*The next day at school before classes begin*
Third Person POV
"Oh, you live at the bakery. That must be pretty cool," Luka said, "It is, but at the same time I need to maintain some discipline to keep my stamina and energy levels up. So, I plan to go for a run every afternoon," she explained. "That's a good way to keep fit, I usually ride my bike. Maybe we could run together every afternoon, at least that way you have company," he suggested, she tried to hide her smile.
"Aww, and here I thought it would be just me and my music," she said with a sigh, "If you would much rather go alone, be my guest, but it can be dangerous to go alone," he stated. "Danger, I laugh in the face of danger," she said in English, he looked at her with a tilt of his head, "Kawaii," she blurted out before covering her mouth.
"What does that mean? Well either of those," he asked, "Danger, I laugh in the face of danger. As for the Japanese, you don't need to know," she answered. "Oh, that line," he laughed, "But why dont you want to tell me the Japanese translation?" he asked, but a deep flat voice responded. "It would be a bit embarrassing to her, pardon me for intruding. I just wanted to introduce myself to you Rairakku," a boy with bright green eyes said as he stood in front of the friends.
His black hair reached his mid-back and was loosely tied, making the single silver sword drop earring visible. Around his neck was a black leather necklace with a detailed silver cross sword pendant and on his wrist was a black layered leather bracelet. His slightly muscular frame was clad in a fitted blue button-up shirt with a white monogram on the pocket and white edgings, he rolled up the sleeves to his elbow. It was paired with his straight black ripped jeans and pristine white sneakers.
"That was a bit of a rude approach Marlier," a boy with a lean build said as he came to his friend. The voice and mannerism of this boy were a contrast to his friend. A voice that sounds like a mixture of fruity and silvery, while his personality seemed light and airy. He was the class nerd because of his sharp intellect and classic aviator glasses with blue lenses, Rairakku thought he looked really cool.
His short thick dark brown hair was slightly messy, but it suited him well and his red eyes, which were usually hidden behind his glasses were now in full view with said glasses on his head. He had on black combat boots, grey skinny jeans, a red and black flannel shirt around his waist, a fitted grey t-shirt and a black leather jacket.
"I'm Anthony Bartholomew Bellamy, you can call me AB if its too long or Tony, and this is Martel-Chevalier Aubert, you can call him Marlier," he introduced and stretched out his hand, Rairakku shook it. "Oi, I've already made my peace with you combining my respectable name but now you want them too as well!" Martel shouted at Anthony before Rairakku could say anything.
"Come on Marlier, your name is so long for just a first name," Anthony pouted as he let go of her hand and faced his friend. "Then just use Martel or Chevalier," he stated with a huff. "But combining it is fun," Anthony said and Martel frustratedly threw his hands up in defeat.
"Whatever, anyway, we wanted to introduce ourselves yesterday, but it was a hectic day with all of the events. I was supposed to approach you at fencing to compliment you since your fencing and martial arts were superb, but Monsieur D'Argencourt was talking my ear off after that idiots actions. Honestly, it is such a pain he is not even the best," Martel stated lazily with a wave of his hand as if the small fight with Anthony and explanation sucked out his energy.
"If you had put in the effort and not given up half way through the match because he annoyed you which made him win then you wouldnt have to go through that Marlier. Also, Monsieur D'Argencourt was probably reprimanding you for trying to skip practice or going easy on the others," Anthony stated, "You're right," Martel stated and turned back to Luka and Rairakku.
"Ah, a pleasure to meet you both. Anthony is one of my favourite names since its Tony Starks first name," she stated causing an excited Anthony to grasp her hands. "A fellow Marvel fan?" he asked, "Yes! Who is your favourite?" she asked. "Stark of course!" he replied, "Mine too! Well, I love Spidey as well, he was my first favourite," she stated and wondered about his nickname. "I was thinking since you seem like a combination of Tony and Peter that your nickname should be Iron Spider we could stick with Tony if you prefer," she replies.
"I like either one, oh but if we split them then you can be Spidey and I'll be Tony we can have their mentor relationship I can't go with a father-and-son bond. Oh, but whens your birthday? If I'm older we can have a big brother and younger sibling bond," he suggests, and she readily agreed. "My birthday is October 7th, the midst of Autumn and yours Tony?" she asks, "July 31st, I'm older by a few months lil sis," he states, and she grins in response as they continue geeking out, becoming fast friends.
