Lemillion kneeled down on Overhaul's back and pressed an erasure bullet to his arm. It wouldn't be permanent, but it would give them time to transport Overhaul to prison. He cuffed him afterward and stood up. "Ingenium, this is Lemillion I'm with Ground Zero and Iceburn we've captured Overhaul. Status report." He said. There was a pause before Ingenium responded.
"This is Ingenium, Mimic has been captured and the courtyard is secure. We're making sweeps of the base now. Proceed to the surface with Overhaul his incarceration is of top priority." Lemillion nodded at Ingenium's orders before speaking.
"Right away proceeding to the surface," Lemillion said turning around and seeing Katsuki jerk Overhaul to his feet dragging his unconscious body along the ground as he walked towards the exit that Overhaul had blocked off after Lemillion had appeared.
"Hey, Shoko want to open that up?" He asked. Shoko gave a nod as she blasted ice toward the rubble piercing it and opening up a path. "Alright let's get the hell out of here before this fucker wakes up or that Erasure bullet wears off," Katsuki spoke as Lemillion nodded before looking back to where Katsuki and Shoko had come from.
"What happened to Red Riot shouldn't we go back for him?" Lemillion asked before Shoko stepped back.
"I'll go check on him. The Yakuza he fought did a number on him. He was stable when we left him, but I'll go and get him." Shoko said before Bakugou shoved Overhaul's body into Lemillion's arms.
"You take him Blondie. Shoko stick with Lemillion I'll go get the blockhead it's not like you'd be able to carry him anyway." Katsuki said moving back to the hole he'd blown open. Shoko stared at Katsuki's back wondering what he was doing. Did it really matter who went after Kirishima? She sighed knowing it was better to just go with it than potentially start an argument with Katsuki.
"Fine, I'll take point Lemillion." Shoko said as Lemillion adjusted Overhaul's body on his shoulder and began walking behind Shoko as the two disappeared into the darkened hallway. Shoko and Lemillion exited out of the underground facility into the Yakuza home and from there into the courtyard. Officers were waiting on them with an iron maiden for Overhaul.
"We've got it from here Lemillion sir." The female officer said as she and her partner began to strap Overhaul into the Iron Maiden. Lemillion stared at the unconscious villain as he was carted away and breathed a deep sigh.
"Finally, I've done right by Sir Nighteye." He said only to then think about the other person he'd wronged all those years ago. "Ingenium this is Lemillion, Chisaki is now in police custody. Tell me have you or any of the other teams come across a little girl? Overhaul had a young girl in his custody when Nighteye and I first encountered him. I'd like to make sure she's safe." Lemillion waited with bated breath on Ingenium's words while standing next to him Shoko clenched her fist. She swallowed her guilt at having had the opportunity to find the girl's location but instead trusted her safety to Izuku. She still wasn't sure if that was the right choice or not. After several tense moments, Ingenium's voice came through.
"No sign of a child Lemillion, but our search of the base isn't complete yet. If she's here none of us will rest until we find her." Shoko saw the look of disappointment on Lemillion's face and said nothing.
"I'm going back in," Lemillion said turning on his heel to head back into the base and showing Shoko how badly injured his back was. It must have been agony to carry Overhaul on his back, but he hadn't made a single sound of discomfort. Shoko placed her hand on Lemillion's shoulder.
"Togata you're injured you need medical attention right now. Let Iida and the others search the base while you get patched up." Lemillion turned to look at Shoko intending to argue but sighed in defeat. She was right. In the condition he was in he'd only be a hindrance and how far could he really get in his condition?
"Thanks, Iceburn I'll take your advice." He said walking away to one of the ambulances stationed around the complex. Shoko watched him leave before sighing and sitting down. "Izuku I hope you're doing the right thing." She said in her hunched-over position.
Katsuki walked into the large room seeing the two unconscious figures on the ground. He walked over to the smaller of the two and kneeled down next to the sleeping Kirishima and shook his head. "You idiot you really went all in didn't you." He said before moving over to the larger of the two. Katsuki stood over Kendo Rappa and glared down at him. The guy was a monster and had come rushing at them like a mad bull. If not for Kirishima he would have taken a heavy hit. They lacked cuffs big enough to wrap around this bruiser's wrists, unfortunately, so Katsuki sat down next to Kirishima to wait.
