An hour later, after planning with Amity, Luz left the library to return to the owl house to gather what she needed.
'Those jerk twins are gonna learn a HARD lesson when the time comes.' She thought, opening the door to see Eda and King on the couch with the bat baby.
The former currently rocking the baby in her arms as it was sleeping in peace.
"Wow, he's a lot more calm when he's not screaming his head off." Luz said with a smirk, gaining Eda's attention.
"One more snide comment like that, and I'll have your tongue for his dinner." Eda said with a blank expression.
"It took forever to get him like this." King said with a groan.
"Well, while I'm glad that I missed all that chaos, I'm just gonna head upstairs to get some of my stuff." Luz said.
"For what?" Eda asked Luz.
"Something important at the library concerning the Wailing Star." Luz said as she walked to her room.
"The Wailing Star?" Eda asked in surprise.
"Yeah, it's going to be fun." Luz said, walking up the steps.
"How much fun?" King shouted to ask.
That turned out to be a mistake as it work up the bat baby, which then spat out two little brothers, before they started causing havoc again!
Hearing the chaos begin again, Luz ran upstairs quicker before reaching her room. She opened her storage chest and got out her uzi, her black machete, her twin hunting knives and even her purge mask.
This wasn't going to be a hunt or a murder, it was just going to be a little SCARE to teach the older Blight children a lesson they'll never forget.
'I can't tell if this will be good for me or bad for me.' Luz thought before she hid all of her weapons inside of her jacket and on her person.
Machete aligned with her spine, uzi in her left hoodie inner pocket, and her hunting knives in her right hoodie inner pocket. Her mask on the other hand, it would have to be carried all the way as Luz strapped it to her head but kept it facing the sky so Amity would be able to see her face.
'Alright, time to get back.' Luz thought before hearing a crashing sound downstairs. 'And maybe I'll leave through the window.'
One advantage of the Purge, Luz had developed her body greatly and could easily get out of a three story building through a window without hurting herself.
"This night might be fun." Luz said to herself, jumping out the window as the sun was beginning to set.
She made it to the library and waited at the left side, keeping to the shadows to make sure Edric and Emira didn't see her before Amity arrived.
'Not going to lie... I kind of did miss this. Stalking my victim, finding ways to break in, the thought of killing... no, get that thought out of your head!' Luz thought, slapping herself in the head.
She kept hitting herself in the head a bit to get out those thoughts out of her head, this was NOT about killing someone! This was just about scaring someone straight, two someones that deserved to be scared straight.
"Hey, you good?" Someone whispered, pulling Luz out of her thoughts.
Luz nearly jumped as she turned around, greeted by the grateful sight of Amity in dark clothes to help her blend into the darkness like Luz. A simply long sleeve black shirt, a short hooded cloak, black legging, and flat shoes.
"Yeah, yeah I'm good. Just lost in thought." Luz said with a nod. "Did you see your siblings leave the house?"
"I did. Had to take a shortcut to beat them here." Amity said with a low tone. "So, what's the plan?"
"Simple, a classic strategy I used in the Purge to… it doesn't matter what I used it for." Luz said, refocusing and avoiding the subject. "We're just going to follow them and make small noises to scare them a little, try and make them leave."
"That's it? It seems like a little…..tame to what I thought you would have in mind." Amity said to Luz.
"Trust me, it's when it's dark and quiet when fear is the most effective. Even the smallest noise could make your heart rate spike up like you drank 6 cups of coffee." Luz said to Amity. "Especially when you're an expect in using fear like me."
"okay, if you're sure." Amity said, trusting Luz with a nod.
"Besides, I don't want you to see that other side of me." Luz said, slowly putting her mask over her face. "Now, let's go."
The sight of the mask was somewhat shocking to Amity yet entrancing, drawing her closer as she reached for it before she heard familiar voices!
"The coast is clear." Edric said as he and Emira appeared out of thin air.
'Gotta focus, it's go time.' Amity thought, pulling her cloak hood over her head.
Luz and Amity looked around the corner to see Edric and Emira standing before the library, the former pulling out a strange looking scroll from his back pocket.
"Alright, let's get in there." Emira said, taking the scroll and putting it on the lock. "Now to wait."
with a small glow of magic, the lock grew to a massive size and allowed the two walked in like it was a door.
Once the two were far enough in, Luz and Amity rushed inside before the keyhole shrunk back to normal.
"Okay, we're in." Luz whispered as she and Amity moved to the nearest dark corner they could find, watching the older twins look around the main foyer.
"The wailing star should be hitting soon. Can't wait to see what it really does." Edric said.
"Me too. I always wondered until now." Emira said before hearing crying. "It's coming!"
Amity and Luz looked up, seeing a star pass over as it cried like a baby. For a few seconds, nothing seemed to happen until all the books began to glow with a strange energy.
"The books!" Amity whispered in shock, looking over the library.
"This is what the star does?" Luz asked, silently cursing how this would make them being sneaky harder.
They two continued to watch the elder Blights before they pulled out a book and opened it, unleashing a flock of birds flying out of the book!
'Okay, now that's actually pretty cool.' Luz thought.
"So the Wailing Star brings books to life? Man, Mittens would freak if she saw this!" Emira said as she closed the book, making the birds disappear.
"If a flock of birds came out of that, I wonder what else could come out of these books?" Edric asked, gaining a smirk. "Wanna see before we get to work?"
"Oh yeah, I do. We've got ALL NIGHT to find Mitten's diary." Emira said as she put the book back on the shelf.
Amity let out a growl like a wild cat, her dislike reaching new heights for her siblings.
"Assholes." She whispered.
"Down girl." Luz whispered, putting a hand in her shoulder.
'It's not like they're going to get to anyway.' Luz thought as she looked up and got an idea.
"Follow me." Luz whispered before expertly climbing up a bookshelf without a sound.
Figuring out her new idea, Amity nodded in agreement as Luz reached down to her. With a silent step and jump, she grabbed Luz's hand and allowed herself to be pulled up next to her.
"Come on, let's follow them." Luz whispered.
The two of them slowly followed them, jumping from bookshelf to bookshelf to stay out of sight. They watched from above as the twins opened more books to see the effects of the Wailing Star. It varied from summoning weapons and armor to producing word bubbles when they talked to even manipulating the weather indoors.
'Geez, this star really is something.' Luz thought as the twins were now having a snowball fight using books.
'So you're having fun while planning to ruin my life? I am going to enjoy making you both pay!' Amity thought with a glare as she looked down at the twins.
Eventually, their snowball fight came to an end as one of them had a new idea pop into their mind.
"Hey, Em, what do you think would happen if we changed a book during this?" Edric asked.
"Change the books? I don't know but now I wanna find out." Emira said with a smile. "Let's find a pencil."
"Now they're vandalizing the books?!" Amity whispered in rage, being held back by Luz.
"Easy, easy. I get your mad but we can't reveal ourselves yet. We still need to scare them a bit." Luz whispered before seeing the horror section close by. "And I think I know how. Follow my lead."
Luz and Amity jumped towards the horror section before landing behind the shelf to stay out of sight.
"What do you have planned?" Amity whispered.
"We need the best horror novel here. No murder mystery straight up but something REALLY scary." Luz whispered.
"I might know what you're looking for." Amity said, quietly and quickly heading down the shelf and returning with a book. "Here."
Luz looked at it and then back at Amity.
"Really?" Luz asked as Amity nodded.
'I will never understand this realm.' Luz said, opening the book.
A large being formed from the book, making Amity cower in fear as she moved closer to the human while Luz herself remained fearless.
'This should be good.' Luz thought.
