Writer's Notes: To anybody still reading this, this is the last chapter for this version of Angry Birds Reunite. I am currently writing a new, revised version of "Angry Bird Reunite", where the events will happen differently, and the portrayal of characters be done properly. I would like to thank you all for reading this fanfic.
I know that the franchise is not in a good state at the moment, with the whole 'Rovio deleting old/classic games' controversy thingy. I had once abandoned this fanfic as I lost interest in it, but now I'm back to doing the brand-new version of the fanfic. And with that, no more new chapters to the original "Angry Birds Reunite". I may probably add a new "chapter" here (it's more like an update note) just to alert you about the new version of the fanfic. That way, we can start fresh instead of staying on this version.
The only changes I would apply for this version are the documents with the "Writer's Notes" on the chapters, especially some chapters that don't age well in the modern age. I may also fix some grammar errors, but the story events here remained unchanged as it was how the old version of the story look like.
Please be noted that I am caught up with other personal things too, like prioritizing my YouTube channel "Cutix Candy" and other platforms I am on. I'm hoping to improve my writing skills as I work on the revision.
Hope you guys enjoy this incomplete chapter. This was what was supposed to happen afterward, but I'm not gonna continue this version. See ya!
Angry Birds Reunite - Chapter 10 - Old Friends (Part 2)
She's still not moving. And there's nothing Stella can do.
All those precious times of their so-called valuable friendship….. are thrown into the ocean.
And there's nothing Stella can do to bring that treasure.
All she can do for now until her duty starts is to stare at Gale, her best friend, lying down on the bed like a corpse. Breathing but lifeless.
How could this happen?
Even when Gale was still at her castle, minding her own business while she was being served by her minions of pigs, especially that loyal wigged pig who thought that he was still handsome, Stella still proceeded to move on and lived a happy and normal life hanging around with her friends at their house.
Playing with Luca, jamming with Poppy, supporting Willow, and seeking advice from Dahlia were what Stella does on a daily basis.
As if nothing bad happened. As if everything was normal.
Yes, she still forcefully bathe Luca when he didn't want to. Of course, she would get irritated by Poppy's pranks and loud music to the point where they fight.
But that was just part of life. Things get harsh when it comes to disadvantages. No one is perfect. Life would be boring if all flaws were to be erased. We all make mistakes. And these mistakes would eventually be forgiven and forgotten…
…...
Right?
…..
But one thing was never forgotten.
Gale.
She was a part of Stella's childhood. Not just that. But her entire life as well.
They had been together since the beginning. And nothing could ever tear them apart.
Back in the days of youthfulness, Gale would support Stella when she faced an issue. She would cheer her up when she accidentally hurt her beak. This pink bubbly bird was a crybaby back then.
Stella was once injured in the woods and Gale seek for someone's help to heal her. She carried her on her back when she did that. A meanie would leave a weak person behind.
Since that incident, Gale motivated Stella to not just be confident, thanks to her natural charisma, but to also not be afraid of danger, which eventually backed Stella up to also be brave on her own in case she got lost in the woods.
Gale was still arrogant though, calling herself 'the best of the best'. But kid Stella mistook that as a motivator to get herself on Gale's level. Such blissful ignorance.
But that was okay. Gale still cared for her. Who cares about that silly little flaw she has? She was a good friend. A friend that helps people when they're in need.
Gale was not just her friend.
Gale was her hero.
She paved the way for Stella to go to where she is now.
A brave hero who risked her life into rescuing her friends in danger. And a selfless person who cares for everyone in her friendship circle.
She would not have been like this if it weren't for Gale.
Her hero.
But then suddenly, in their later life, she was missing after the camp.
What Stella and the other birds had found afterward was not Gale.
Instead, it was that bird wearing the crown.
That villain.
That was certainly not the Gale Stella knew of.
Because the villain betrays her friends, does not care for them, save them or inspires them.
Ah yes.
Her hero was gone. Replaced by a villain who just so happened to look like her hero.
