"Rias? Are you alright?" I asked wearily. Her skin was paler than it should be with dark rings under her eyes as if she hadn't slept in days.

"Just tired, bad dream." her voice was monotone and waned with each word that came. She sat at her desk, idly doing homework, although I could tell she was doing it either half-heartedly or completely wrong.

"Alright," I said suspiciously. "I'll go make some tea then." Her only response was a nod as I made my way to the small kitchen that was attached to our clubroom. I quickly grabbed everything I needed for the process and began, not before calling Kiba.

The magic circle shimmed three times before an answer appeared, "Akeno, what's up?"

"Has Rias been acting weird today?" I asked worriedly.

"She seemed fine in class, although Koneko noticed she was an illusion. It seems she wasn't present for any of the lectures today. Do you know why?" he asked, his voice slowly gaining worry.

"I don't. I was by her side the whole day today and didn't even notice. When did she get so good at Illusions?"

"She got pretty good at them last year if I recall correctly. She had to jump into the underworld during the school year because of some family business. Maybe her brother taught her how to be better at them?" He asked with a chuckle.

"I doubt lord lucifer is an expert at them, otherwise he would be hiding near Rias all the time. You know how he is." I said with a grimaced chuckle. Kiba in response snorted, although he quickly coughed in an attempt to hide that fact, it was after all undignified for a knight to snort.

"Yes, well, is there something wrong with Rias for you to be so worried about?" he asked in a blatant attempt to change the subject, causing me to smirk.

"She looks half dead. She says didn't sleep very well. However, I've caught her absentmindedly drawing these weird crystals on her paper. I think that has something to do with it."

I watched, silently, through the window of the old school building. My form was hidden by a spell that Ddraig had taught me. While the gems were immensely powerful, I learned that being versatile was just as important.

"The girl is entranced. I thought you erased her memories, lizard." Phae said both worriedly and angrily.

"I did as I said I would. You didn't mention those gems had some strange physic function on them. Instead of a conscious effort, her obsession is now subconscious. Something I can't fix in my current state." Ddraig said scoffing.

"Well whatever the case, she is now a danger. We were lucky she didn't touch them given she doesn't have my natural protection from them."

"You and the old man have yet to explain the dangers of the gems you so haphazardly create. Fill me in?" he asked, almost pleading.

"The gems are sentient to a degree and act in strange ways based on the temperament of the gem, however, all of them share similar characteristics. One) Should someone, without the required protections such as safety equipment or the specific domain on which Issei control, touch the gems on bare skin then the following will likely happen: the gem will instill a physic connection making the person unable to part with it, then the gem will influence their mind and will become mindless extensions of the gems will.

"two) the gem's power is incredibly toxic and nine times out of ten, the wielder–without the protections as mentioned earlier–will just die a slow death. The other times, the person survives, however, their entire body will be disfigured making them want to die. Many become horrible monstrosities from just being near the gems, imagine if someone were to, I don't know, be manipulated into implanting those gems inside of themselves. They will become something else, something horrifying and the stronger the host, the worst it is.

"We don't know how the devil's body would react to such a transformation and it could easily create something unkillable and highly volatile.

Do you understand now, Lizard?" Phae lectured, hissing near the end.

The said lizard merely grunted for a reply before scuttering off into the unknown of my soul. Phae snorted before he too disappeared from my mental forefront, leaving me alone.

I continued my watch for a while, seeing Rias scribble more and more on whatever she was working on before leaving for the evening. My goal is for an endless sleepless night of ward research and crafting.

Being the most powerful person in the underworld has many advantages, however, when I decided to take over from the previous regime, no one told me that I would be forced to do so much paperwork. Of course, I can't complain about it either due to keeping appearances as the leader of this wondrous race and because my wife – always-wears-a-maid-outfit Grayfia Lucifuge – scares the shit out of me at the best of times.

I paused with that thought, idly looking to my right at the subject of both joy and anguish. She was working on her work, a content smile gracing her beautiful face. However, my musing was interrupted when A knock on the door was heard.

"Enter," my darling wife without a moment's hesitation.

The door opened, revealing a person that I would never have expected. He swiftly came in, and gave an atrocious smile to my wife, making me grimace. His black hair was messy and his lavender eyes looked tired and sleepless. "Azazel," I said after a moment of hesitation. "You look like shit." A small smirk crossed my features.

"Yea, I know," He said swiftly, all the usual charm of the former archangel gone in a defeated sigh. "There have been some concerning items of interest that have kept me up these past weeks."

My brow rose in interest. "I guess you are referring to the strange power spike that happened in Japan?" It was Azazel's turn to raise a brow. "Ajuka complained of the strange readings some time ago. I haven't seen him in some time," I said idly.

"I'll have to talk with him then. I know our kind isn't on the greatest of terms, however, this is something that should be handled with care." I waited to replay, knowing that he'll explain in a mom… "The readings have shown two new divine beings arriving in Japan. Both energies were entirely foreign and caused a lot of turmoil in the trinity due to their appearance on their soil. Amaterasu contacted me in hopes that I would investigate. After all, they did appear near Kouh."

Now that was something that Ajuka didn't mention to me….

My power spiked from my control for the briefest of moments. "I'll look into it, Azazel," I said with a lingering iciness. "Thank you for putting it to my attention."

"Just don't destroy the town," The perv said before disappearing in a magic circle.

"Sirzechs…" Grayfia began before I cut her off.

"I'll just investigate. I won't step on any toes."

"I'm more worried about your sis-con tendencies, my love." She was with a rare moment of warmth.