Katsuki activated Kirishima's panic button alerting everyone to their location. After the previous raid it was decided that each hero who went into the base would be outfitted with a panic button that once pressed would send out a signal of their location to all the other heroes. Heroes would arrive soon enough, but just in case Rappa woke up before then Katsuki would be there to greet him. This little reprieve also gave him time to think about what Izuku was doing at the moment. Overhaul was here and alive, so it was obvious that Izuku hadn't been here. Was he saving the girl instead like Shoko asked him to? He honestly didn't know what to think of Izuku anymore. He had fully expected to come into this place and find it turned into a den of burned corpses with Overhaul dead on top of it all.
He feared that he'd come in here and find Izuku dead at Overhaul's hands, but once again Izuku was gone and Katsuki had no answers to his questions. What would happen now? Overhaul was being carted away at this very moment so what would Izuku do now? Would he roam over Japan looking for the next target worthy of his rage and fire, or would he disappear once again fade back into normality and just live a normal life in some far-flung corner of Japan never to be seen again? None of those endings were satisfying to Katsuki and he was sure Izuku would feel the same.
Could Izuku stop killing just like that, or was the need carved too deep into his soul? Could Izuku himself see a life for himself outside of Ifrit? Katsuki had to wonder if was Izuku wearing the skin of the Ifrit, dressing as a demon of punishment while hiding the soul of a kind and just person. Or was it the Ifrit wearing the skin of Izuku a demon devoid of mercy only living for the pursuit of pain and punishment disguising its malice under the guise of a once friendly face? Katsuki scratched his head. "I don't fucking know I'm not a damn shrink?!" He growled to himself before sighing as he heard footsteps approaching his location.
Katsuki stood up shaking his arms at his sides. His arms still stung from the rapid and forceful series of explosions he'd laid down on Overhaul, but the pain had faded from a deep burning sensation to a dull sting. The room was flooded with lights as the colorful suits of heroes appeared before him. Katsuki gave a sigh of relief as the heroes gathered around him. "We got Red Riot's panic signal." One said as Katsuki lifted up his red-haired friend.
"Yeah here's the blockhead. You might want to get some cuffs on that big fucker over there. He hits like a Mac truck. Katsuki said handing his friend over to the gathered heroes. Kirishima would be fine in their care Katsuki still had work to do. He wanted to know where Overhaul was keeping that girl. If he found that place he'd know where Izuku was and be able to go to his side. Katsuki turned back to the hole in the wall and dropped down looking at the other tunnel in the room and started walking down it.
Katsuki walked along the hall coming across no resistance. He looked around the hall before coming across a nice wooden door. The door immediately stood out to him. Every other door or entrance they'd come across either had a thick metal door or no door at all so a nice hand-carved wooden door in this complex was out of place. Katsuki grabbed the handle finding it was locked and gave a savage grin before blowing the door off its hinges. "My bad you masked fuck I'm coming in." He said walking over to Overhaul's computer and booting it up.
Luckily it seemed Overhaul was incredibly confident in his men or had assumed that no one would dare enter his office without him being in it. That lock on the door was just a formality the real safeguard to this room was his men's fear and respect for him. Katsuki went through the computer going through recently opened windows before finding a calendar. He looked through the dates and found something of interest. Overhaul had set an appointment at the hospital once a week with Dr. Ujiko. Katsuki remembered that apparently, Overhaul was a neat freak, but he didn't think he was a hypochondriac too. "The fuck were you going to the doctor every week?" Katsuki asked before looking up Dr. Ujiko and finding where he worked.
Izuku dove down toward Touya with a flaming punch narrowly missing his face and landing his punch on Touya's shoulder burning the flesh there but it was only a glancing blow. Touya turned toward Izuku as if his shoulder hadn't just been burned and threw down an arc of blue fire. Izuku danced back from the flames before returning an upward arc of green flame. The two fires swirled around one another before dissipating. Both flame users were breathing hard as they glared at one another. Their condition was only natural, they were in an enclosed space and throwing fire back and forth. The oxygen was being used up at an accelerated rate. Dabi just laughed before falling into a coughing fit.
"Air's getting kind of thin in here ain't it? We should move to a bigger stadium don't you think." Touya said confusing Izuku for a moment before he saw those insane blue eyes look up.
