A couple of months later, Camilla were sitting inside her office as she looked from the clock on the wall, down at the ancient text that was laying on the table in front of her. She looked back up at the clock with a worried look on her face, because she was no closer to understanding the meaning of the text then she was two months ago, and she was running out of time.
"It´s time kiddo" Jack said from where he stood in the doorway watching her.
Camilla turned towards Jack." Already?"
"They are about to begin dialing the gate at any moment." Jack said as he walked further into the room, he stopped in front of her desk and he could see the scared look on her face. Jack leaned on the table and took both of her hands into his.
"I´m scared, Jack." Camilla confessed.
"I know." Jack said as he squeezed her hands." Say after me."
"What?" She questioned.
"I´m Camilla Richard. A member of SG1 and I kick ass.
"Jack."
"Come one." Jack said as he put his hand behind his ear as he waited for her to say it out loud.
Camilla let out a deep breath before she said." I´m Camilla Richard. A member of the SG1 and i kick ass."
"That you do." A deep voice said.
Camilla turned towards the voice and a smile found it´s way onto her face as she saw Teal´c standing in the doorway with his arms behind his back.
"You made it." Camilla said with relife.
Teal´c bowed his head.
"I guess this is goodbye then?" Camilla said as she pushed her chair away from the desk for the last time, she bowed down to take her backpack off the floor. She smiled as she saw Daniel standing beside Teal´c.
"It´s never goodbye, you of all people should know that." Daniel told her.
Camilla let go of her backpack and she hurried towards Daniel, who stood with his arms wide open. She moved her arms around him and as Daniel pulled her close, she rested her head against his chest.
"Imos atopar no Atlantis." Daniel whispered.
"Imost atopar no Atlantis." She mumbled against his chest.
"Okay kids. Lets get this show on the road." Jack said, clapping his hand together before he walked out of the room and Teal´c followed after him.
Camilla pulled away from the hug and walked over to were she had left her backpack, but before she could grab it a hand had already lifted it off her floor. Camilla looked up at Daniel and sees him holding his hand out towards her, she smiled as she took his hand, They begin to walk towards the door, but Camilla stopped in the doorway and turned around to look at everything inside her office.
"It will still be here when you come back." Daniel told her before he pulled at her hand and they started to make their way towards the gate room.
You sure you want to do this?" Daniel asked her one last time as they came to a stop right outside the gate room.
"No." Camilla said as she looked up at Daniel." But i need to do this...You know that right?" She said.
"I know." Daniel said."
"What is it?" She questioned.
Daniel sighed before he answered her. "Why do i feel like I´m losing my best friend?"
"You will never lose me..." She paused before she continued to speak." We have been through worse thing and we always found a way back to each other, Right?"
"Right." He said as they stood there staring at each other
"I should go." She said with a sad smile.
"Be safe."
"Always." She said before she turned around and walked towards the gate room, she had only walked a few feet before she turned her head over her shoulder and she smiled as she saw Teal´c standing beside Daniel. She turned her head back around and took a deep breath before she walked into the gate room.
Camilla looked around the room and she spotted Major Sheppard standing by himself, she walked towards him, but stopped in her tracks, when she saw Sumner walking up behind him. A minutes or so later Sumner walked away but he stopped and turned back around to face Sheppard when she heard Sheppard saying it´s Doctor Weir, right?. Sumner quickly turned around and she saw a grim look on his face. She looked towards Sheppard and saw he was looking at her. Sheppard started to walk towards her, but he stopped when Elisabeths voice could be heard and everyone turned around to see her walking into the gate room, and she went to take her place on the ramp so she could see everyone.
"We´re about to try and make a connection, we have been unable to predict exactly how much power this is going to take, and he may only get this once chance at this. So if we´re able to achieve a stable wormhole, we´re not going to risk shutting the gate down. We´II send a malp probe, check for visiblity and go. Everything in one go." Elisabeth said as she looked towards Camilla before she continued.
"Now, everyone of you volunteered for this mission and you reprsent over a dozen countries. You´re the best and the brightest and in the light of the adventure we´re about to embark on, you´re also the bravest. I hope we will all return one day having discovered a whole new realm for humanity to explore. But as you all know, we might never be able to return.
Camilla turned around and looked up at the control room window, and she saw Daniel and Jack standing there looking down at her. She quickly turned her head back towards Elisabeth.
"I would like you offer you all one last chance to withdraw your participation." She said as she looked around the gate room, and she smiled when she did not hear a word.
"Begin the dialing sequence." She said as she walked down the ramp.
Camilla turned around and she made a sound in the back of her throath as she saw Bates walking towards her." Bates." She said as she crossed her arms as he came to a stop in front of her. They stood there staring at each other down, until they heard the sound of the gate starting to move.