Luka and Martel watched the two and turned to each other, "Do you have any idea whats happening right now?" they asked each other, "Oh wait, I do, AB has been trying to get me to watch Marvel for a while now, I just started getting into it this year because we made a deal. Its actually interesting," Martel said. What is with this guy? Luka wondered as he observed the crazy, he was now surrounded by. At least I know when her birthday is now, he thought as he searched for some positive turn.
"Oh right, Martel... I remember seeing you at practice yesterday and thank you for the compliment," she said, "From the bit of fencing I saw, you were really good. I'd love to verse you at full strength in our next class," she added stretching out her hand to him. "Thanks, maybe I will put in some effort then next time," he said as he shook her hand, "Are you in any clubs Luka?" he turned his attention to the quiet observer.
"Raira and I are joining the art club together, other than that I havent joined any other club," he answered, "That's cool, I've been trying to get my kid brother to join, but he gets all shy about it," Martel shares, his flat tone removed and his deep voice filled with warmth. "You have a little brother? Which class?" Rairakku asks excitedly, "Ms Mendeleievs, would you like to meet him during the break?" Martel asked but went on before she could answer.
"I think you two will get along, he has the most creative mind. His stories always make my day and I'm sure you will enjoy them too. Also, whats your mangaka name and the name of your manga? He will love his big brother a lot more when he introduces him to a mangaka, he will be even more thrilled if you turn out to be one of his favourite mangakas," Martel said with a grin. "I'd love to meet him, and my mangaka name is Yuki Kitsune Yūki and the manga is called The Dimension Shattering Ice Queen," Rairakku answered.
Martel suddenly went to his bag by his seat and raced back to the group with a book and pen, "Please can I have your autograph on my copy," he asked in desperation with a bow, hitting his head on the table as he did. "Daijōbu desu ka (A/N: Translation, Are you okay)?" Rairakku asked in shock and was about to correct herself when he replied, "Daijobu desu, (A/N: Translation lets the person know youre ok)," he said surprising Luka and Rairakku even more.
"He studied Japanese as his additional language from the time he was given the opportunity which was when he was ten right?" Anthony asked his friend while giving the others an answer. "Yep, it was around then they offered it, I was watching anime around then and wanted to learn it. My parents and grandpa were all for me learning another language they werent bothered with my reasoning," Martel said.
"I've been reading manga since then to improve my learning and of course for enjoyment. When I came across The Dimension Shattering Ice Queen, I was curious at first and you got me so hooked that I bought the whole set. This is the first issue you published, I brought it to give Marc some motivation, but this is the greatest coincidence so please sign," he explained further, his excitement shone through and Rairakku giggled at the drastic change in his character.
She took his copy and opened to her author insert where, after asking for the proper spelling of their names, she neatly signed her mangaka name and put in a little note with her real name. "To Martel-Chevalier Aubert and his little brother Marc, its not every day you meet interesting people so thank you for making my day, stay cool Eugito. Oh, and Marc if you enjoy doing something, just go for it, you never know what happens unless you try. It worked out that way for me who knows maybe it will for you too," Martel read out.
"Eugito? That sounds like a combination of Eugeo and Kirito," he looked at her questioningly, "That's it, I thought it would be a good nickname since you seem like a combo of the two," she explained before the revelation hit her. "Wait, you know them which means you watch SAO?!" she asked excitedly, "Of course I do! That's my favourite anime well til they ruined it," he answered mirroring her excitement, but ended on a deflated note, she nodded in understanding.
"It started so great, the second season sucked," she said, "Exactly, I mean Yuki and Eugeo were the only good things that happened after that," he agreed emphasising his point with gestures. "And they killed them off," she added with a facepalm, "Exactly!" he exclaimed, shaking his head in disapproval, "Ordinal Scale was good too, but nothing beat that first season," he added with a shrug, "Agree completely," she said with a solemn nod.
"Do you have any idea what's happening right now?" Anthony asked Luka who was observing Rairakkus expressions. He turned to Anthony with a raised eyebrow, "Should you really be the one to ask?" he asked in response. The brown-haired boy gave Luka a cheeky grin, "You're right, but are you getting jealous Luka?" he asked catching the usually cool guy off-guard.
