The Freedom Fight Saga Episode 11: Feral Forest Assault

Flashback:

Sometime ago, at New Mobotropolis HQ, Mina Mongoose walks inside the HQ to see a certain friend of theirs. However, Mina feels a bit sad while doing so.

Mina says to herself, "I hope Nicole is alright. Sally said that she's been acting a little stage lately, and noticed how depressed she is, and today, she hasn't left HQ today. And she suspects it has to do with Eve." Then says, "It's hard to believe what she told me. Eve has been somewhat roboticized."

Mina shakes the troubling thought, "No sense in feeling glum about it, Eve is still kicking, and you're here to help Nicole."

She soon walks inside Freedom HQ.

Once inside, Mina calls out, "Nicole, are you in here? It's Mina Mongoose. Are you… uh… home?"

Soon, the Freedom HQ turns on, and words appear in Nicole's voice, "I am here. I am where I can… collect my thoughts. Sadly, I don't fully feel like talking."

Mina sadly sighs, "It's about Eve, isn't it? Sally told me what happened to her, and how you've suspected you've been feeling down the past few days, even though you seem to act calm."

"I see…" Nicole says on the computer. "I feel that I've failed Eve in a way."

"Failed Eve?" Mina questions. "What do you mean?"

Nicole continues typing and talking, without revealing her face, "I failed my friend. I couldn't come up with another way to stop the Death Egg. Eve had to make a noble sacrifice, and it cost her her arm. If I was able to find another way to stop the Death Egg, Eve wouldn't have been partly robotcized and her immunity wouldn't be broken. I feel that it was my fault, even if Eve made the choice to go through it"

"I guess you felt really bad about it, huh?" Mina replies.

"Yes," Nicole answers on the screen.

"But Nicole, all this happened under Sonic, Sally, and everyone's watch, too. And like you said, Eve chooses to protect everyone over protecting herself. And even when she is partly roboticized, neither she, nor Sonic quit. They're still leading part of the Freedom Fighters out of the city now! Sally, Rotor, and the rest are doing what they can in the city! And well…" Mina explains, and lowers her head in sadness, "I know what it's like to feel that you failed, that you feel like you could do more, but unable to."

"Really?" Nicole asks.

"I remember the time I felt like I've failed as a Freedom Fighter. I froze up and almost got myself killed once… but Sonic and Eve helped me with that. And at the end I moved on to be a singer to inspire people," Mina says.

Then turns to Nicole, "So you see, despite the hardship we've gone through not just now, but over the years, we're doing our part to help others, to fight, sing, and well anything. And I'm sure Eve and the others don't blame you for what happened. I know what happened was bad, but you can't keep thinking it was your fault, you did the best you could. And I'm sure Eve and the others know it. Please Nicole, talk to me."

Soon, Nicole digitizes herself from the computer.

Mina smiles, "Hey Nicole."

"Hi Mina, it's good to see you again," Nicole says.

"Me too. How are you feeling?" Mina replies.

"I feel a bit better now. And you're right. I can't keep blaming myself for what happened, and I can only do the best I can," Nicole says.

"I'm glad to hear it," Mina says.

Then the two girls hug.

Mina smiles, "I'm glad you're feeling better now."

"Me too. No more doubting or hiding," Nicole says.

Then Mina has an idea, "You're the best, Nicole! I can work on a new set of songs right now. And one of them I'm sure will help lift your spirits."

Nicole giggles, "Thank you. I look forward to hearing it… I suppose part of developing emotions is learning to cope with them as well."

"Yeah. And I'm glad you're feeling a lot better, and no longer hiding in the computer," Mina says.

"Yes. I need to move forward, and do my best to help my friends," Nicole says.

Suddenly, someone says, "I'm glad to hear you say that."

The girls turn their heads to see Harvey Who, walking into Freedom HQ, "Please forgive the intrusion, ladies. Eavesdropping is my trade. And I need Ms. Nicole's assistance for… a certain project of mine."

Flashback Ends:

Time has passed, and Sonic, Eve, Jazz, Tails, and Amy have reached the Feral Forest on the Tornado. And soon enough, Dr. Eggman's Death Egg is already starting to attack.

Amy calls out, "Death Egg Dead Ahead!"

"Sit still, Doc! We'll wrap this up once and for all!" Sonic calls out.

"I doubt Eggman can hear us, Sonic," Eve says.

Soon as he drops the objects down to the Feral Forest, the Death Egg begins to take its leave.

"That's it? He drops a small invasion force and leaves?" Amy questions.

"Hey! What part of 'Sit Still' don't you get?" Sonic calls out.