"NO!" Izuku shouted dashing toward Touya as the latter raised his hands and blasted a pillar of flame upward. Izuku knew what would happen as the sound of cracking stones rang out before the sound of a popping cork echoed in the destroyed lab. The flames instantly reared up towards the hole following the rush of air. Dabi smiled at him as he rode that rush of fire higher and higher. Izuku went to rush after him only to catch sight of Eri in her container. He couldn't leave her down here even if meant that Dabi would get a head start on him. He knew Dabi wouldn't run from him, no he'd wait for him wanting the satisfaction of killing Izuku himself. Izuku rushed over to Eri and slammed his fist through the glass shattering it and spilling its liquid contents onto the ground as Eri fell into his arms.
The lab was shaking as the accumulated damage began to finally surpass what the lab could hold. Izuku held the young girl against his chest as he looked around for an exit. He could take the path that Dabi just went through, but there was still too much fire there he didn't want to risk harming the girl. The only other option was the tunnel he had come down with Ujiko. Izuku barreled down that hall seeing deep cracks forming in the stone as he raced toward the literal light at the end of the tunnel.
The staff and patients of the hospital had successfully evacuated and were standing outside it waiting on the all-clear to return inside. The fire department was on the scene ready to go in when a rush of flame shattered the windows of the hospital spitting flames high into the air. Nurses and doctors alike moved to shield their patients. "What the hell is going on!?" The lead firefighter said as manic laughter could be heard from inside the flames.
"I'm so glad you asked let me tell you. I Dabi a member of the League of Villains and the So-." Dabi was cut off as a flaming boot slammed into him from behind dropping the villain to his knees Ifrit jumped off his back and landed in between the crowd and Dabi. Izuku made sure to keep his face from the crowd he couldn't risk being recognized now. As he stood there watching Dabi get up the figure in his arms moved. Eri opened her crimson eyes and looked up at the man holding her. It wasn't Overhaul or the doctor no this was someone different someone covered in flames and looking just as murderous as those men, but for once, that intent was focused on her.
Eri looked to the other burning man raising himself from his knees. She knew this man he worked for Overhaul. He had never hurt her but if he worked with Overhaul then there was only a matter of time before he did. She tightened herself into a ball garnering Ifrit's attention. She looked into those green eyes and saw…concern…directed at her? "It's ok I'll sto- I'll protect you." He said stepping back to the crowd of doctors. "Keep her safe." He growled to the nearest medical physician never breaking eye contact with Eri. The young girl jumped as a pair of hands reached out for her. Eri shied away from the hands of another doctor after all the last one had been less than gentle with her.
Ujiko was completely apathetic to the pain he caused her much like Overhaul. Eri could only imagine what this one would do. "It's ok they'll make sure you're alright. I know you don't have a reason to trust me but I promise no one will ever hurt you again." He said and the murderous look in his eyes returned, but she didn't find it scary. The look in his eyes made her feel safe. Eri had no doubt that this man would keep his promise to her no matter the cost. She gave a nod as she was handed over to the doctor. As Eri looked back her eyes went wide. Izuku noticed the glowing blue light in the reflection of her eyes. Izuku reacted turning around as Dabi's manic face took up his entire vision. Izuku felt the heat of Dabi's fire as he grabbed hold of Izuku wrapping his long lanky limbs around Izuku's entire body and burst into flames.
Izuku groaned as the fire began to sear his skin. Even though Izuku's quirk made him nearly fireproof with enough heat he could be burned, he was more worried about the doctors and most importantly Eri. He'd told her he'd protect her and he would. Izuku blasted fire from his feet as both he and Dabi slammed back into the depths of the burning hospital. Dabi was slammed against and through a burning wall knocking his grip loose enough for Izuku to pull an arm free and punch Dabi in the face repeatedly. His flaming fist slammed into Dabi's charred face several times before the villain finally let go.
Dabi kicked Izuku in his gut as he created distance from him and blasted fire toward him. Izuku gasped from the kick to the gut but got his bearings in time to use his own fire to shield himself from Dabi's attack. "You think you've won! It doesn't matter when I tell the world who I am just as long as I do! I will ruin Endeavor unless you kill me!" Izuku grit his teeth as Dabi's fire grew hotter and more forceful. Izuku threw down an arc of fire splitting Dabi's fire and crashing against the burned villain. Izuku's eyes widened as he looked at what was happening to Dabi. It looked as if Dabi's body could no longer contain its flames. The staples holding his skin together were burning red hot burning through the skin before falling to the ground. From the split skin, more fire gushed forth. His lips burned away revealing his teeth as his mouth yawned open wider. Izuku watched his cheeks burn and tear open as fire belched from his mouth.