"Just remember you wont have the General to protect you." He said before he pushed his shoulder against her as he walked past her.
"Don´t let him get to you lass." She heard a Scottish voice saying.
"Hey, doc." Camilla said as she turned around and hugged him, she smiled as she felt him hugging her back.
"So, are you ready?" She asked as they turned around just in time to see the MALP being send into the even horizon.
"No. Not really." Carson shook his head as he stared at the event horzion with fear written all over his face.
"You will be fine." Camilla said before she turned her head and looked up at the control room window, and when she sees Daniel walking towards the window giving her a thumbs up, she wonders if she had made the right decision about going.
All of her thoughts was forgotten when she heard Sumner call out." Let´s go people. We don´t know how much power we got. Security team 1 and 2, you´re up first." Sumner said as he walked up the ramp." All personal will follow on our signal. Once on the other side, keep moving, clear the debarktion area. On my lead."
"Hold on Colonel." Elisabeth said as she hurried into the gate room. she only stopped to put her backpack on and walked up to Sumner." We go through together."
Sumner seems to consider it before nodding his head. far enough." He said as he and the marines walked into the event horzion and disappard. Elisabeth turned towards Camilla and smiled before she turned around and walked into the event horzion.
Jack´s rings out a few second later." Expedition team, move out."
"Ready?" She asked as they waited for their turn.
"You already asked me this, and no. But do i not really have a choice, now do i?" He asked in a sardonic tone.
"No." She agrees as they start to move towards the gate." I could always drag there kicking and screaming."
"Of course ya would lass." Carson sighed as they get to the front of the gate.
"Is it going to hurt?" Carson questioned.
"Nope." She said as she push him into the event horzion before she herself walked into it and is dragged across the milky way to the Pegasus galaxy.
Somewhere far away, a voice could be heard throughout the galaxy as it grow stronger and stronger as it flooded through the air." She has returned." then it disappeard just as fast and the galaxy was once again left in silence as it waited.
Camilla stepped through one the other end of the event horzion, she quickly sees Carson standing there looking a little green as he tried to catch his breath.
"You okay doc?" She questioned.
"You pushed me!"
"No." Camilla said, shaking her head." I gave you a friendly shove."
"Everyone else, find an open space and park it until told otherwise." Sumner barks at the arriving expedition members.
Camilla and Carson starts towards the staircase, that was across from the stargate. As the start to walk up the stairs, they begin to light up for them.
"Who´s doing that?" Elisabeth asked.
Sumner coms out." Security teams, any alien contact?"
Camilla and Carson reach the top of the stairs and Carson hurried towards Elisabeth, but as Camilla moved to follow him, she sees a control room light up. She turned to look into the room, seeing nothing but covered consoles. She turned back around only to find Shepard standing right behind her.
"Major Sheppard."
"Camilla."
"The light are coming on by themselves." She said.
"I noticed that."
They stand there staring at each other for a few second before Camilla quickly walked past him and walked into th econtrol room, she sees Rodney lifting up the shiny, gauze material that was covering one of the consoles.
"General O´Niell, Atlantis base offers greeting from the Pegasus galaxy. You may cut the power to the gate." Elisabeth said into the radio. A few seconds later, a bottle of champagne rolls through the gate and it´s shuts of, leaving the room in darkness.
Rodney looked up to see the gate shut down before he moved on to another console and pulled the cover off it as well. As he pulls off the last cover, he rolled his eyes as he heard Sheppard saying." I didn´t touch anything."
"Relax, major." Elisabeth reassure him." It´s like the entire complex is sensing our presence and coming to life."
Rodney turned back to the console he had just uncovered." This is the control room, and this is obviously their version of a DHD."
Camilla comes up behind him and looked over his shoulder."Yeah, obviosuly."
Rodney ignored her as he turned around to the console behind and to the left of him." And this one could be the power control system. Possibly a computer interface or something!"
"Hey, hey." Elisabeth said, stopping Rodney before he can start on a tangent." Why don´t you find out?"
Rodney looked up from where he has bent down to study the console." Oh, right."
Over the radio Sumner started to talk." Doctor weir. Colonel Sumner. Can you and Sheppard come meet me? I´m three levels down. Oh, and you might bring Richard´s as well.
"Right away." Elisabeth responds." Elisabeth turned to Sheppard, then Camilla and then she walked out.
John turned towards Camilla." Are you okay?" He questioned as her sees looking a little pale.
"Yeah."
"You sure?" He asked as he stopped in front of her.
"Yeah. I just..." She stopped talking when John took her by the chin and lifted her head up." You´re not fine." John told her when he heard a groan coming from her." Doc." john called out.
"What´s wrong?" Carson asked as he walked up behind them.
"She´s not feeling well." John said as he kept his eyes on her." Check her out." He said before he turned and walked out of the room.
