One Year Later (38-37 BBY)
The Mandalorian Civil War had ended, and the New Mandalorians and House Darius stood victorious over the Death Watch. The Death Watch was banished to Mandalore's outer moon, and a new government was established on Mandalore. Now that conflict had been resolved, Kila was to be reassigned by the council. But Kila and Lohan developed feelings for each other throughout the war. Kila decided to leave the Jedi Order and marry Lohan instead. The Jedi order was surprised to hear this but respected Kila's wish. The Jedi Order requested that she return her lightsaber, which she obliged. Still, Kila eventually crafted a new saber over the years. Lohan became the Co-Chancellor of Mandalore. After a few years of marriage, Kila gave birth to her first and only child, Ronin Darius, in 37 BBY. The war was over, and a new government had been formed on Mandalore. Now, Kila and Lohan were happily married. Everything seemed to work out for the two, but their troubles were only beginning.
One Month Later
Kila's eyes shot open. She looked over at her husband, Lohan, and shook him awake. Lohan awakened with a shudder.
"Something is not right." She said.
"What is it?" Lohan said, getting up.
"Someone is here; I can sense it," Kila said, getting up and grabbing her lightsaber.
Lohan didn't understand what was happening, so he hopped out of the bed and rushed to put on his black and green Mandalorian armor. He turned to Kila, who had already gotten her robes on.
"Go check on Ronin! I'll check the hallways!" Lohan said, noticeably worried.
Kila nodded and bolted downstairs to check on their child. Lohan went to open the door, which was sealed shut. He shoved the door open into the chaos of the hallway outside. Dead bodies of their guards were scattered across the hallway, but no blaster bolt markings. It appeared all of the guards had been stabbed to Death. Lohan scanned the hall and saw no one in the lobby. After checking the gallery, Lohan went to a comms console by the bed and contacted the authorities.
When Kila got downstairs, she found Ronin's crib empty. Then she looked over near the window and saw four fully armed Mandalorians in Death Watch armor. The tallest one, supposedly the group's leader, stepped out and spoke.
"Kila Darius, you and your husband have been marked for termination for your treachery against the Death Watch Organization. And your child is coming with us." The soldier stated firmly.
"You're not going to kill my husband or me. And you're certainly not going to take my son." Kila drew her green lightsaber, waving it before the Mandalorian warriors menacingly.
"uh uh uh. I don't think so." The figure brought his arm before him, revealing Ronin bundled in sheets. One move, One bolt through the little one's head. It'd be a shame to let a force sensitive go to waste."
Just up the stairs, Lohan had been listening intently to the conversation. Upon hearing this, he slowly brought his comlink to his mouth and whispered into it. "Jax, This is Lohan. Death Watch has broken into my house and is trying to kidnap my son."
"You don't know that." Kila snarled at them.
"Well, I'd be willing to bet that a child of a Jedi has a pretty good chance of it." The warrior holding Ronin said in a superior tone.
"Keep her here." The leader commanded. He stepped back and shot through the window, sending shards of glass flying everywhere like thousands of tiny daggers that shredded the curtains by the panel and the walls. The other Mandalorian Warriors were utterly unfazed as the shards of glass shattered against their beskar armor, leaving nothing to show the glass's impact, not even a scratch. The Leader and Ronin disappeared into the dark of the night.
"Ronin!" Kila screamed out, but there was nothing she could do. The other warriors stood their ground with their blasters fixed on Kila. When the warrior holding Ronin disappeared, Kila forced the remaining men against the wall in a rage, knocking them out simultaneously. At that moment, Lohan jumped out from behind the stairs and rolled into the room.
"Where did they take Ronin?" Lohan asked urgently.
"I can't be sure, But I can reverse track the signal on radar from one of their commlinks," Kila said as she ripped a commlink of a wrist gauntlet of one of the knocked-out Mandalorians.
'While you do that, I'm going to get to Jax. Once you've gotten the comm signal, Transmit it to me, and I'll make sure Jax and the rest of the militia know Ronin's location. And if one of them wakes up, interrogate him."
"There's not enough time," Kila said as tears cascaded down her face.
"I know, but it's the only course of action we have," Lohan said as he wiped a tear off Kila's cheek. With that, Lohan ignited his jetpack and headed for the local militia. He was leaving Kila to find the signal from the comlink.
Lohan had arrived at the local Militia Station within minutes of flying. As Lohan touched down, a familiar figure began running towards him.
"Lohan! What's going on? Does Death Watch have Ronin?" Jax said as he ran towards his old friend.
