Chapter 6:

Asteroid Strike!

As the courtship ended, those not amongst the courtship watched as the new couples climbed up to the top of a nearby hill. Aladar approaches as he watches the last of the couples climb up the hill where at the top, the couples looked out into the horizon to watch the sunset.

Aladar watched them with both a happy and sad look and soon he turns away to leave but then he heard a sad sigh as he then saw Sweet-Tooth sitting under the tree alone.

Feeling bad for Sweet-Tooth, Aladar lightly sighed and headed on over to her, clearly seeing that Sweet-Tooth is taking it the hardest.

"Ah, don't worry Sweet-Tooth. You've always got next year," Aladar said trying to be there for his friend with encouraging words. At least she had hope of finding someone.

"It's okay, Aladar. Besides I'm lucky to be rid of them. With the stallions, before you know it, they all wanna move to a bigger hill and tree," Sweet-Tooth said, trying to hide her pain as she climbs onto Aladar's nose.

"Hmm," Aladar agreed, somewhat with that mostly to cheer Sweet-Tooth up, and finding it humorous.

Though she didn't say it, she was appreciative of Aladar having her back since they were more or less in the same boat. Close by, Half-Light and the rest of the girls were sad for Sweet-Tooth being struck out again with the courtship.

"Oh, well. Poor Sweet-Tooth," Cinnamon said sadly.

"Looks like our band still has one bachelorette," Sky Color said, also sadly.

"No," Half-Light disagreed, knowing that Sweet-Tooth wasn't the only single creature in the band. Looking at her adopted younger brother as Aladar and Sweet-Tooth walked away, Half-Light said, "We have two single family members,".

Sky Color and the others watched as Half-light left to talk with Aladar. As Aladar lowers down and Sweet-Tooth hopped off his snout and headed back into the forest.

"Well, it's never really been my best friend's best event, huh?" Half-Light said, walking up to her adopted 'little' brother and stood next to him.

"Sweet-Tooth's got a tougher hide than mine," Aladar agreed.

Half-Light then placed a comforting hand on Aladar's face before hugging him and said, "Oh, Aladar, if only there was someone on the island for you…".

Of course, then she thought about it and joked, "...Well, you know who likes you but prettier as well,".

She knew the last part wasn't the best prep talk thing to say, but she couldn't think of anything else.

"Come on, Half-Light. I got all I need. What more can I want?" Aladar chuckled as he looked around.

Suddenly a strange new flaming whooshing sound was heard in the distance as Aladar looked up at the sky. All the Eohippus nearby looked up as well to see a quartet of flaming streaks of lines in the sky. The streaks soar through the air in the evening sky as if they were balls of fire.

"Whoa!" Aladar gasped, amazed as he stood up and turns to them as he watched them.

Half-Light watched as well as being amazed too.

Nearby, the Prehistoric Crusaders wanted to go over and watch as well so they headed on over and watched the sky as they ran towards Aladar as he walks underneath the tree and the fireball streaks glowed purple. The Prehistoric Crusaders climbed up onto Aladar's back leg and then onto his head.

"What are they?" Sweet Pebble asked, with her eyes filled with wonder and almost enchanted by them.

"I don't know," Aladar said, unsure.

"Come on, let's go get a better view," Free Fall suggested as she, Tangerine, and Sweet Pebble climbed up the hill to get a better view and joined the other Eohippus at the top as they watched.

Soon, more streaks of fireballs suddenly appeared and started to come down in multitudes as some of them hissed as they fell. Almost as if they are displaying a mysterious evening light show.

The fireballs are actually small meteors flying through the atmosphere at high speeds which caused them to catch fire. Meteors often soar through the air every so often, but tonight there were a lot more than usual.

Aladar took a few steps forward toward the edge of the cliff and watches as the meteors fell through the air and disappeared behind the horizon. The other Eohippus continued watching the meteor light show as Sweet-Tooth appeared and got an odd feeling as she could feel something was about to happen.

