Thinking about it now, maybe I should have crossed this story with Smallville because a lot of people that are part of Clark's life in Smallville are in this story and how they met are part of the Smallville Universe.

Welp.

Metropolis

"A little to the left," Diana says, tilting her head and moving her hand.

"Your left or my left, Di?" Kal asks, holding the framed painting above his head.

Diana doesn't answer, instead, she moves around the living room making sure to look at the piece from every angle of the room, it was a statement piece after all.

"Maybe it can go in the bedroom?" Diana asks and Kal sighs bringing the painting down and setting it on the wooden floor. "No, there wouldn't be enough space to hang it with your bookshelves."

"We can bring the shelves out here," Kal says turning around and smiling at his lovely wife who bites her lip while she's deep in thought. "Whatever you want, my love."

Kal can't help but look at his stunning wife in those oh-too-short shorts and wearing his white dress shirt with three buttons undone at the top. Diana's hair falls down her shoulders and back, and Kal is always tempted to run his hands through it. Kal walks slowly to Diana and before he can reach her, Diana is off.

"Di?" Kal calls out to his wife.

"Hold on," Diana replies. Running out of the living room and to the guest room. Kal hears the ripping of tape along with the shuffling of papers and bubble wrap now being popped. Kal lets out a soft chuckle as he thinks about all the antiques Diana has collected during their travels, waiting for the two of them to finally settle down and decorate for their new life together.

Clark Kent was not the most stylish out of the Kents, ironically enough it was Johnathan Kent. Clark had a few things he liked but truly had no opinion on how things were decorated, as long as he had his bookshelves and a place to sleep then Clark didn't care.

However, Clark quickly learned that Diana was different, trendy in her own Amazon way, and had a knack for making a room look cohesive with pieces that at first didn't seem to fit. For only being in man's world for a year, Diana had caught on to some things fairly quickly.

"How about this?" Diana asks coming back to the living room with a painting they'd made together while in Rome. Kal smiles and Diana moved behind the couch with the painting.

"Kal!" Diana gasps as she's lifted from the ground and sat on his shoulder to hand the painting on the wall. Once the pair decide on what looks centered, the painting is finally hung on the wall.

"I think it looks great, Baby," Kal says looking up at Diana who is still pondering.

Kal then watches as Diana removes her legs from his shoulder and floats next to him. Kal holds Diana's hand and gently tugs her hand, Diana snaps out of her thoughts and her feet softly touch the ground.

"Sorry." Diana mumbles. "I forgot that we can't use our powers"

"We can use our powers, Di," Kal says turning to look at Diana. "We just live on the tenth floor of a building so we have to be careful." Kal's hand lifts and gently cups Diana's cheek. "You never have to hold back with me, Diana."

It had been so easy for Kal to forget that he was Clark Kent when he was with Diana. For so long Kal had to be human, and tone down his powers and at times it was suffocating. So, when he found Diana and shared similar gifts, all he wanted to do was fly side by side with the love of his life.

As for Diana, well, she and her sisters Donna and Cassandra were the only Amazon with gifts and was kept away from most Amazons until the age of twelve. Once introduced to the Amazonian Society, she was looked upon as an outsider, not because of her birth but of the powers that came with it.

Under cover of night when the world slept, they'd flown in the skies, hand in hand, they'd race through the deep woods, swim to the deepest parts of the ocean, and only briefly tested their limitations. But when the sun rose and the world came back to life, the two had to hide. However, as long as they were together it didn't matter.

"But when you're with me in public you can't float," Kal says, moving closer to Diana's ear and whispering some words that make the Amazon blush and hit his chest.

"And you have to keep your hands to yourself," Diana says slowly stepping away from Kal.

"Oh, do I?" Kal asks, biting his lower lip, his eyes flashing red and Diana knows she's in trouble.

Diana runs and Kal quickly runs after her. Diana jumps over the coffee table and Kal tries to grab her mid-jump but fails. She then makes it to the dining room, Diana on one side and Kal on the other. When Diana tries to go to one side, Kal moves to the other. It's cat and mouse at this point and Kal enjoys the chase, knowing that in the end, Diana will give in.

Kal leaps over the table and Diana ducks, crawling under it.

"Gah!" Diana screams as Kal grabs Diana's leg and pulls her from under the table and throws her over his shoulder, making sure to slap her round and firm ass. "You brute! Unhand me!"

Kal chuckles as Diana beats on his back playfully.