"No way, I mean we are just friends and we only met yesterday," he tried to explain, but Anthony shook his head. "You're normally true to yourself Luka, I won't say a word and you should know that," he said with his eyes closed as he interlocked his fingers behind his head and leaned back. Luka sighed and shook his head as a small smile came on his face.
"I know Tony, I'm happy that you two decided to befriend Raira and to be honest I knew right away how I felt about her. I am not jealous, I don't need to be," he replied and looked at Anthony who had opened one eye and smirked. "Also, I'm sorry about how I was with those guys," Luka said, his features quickly becoming downcast, it was now Anthony's turn to let out a sigh.
He straightened up and punched Luka in the arm, "The past hurts, but we can either run from it or learn from it. I'm just glad someone brought you to your senses and its why we wanted to be friends with Rairakku. She brought back the old Luka," he said with a grin as he held out his fist, Luka smiled, and fist bumped his old friend.
Anthony smiled, Martel caught it from the corner of his eye and turned to them with crossed arms, "Glad you two finally made up," he said. Rairakku looked at them questioningly, Anthony just shook his head and changed the subject swiftly. He didn't want Rairakku to know how much of a jerk Luka had been with that group, as he said the past is in the past.
"When you meet Marc, kawaii will be the only thought. The kid is adorable, you can't help but dote on him. He is so sweet as well, the total opposite of our Marlier," Anthony said receiving a glare from Martel who then tried to hit him. "Of all the people in all these years of school, why did I have to have such a troublesome best friend..." he said giving up on hitting Anthony. "Also, you don't get to dote on Marc, you're not allowed to for a month," Martel added coldly making Anthony freeze. "Marlier that's too mean," Anthony whined, "Serves you right," Martel states with a huff and his arms crossed.
"What is up with those two? They are so weird," Luka whispered to Rairakku, he had his arm on his desk and rested his head on his palm lazily watching the new and quick additions to their group. She giggled noticing the smile he tried to hide and thought that he looked adorable, "You should know, but I will find out how much later. As for the weirdness, it makes them interesting people. I know you like having them around," she said to him.
"Honestly, I prefer having you all to myself," he said with a smirk as he shifted his gaze from the bickering friends to her. She blushed in response, "I know youre teasing, but if you do prefer when its just us and our random conversations, you did suggest our afternoon runs," she said to him but avoided looking at him. He started at her, his mouth slightly open in surprise, I didn't expect such a cute response, he thought before trying to bring himself back to reality.
The bell rang signalling the start of their classes, "So, let's continue this in the break, I'm so excited about you meeting Marc, ja mata ne (A/N: Used informally with friends, the translation is 'Well, see you later!')," Martel said before turning to head to his place. Anthony places his hand on his shoulder, "Before we head out, if you two want to change from a pair to a group for our project let us know," he said, "Will do, ja ne (A/N: Also a casual way of saying bye, the translation literally means something like Well hey)," she replied and the two returned to their places.
"So, do you still want to do the project with just me?" Rairakku asked before their teacher could come to class, "I do, but I don't mind if you want them to work with us as well," Luka replied, it was honestly how he felt. "Well then, we can do the English by ourselves and the Drama with them," she suggested, he smiled, "Sounds like a plan," he stated as madam Simonè enters the class.
When their lesson had finished the boys woke up to speak to Rairakku and Luka, but they were intercepted by Venin and his gang. "Martel, where are you off to?" he asked, "To speak to my new friends before our hist sub comes in," Martel answered lazily as he walked past. Venin grabbed his wrist as he did, "New friends?" he asked, "Do you mean those losers at the back? Isn't it bad enough that you're friends with this nerd?" the pink haired boy of the group stated.
"Really Rosecelle? This is not first grade you know," Anthony replied with a roll of his eyes, "Exactly now you brats mind your own business and let us pass," Martel said and shook Venin's hand off and walked to Luka and Rairakku with Anthony close behind.
"Sorry we took a while," he said to his friends as he and Anthony came to their desk, "It's alright we all saw the roadblock," Luka responded with a wave of his hand. "Venin, Reine, Rosecelle and Sarcelle. They definitely are the greatest contributors to our classs bad rep," Anthony states, "Yeah, I have only been here a day and I can see why," Rairakku agrees.