A narcissistic imposter that wore her face while complimenting her beauty like she was the queen. The queen would order her pigs to destroy Stella's treehouse for the Golden Egg.
That was not Gale.
And she missed her. She missed her hero.
She swore to take down that wicked witch that put Gale into her cage.
And she had finally defeated her. The wicked witch is dead.
But Stella has not found a key to unlock the cage.
Because Gale is stuck somewhere in that stiff motionless body that is currently lying down on the bed.
She can not wake up because of that Golden Egg.
Past
The Golden Egg had traumatized her to the point of her running away to the forest in horror, with the pigs chasing after her.
A few hours later, Stella had already thrown the Golden Egg into the ocean. Everything was back to normal. She would just find Gale and tell her that the egg was gone so that she would be fine. Their friendship would be fully restored in no time.
When the birds went inside the same forest that Gale was heading to, they found the crown on the ground. She might have thrown it away out of shame, some of them assumed.
"Wow," Poppy remarked as she inspected the crown, "I thought she would keep on wearing it by now."
"Maybe she doesn't want to identify with being a bad princess after all," said Stella as she was worried about Gale's safety.
As they continued on their search for Gale as they walked through the forest, and they found her lying on the ground beside the rock. There were not any pigs surrounding her. Not even Handsome Pig.
The birds stared at Gale in concern, her back being shown to them. They could not tell how she was feeling as her facial expression was blocked. She was not showing any signs of movement or even life.
"Gale?" Stella asked her.
No response.
"Oh dear, this must be very tough for Gale to recover," Willow commented in distress.
"What do you expect from her, be normal again in an instant?" Dahlia told her sternly. "Gale has been acting crazy over the Golden Egg out of greediness. I was affected by it too, though not for long. She had been exposed to that thing long enough."
Stella walked closer towards Gale to examine her, not making any sounds from footsteps in order to not startle her. Gale was still not moving, which increased Stella's worries.
As Stella walked around the rock and stopped to a point where she could see Gale's face, she froze the moment her eyes caught something very unsettling.
Gale's eyes and beak were wide open. Completely stuck in that state. Her facial expressions were not changing. It looked as if she looked into the eyes of Medusa.
It would be reasonable if someone held the Golden Egg and touched her with it, except she wasn't fully covered in gold. She was entirely in her original body colors.
Stella shook in utter terror. It looked like the previous incident where she touched Gale with that egg, which turned her into a gold statue. That shocked look on her face resembled Gale's face now, except the latter was much more shocking. It was horrifying about the fact that Gale mentally became still for some unexplained reasons.
"Oh my gosh," Stella muttered as she stepped backward, "...oh my gosh…"
"What's the matter?" Dahlia asked as she quickly ran to check on Gale, only to have a similar reaction upon seeing her face.
This prompted the rest of the birds to see what Stella and Dahlia were seeing. Willow gasped at the creepy sight and fainted on the ground. Poppy stuck out her tongue in disgust. Dahlia covered Luca's eyes to protect him from the scene.
"Ugh," Poppy revolted, "If this is not a horror movie or whatever, I don't know what is."
"Hey, I wanna see-" Luca exclaimed in curiosity, but Dahlia quickly closed his beak forcefully out of a mix of concern and annoyance.
Stella's heart sank. She didn't know when Gale would ever come back normal. She was finally getting her friend back after those countless months of fake Gale being a jerk and only caring about that Golden Egg. Stella missed her best friend so much that when that evil madness ended thanks to her, she was looking forward to meeting the real Gale again. The Gale was overtaken by an evil force that was the crown that made her betray her friends in favor of greed and power. Stella was almost getting so excited that she could not wait to see her again after throwing the egg into the ocean, only to have her hope shattered by her unconscious state of Gale.
Gale was never coming back after all.
She was trapped in a trance of trauma.
Now, with Gale sleeping on the bed, her eyes and beak closed thanks to the birds, Stella does nothing else other than sitting on a pillow and watching her with bags under her exhausted sore eyes.