Diana thinks that Kal is taking her to their bedroom, which she would not object to. However, Kal opens the front door into the shared hallway and walks outside. Once he puts Diana down, Kal stands next to Diana and holds out his hand.

"What are you doing, Kal?" Diana asks, adjusting her clothes.

"I have to carry my wife into our new home," Kal tells Diana.

"Since when?" Diana questions looking up at her husband. Kal had never asked her to do this before in any place that they lived in before. Granted, they were only renting those places, and only now did they decide that Metropolis would be their home.

"It's a tradition of Mans World," Kal tells his wife, looking into her blue eyes. "When a couple gets married, the man carries his wife into their house."

"So, for ownership then." Diana sighs blankly.

"You know me better than that, Diana," Kal assures Diana. "When you left your home, Diana, I promised you that I would be your home." Kal turns to look down at his lovely wife. "That I would always be by your side, that you'd be safe and sound with me. I intend to keep that promise to you and one way to solidify that bond is to carry you across that threshold and into our new life."

Kal holds out his right hand, palm open which showed the cut that still remained, the one that mimics her own, the promise they made to each other.

Diana does not know how to respond to her husband. As playful and aloof as Kal can be, there are also moments when he is deep and sincere, firm in all his words to Diana. Diana could listen to his heartbeat, but there was no point when she knew she controlled the rhythm, for it followed the same tune in her chest. Though the beginning of their relationship had been rough, Kal had never led her astray, never let her down, never let her believe that she'd take a step without him next to her. Kal assured Diana that if she fell, it would be in a safe place and he'd be there to catch her. So, without another question, Diana leaps into Kal's arms and he carries her through the door of their home.

The Metropolis Museum of Art

Diana pulls down her black dress as she quickly walks the steps of the Metropolis Museum of Art. She'd be here sooner if Kal hadn't followed Diana into the shower this morning. Nonetheless, Diana gathered enough energy to make it to the interview and to her new life with Clark.

Stepping through the doors it's as if Diana has stepped back through time. The architecture remains modern but the art that it holds, and the story it tells connects with Diana, legends from a time long gone stuck in a world that is moving.

Diana walks through the halls looking at the art that she had studied for weeks. No longer did she question if she knew the art nor its creator but rather admired it for how it's retained its beauty over the years. She then stops in front of a piece that she'd not seen before, it was not in any of the books she'd read.

Walking closer, Diana's eyes cannot tear themselves away from the strong strokes of the brush nor the vivid colors. The massive painting captures a beautiful island at night, the sky littered with stars and the moon smiling down at all the figures painted below.

On the shore two bodies, the man holds the woman in his arms, clutching her close and the woman is pressed to the man's chest. One would expect the woman to hold the man back and cling to her lover but her hands are wrapped around something more precious, a child in her arms.

"Lovely isn't it." a silk voice comments, Diana turns quickly to look at the woman standing next to her. "One of my favorite pieces."

"I've never seen this one before…"Diana trails off, her eyes looking at the painting and trying to figure out if she had missed this painting in her studies. Surely Kal would have mentioned this painting to her when it so closely reminded Diana of her homeland. "I didn't think the Met had pieces like this from…"Diana tries to get a closer look at this art, trying to find any information on the time period or artist but there is nothing.

"They just acquired it." the woman says matter-of-factly. "It was a wedding gift actually. I assume the giver thought it would be good luck, a young couple beginning their life, and all the possibilities boiled down to one moment in time, the conception of a child." Diana looks at the woman and her smile slightly cracks. "But maybe it will bring luck to someone else."

"I ho–"

"Ms. Al Ghul!" a young blonde woman shouts running towards Diana and who Diana assumes is Ms. Al Ghul. Nonetheless, a lanky woman approaches the two, her hair in a messy bun, her glasses on the bridge of her nose, and her dress wrinkled. "I'm sorry Dr. Candy is running late but I'm her assistant Barbara Minerva. I can start the donation process with you until Dr. Candy arrives."

Diana turns to look at Ms. Al Ghul. Surely this piece wasn't the one that she was donating. But then again the way she'd spoken about the piece seemed to come from an emotional part of the woman.

"It's fine," Talia says looking at her watch and ignoring Barbara's presence. "I have another appointment. Dr. Candy will receive an email from me later." Talia then turns to Diana. "It was lovely meeting you."

Diana smiles and the two watch as Talia leaves the Museums.

"Is there anything I could help you with?" Barbara asks.