To be honest, Dabi looked shockingly like what Izuku's suit made him look like The fire coming from his mouth the veins of flame running across it in an effort to keep the heat from overwhelming his body. As he looked at Dabi's transformation Izuku could see what he was becoming, a monster bent on vengeance and good only for causing others pain. He clenched his fist as he saw what his future held if he kept going. Dabi stepped toward him with fire bursting from his chest. "You're all going to pay for what you did to me, what you stole from me!" Dabi screeched.
Izuku stepped forward as well staring down Dabi and shaking his head. "No, we're not. You made your choice Dabi. Endeavor told you to stop he gave you an out and you didn't take it, just like I didn't take the out that was offered to me. I could have taken my father's chance and moved to America to be a hero, but I didn't because just like you I wanted to prove people wrong. My pride demanded I take a harder path to achieve what I thought was my destiny. I don't regret the lives I've taken, but I won't lie and say I don't wish that I had taken a different path. I can't change the past neither of us can, but it's never too late to change our future."
Izuku widened his stance and crouched low as he stared at Dabi who held his head glaring at Izuku between his fingers. "I don't care about changing the past. All I care about is destroying Shoko and Endeavor's future!" He shouted before blasting toward Izuku his blue flames rocketing him towards the emerald vigilante. Izuku took a breath and moved forward his flames condensing around his fist gathering at a single point as they grew hotter and hotter. The green flames grew brighter from dark green to light and from there lighter until they were pure white.
"I'm sorry Touya." Izuku rushed forward and the two collided once more.
Katsuki walked out of the Yakuza base seeing Shoko standing near a police car. "Hey, Shoko where is Four Eyes I've got something he's going to need to hear," Katsuki said only for Shoko to turn on her heel and grab Bakugous' shoulders. "We need to leave for Coruscant Hospital right now!" She shouted getting into a nearby police car. Bakugou was at a loss for words but hopped in as well before the cruiser could speed off.
"What the hell how did you know we were going to have to go to Coruscant?" He asked as Shoko looked over her shoulder at him.
"What are you talking about I just learned that the hospital caught fire because of two flame villains having a fight." Katsuki's eyebrows shot up as the police cruiser sped through the streets.
"You mean…?" Shoko nodded. Katsuki bit his lip as he slammed his back against his seat. "Fuck I was too late. Ujiko works at Coruscant Hospital it had to be where Overhaul was holding the girl. Izuku went there to save her and most likely kill Ujiko, but who's the other flame villain?" Katsuki asked. Was there another member of Overhaul's inner circle sent to protect the Doctor and Eri? Katsuki simply didn't know.
Shoko and Katsuki arrived at the hospital or what was left of it. The center of the hospital was an ashen mess with steel beams and stone peering through the wreckage like the bones of a corpse. Firefighters were scouring the hospital ruins to put out the last stragglers of fire. Katsuki and Shoko got out of the car and cut through the crowd around the hospital. The two looked around before a shout could be heard.
"Hey, we got a body over here!" One of the firefighters shouted as they cleared debris. Katsuki and Shoko moved to the crowd of firefighters as they pulled someone from the wreckage. There were a series of deep coughs as the figure started to breathe. "Let's get him to the ambulance." One of the firefighters said as they dragged the gasping young man toward an ambulance. He was placed on a gurney and an oxygen mask was placed over his face allowing him to breathe easier. "That's it slow deep breaths." The nurse said as she began wiping the dust and ash from his face.
Shoko and Katsuki stood at the back of the ambulance and both held gasps as the face was revealed. Pale skin with a pattern of freckles and green bloodshot eyes. "I'm sorry but we should really get him to another hospital he's got some serious-looking burns and might be suffering from Smoke inhalation." The emergency responder said. Katsuki and Shoko nodded to each other and stepped away only for a small figure to slip past them and hold the injured individual's hand.
Eri gripped his hand tightly as fat tears fell down her face. He was the first person to be kind to her she couldn't leave him now. The EMT was about to gently remove the girl only for Shoko to step into the ambulance. "I'll ride with him and her. This man could be a villain it's best to have a hero on board in case he tries to escape." She lay sitting down firmly shutting down all resistance. The EMT sighed. "Ok, ok let's go." He said as the doors were shut and the ambulance pulled away. Katsuki watched the ambulance go and gave a harsh sigh.
