Chapter 4

"That is a wise choice Josh. Her daughter will never find someone here to marry because they know she is not a maiden any more. Her mother is mad but does not try to stop her but lets her do as she please hoping that if she becomes with child it is with a rich man's child and he must take her as his wife or care for her and the child. So you are wise to stay away from her. I will point her out to you later young man, so that you can stay away from her and be warned she will seek you out at the hope that you will fall for her," said Mr. Green. "She even has tried to get me to fall for her and she is only 17 while I am 25, she is the only girl that does not care what others think of her. The older women in town do not like me so that the women that I could marry will not even look my way, all because of my family's name and the story of my aunt," said Mark. "Well that is a shame; you seem to be a nice young man. Well as much as I wish, we could talk more, but we need to start unloading the wagon and moving in to our new home," said Father. He is right and I think Maria wishes that Mark well stay and help.

"Well since we are already here we might as well help," said Mr. Green. Mr. Beast looks at Mark and says, "Go tell you brother to come and help as well and let Mary know we might be late coming to supper." Mark laughs at this and says, "Yes sir, Aunt Mary is not going to like that we are late for supper. I will be back to help as fast as I can." With that, he mounted his horse and galloped off into town. "Well might as well get started, the sun will not last all day," said Mr. Green. "Right let's get started then," agreed Father. We had been working for over half an hour when Mark returned bringing news and some help his cousin Ginny. "Aunt Mary said she understands and will forgive us if and only if we bring the new family to eat supper with us when we come or don't come at all," he was holding back his laughter while saying this. "Hey do not laugh at my mom Markey boy," said Ginny. "Markey boy? Why did she call you that Mark?" asked Alanna. "Alanna that was not polite. Now say you're sorry," said Father. "Sorry Mark, I did not intend to be rude," said Alanna; Father has been trying to teach her manners for so long that I am starting to think he might fail at doing so. "It was nothing. She calls me that because of Aunt Sybil would call me that if I did not listen; she knows I do not like the nickname at all, so she calls me it if I make her mad."

With that, we got back to work. I had been working in one of the rooms putting the bed in the place that Amy wanted it when Ginny came to talk and Maria came to see if I was done so that I can help her. "So do you plan on moving bake to the city? How was life in the city? Was if grand, was it fun, and were there many parties?" asked Ginny. "No I do not plan on moving back to the city. Yes, it was grand but not much fun. There were parties but I did not go to them, it you want details of the parties Amy, Maria, and Alanna will be better to ask. See I studied most of the time so I did not go to parties or any of the gatherings that were important to have a great knowledge of the cities fun times and who to talk too to be invited to the fun parties."

"Josh is not much of a social person, Ginny. While we went to parties he stayed home and studied and played the piano," said Maria. "Wow, well I will let my friends know that you do not want to move to the city and they will not flirt with you just to try and get you to take them to the city," said Ginny. "Do all of the girls here want to move to the city?" I asked. "Well yes, we want to see more than this town. The only way for us to see anywhere is if we marry someone that will take us with them on their travels. So you see many girls here are praying that you will be the one to take them from this small town to a city by the sea like the one you just moved from. I was only going to flirt with you if you were moving back one day but since you do not intend to move back then you have no reason for me to be a flirt. Well maybe if your skin clears up and you get some muscle then you might be flirt worthy. So maybe in a few months you will be a good looking strong man then will you have to worry about girls flirting with you," with that she walk out and Maria is laughing at my face. I am shocked that the girls here are not happy with their life here that they would flirt with a guy just to try to move from here. I do not even think that if my skin clears up and I get some muscle I will not have to worry about the girls flirting with me. "You should see your face Josh it looks like you were just slapped and you cannot believe it," laughed Maria, my loving sister.

At this Mr. Green calls up stairs "Hey it is time to head out we do not want to be too late you do not want to come back to late at night now do you." He has a point I do not want to walk back in the dark not since I will have to find a place to stable Twilight Queen for the night. I still have to find out where I can stable her for the night. Maria is still laughing when we get down stairs and Amy asks, "Why are you laughing did Josh tell a joke and I missed it or did he say something dumb and I miss it?" Wow, my sisters are so friendly. "No Ginny just said he did not have to worry about her or her friends flirting with him right now not since he has no plans to move back to the city. He does not have to worry till his face clears and he gains some muscle," Maria is still laughing.

"Well you will gain muscle working for me that is if you want to be a carpenter or blacksmith. I own the best store in the town but I do not do much business from within town. My aunt's story has something to do with it. I will tell the story after supper. Mary will kill us if we made you any later by telling a story that she knows is true. She was one of the servant girls that left with my Mother and Father, but was later freed so she could have stayed with her friends," said Mr. Beast. So Ms. Mary was a servant girl that worked for his family.