"Oh, I'm Diana Kent," Diana says holding out her hand. "The–"

"Oh my gosh!" Barbara shouts and throws herself onto Diana hugging the Amazon. Diana is caught off for a second but then welcomes the hug, it's been a while since she's had a genuine hug from another woman. "Sorry." Barbara apologizes, pulling away and dusting off Diana's dress. "I get really excited when we hire new people. Wow, you're extremely pretty and you want to work here? You could be a model."

"Thank you." Diana chuckles. "I never thought of modeling and my husband suggested fi–"

"You're married!" Barbara gasps. "Oh my gosh! That's so cute! How–where is your ring?"

Diana's smile quickly falls as she looks down at her fingers and then back at Barbara. Kal-El told her how rings were customary in Man's world for married couples. However, this couple didn't have the luxury of being normal and their bond ran deeper than metal wrapped around their fingers. For them, their vows are etched in their skin, shared through their blood, and a bond that not even the Gods to break. Yet, Diana gives Barbara a simple answer.

"We're working on it," Diana says, remembering the promise Kal-El made about a ring though it meant little to Diana. As long as Kal-El was her husband the metal didn't matter.

"Well, Diana." Barbara says locking her arm with Diana's "I'm going to teach you all about this Museum and together we're gonna make the Met the most profitable Museum in the world."

The Daily Planet, Metropolis

The City seemed bigger the longer Clark had been away. Clark had no intention of leaving the city for a year. In fact, after graduating from NYU, Clark landed a role as an Editorial Intern at the Daily Planet but then he stumbled upon Diana's Island and Metropolis no longer mattered.

However, Clark could not abandon his family and the life he created for himself so he had to come back. While coming back, Clark had to support himself and Diana thus returning to the city was inevitable. Luckily, the Daily Planet saw the talent within Clark and hired him as an Editorial Assistant which in this job market and economy is hard to come by.

"Well, look who decided to show their face." a blonde woman says, running over to Clark and throwing her hands around his neck. "I'm glad you made it safely. How is the wife?"

"Diana's good," Clark replies, hugging Chloe back. "She's starting a new job today."

"I told you, she'd make a lovely model." Chloe teased as the two walked through the lobby of the Daily Planet and towards the elevator. "Foreign girl, slim, tall, dark hair, long legs, and the accent. Woof, she'd take the world by storm."

"We're trying to live a normal life, Clo," Clark says, stepping into the elevator with Chloe. "Besides, I don't think Diana is that type of girl."

"You just want to keep her for yourself." Chloe smiles at Clark. "Nothing wrong with that, still don't know much about her."

"You've met her several times."

"And every time it feels like the first."

When Clark introduced Diana to his friends and then later revealed Diana as his wife, shock was not the right word to describe it. Diana's backstory was murky and their meeting even shakier, thus there were a lot of questions surrounding the two. Clark would answer as much as he could, but not reveal Diana's secret to anyone, it was her choice and he respected and protected it.

"She keeps to herself." Clark shrugs and the door opens to the editorial floor of the Daily Planet.

Phones ring off the hook, multiple televisions show various news stations, quickie taps to keyboards, flipping of papers and the quick steps of workers are the rhythm and flow of the editorial floor.

Clark runs his hands through his dark curls so they fall loosely. Walking through the floor, Clark looks for the office of Richard White.

From what Clark knew of Richard, his Uncle Perry White was the current Editor-In-Chief of the Daily Planet. He grated top of his class from Columbia, won two Pulitzers, and recently returned from Brazil documenting the Rebellion. Clark had been in Brazil with Diana at the same time. Diana worked as a teacher while Clark wrote articles and reported on his website. It was a way for Clark to stay connected in the industry while traveling with Diana and supporting their life.

"Watch it big guy." a woman hisses. "What, you got two left feet?"

Clark looks in front of him as a woman with a brunette bobbed haircut scolds him.

"Sorry." Clark apologizes. "I–"

"I don't care just–" The woman takes a deep breath and then looks at the man. "Look, the bathroom for construction is downstairs. You guys keep stealing our toilet paper and I–"

"I don't work in construction." Clark corrects the woman.

"Then who are you and what do you want?" The woman asks.

"I'm Clark." Clark introduces himself, holding out his hand for the woman to shake, and then quickly retracts it. "Clark Kent. I'm the EA for Richard White."

"An EA." The woman says bluntly.

"Huh?"

"You're not the EA for Mr. White." The woman informs Clark. "You're an EA for Mr. White. He's got a team and now you're part of it. I'm Lois Lane, your partner."