"Dammit, now what am I supposed to do here?" He asked rubbing his head and turning to look at the wrecked hospital.
Izuku was drifting he could hear the faint sounds of people talking around him, but couldn't understand what they were saying. He groaned as he opened his eyes. Izuku's throat felt like he'd swallowed the Sahara and his eyes were slow to follow his command to look around the room. As his vision cleared he noticed he was in a hospital bed and furthermore, he was restrained in some kind of suit. The suit went from his neck down to his feet. It was sterile white with his arms pinned to his sides. Izuku shot up and heard the unanimous clicking of several guns being trained on him. His eyes looked around at the small platoon of armed police officers on the perimeter of his room.
"Wh-what?" He croaked before coughing heavily.
"What do you think you're doing this man is my patient!" A doctor shouted entering the room and glaring at the officers leveling their weapons at him. The doctor was a woman with short brown hair and vibrant green eyes. She was dressed in the stereotypical doctor's coat and carried a tablet in her hands. Following her into the room was Shoko whose mismatched eyes stared at Izuku. She moved to his side quickly and placed her hands on his arms.
"Izuku it's ok, it's ok everything is fine just breathe. Take a deep breath." She whispered trying to calm him down as a smaller set of hands were placed on his calf. He looked down to see Eri there her small hands trying their best to comfort him. Izuku took a moment to breathe deeply only to launch into another coughing fit. Shoko moved to the table at his side to pour him a cup of water. "Here, drink slowly." She said holding the straw to his mouth. Izuku sipped at the water and was grateful for the cooling sensation on his throat as the doctor stood at his side observing his vitals.
"Can I get some privacy with my patient please?" She asked only for the lead officer to shake his head.
"No can do Doctor, this man is suspected of being a dangerous vigilante. He shouldn't even be here. We should be treating him at a prison hospital. Until that happens he needs to be under twenty-four-hour maximum security." The doctor seemed to be at her breaking point and was ready to unleash quite the tirade on the officer before two other heroes stepped in.
"Come on guys let the doctor do her job. If it'll make things easier I and Endeavor will be present in the room as well as Iceburn. The number one hero and two others should be more than enough to keep this "alleged" vigilante under control wouldn't you say?" Hawks asked as he stepped into the room followed by Endeavor. The police officers looked at one another before nodding. The officer seemed to be waffling between whether to follow Hawks' advice but in the end, he agreed with the number six hero.
"Sure thing Hawks we'll be right outside." The lead officer said as he and his men filed out with Hawks shutting the door behind them.
"It really is you isn't it, Izuku?" Endeavor asked as his blue eyes bore into Izuku's green ones. Izuku hadn't laid eyes on Endeavor in years. He'd kept abreast of his movements and actions, but he'd never thought he'd be speaking with him again.
"It's me, Uncle Enji." He confirmed but those words felt so small in comparison to everything that has happened. Endeavor moved forward and hugged the boy. He'd thought he'd lost two sons in his life one of his blood and the other by choice, but now one was returned to him. He felt so relieved. "I'm so glad you're safe. What happened to you?" Endeavor said stepping back. Izuku felt a pit open up in his stomach. He didn't deserve this. Endeavor was happy to see him, but would he be after Izuku told him everything he'd done after he told him about…Touya? Izuku couldn't lie to Endeavor, not to Shoko, and especially not about this.
"I-."
"Well isn't it obvious Endeavor? The boy was captured by Ujiko and has been his experimental prisoner for years. The boy was probably freed by the damage to the hospital in the fight with Ifrit and Dabi and with his freedom the first thing he did was save that young girl." Hawks gave an in-depth explanation of what "could" have happened to Izuku. Endeavor looked at Hawks before looking back at Izuku.
"That's a good story Hawks and could very well be the truth, but I'd rather hear it from Izuku's mouth if you don't mind." Endeavor looked down at the young man in the fire retardant suit. "Is it true Izu-?" Endeavor's question was interrupted when a woman with burning green flames for hair entered the room.
"Endeavor Ingenium is here to see you. He's very insistent about speaking with you regarding Ifrit." Endeavor stared at Izuku for a few moments before looking to Burning.
"Alright, I'll be right there. We'll continue this conversation later Izuku." Endeavor said as he left strangely not followed by Hawks or Shoko. His doctor after looking him over left shortly after.