"You feeling on well, lass?" Carson asked.
"No. Major Sheppard is worring about nothing." Camilla said.
"You sure about that?" He questioned.
"I´m fine." She told him.
"If you say so." Carson as he turned and walked back the way he came.
"Oh, my god." Camilla heard Rodney said and she turned towards him as she said. "What is it?"
Rodney turned towards Camilla with widened eyes." We´re underwater." He said as he pointed his finger at the labtop in front of him.
"We´re what?" Camilla asked as she walked up behind him to look at the labtop.
"We´re underwater. There appears to be a force field of some kind protecting the city from being flooded." Rodney said.
"We need to tell Elisabeth." Camilla said.
"Yeah, yeah. You´re right." Rodney as he stood, and turned towards a young man that stood behind them." Peter, continue to find out more about the city. If you find something, tell me."
"Come on." Camilla said as she turned around to look for Carson." Where did he go?" She questioned.
"Who knows." Rodney said walking past her, Camilla hurried after him, and as they passed on their way, the hard Carson call out for them. Camilla turned towards Carson." You can´t just walk off on your own."
"If you see Elisabeth. Tell her i found something she needs to see." Carson said.
"Can do." Rodney said as he continued on his way."
"Damnit." Camilla said as she hurried after Rodney." Don´t go anywhere else, Doc!" Camilla shouted over her shoulder.
They arrived a few minutes later and they find John, Elisabeth and Sumner staring out of the window that stretches the lenght of the wall.
"Colonel, Doctor Weir!" Rodney called out to get their attention.
John turned around to look at them and he said." We´re underwater."
"Yeah." Camilla nodded her head as she walked closer." We were just coming to tell you that. It..." Before Camilla could say anything else she was cut of by Rodney.
"There appears to be some sort of force field holding back the..." Rodney´s attention it caught by the view of the city outside the window.
John moved to the side so Camilla could take his place by the window." Wow." She said as she saw the submerged city was huge." That´s empressive."
"It is, isn´t it." Rodney said as he stared a littel longer before he turned towards Elisabeth." Uh, Doctore Beckett has found something, he thinks you need to see."
Rodney and Camilla leade the grupe to the room they had found him in. Carson was standing behind a podium on the other side of the room. In the center is a glowing figur. It appears to be a woman.
"In hope of speading new life in a galaxy where there appeared to be none. Soon new life grew and prospered." She said as the group walked further into the room.
"It´s a hologram." Carson told them as he continued to watch it." The recording is on a loop. This is my second time watching it."
Sumner looked over the hologram in contemplation." Have we missed anything?"
"No not much." Carson said.
"Exchange knowledge and friendship." Over their heads a hologram map of the galaxy they were in appears." In time, thousand worlds bore the fruit of life in this form, Then one day, our people set foot upon a dark world where a terrible enemy slept. Never before had we encounted begings with power that rivaled our own. In our overconfidence , we were unprepard and outnumbered. The enemy fed uopn the denfenseless human world like a great scourge." The stars above their heads begin to slowly turned red from left to right until all of them are convered." Until only Atlantis remained. This city´s great shield was powerful enough to withstand their weapons, but we were besieged for many years, In an effort to save the last of our kind, we submerged our great city into the ocean. The Atlantis stargate was the one and only link back to earth from this galaxy and those of us remained used it to return to the world, which was once home. There the last survivors of Atlantis lived out the remainder of their lives, and this city was left to slumber in the hope that our kind would one day return."
The hologram stopped talking and Carson stepped away from the podium. Rodney started at where the hologram had been." Huh, so the story about Atlantis is true. The great city that sank into the ocean."
"It just didn´t happen on earth." Carson said.
"The Greeks must have heard it from one of the surviving ancients." Camilla said.
Sumner started to talk about the issue with what they had heard. Peter walked into the room and headed straight towards Rodney. he leans in and whispered into his ear.
"From the begining." Carson said as he stepped up to the podium activting the hologram.
"Stop!" Rodney shouted with wide eyes." Turn it off!"
Carson stepped away, the hologram vanished as he dose, and they all turned towards Rodney.
"The power levels throughout the city are dropping like a stone."Rodney explains as he starts to leave the room.
"What dose that means?" Sumner questioned.
"It means that if we don´t stop everything we´re doing right now, we´re dead." Rodney said he leaves the room.
Camilla was about to leave the room, when all of the sudden she heard a name being called out, and she quickly turned back towards where the hologram had been. She shook her head, and she was about to turn back around when a hand grabbed hold of her wrist. She looked up to see another woman standing there looking at her with a worried look on her face.
"Who...Who are you?" Camilla questioned.
"You´re in danger." The woman said.
"Danger from what?"
"You should never have come here Eartha." The woman said before she vanished.