"However, there is a chance of redemption, it happens a lot with these troupes," she added, the boys looked at her stunned. Anthony shook his head, "You have a point, there is always room for a switch," he agrees, Martel shrugs his shoulders. "I mean even Alice came to her senses after overcoming the brainwashing but then again some are as irredeemable as laughing coffin members," he says.
Luka and Anthony shook their heads at the references before Anthony decided to jump in with a Marvel one that came to mind. "Oh and like how the Bucky also overcame his brainwashing though he had already caused a rift between Cap and Stark. You think that will happen here Spidey?" he asked Rairakku. "I think you may be right. I mean the person could probably cause lasting damage. But not to our group," she stated with a shrug.
Their time together was interrupted by a monotonous yet cool voice (A/N: Umehara Yuchiro's voice, sorry about my description), "I apologise again madame Simonè, enjoy your next lesson," he said before entering the class. "Who's that?" "Where's Madame Lemaire?" the class asked each other as they studied the tall coffee skinned man. He was well-built with silver eyes hidden behind a pair of black rimmed glasses and short black hair. He wore black jeans and a slim fit white button up shirt with the sleeves rolled to his elbow revealing his tattoo sleeve.
His left hand held a few books to his chest while he held a travel coffee mug with the other and on his right shoulder was a tan leather satchel. "Ah, Good day everyone allow me to introduce myself," he said as he set down the mug and books, "I'm Professeur S. Chevalier and I am your new history teacher. I don't mind if you call me prof, sir or monsieur Chevalier," he introduced with a slight bow. "Professeur?" "He looks cool," "I hope he is better than the bore we had," "I thought she was our history teacher," "She was just a sub who acted like she had the job," the students mumbled.
Rairakku stood up amidst the mumbling catching everyones attention, "Pardon our rude greeting Professeur, good day to you," she said with a slight bow. "Yes, pardon us sir, good day," the boys said following suit, "We will head to our place now, sorry again for being impolite sir," Anthony said as he stood up.
"Thank you, what are your names? Ladies first please," he asked, ignoring the rest of the class's discussion. "Rairakku Hayashi sir," she introduced herself, "Luka Couffaine," Luka went next, "Anthony Bartholomew Bellamy, sir," Anthony stated enthusiastically and lastly was Martel who reverted to his flat tone, "Martel-Chevalier Aubert," he introduced lazily.
"Martel-Chevalier, I see you have part of my name, its a very respected surname," Professor Chevalier observed, before continuing, "Aubert are you perhaps related to monsieur Aubert, the History teacher before me?" he asked. "Yes, that's my grandfather," Martel replied, Chevalier nodded, "I see," he said and turned his attention to Rairakku. "Are you the class rep dear?" he asked, "No Professeur," she answered, "I see, who is the class rep?" he said to her before turning to the rest of the class once more.
"We have no rep," "We are the worst of the worst you know," a few students answered. "Let me guess, I see," Venin interrupted before Professor Chevalier could speak, "It does seem that, that is all he can say in response," Reine adds. "I don't understand why all he has done is just intro and ask us questions," Rosecelle states, "I wonder if he bought the title Professeur," Sarcelle adds.
Rairakku and her friends were about to say something when Professor Chevalier held up his hand, "Alright, first off I earned my qualification which is way more than I can say for you spoilt brats who have never earned a thing in your life," he stated monotonously. The group glared at him, "Second, I don't care whose kid you are, if you are disrespectful, you will be punished in one way or another. Okay bratties?" he asked meeting their glare with what could be described as an evil smile.
"Third, I would like to think of myself as a pretty fun guy even if my voice doesn't sound it. I don't care if youre labelled the worst class. You are my history class and that's all you are, so we will have fun together, if you overstep then our fun is restricted," he said to the rest of the class with a genuine smile. "So, what do you say to that kids?" he asked, the class looked at him sceptically for a moment.
"Let's get started prof," "Well only know if you start sir," the students said, and he nodded with a small smile. "Alright then, please pull down the blinds," he said as he took his laptop out of the leather satchel and connected it to the projector. "Woah, he's using the projector," "The teachers hardly use it," "Yeah, I've only seen madam Simonè use it," the class excitedly chatted while following his instructions. "Pay close attention we shall discuss and take notes afterwards," he states, "Yes Professeur," the class replied. "Good, let's begin," he said as he switched off the light and began their lesson with a remote click. their lesson with a remote click.