"Your condition is improving the IV is doing its job as long as you rest you'll be fine. Alert the nursing staff if you feel any pain." She said before leaving Izuku alone with two heroes and a young girl. Hawks sighed as he pulled himself off the wall and stepped toward Izuku.
"We don't have much time so listen closely. You need to agree with what I just said." Izuku's eyes widened at Hawks' insistence, but it was Shoko who gave voice to his suspicions.
"What are you talking about Hawks? How do you know that isn't the truth?" Shoko said and Izuku wanted to smile because it seemed that Shoko was still a terrible liar. Hawks shook his head.
"Because Lady Nagant told me about you or should I say my Senpai told me about you." He said staring at Izuku whose eyes widened at his words.
"What?" Izuku asked shocked by what Hawks had just said. "You knew her?" He asked. Hawks gave a slow nod.
"I work for the same people that Lady Nagant worked for. None of them know you exist, of course, there are some who had their suspicions, but nothing could be proven. Before she was…lost Nagant told me about you. She didn't give me your name or anything, but with what she did give me and the look on your face right now I'm guessing I'm right. What I'm about to do is for her." Izuku's eyes lost their confusion and instead gained a hard glint as he stared at Hawks.
"You know what happened to her don't you?" He asked as Hawks nodded.
"I do."
"Tell me."
"I won't." The exchange was quick ending in Hawks' refusal to answer Izuku's question. Shoko could see the slight haze of heat rising from Izuku's restraining suit and the rising rate of the heart monitor.
"Izuku Eri is here!" Shoko shouted shaking the murderous intent from Izuku's eyes. What neither noticed was Hawks replacing a feather blade into his wing.
"Before you get violent I'll just say that Lady Nagant told me not to tell you. Begged me not to would be a better description. She doesn't want you looking for her. That's why she left the way she did. It was in your best interest she was always thinking about you. Let her go and focus on what comes next. You can either "Escape" from this hospital and go into hiding and I mean to go into hiding if you leave this hospital and criminals start dying again it won't be Ingenium out hunting for you. Endeavor and I will be on you. We'll have no choice and the next time I meet you I won't hold back."
The look in Hawks' eyes was one Izuku was very familiar with he'd seen it in Nagant's eyes the night she found him. He had no doubt that Hawks would do his very best to kill him if they met as enemies. "And to hammer my point home how do you think that will affect dear Shoko over there?" Hawks said finally drawing the younger girl into the conversation. "You'll be forcing her father to hunt down a boy he considers a surrogate son," Izuku growled at Hawks' words. He wasn't being subtle about what would happen if Izuku picked up where he left off.
"The other option is you go along with my story of you being a victim of Ujiko's kidnapping after all why else would you be there? You're not a patient of the hospital and you've been missing for nearly ten years so what better story is there? You can pick up life as a regular citizen again. You can actually live." Hawks put emphasis on the word live. "Because you haven't been living you've been existing for the sake of killing and that's not a life that's a sentence. One you no longer have to serve. There are people you can live with now. Endeavor, little Todoroki there, and especially a little girl who hasn't left your side since you've been brought here."
Izuku's eyes moved to Shoko who gave the ghost of a smile and then to Eri who shyly stared at him. He sighed knowing Hawks was right. He no longer had the privilege of anonymity. If he escaped there would be nowhere to hide. Endeavor would come for him and though Izuku thought he may be able to fight Endeavor he knew he could never beat him. "I will fulfill my promise to Lady Nagant and make sure you're taken care of, but I will only do that once. If you want to run I won't stop you, but that will be the only chance I give you."
Izuku lifted his head. He knew what he had to do. Suddenly the door to the hospital room was thrown open and Iida walked in. His dark blue eyes glared at Izuku with the fury of a hero with his target in sight. "You are Ifrit! I have no doubt about it, but for all those who do I'll show you. Iida walked over to Izuku and freed his arm from the suit that was preventing him from using his quirk. "Show us the color of your fire," Iida commanded. Endeavor entered shortly after Iida watched the Engine Hero and Izuku stare at one another. Izuku sighed at Iida's words. For a split second, he had believed Hawks' words about living a normal life, but that was nothing more than a pipe dream.