"Damnit Olsen!" a man shouts followed by a loud thud. Clark turns to see a red-haired boy on the ground clutching his camera.

"You break that camera and I won't save you from Richard." Lois sighs, pinching her nose.

The young man gets up from the floor, dusts off his clothes, and looks at Lois. "Mr. White won't be upset as long as the photos are good." The boy then turns to Clark. "Oh, are you our the new EA?"

"Clark."

"Jimmy," Jimmy replies, reaching out his hand to shake Clark. "Woah, tight grip, dude. Where you from, you're pretty big to be a city boy."

"Kansas," Clark replies slightly brushing, as he tries to make himself small. "I played football and did a lot of farm work."

"Well, let's hope this big city doesn't eat you alive." Lois groans as she looks through a stack of papers. "Mr. White isn't here today so you're with me. We're working on the Museum Heights."

"They haven't caught the perps yet."

"If they did then we wouldn't be working on the story, Kent." Lois sighs. "Keep up. Jimmy and I are going out into the field, we need photos, you, stay here and work through these files. Come up with something coherent for us to present to Mr. White when he gets back."

Clark sighs, it's going to be a long day.

The Kent Apartment

It's around nine when Clark arrives home with purple roses in hand. He mentally punches himself as he remembers calling Diana and telling her he'd be home late. Diana said she'd make dinner for him later but Clark told her not to stay up too late as he didn't know how long it'd be.

This was the first time Clark has ever arrived home late in the year of being married to Diana. He doesn't want to make this a habit and doesn't want their marriage to fall to the back burner. It may sound irrational as it's only one time but Clark remembered his previous relationship, missing dates, and giving terrible excuses.

Clark walks into the kitchen, putting the flowers in a vase for his wife to view in the morning. He opens the microwave to see a plate of food covered with a napkin, he smiles as he noticed Diana making his favorite meal. Though it may not taste like his mothers cooking, Diana's effort is enough to satisfy Clark.

So, Clark skips dinner, undoing his tie as he walks into their bedroom. Diana is asleep the covers hiding the beautiful curves of her body. Clark knows he should shower before getting into bed, not wanting to add the grime of the city inside but right now he doesn't care. Removing his shoes, Clark crawls into bed, pulling Diana into his chest.

"Kal…"Diana mumbles, her eyes fluttering open to look at him."How was your day?"

"Long and tiring." Clark sighs and places a kiss on Diana's forehead. "But I'm home now."

"Mhmm." Diana groans moving closer into Clark's grip, with one leg thrown over his waist and holding him to the bed. "Goodnight."

Clark chuckles and whispers goodnight to his wife.

And as Clark holds Diana he reminds himself why he'll never expose his powers to the world. So he can protect not just the life he has, but the future he wishes to create with the woman in his arms.

This isn't a regular story in the sense of Clark and Diana becoming heroes and dating. For one, they're married extremely young, Clark is 23 and Diana is 20. Clark doesn't know anything about his Kryptonian life but that will come in the later chapters. We're following a young couple trying to adjust to the human world and marriage. We will learn more about how they met, how and why they got married so young, and what's going on with Themyscria. Diana doesn't know much about the world only from Clark's perspective and life so it's going to be hard for her to adjust and it's going to put a strain on the relationship a little. There will be action, I can promise you that but I wanted to get some fluff and character development before the story takes off with the plot. Diana is definitely learning and so is Clark.

Also, I like Kat Grant a lot. I slightly hate how they made her a blonde bimbo when the girl is so smart and a great journalist though it's about celebrity lives. Though I don't like the Super Girl TV Show, I enjoyed how they made Kat more than just some blonde bimbo who is obsessed with Clark and only thinks with her libido. Girls got talent and spunk.

Still not a fan of Lois Lane but I won't write her as a horrible person. She just isn't the one for Clark in this story or any story I write with the SMWW pair and that's my artistic choice and opinion.

Same with Talia Al Ghul. Like I understand her background has been rewritten so many times but like I don't think Talia needed to SA Bruce to have Damien. Talia has done a lot of crap but, that's too far. So, the version of Talia I choose to write is in Batman: Son of the Demon where Tala and Bruce are HAPPILY married and spend weeks of passion and make Damien. I won't spoil how that story ends cause it's part of the plot here but yeah...I fuck HEAVILY with Talia Al Ghul. Now, Ra's and Nyssa can find a cliff, but Talia...if Bruce can save the Joker than Talia can b saved. I'm not gonna rant cause we'd be here all day

Hope you stay tuned. :)
