A Visitor to the Frozen Den

By Zaru

There was a sense of contentment living in the isolation of the storm. The winds remained the same, making one lose one's track of time.

All while she slept, hibernating in the eye of one of the largest constant storms in the world. A storm of her own making.

It was better this way. Despite Izuku and the other's pleadings... how can she become a hero to save others, when she has wrought so much death.

Wano, the land she wanted to protect in the name of her idol... was now a frozen wasteland, covered in snow, only the hardiest of creatures would thrive.

She could sense the faintest traces of humanity flickering here and there, by the range of her Observation and the Danger Sense ability she wielded. But they were scant and few. Nomadic. A far cry from the bustling provinces teeming with people and natural fauna. They seemed to be closer to Mt. Fuji, the only source of warmth in this winter-lashed hell.

Days seemed to pass by. Then weeks.

The Marines stopped coming, then again, few would dare try to enter here. The storms outside, the giant moving glaciers crashing against the spires below, and the Koi that only seemed to grow in desperation trying to enter the breeding grounds closest to Wano's shore made entering the plateau all but impossible.

How can she be a hero, when all she has wrought is the biting cold.

...

Someone was here. Someone she did not know of.

The great beast opened her eyes, and the massive wolf turned from her lying down position, seeing someone had... landed in the middle of her open chamber.

And denting the ice, was a massive paw print, with a boy bundled up in heavy thick clothing for a winter. And upon his back, held by a string around his neck, was a simple straw hat.

He got back up, groaning. "Gnnngh... where the heck am I?" He muttered, still facing away from the great beast. "Oh man, it's full of snow in here! More than there was at Sabaody, or even back home in Foosha too! Oooooh, and a lot of ice too!" He stretched, moving about in the snow, the beast growing irritated. "Crap, I need to find a way back to Sabaody too. but finding an icebreaker is gonna be tough... I told everyone we would regroup there in two days. Crap I may have misjudged... maybe I should have said a week before that Paw Bastard swiped at me and-"

"Who are you." The beast asked, and the boy turned, and she can see his black hair as he looked at her, not with fear but curiosity.

"Hmmm? Oh wow! You can talk! A giant talking wolf!" The boy's eyes seemed to glimmer with joy. "So cool!"

"Answer me." She growled, barring her fangs.

"Hehe, okay okay, you wanna know who I am?" The boy asked, putting his straw hat on, looking up at her with an eased grin. And the beast... felt something as she saw the confidence within this youth.

"I'm Monkey D. Luffy, and I'm the man whose gonna be the King of the Pirates!"
