Alone in the Ship

by TheIronSoldier

Ace D. Portgas hated Christmas.

Ace didn't give two shits about it for a time meant to be for families. What Family did he even have left?

His Biological ones?

His mother died having him, and his bastard of a Father left his reign over his life, preventing Ace from even walking outside without the risk of someone realizing who his shitty dad was. Instead of taking the name of Roger… he took the ones from his mother, the one who truly loved him.

His "Brothers"?

Luffy was alright; a little stupid and too much of a Jackass, but he was okay in some ways. Ace loved him, but Luffy did some stupid shit back when they were kids, like getting kidnapped to protect him and… Sabo…

…Ace didn't want to think about Sabo right now. Ace still had nightmares about his death sometimes. He was just suddenly… gone, Ace didn't even get to say goodbye to his best friend.

All that was left was a Young adult who just didn't have anyone on the winter nights.

Suddenly, his thoughts were overtaken by a piercing cold creeping on his skin, the Cold wind hitting him, shanking his head; he really hated the Weather in the New World.

Grand Line weather being random be Damned. It seems like when it nears the month, all the New World weather suddenly goes cold and doesn't change for shit. Snow, Sleet, and the Blizzard from yesterday had recently gone by; all influenced his other hatred for the holiday.

The cold.

What the hell was that even about anyway?

Groaning, he got back up from his makeshift bed and made to go close the window. Ace could use his Flame powers to close it, but he didn't want to burn down the ship with him. As Ace closed it, the cold winds stopped.

Ace still remembered how he got on the ship in the first place… this was Whitebeards, the Emperor of the Seas' Moby Dick.

It was an easy plan! Sort of…

When he left the current Hellscape that was Wano, He made a personal Vow to Kill whitebeard; after his death, Kaido was next.

What he saw in Wano scarred him… probably just as much as Sabo's fate. All those people… killed over a rebellious child who ran away. He swore the area he landed on… (Onishigama was it? Ace didn't remember names for the life of him.) it was terraformed to the point of being unrecognizable. Glass replaced sand, Ash with wood, and melted stone, all littered what remained of the territory.

A ruthless tyrant killed the blood of the People who once lived here. Of Course, Ace reacted in a way to piss him off.

In total honesty… Ace didn't know how he and his Crew escaped with their lives. It was so quick… If that winged bastard hadn't ambushed him, Ace was sure he could handle him one to one…, maybe. Deuce gave him shit for it, but Ace needed his pride, damn it!

Then! They landed on Whitebeard Territory! What were the Damn odds!

*Knock*

Ace took his thoughts out of his head when the door knocked. He made to open it, but before he could, the door opened, and Ace's mood soured more.

Izuku Midoriya. The bastard who got lucky fighting him.

"What do you want, brat." Izuku's smile dampened at the Older teen's words, but he shook it off with a shake of the head.

"Hey, Ace-san!" the kid said. "Thatch-Sama told me to get you for that party Whitey Bay's throwing!"

Oh. Yeah, if Ace was being honest… he forgot all about that little party thing. It was nice that the asshole who beat him was reminding him about something he forgot.

This Izuku kid somehow gained Favor from Whitey after he saved her home nation after the Finalem brothers attacked it. Apparently, he didn't even have Armament Haki, and he still crushed his opponents, despite them being Logias!

It was probably because of the bullshit powers he pulled out of his ass when Ace went to town on him. The Kid could fly, Blow people up, Punch really hard, and much more things that riled him up.

He actually got the upper hand in the fight, and just before he was about to win, his Friend bypassed his Observation and jumped him.
That Kanabo still hits hard.

His thoughts came back to the kid in front of him, just before he went on a whole tangent and lost focus. "Fine." He said, moving towards the entrance, But before he could leave, he turned around. "But you owe me a Rematch kid. This time? No cheating."

Ace left the room in a huff, Izuku looked on at the retreating teen and pondered on what made him so mad…

Thatch said something about him being pissed at losing.

Izuku however… he thought something different. Ace didn't have the best life did he?

"Ace-san…" he muttered. "Don't worry."

"I'll be the best hero you can see."

And within the stars, one passed as the words passed though his mouth.

Shining brighter than all of the rest.

A promise was made.

Izuku was going to try and Cheer him up. He didn't know when, but he'd try his best.