Apparently, Gale can breathe on her own without the need for a breathing tube. All Stella can ever wish for is her gaining her consciousness back.
She was once hoping to see Gale again. Now she is hoping to see her wake up with a blissful and serene smile on her face.
Ever since the birds brought Gale back to her room, with Stella holding onto a still unconscious Willow, Dahlia examined her by putting her head close to her chest to listen to the heart. She was surprised to hear the heart still beating and the lungs breathing.
"Oh my," said Dahlia, "it looks like Gale is still alive."
"So she's not dead?" Poppy asked with an eyebrow raised.
"Yes, dear. She is in a coma."
Poppy paused for a moment. "... This is way worse, not gonna lie….."
Dahlia sighed. "Now all of us have to take care of Gale. I cannot estimate the exact time she will ever wake up. We need to decide on the necessities. One of us will need to bathe her. The other will need to feed her with proper nutrients and medicine. And another will need to take care of the bed and reposition Gale time after time to avoid bedsores. I'll take the second option since I know what the requirements are to keep her body healthy. What about you?"
"It should be obvious that Stella will bathe her," Poppy smirked.
"Haha," said Stella in sarcasm, "nice comedy you got there."
As usual, Poppy glared at her in response to seeing her not taking her comment lightly. She seemed to have always picked up a fight with her.
"Anyways, wouldn't it be a good idea to take turns?" Stella asked Dahlia.
"Oh, of course!" Dahlia exclaimed. "This is a fair idea. When will we take turns though? Every day? Week? Month?"
"I think every week will be a good idea," Stella replied. "I don't want our duties to end up repetitive."
"Oh great," Poppy grumbled, "so that means I will bathe Gale! Ugh, wonder how she smells under all that perfume and dirt."
"No arguments, Poppy," Dahlia scolded her. "And no, she will be free of perfume and dirt. I do not recommend spraying her with that. Before you go ahead and try to do some naughty pranks on her, I must warn you that you should not disturb the coma patient with something potentially dangerous."
"Why would I do that?" Poppy asked Dahlia. "That's very mean, don't you think?"
"Oh, so you think that is mean," Stella said furiously. "But not this whole 'disturbing our peace by playing loud music'."
"Hey, it was fun!" Poppy argued. "At least you're all conscious and alive, unlike this gal!"
"You know how many times I have to tell you to stop playing music!?" Stella yelled at Poppy. "You kept on playing drums at the wrong time. You woke us up in the middle of the night! You gave me insomnia sometimes."
"Well, it was boring at night if I didn't do anything," said Poppy. "I don't care about sleep anyway, so might as well do something, right? Besides, all of you guys snore so loud at night! What gave you the right to call me loud?"
"What gave me the right!?" Stella said, twitching her eyes and unknowingly shaking Willow on her back. "You are supposed to sleep at night! Sleep gives dreams, so you don't think to avoid them. It's no wonder you take afternoon naps- or actually sleep since you tend to be tired. You wanna do something at night, just go to the forest or the beach and make at least some acceptable noise there."
Dahlia had enough of this.
"STOP! I hate it when you two argue with each other. That's inappropriate of you to almost start a fight with Poppy while carrying Willow, Stella. And Poppy, you tested my patience. Both of you go to your rooms now. Put Willow on her bed, Stella."
Both of the birds stormed off in a rage, making their grudge against each other very clear.
Dahlia sighed again, this time longer than before. Stella and Poppy always had a fight with each other, despite their strong friendship. She remembered that even Gale wouldn't argue with Stella that much in the past compared to Poppy. The yellow cockatiel had always been a nuisance to the birds. Even now, she didn't take this situation seriously in spite of the weight of the circumstances.
The brown owl wished her old childhood friend was still here. Matilda. Now when was the last time they ever met? Back then, they weren't any kind of technology available on Golden Island. Dahlia had discovered how to create an invention with that long after Matilda had left Golden Island. If only she was able to make a phone in the old days to keep her in touch with her friend.
Chapter 11 stopped. The revised/rewritten version is in the work, to be uploaded separately from this version.