Izuku may not regret the villains he killed, but that didn't wipe away the fact that he still killed them. No matter how noble his reasons for killing them he'd taken lives and he deserved to be punished. Izuku raised his hand and sparked a flame into existence on his palm. He didn't need to look up to know that the brilliant green flame was there for all to see. "It's white," Eri said staring at the baseball-sized snow-white flame in his hand. Izuku's head shot up as he stared into the white flame in his hand. His stunned look was mirrored by everyone there none more so than Iida.
"What y-you changed its color! Your flame is green!" Iida shouted. Endeavor walked forward.
"Flame colors are nearly as distinct as fingerprints. It's not unheard of for the colors to change, but it's either the sign of great exertion turning a flame from its normal colors to something else." Endeavor demonstrated by creating a palm-sized fire in his hand before tightening the flame causing it to change colors from the normal red and yellow to blue at the tip. "Considering Izuku just woke up from a day of sleep I doubt he has the wherewithal to create white flame the hottest fire around." Endeavor clenched his fist extinguishing the fire in his palm.
"The other way flames change is over time. It takes years for that to take place and considering you've been on Ifrit's tail for weeks now I doubt such a drastic change would have taken place in such a small amount of time." Iida bit his lip as he clenched his fists. He'd had Ifrit dead to rights or so he thought, but that didn't seem to be the case.
"Then are you saying that the body we found is Ifrit's?" Izuku's eyes widened at the mention of a body being found. His heart rate spiked as he clenched his chest. Until just now Izuku wasn't sure if he had killed Dabi. The last moments of the fight were a blur but Ingenium's words set it in stone. He'd killed Touya. Izuku opened his mouth no matter what he felt he knew he couldn't keep that from Shoko and Uncle Enji.
"It's Dabi's body." Izuku spoke catching everyone's attention.
"Dabi, from the League of Villains?" Endeavor asked as Izuku nodded.
"He was working for the Shie Hassaikai as one of Overhaul's lieutenants. He was there to guard Dr. Ujiko and Eri." Izuku took a breath as he looked up. "I killed him." The eyes of everyone in the room widened at Izuku's blatant admission. "He was fighting Ifrit but keeping us from leaving so when he was distracted I used my fire to kill him. I had to get me and Eri out so I did what I needed to." Ingenium crossed his arms as he looked at Izuku.
"Well we can't fault him there, can we? Izuku has been held hostage for years and when he saw a way to get himself and little Eri out he took it. Can we honestly say any of us wouldn't do the same?" Hawks questioned the group before seeing the other heroes begrudgingly nod.
"It couldn't be helped. Dabi was an unrepentant murderer, he wouldn't have let them go even if it cost him nothing." Endeavor agreed. Izuku bit his lip as the half-lie exited his mouth.
"I think Izuku needs to rest. Any other questions can wait until he's fully healed, besides father shouldn't you contact Uncle Hisashi and Aunt Inko? They've been waiting longer than anyone to know what happened to Izuku." Shoko explained to her father. Endeavor gave a nod.
"You're right Shoko we should let Izuku rest for now. Hawks write up Izuku's statement." Hawks gave a sigh.
"Alright Endeavor, but you can't keep working me hard like this." Hawks complained as he, Endeavor, and Ingenium left. Shoko moved to Izuku's side and began to take him out of the flame retardant suit. This is as close as she'd been to Izuku in years. Her hand ghosted across his skin feeling the scars and burns across it. She bit her lip before moving and kissing Izuku. The young man was startled by the foreign sensation of Shoko's lips on his own. He stayed still as a statue before slowly wrapping his arms around Shoko. This sealed his decision. He'd wondered whether to tell Endeavor and Shoko about Dabi's secret, but now he knew.
If Shoko was going to be a part of his life going forward he'd have to tell them and accept the consequences. "Well, it's about damn time. Shoko left me to deal with the Shie Hassaikai aftermath so she could lock lips with you." Bakugou said having walked into the room unannounced to see his two best friends locking lips. "The least you degenerates could have done was wait until there wasn't a little girl still in the room." He chastised as he sat down on the opposite side of the bed. Izuku and Shoko looked at Eri who simply stared at them confused, but happy for them.
"Sorry," Shoko said pulling away from Izuku who just sat there blushing. Katsuki stared at his friend before slugging him in the arm.
"Ow what was that for?!" Izuku growled as Katsuki rolled his eyes.
"Suck it up loser you'll be getting more than that once you're out of here, and…welcome back Izuku."
