Chapter10

It took me two days to get to the next town and found out that the sheriff was a young man around my age he just turned 22 and I have been 22 for just a month longer than he has been. So I tell him what has happened back in Blue Lake. "So the new sheriff has tried to rape four of your seven sisters. Will I can come and help you see my Father is still is sheriff here and he can go and take the spot of sheriff in Blue Lake. I will come right now, we can be there in two days, and if you do not mind helping me move latter on since, I will need to move to Blue Lake," said Billy. Billy Miller was a good man and he even let me stay with him and his family, he was one of four sons and had two sisters younger than us. "Billy you do not have a place to stay in Blue Lake. Where are you going to sleep at the jail with the crooks?" ask his Mother.

"If he needs a place to stay he can use one of the empty rooms at my place. See my Father remarried and he and my little sister moved out and into the house that our new mother has, see there was room for them but not me and I did not wish to move from the house that has been our home for four years. Well I kept the house that can hold ten people with no problem. I even plan to add on to it so that if for some reason they ever need a place to stay they can come to my house and have room. Billy can stay till he finds a place of his own," I tell them. "Well that is kind of you young man. You not only came here to help keep your sisters and the other girls in your town safe you will help Billy with a place to stay, you are a good man. If you ever need help you can call on us," said Billy Sr.

"Thank you but I will do anything to help my family and with Lucas as sheriff they are not safe and I would not be able to sleep knowing that. See I walked in on him trying to get Ginny; she is strong and was fighting him off but would not have won. If I had not reached my house when I did I do not want to think what would have happened to her," I tell him. "That is why I am going what if it was Anna or Tania that it had happened to and what if it was them that was in danger they may be only 16 but they are still in danger from a man like him and he cannot go free," said Billy. His little sisters walked in at this and sat down and Tania asked, "How old is your horse she is huge and so friendly to." Billy is chuckling at this.

"Well she is six years old now and she is a Great Horse like the ones that the knights of old rode into war on. See her mother died in birth and the owner of the stable said she might live if someone took the time to bottle-feed her so I did I could not let a horse like her, not have a chance at life. He gave her to me when we moved from the city and has since gave me another horse like her a male named Storm Cloud he is only two to three years old now, he lost his mother in birth as well and Mr. Blake bottled- feed him until he got the young colt to me," I tell her.

"Wow so you have two horses and a huge house, what do you do for a living," asked Billy Sr. "I am a blacksmith and a carpenter, sir. See I helped add on to the house and spend a lot of time doing work on it and working at the store for Mr. Beast. The two horses were gifts from Mr. Blake so that he could have the excuse to come and visit us in our new home," I tell him. "So you add on to the house and receive two valuable horses as a gift and yet you are a blacksmith and a carpenter. That there tells me that you are a very good man and that people like you. Did you say you work for a Mr. Beast," asked Mrs. Miller.

"Yes I did. Why do you ask, do you know him," I ask. "My sister had been thinking about marrying a young man that was his older brother, I am only 34, but at the time I was much younger. They wanted to be together but his mother disapproved of them being together so much that she had someone kill my sister he was so mad that he killed the man that killed her. He came to me and said that he wished to fail the test that he had to take because then he would not have to ever see any one ever again," said Mrs. Miller. I did not know that about his brother. "I had no idea that his brother was a beast and did not wish to be freed. I do not know if Mr. Beast knows either and I do not wish to be the one to tell him that," I tell her. "I know how you feel I was there when I happened and I saw him come out of the woods along with his sister and Father, their Mother had a dagger in her sleeve she had made up her mind if one of her children became a beast she was going to kill herself," she tells me. "So she killed herself and he is there without his family and he does not wish to be freed. I feel bad for his family, they have to deal with this spell on all of them and there is no end in sight," I am starting to think that we need to find a wizard to remove this curse on this family.

The next day we set out and we galloped most of the way, we even walked in the moon light at night until we could not go any further. When we got to Blue Lake, we went straight to the jail and found Father, John, Freddy, Gorge, David, and Joe was all there and Lucas was in a cell. Mrs. Cross was there yelling "Let him out you are not the sheriff you cannot have him looked up he is sheriff," I look at Billy and see him shake his head.

"He has tried to rape four women and has been stopped each time by a man in the family. Two of the women are married and their husbands saved them, one was engaged and her Father and fiancée saved her, one was cleaning her brother's house. He was at work but he came home to let her know that she should be careful and lock the doors and that he would be home when she was cleaning so that if this man came around he could not rape her. They sent him to get me a sheriff from the next town my Father was hoping to retire and not have to work but it seems like I am needed here to help these people. I will start going over what the old sheriff had left and start to reinforce what he put into order. If anyone was banished then their still banished, if someone was to be arrested then they will be. He is to be in jail until the judge comes and then he will be tried for his crimes and then he must leave town and never come back," said Billy.

"You are never going to make it here young man if you lock him up I will see to it that you leave this town and never come back you hear me you will regret this you will regret angering me!" yelled an angry Mrs. Cross.