Half-Light, Cinnamon, Rareness, Sky-Color, and Frolic Timid joined next to Chieftress Bright Cycle and Night Cycle as a loud whooshing sound was heard and then turned into a loud distant clanging sound. Frolic Timid and Half-Light looked overhead and saw a flock of prehistoric Hippogriffs flying off, squawking in fear.

Getting suspicious, a smell came over to Bright Cycle's nose and she didn't like it.

"What is it, sister?" Night Cycle asked, turning to her older sister.

After one more sniff, Bright Cycle turned to her younger sister and said, while not looking away from the meteors, "Something's wrong,".

A whooshing sound was heard as Rareness, Sky-Color, and Cinnamon grew concerned for they have realized their Chieftress was right. So the three Eohippus mares made their way to the tree and towards the Kritopony as he didn't move from his spot.

"Aladar, where are the girls?" Cinnamon asked as Aladar glanced back at them.

"They're up on the…hill" Aladar tried to reply when something caught his eye. And suddenly it got strangely brighter as Aladar looks at the air at something.

The brightness grew as Half-Light and her friends looked up and saw something that made their eyes widened.

As it turns out, the meteors were the bow wave of something much, much bigger.

Suddenly falling from the clouds, came a colossal asteroid as wide as a mountain is tall appeared from the heavens as bright as the sun itself. Every Eohippus watched as the brightness grew more and the colossal asteroid continues falling past the clouds, trailing a long huge smoke trail behind it, before falling somewhere in the ocean behind the horizon.

Then suddenly a bright white light flash appeared and erupted from the impact with a loud whoosh. And the bright flash fades as it was now with a ring of air in the sky and a large mushroom cloud was seen, indicating where the asteroid landed.

Everything was quiet as everyone watched as the brightness slowly lowers and everyone was worried about it unsure of what was going on. Aladar watched silently still unsure what to make of it.

The eerie silence continues as the mushroom cloud's fiery glow slowly fades down and then suddenly a strange line was seen moving across the ocean and was being followed by another as a strange sound was then heard.

Everyone watched remained silent and watched as the sound grew and then suddenly they were thrown back a bit by a sudden strong gust of wind as strong as a hurricane's front blast. Leaving everyone completely shocked as they gasped and stunned at what just happened.

Bright Cycle, Night Cycle, and the Prehistoric Mane 6 were also stunned by what just happened, and before they could even think or even react to what just happened, a second shock wave suddenly soars by and knocked them back.

"What was that?!" Frolic Timid asked, shaking from the shock wave.

"I don't know! But it's not good!" Half-Light replied.

"We need to get out of here! Everyone head for safety, now!" Bright Cycle ordered as she helped her younger sister up and the two ran.

Half-Light and her friends were about to follow until Rareness, Sky-Color and Cinnamon heard three familiar voices shouting to them.

"Cinnamon!/ Sky-Color!/ Rareness!" They all called out in unison.

"The Crusaders!" Cinnamon, Rareness, and Sky Color shouted in unison as they turned to the plume.

All the other Eohippus had run off and left the three fillies alone. Suddenly a loud sound was heard, and a tremor began as the mushroom cloud suddenly erupts an army of dozens of meteors high into the sky from the base as if a monster has just been unleashed, scaring the Prehistoric Crusaders as they found themselves stuck on the hilltop and are scared.

"HELP! HELP! HELP!" They shouted.

"Girls?!" Aladar shouted below, looking for signs of the Crusaders.

"HEEEEEEELLLLLLLLPPPP!" The Crusaders shouted again.

Half-Light and her friends hurried on over to the tree.

"Girls! Where are you?" Aladar shouted in worry, looking up at the hill.

Half-Light and Frolic Timid climbed up onto Aladars' back but Cinnamon, Rareness, and Sky-Color quickly hurried up the hill to the top as the leaves fell off the tree from the shaking. At the hilltop, Sweet Pebble, Tangerine, and Free Fall stood horrified unable to move in fear, as they watched the bombardment of meteors heading towards the island. Suddenly, Cinnamon, Rareness, and Sky Color appeared and quickly grabbed their sisters as they headed back down and got on Aladars' back with Frolic Timid while Half-Light was on his head.

