A/N: Hey peeps! Wassup? Soo. The inspiration for this letter literally came outta left field and I love it. So here I am at almost one in the morning (my time) eating KitKats and writing out a chapter for y'all. It'll prolly be a day or two before it's released to the public (heh ;P), but just know you can thank my caffeinated brain for this one. Also, it's technically a feature snap shot of a series I'm currently writing. It's another KarrxOC fic, but I'm unashamed to say I'm a sucker for those, so there.

Abrupt topic change alert. But does anyone else out there love Rockstars as much as I? I'm pretty pissed because they took away my fav flavors and I can't find them ANYWHERE. Like they're just GONE. So I'm stuck with the run-of-the-mill flavors. Oh the struggles of a caffeine addict...

Anyway... Review Time!

JessicaLynne - I know I already messaged you, but thank you again! Your kindness is much appreciated and I'm honored to be your favorite! 3. Thank you for reviewing and I'm glad you're enjoying the series!

As always, ANY and ALL flames will be cast aside for my two loyal AI's to devour mercilessly. With or without Michael's permission!

Kitt: ... That's a little harsh, don't you think?

Me: Hell no it ain't!

Karr: It sounds perfect to me *smiles cheekily*

Kitt: *facepalms and walks away muttering* You two are the WORST combination...

Y is for... You Have To Let Me Go

You know that feeling you get when something bad is about to happen? That sinking feeling of impending doom and you know there's no way to escape it?

Well, that's exactly what Bailey was feeling now. Her heart was hammering in her chest as she stared from outside the lab windows. Her best friend and partner was being held together on what was essentially life support, and the prognosis was grim. The virus had taken a heavy toll on the AI, rendering his systems completely fractured and disarrayed. Tears stung and dripped from her honey colored eyes as she watched techs frantically walk back and forth from computer to computer, trying to get a good reading on anything. Her mom was also in there heading the whole thing. The brunette woman had a look of calm determination as she watched over everything happening. Bonnie wasn't the best for nothing. Bailey knew if there was anyone who had a chance at all of saving Karr, it was her.

From down the hall, the teen turned towards the sound of approaching foot steps. Her eyes met her father's sad ones. He opened his arms wide and allowed his daughter to fall into his chest.

"I'm so scared, Dad." She whispered brokenly.

"I know, baby. I know." Michael murmured into her hair. "He's going to pull through. He's too stubborn to give up."

Her eyes squeezed shut. Bailey could only hope the statement was true. She couldn't imagine her life without the grouch of an AI in it. They had known each other for five years now. Three spent working for FLAG as official partners. She remembered that fateful night they had met. If Karr hadn't been there... if he'd been another ten minutes away...

Karr's selfless act is ultimately what won the others over to give him a chance. Well, that and Bailey's begs to not have the AI destroyed, as ordered by the Board at the time. The other's were honestly shocked at the amount of ferocity in the teen's voice as she fought to keep Karr alive. But the pleading did them. The pain in her eyes was too much to bear for the parents. How could they ignore their daughter's valiant efforts? Obviously, something had to have clicked between the two. Something true and pure.

Now, as Bailey caught sight of a monitor blinking and worrisome faces hurrying over, she couldn't help but think that this could all be over. Five years wasn't nearly enough time to have someone you love be taken away. Who else would she share her life with so closely? What about when she got married one day? Or had kids? Who was going to be there to pick her up when thing's got tough?

Who could ever come close to taking Karr's place in her life?

The laboratory door opened and out popped Bonnie's head. Her face was not promising and her tense voice confirmed it. "Michael."

Bailey felt her father straighten, but he kept his arm around her. His posture was stiff, no doubt reading the situation in a manner only a seasoned agent could. "What's happened?"

Bonnie couldn't hide the tears gathering in her eyes. "He's stable for now. But... I don't know for how long."

Bailey fought back a sob. This couldn't be happening!

"Can I see him? Please?" She asked through her tears.

"Of course you can." Her mother came and ushered her over. "C'mere."

Together, the three of them entered the lab and gathered around the black box. It was hooked up to numerous wires and readouts were happening left and right. However Bailey knew enough computer mumbo jumbo to tell things weren't going in the direction they needed to be. Bailey stood back a bit as her mother hooked up another wire to Karr's CPU. The neighboring monitor lit up in response.

"The circuitry in his voice modulator was damaged in the attack." Bonnie explained. "So he can only hear us at the moment, but can communicate with us through the monitor." She turned her attention to the monitor. "Karr? Can you hear me okay?"

The cursor blinked before a response was rapidly typed out. I hear you. Is Bailey alright?

"I'm right here, Karr." The girl was hurry to assure. "I'm fine. You saved me."

I'm glad to hear that. I was worried about you.

Bailey clenched her jaw tight. Her father's hand rubbed comfortingly on her shoulder, while her mother stood beside her, holding her hand. It gave her enough strength to manage a small smile. "Of course you were. Worrywart."

Silence reigned for a few moments. Then,

I would like to speak to Bailey alone please.

The parents glanced at one another, eyes glistening. They knew what was coming and also understood what the AI wished to say was reserved for his partner, as it most likely was going to be the last thing he ever said to Bailey. With a hug from each of them, they left their daughter in the lab to acknowledge Karr's final wishes.

Once the door clicked shut, the AI started typing. I don't have much time left, Bailey.

A shuddered breath. "I know."

I'm sorry this is upsetting you. If there was a way to avoid this, I would do so to end your suffering on my behalf.

"Oh, Karr," she croaked. "Don't worry about me. I'll find a way to get through this. It may take me a while, but I will. I promise."

The cursor blinked. Bailey...

Through the growing mist in her honey eyes, the girl frowned as no new message presented to follow. At first, she thought he had crashed. But then it dawned on Bailey that the AI was seriously hesitating on his words.

"Karr? What is it?"

I just want you to know... you have given me the best five years of my life. Having you by my side has brought me a new sense of purpose, and I am forever grateful. I'm honored to have gotten the chance to know you. You were always my light in the darkest of times for me. I knew you would always take me for who I am and never what I was. You are always so gracious to me, showing me kindness when I least deserved it. Words couldn't come close to showing my appreciation, but I wanted to try and let you know how thankful I am for you and all you've done for me.

Bailey had her hand over her mouth the whole time to words appeared on the screen like a delicately written poem. She could easily imagine Karr's deep voice telling her all this in his soothing timbre. The wind in her hair as the sun beat down on them, while driving down a lonely coastal road with the radio playing in the background.

Bailey... I love you.

A gasp escaped her throat. Then, one by one, the monitors started reading error messages until all that was left was a steady blinking light on Karr's CPU. It faded out like a heartbeat until it too, was gone. Sobbing, the girl could only pull in the casing that once held her dear partner and grieve for the life they had all lost.

I'm NOT crying! YOU'RE the one who's crying! *failing to regain composure* Oh shit. Just leave me alone! And someone get these DAMN ONIONS OUT OF HERE!

Until Next Time! *hides away in case anyone wants to murder me for this*