"I wonder where Eggman is going?" Eve wonders.

"Chao Chao," Jazz replies.

Tails turns to his robotic pup, "T-Pup."
T-Pup barks and shows a holographic map before Tails to see the direction of the Death Egg.

"At its current trajectory, it looks like he'll be attacking New Mobotropolis again," Tails says.

"And we just finished with the repairs from the last attack," Eve says, annoyed.

Tails turns to Sonic and Eve, "Do you want me to keep following him?"

"No way!" Sonic answers, "We're in charge of stopping Eggman's nonsense. The folks down there need us. Rotor and the others will handle things back home."

Then says to Tails, "So put the Tornado in an auto-piolet holding pattern and let's do it!" Sonic says.

"You got it!" Tails says, and sets the Tornado on Auto-pilot.

Then Sonic says, "All right! Freedom Fighters! Let's show 'em how it's done!"

"C'mon, T-pup!" Tails says.

With that, the Freedom Fighters jump down from the Tornado in the air, and land in the center of the village where Eggman's robots are attacking, and see Mecha Sally commanding the attack.

"There's Mecha Sally!" Eve says.

"Looks like she's commanding the invasion!" Tails says.

"Yeah, but why? Feral Forest isn't exactly a cultural hub, y'know?" Sonic says.

"No, but knowing Eggman, he has a reason for being here," Eve says.

"You're right, but the question is, what?" Amy says.

"Either way, we can't sit here and allow Eggman's robots to attack. Let's go," Sonic says.

And with that, the Freedom Fighters charge to attack Eggman robots before they destroy the village and kidnap anyone living there.

First Sonic speeds to Mecha Sally, "Hey Mecha Sal, you got a minute to rumble."

"Later," Mecha Sally answers.

Then says, "Silver Sonic… engage."

And soon enough, Silver Sonic wrecks some of the houses to attack Sonic. Sonic quickly dodges the attack. Sonic and Silver Sonic grab each other's hands and fight with one another.

"Hrrgh!" Sonic says, gritting his teeth, "Welcome to the 'Robot Sonics getting rebuilt all the time club,' I guess…"

Sonic then loses the robot's grip and jumps over it.

"Sonic!" Eve calls out.

Sonic turns to see Eve and the others, calls out, "I'll handle the jolly gray giant! You guys stop that robot before it causes some damage." As Mecha Sally approaches one of the houses.

Inside the very house are Elias along with a few others who are keeping him hidden. One of them is the former Colonel George Smmersby.

One of the villagers looks out the window, "It looks like that Sonic fella and his sister and friends showed up to fight the robots, but one's heading for the house."

"Fine by me," A bit of practice before I leave for my… assignment," Elias says.

"Yes, it's been a while since I've enjoyed a good round of fisticuffs," George says. "I do wish you'd include me in your greater plans, site."

"I appreciate the offer, Colonel, but I need to travel light. Director Who has everything under control," Elias says.

"The old bird, eh?" George says, "That tells me plenty."

Then Elias turns to George's wife Martha and says, "Try to get as many villagers as you can to the shelter. I'll have to take my leave soon."

"Of course, but make sure you don't get hurt from those robots," Martha says.

Elias nods his head.

Soon Leeta Wolf and Larry the Lynx appear.

"Good… you've gotten the 'goodbyes' out of the way. Let's move," Leeta says.

Elias narrows his eyes, "Who sent you?"

"Exactly," Leeta says, "Agent Queen of Diamonds here for extractions."

"I see, so Director Who sent you?" Elias questions.

"That's right," Leeta says.

Then Elias says, "I'm sorry, but I'm needed here now."

"No, you're needed to lead your team to save your country," Leeta says.

"Feral Forest is under attack! I'm needed here now!" Elias argues.

But Leeta argues, "You're needed in many places, but you go where you're needed most. If the situation goes unchecked, a few robots will be the least of our worries."

Then George says, "Go, son. Martha and I lived to keep you safe. I will not leave that post."

Soon Elias accepts, "Lead the way, Agent Queen." Then turns to George, "Colonel Sommersny, I leave it to you."

"Jolly good, sire," Colonel Sommersby says, and ready to fight.

Larry jumps out the window first. Then Elias, but suddenly, Tails rushes over and ends up seeing them.

Much to Tails's shock, "Elias!"

"Tails!" Elias says, shocked.

"Whoops… just my luck…" Larry replies, dismayed.

And soon Leeta begins to climb out for Tails to see.

Tails recognizes them, "Larry? Leeta? What are you doing here? What's with the uniforms?"

