In The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, A few minutes ago
"Miss Forbes!" Elijah greeted as he straightened his ever-perfect suit to make it look more perfect.
Caroline was still surprised at seeing a dead man alive so she was still standing in the same position, AKA her hands over her wide, agape mouth.
"Miss Forbes!" Elijah raised his voice a bit louder, which made her come out of her dazed state.
"Elijah. How are you alive?" Caroline aired her confusion again.
"Miss Forbes. This is an urgent matter. Can I talk with Hope now? Where is she?" Elijah was insistent in his tone.
"She's in London. For college..." Caroline replied, and on Elijah's insistent look, she added, "Fine. I'll call her now"
Caroline immediately took out her phone and dialled Hope from her internet messenger app.
In limbo,
With a thousand swords cutting Landon's brain, metaphorically of course non-stop for about 5 mins, a dark blue light emanated out of Landon and entered into Ken.
Landon, who had blood pooling out of his eyes, nose and mouth, lay on the floor unconscious.
"Ferryman's a dead man now," Katherine remarked.
"We are in limbo. We are already dead," Inadu said in a deadpan tone.
"So, what happens to this guy?" Katherine looked at Ken.
Ken was drawing deep breaths due to Katherine's antics for about a quarter of a minute, after which he answered, "No one can truly die in limbo because they are all already dead. He's in a state similar to what you mortals call..." Katherine directed an intense gaze at him, after which Ken cleared his throat as he corrected himself, "people on earth call a coma"
"Who's gonna be the new ferryman?" Katherine asked the god again.
"You are," Ken smirked, which made Katherine squirm uncomfortably under his gaze.
"But don't worry. This is going to be a boon for you and not a curse." Ken reassured her.
Katherine was still suspicious and looked at Inadu, who just nodded slightly at her. Inadu could not read Ken's mind as he was the one who was the one to grant Inadu the boon of being able to read the minds of other godly creatures like The Ferryman, who, as Ken put it, was now in a coma.
But Inadu was the one who rescued her and protected her when there was an army of people hunting her, intending to cause her hurt in every possible way. She was a survivor and while she understood that Inadu had ulterior motivations, she just believed her.
"Fine!" Katherine agreed.
Ken brought his hands to Katherine's temples as she roared in pain.
Meanwhile, in Regal Cinema,
SK was never the type to drool. Even the first time he laid his eyes on Hope, he recognised that she was beautiful but did not have any feelings. The touch and the contact of Hope's hand on his skin felt like a jolt of electricity at first contact and made him feel things. While he certainly enjoyed the movie, he could feel the heat rising up in his body. Whatever was he feeling? Is this even right?
Hope, meanwhile, was feeling a whirlwind of emotions. There was not a single word that could be used to describe what she was feeling. It was just a touch of their hands, but SK, not refusing her hand, made her smile. It was only for a few seconds, but the feeling felt so euphoric she wished that they were like this all day.
All good things come to an end and, in Hope's case, the end of her moment came in the form of her phone.
"Brrr Brrr," It vibrated against her left thigh.
Hope sighed in frustration as her moment was getting disturbed, but when she looked at her phone, her eyes widened in surprise.
"Why is your mom calling me?" She asked Josie who was to her left.
"I don't know, but it could be something important." Josie replied.
But due to the constant hooting noise in the theatre, neither of them could hear the other, so it just turned out like they were mouthing it to each other.
"SK" Hope called him.
He did not respond.
Hope then touched his hand again, for which he visibly jerked. Then she pointed her index finger towards her phone, which read 'Caroline' and then at herself and then towards the exit.
SK just gestured both his thumbs up at her, after which she was off.
Once she went outside, he let out a breath which he didn't know he was holding. That was something else. The loss of Hope's contact gave him some despair, but thankfully the movie was so engaging. He went back to hooting and whistling in no time as that was all he could do to escape from the agony that ached his heart.
"Hi Chellam!" The villain in the movie called out to the heroine in the movie after which the theatre erupted in thunderous applause and SK also hooted loudly.
Josie, meanwhile, had enough by this point. The movie was nice and all but her mind was thinking of multiple things. Why was she jealous of Hope and SK holding hands? Why was she here if it was too loud? Why would her mom call Hope all of a sudden? After shaking off her thoughts, she thought that the best course of action would be to head out.
So she did exactly that and was absolutely baffled by the sight in front of her. Hope was in front of her phone with teary eyes. There was another person with the same teary eyes along with her mom.
"Uncle Elijah." Hope's words widened Josie's eyes.
This was Elijah as in Elijah Mikaelson. Hope's uncle. He was supposed to be dead 5 years ago but was now alive. The last time a dead person came back alive, it was Josie's biological mom who was used by a malevolent spirit to hurt them, so she had every right to be paranoid.
Meanwhile, inside the cinema hall, while SK was looking at his favourite movie, which was supposed to be an experience that he had with the girls, but, he was dismayed to find that both the girls had gone outside. While his gut screamed not to leave the cinema hall, he was concerned if it was something important. Plus, he had to talk about the 'incident'. There was no way she could not have known about it. So, he had to confront her on that. Also, he was getting paranoid if the girls actually ditched him.
So, his curiosity got the better of him and he decided to leave the hall.
"Sorry Thalapathy," He remarked and left the hall with a heavy heart to find Hope talking with someone on a video call.
"SK! what are you doing here?" Hope asked him with wide eyes.
A/N: Well, Hi Chellam! literally means Hi, Dear in Tamil but is such a huge moment in the movie and in Tamil pop culture in general. So, when I made a reference to the movie Ghilli, I felt the need to include the moment in this chapter. This is just me indulging myself because there are a lot of surprises in the plot from the next chapter.
