled and shrugged. "Like I told him, it was long over due."
Gotta love when you get tips about garbage like the FOH.
Author's Notes: Heh, poor Duncan.