"We need to get out of here!" Cinnamon said in urgency while holding on to her sister.

"Run, Aladar, run! Run!" Half-Light yelled.

Aladar didn't have to be told twice as he turned and began to run from the tree.

At the ocean, the bombardment army of meteors rains down over the water and hit the ocean as a number of them headed for the island and a massive tidal wave was beginning to rise.

On the island, everyone from Eohippus to Kritopony ran for their lives into the forest as the bombardment reaches the island and rains down as it then got brighter and Aladar with Half-Light, Rareness, Frolic Timid, Cinnamon, Sky Color, Sweet Pebble, Free Fall, and Tangerine on him ran by gasping as a meteor hits the ground near them.

Among the fleeing Eohippus, Bright Cycle and Night Cycle ran until Night Cycle tripped over a branch and hits the ground. Bright Cycle went back to help her younger sister until Aladar suddenly appeared behind them and lowered his head down as he tossed them up.

"Chieftresses, Come On!" Aladar yelled as a meteor landed on the ground close by and Bright and Night Cycle landed on Aladar's head.

Sweet-Tooth was running across a log as Aladar and the others caught up to her.

"Sweet-Tooth! Jump! Jump!" Aladar and Half-Light yelled in unison.

Sweet-Tooth hurries across the log near them and then reaches the end where she got on a stump and made a jump for it to Aladar as meteor hits the ground near them with a sudden flash.

"Hold on, Sweet-Tooth, I gotcha!" Sky Color yelled as she quickly caught Sweet-Tooth.

Meteors continued raining down and more and more explosions rang all around while the colossal tidal wave continues to soar through the ocean approaching the island.

On the island, everyone kept running for their lives in the forests as Aladar continued running and a meteor suddenly hits the ground just behind him and it knocked Aladar off his feet. Sending him flying through the air and hitting the ground as Aladar skids across the dirt. Not even wasting a second, Aladar quickly gets back on his feet as Sky Color holds on to Sweet-Tooth and Aladar yelled and gasped.

The colossal tidal wave continues growing as it nears the island and more meteors rained down.

On the island, Aladar soon made it out of the forest and into the open as he ran, a metoer hits the ground near him on the left but he quickly dodges as a second meteor hits the ground on his right and Aladar kept running as he gasped and grunted, and a third meteor hits the ground he passed by the next second later.

The Colossal Tidal Wave from the blast grows larger as it gets closer to the island.

Aladar continues running as the tidal wave grew bigger and closer. A meteor hits the ground and then three more meteors struck the ground at once as Aladar kept running and grunts.

Soon, Aladar was running out of island as he ran and nears a sea cliff on the other side of the island as two meteors crashed into the ocean. Aladar quickly comes to a stop with a grunt and skids right to the edge as rocks fell and there was a 100 foot drop below them.

Now Aladar has nowhere to go and they're trapped.

The huge Tsunami wave finally reaches the island as the leaves of the courtship tree were blown off and then it was knocked off aside from the water front.

On the other end of the island, Aladar looked back and gasped seeing the destructive Tsunami wave coming right at them. They are now trapped between a huge wall of sea water and the sheer drop cliff.

Seeing it come closer, and without a second thought, Aladar decided to the chance and quickly jumped off the cliff as he falls and bellows as the huge tsunami wave passes over the spot where he was just at. Half-Light and her friends were thrown off Aladar as they fell and part of the cliff comes off and Aladar fell closer to the water as the tsunami wave draws closer.

Aladar hits the water and dives under while a couple of rocks sank underwater.

While the rocks sink, Aladar started swimming up.

At the surface, streaks of fire continued falling as Aladar erupts out of the water like a whale and bellows as he hits the water underneath. Soon, he surfaced again and coughed.

"Half-Light! Girls! Where are you?!" Aladar yelled out as he started to swim to keep himself afloat and coughed.

"ALADAR!" Half-Light's voice called out as Aladar looked to see his big adoptive sister and her friends on some driftwood using it as a raft.

"Over Here!" Half-Light called out again.

Looking in their direction, Aladar quickly hurries and swam over to their aid.