"Well, uh, see…" Larry nervously says.

Elias then kneels to Tails, "Listen. I can't explain right now. I might never be able to. But for the good of my family - for all of New Mobotropolis - you have to forget you saw us here."

Elias and Tails firmly stare at each other.

Tails rushes off as he says, "I'll cover for you. Get going."

Elias nods his head and hurries off with Leeta and Larry.

Meanwhile, Mecha Sally tears her way through the house with her own blades. Soon Colonel swings his fist at Mecha Sally, luckily he's been told in advance that Mecha Sally is not the real Sally, so he has no trouble attacking as the others escape from the house. Mecha Sally then grabs the Colonel and throws him across the room. Soon, Amy and Eve charge towards Mecha Sally.

"You're not hurting anyone else today!" Amy says.

Soon, Amy and Eve attack Mecha Sally. Eve and Mecha Sally collide their weapons at one another as Amy slams her hammer at it.

Eve continues to fight the Mecha Sally with her sword, "Gotta admit, you're almost as good as Sally."

Then Amy slams her hammer at it, "But not good enough."

"I am more efficient than the original Sally," Mecha Sally says.

"You wish!" Eve says and spin dashes Mecha Sally.

"Yeah. And you're not even close to us. We're here to help our friends," Amy says.

"We were never fri-" Mecha Sally says, before being spin dashed by Tails.

"Is she trying to imitate us or what?" Eve questions.

"Either way, let's not listen to that thing. That's Eggman's programming talking, not our Sally," Tails says.

"Yeah. Sally would never say something like that," Amy says.

Eve rushes to the Colonel and asks, "Are you alright."

"I'm okay… but what about…?" Colonel answers, weakened from the attack.

Tails says, "Your wife and the villagers made it out the back, but they need your help. We'll cover you!"

"Understood," the Colonel says, struggling to stand up, "Thank you."

Colonel struggles to get up, but manages to gain his strength and quickly leaves to help his wife and the villagers. Soon, Tails, Eve, and Amy are the only ones left.

"Alright Mecha Sally, it's just the four of us," Eve says.

"No more distractions!" Tails says.

"We're going to turn you into scrap metal," Amy says.

But then, Mecha Sally then fires some kind of laser from the top of her head. That fires through one house and blasts another, frightening everyone into running away.

"Correction. There are numerous villagers hiding in their flammable homes. These are many distractions," Mecha Sally says.

"Smartallic," Eve mutters, gritting her teeth.

Amy raises her hammer in anger, "Why, you-!" and prepares to attack Mehca Sally.

When she swings her hammer, Mecha Sally grabs it, and then fires her laser again at one of the houses.

"No!" Amy cries out and turns her head to see the people running out and being surrounded by the robots.

Eve says, "Tails! Amy! Take her down before she burns the whole village! I'm going to help these people!"

Eve then speeds out of the house to help the people from the robots. Mecha Sally flies out as well.

"She's getting away!" Tails cries out.

Amy calls out, "Sonic! We could use your speed right about now!"

Meanwhile, Sonic ends up getting punched through the wall of the house by Silver Sonic where two young children are.

Sonic stands and dusts himself, "Eve, Amy, Tails… I could use some back-up right about now."

He then notices the kids, "Oh! Hey there! Sorry! About your wall!"

"Th-that's… uh…" The boy replies, "Are you okay?"

"Me? Sure!" Sonic answers, "I've got everything under control!"

Then Sonic spin dashes at Silver Sonic just outside. Then dashes off.

He also calls out, "Nice to meet you! I'll swing back by once I take care of your badnik infestation."

As he dashes off, Silver Sonic begins to spin dash towards Sonic and destroys the homes in sight in the process.

Sonic notices, "Y'know, it's hard to rescue villagers with you on my back." Then looks ahead to see Eve fighting off the Badniks and trying to save the villagers, "Although…" And calls out, "One side! Comin' through! Hot stuff! Watch it! Yo Sis, Blue Bro coming through!"

Eve turns to see Sonic spin dashes towards her, the villagers, and the badniks, with Silver Sonic on his tail. Eve quickly moves out of the way, and allows Silver Sonic to spin dash and destroy the badniks.

Sonic then jumps over it as he says, "That's better! Thanks, gruesome!" and lands back on his feet, "Now-back to the problem of you." as Silver Sonic uncurls itself.

Just then, T-Pup rushes over with a GRR! BARK BARK!" and past Sonic.

"Uh… T-pup? Sonic replies, confused, "This one's out of your weight class, little dude!"