"Yes, they have Ronin. I need you and your men to sweep the city perimeter and lock down all spaceports before they can escape. Kila is currently decoding the location of the Death Watch soldiers in the area. She should have it soon." Lohan said.
"Understood. I'll get John and old Beeks to round up the men."
"Thank you, friend," Lohan said as he clasped Jax's shoulder appreciatively.
"Any time. Let's make sure we get Ronin back in one piece." Jax said as he walked over to the militia and began yelling orders.
"John, get your guards and establish a perimeter around the city. And Beeks, contact central command and lock down all spaceports. I don't want anyone leaving this sector."
"Yes, sir!" John and Beeks said in unison before rushing briskly to get their men.
"Lohan, you come with me. I want to be ready when Kila gets their location." Jax said.
"Thank you, but I'm driving this time," Lohan said in a stern tone that did not leave space for discussion.
While Lohan and Jax were rounding up the militia, Kila found the signals. Three signals popped up on the Mandalorian's gauntlet at her location. There were another ten at the south port. And there was one moving at high speed heading for the south port. "Got it," Kila exclaimed as she transmitted the location to Lohan.
"Lohan! This is Kila. They are at the South port. There appear to be ten more waiting there. The one carrying Ronin's coordinates is 41°24'12.2"N 2°10'26.5"E heading south. I've already transmitted the location to you..."
"What happened?" Jax asked.
"Her transmission cut off." Our Comms must be jammed. Let's go." Lohan said as he jumped onto a speeder and whipped the throttle, giving Jax a split second to get on behind him, giving Jax a nasty sensation of whiplash as they sped on toward Ronin's captor.
"All units, this is Jax. The perpetrator's coordinates are 41°24'12.2"N 2°10'26.5" E heading south. Beeks, send all of your men to the south port. John, have all your units follow me." Jax said into his comlink. Four speeders carrying John's men formed behind Lohan and Jax a few moments later. Before Jax could give more orders, his comlink went off again.
"This is Beeks; all my men are ready and waiting at the south port. We have identified a Kom'rk-class starfighter with the Death Watch symbol in the south port with eight Death Watch Soldiers near the ship. Should we engage?"
"Affirmative Beeks. Make sure that ship is disabled!" Jax said.
"You heard him, men! Rockets two and three, fire on that ship!" Beeks croaked. Two rockets flared out of the shoulder-mounted launchers the militiamen carried and straight into the Death Watch transport, exploding the vehicle and sending the Death Watch soldiers flying along with pieces of debris and offshoots of flames. Once the fire had died sufficiently, the rest of Beeks men ran into the port and detained the remaining Death Watch troopers.
"South port has been secured, sir, although with some rather severe damage to the port itself," Beeks said over Jax's intercom.
"Good work, Beeks; hold your position," Jax said.
"Will do, Commander." Beeks said that the light on Jax's comlink flickered off.
"Now we just have to catch that piece of shab that took Ronin," Lohan snarled.
"Don't worry, Lohan. We'll get him. He has nowhere to run."
"We shall see."
"John, I need you and one other speeder to loop around. Take up a sniper position once we catch up to the trooper. He has a hostage, and if we can't talk him down, we'll need you to take him down." Lohan said.
"Yes, sir." John said and took off with another speeder."
After another minute of zooming by, the group caught up with the kidnapper. The kidnapper noticed this and began firing at the speeder in pursuit, hitting a fuel tank on the speeder left of Lohan and Jax's, causing it and the town men on it to crash into a nearby building in a mushroom cloud of flame.
"He's not going to talk, well, not if he has Ronin in his hand, " Jax told Lohan.
"I know. Tell John to get into a posting five clicks ahead of us and take his shot if he finds an opportunity," Lohan said.
"But Ronin!"
"John's more than a good shot. And I'll catch him. No harm is going to come to him. Not while I still live. And it's better than anything we can do."
"Understood." I'll let John know." Jax said as he turned on his comlink, giving John the instructions.
The chase continued, with the pursued shooting an occasional blast back at the pursuers as they raced through the city.
"You'd think his pack would've run out by now," Jax said from behind.
"I was thinking the same thing," Lohan said.
Before Jax could reply, the Mandalorian's pack began to sputter out, forcing the warrior to touch down on a building and continue running on foot. But before the man could get any further, a Green bolt whizzed through the air hitting the Mandalorian warrior right in the head, causing him and Ronin to fall backward off the building. Lohan jumped into action at a lightning pace. He shot through the air in the blink of an eye, heading straight for the falling man and prying a crying Ronin from the grasp of the falling warrior.
