Chapter 43
Acnologia slept quietly on the sofa as Arra worked on stitching together some baby cloths. She glanced over and smiled softly. She wished she could have taken him to meet her father and mother back when they were still alive. Her parents would have liked him and would have tried to spoil their grandchildren rotten if they had had the chance. Her mother was free spirited and domineering. Her father was kind and laid back. These traits carried over into her, so that made her wonder who their children would take after the most. Would they be fighters like their father? Would they enjoy running wild, or would they like playing quietly as she weaved cloth on the loom. Arra thought back to her childhood.
A small child ran up to a beautiful silver haired woman. The woman turned and looked down towards the child with warm ruby eyes. She tucked her hair behind her long pointed ears and smiled. This woman was Arra's mother the queen of the Elven nation Life. Arra smiled back brightly with a toothy grin.
"Arra, remember to behave you need to represent our nation when we arrive at Earth next week."
"Yes Mama."
Arra squealed in delight as her mother had picked her up. Her mother and fauther lived separately from her mother in the castle, while her fauther was in a cave nearby the city. When her mother was too busy to play with or teach her, she was by her father's side learning the ways of dragons. While it was typical amongst dragons that only the mothers would raise the offspring, her fauther did enjoy being near her. When her mother took a trip across to the other Elven nations her fauther went along most of the time. If he wasn't with them, he was in the middle of one of his extremely long naps or a trip to visit the other dragon kings. Even though she was extremely young at the time she had already met a few of the more friendly ones he was willing to show her to which wasn't many. Most Dragons disliked Elven people. Which was one of the reasons for the destruction of all three of the Elven nations in the end. Arra remembered the last time she had seen her mother was shortly after this sitting on the thrown working. Bored Arra left to go to her father's cave which had been the main reason she survived when Life was attacked. At the time she remembered seeing various dragons of all colors and sizes flying in overhead. Used to her fauther she didn't think much of it at the time. That was until they let loose several blasts of breath attacks. One of those blasts nearly hit her causing her to fly through the air and crash into a nearby house. Defensively she shifted into her dragon form and gaze fearfully up at the sky. She wanted her mother immediately and did her best to scramble back towards the castle, but by then it was too late. Inside the throne room she found her mother dead on the floor, and no mater how much she called out she wouldn't get up again. With the fall of her mother Life was finished. The Citizens were slaughtered and some of the dragons that attacked cleared out by the time her father's roar was heard.
Arra's fauther arrived shortly after his claws covered in blood of other dragons. Seeing her mother in that state Retoricobliq let out a furious and agonized roar. Arra looked up at him and crooned not knowing what to do halting his rage. Retoricobliq leaned down and scooped up his small offspring in a clawed hand nuzzling her to quiet her down. In his other hand he picked up his love carefully taking her back to his cave. Shortly after he cast magic over her body and entombed her. Being how young Arra was at the time she got angry at all those dragons for stealing her mother from her, which her fauther soothed away despite his own anger. She was barely three and a half at the time. Over the next few years her fauther took her to both Earth and Sky looking for survivors with no luck. Leaving her mother in a underground cave by Sky he returned with her back towards his cave in Life shortly before she turned six.
Retoricobliq laid down for one of his naps with his daughter curled into his side and he dreamed. His dreams weren't mere dreams though they always were glimpses into future possibilities. This one felt different to him though, like it was set in stone. In his dream he saw a young man tearing through his kind mercilessly insanity in his eyes, it then changed to his young daughter holding hands with a child that looked a awful lot like the man he saw earlier. She appeared not much older than she was now. He then saw his cave and five humans looking at a message on the wall he knew instinctually he had made. Finally, he saw an image that split in two. In one his daughter was amoung the humans laughing the man slouched off to the side holding two small girls in his arms, the other was a darker image than any other. His daughter lay dead on the ground as the pink haired human battled the young man who then shifted into a black dragon. Opening his eyes, he knew what he should write on his cave's wall, and also what he had to do. Using his claws, he wrote to the five he had seen in his dream before gathering up his child and flying away from the Elven Cities to a cave near both his kind and some distance away from humans. He knew he would need to have a word with his own kind, hopefully protecting his child. It was when he was away to speak with them that Arra first met Acnologia when she snuck away from his cave. The start of the end of dragons.