However, little T-Pup has a plan. He opens some strange compartment with a rode from on top of his back as he runs under Silver Sonic. Then sends up electric currents, tapping him in place.

"Nice!" Sonic says, impressed.

Then calls out to the robotic pup, "Keep it in stasis, T-pup! I'll be back as soon as I can!"

"BARK!" T-Pup replies, and continues to do his part.

Meanwhile, Amy is still fighting Mecha Sally.

"Stop blowing up homes!" Amy shouts and swings her hammer.

"Stop delaying my objective," Mecha Sally says.

Then Eve spin dashes Mecha Sally, "I consider your objective to be changed."

Amy turns to see two more Badniks behind her and quickly dodge before they fire their lasers.

Seeing what's happening, Mecha Sally says, "Divergence from time-table is unacceptable. Egg Swats, converge my location."

While Tails and the others are distracted by the Egg Swat Mecha Sally walks into the house Elias has just been in, but notices his lack of presence.

"Target lost," Mecha Sally says. "Warning: Ground forces down to ten percent."

Sonic dodges one of the Egg Swats and kicks it with his foot.

With a smirk, Sonic asks, "Miss me?"

"It's about time you showed up! Amy says, and slams her hammer at the Swat Egg, "What happened to Silver Sonic?"

"Eh, he's not so tough. T-pip is handling it," Sonic answers.

"T-pup?!" Amy questions in surprise.

Turns out, while T-pup electrocuted and petrified Silver Sonic, the villagers are using the ropes to hold it down.

Soon, Eve and Tails arrive on the scene.

"Yo, Tails! Sis! Any good news from up there?" Sonic asks.

"Yup! Looks like the villagers militia has organized… and they're covering the evacuees," Tails says.

"Cool," Sonic says.

Colonel Sommersby and the other villagers are stopping the Egg Swat as well.

Colonel Sommersby calls out, "That's it, fellows! Give them what for!"

Then they notice Mecha Sally walking out of the house.

"Soo all that's left is getting you to finally play nice," Sonic says.

"Yeah, you're outnumbered, so quit while you're behind," Eve says.

Just then, Mecha Sally says, "Primary and secondary objectives failed. Returning to Death Egg for assignment."

Then Mecha Sally flies past them and makes her escape.

"Hey!" Eve calls out.

"She's getting away!" Sonic says.

Then Eve says, "Wwe still got Eggman's Egg Swatto deal with. Not to mention the village is burning."

"You're right, sis. The villagers need us," Sonic says.

Then calls out, "Amy! Keep smashin' Swats! Tails! Find us some buckets and a well so we can put out the fires!"

Then Sonic and Eve speed off as the others head off in different directions.

Eve smiles at Sonic, "You know, I'm proud of you."

"How so?" Sonic asks.

"You're about to think about the situation before acting on it," Eve says.

"What do you mean? I'm always thinking ahead," Sonic says.

"Not really. You're usually pounding first and asking questions later," Eve says.

"Very funny," Sonic replies, rolling his eyes.

Soon after, the village has been saved, the fire is out, and the Badniks have been defeated. Soon, Sonic and Eve are with Colonel Sommersby.

"Man, I shouldn't have let Silver Sonic sidetrack me for so long. This place is a mess," Sonic says.

"It could've been much worse, ol' chap. We can even salvage the empty egg pods for materials," Colonel Sommersby says.

"I guess that's something good came out of it," Eve sheepishly says.

"Yeah, and thank Eggman for the nice metal roofing tiles," Sonic replies.

"Do you have any idea why Eggman sent his robots here, besides wrecking everything here?" Eve asks.

"And kidnapping villagers?" Amy questions.

"Hmm, it's possible because he got wind Elias was here," Sommersby says.

"Elias? What's he doing here?" Eve asks, confused.

"Is he alright?" Sonic asks.

"He's doing okay. However, his majesty is not seeing anyone presently. All I can let you know is that he managed to escape safely," Colonel Sommersby says.

"That's good to hear," Eve says.

"I agree. It will be best if we get going and follow the Death Egg to New Mobotropolis," Tails says.

"Good idea," Sonic says.

Meanwhile in a hover vehicle, Elias, Leeta, and Larry are heading to their destination.

However, "Oh no…" Elias replies. "That's why Eggman attacked the forest… with Sonic and Eve away, New Mobotropolis will be destroyed!"

And see Dr. Eggman's Death Egg is over New Mobotropolis and ready to attack.

In New Mobotropolis, the rest of the Freedom Fighters are inside and ready for Eggman's next attack.

"Brace yourselves, Freedom Fighters! This is what we're here for!" Rotor says.
